At the meanwhile, heed my instruction

After you created the LiveUSB successfully, plug it onto the desktop (turned off)
Then you turn on the PC
Do NOT wait it to fully boot, smash the hecc outta DEL button
This should boot you to BIOS.
Navigate to the BOOT section, and override the priority (usually 0) to the USB
Save change, restart, it should boot you to the Mint of the Live USB

From that you may have some peek into the disks, and things in general, even being locked, like how many disks and how much it filled with data

Nominally, for a 3060ti, if you were using a desktop-style card, max retail TDP is ~200w, 120w for the processor, so you need at least 350w.

If you could even get it in a latop.

Nah, the house's AC unit is slightly undersized.

And when it's 110 outside, we can't dump heat out there.

To properly redo the A/C system for this house is gonna be ~20k or so, which won't be affordable for awhile.

Technically, for the house (2ksqft), the 4 ton unit we've got is enough cooling, but it's not really enough as soon as you remember it's vegas. :D

The compressors tend to burn out in 10-15 years.

The secret for working out cooling loads (In the US), is every 500sqft is 1 ton of A/C.

So our 4 ton is "enough" but it's not nearly enough to keep it comfortable.

The current system is a 4 ton, 14 seer unit, where seer is a measure of energy efficency.

Per US building code, I'm required, and the home builder was required to put in a 14 seer minimum unit, and they did just that.

A sensible upgrade to an 18 seer unit will drop the power usage by 5-10%

I considered a 20 seer, but that was an unreasonably large sum of money.

Like the PC is on but the monitor won't come out of power saver? You could try googling a solution, but any time I've seen that it's just a weird glitch and you end up having to reboot to fix it. Or does it happen consistently if your monitor goes into powersaver?

my RTX 4090 came with an anti-sag bracer in the box, first time I've seen a GPU have that thing included by default

it was mounted into two of the screw holes for mounting the mobo against the case, with separator rings to keep the two away from each other

On the one hand I want to build an ITX pc myself; I could keep a few of my own parts and keep the cost down a bit.

On the other hand all the good ITX cases are scarce AF and can't fit the best GPUs.

Or could order the Chronos from Origin. It would be more expensive, but it would come in a good ITX case, and it can fit both a 4080 OR a 7900 XTX since unlike us randos Origin actually has access to the reference models (and some bigger cards).

The amd gpus are able to match 40 series with 2 8 pins so there's definitely an argument to be made

And ray tracing is so small used that its not much lost if you don't get an nvidia gpu

Let's be fair.

The 7900XT and XTX are roughly the 4070Ti and 4080. The 4070 Ti definitely didn't need the 12vHPWR cable but Nvidia just didn't want to bother, so L for Nvidia.

The XTX vs. the 4080 is a weird one because the 7900 XTX actually beats the 4080 for rasterization (raw) output even at 4k with less power....but then is absolutely decimated in Ray Tracing which is where the juice sucking comes from in the 4080 and why it wants the 12vHWPR.

Of course the 4090 is the 4090.

The Adapter is pretty bad, but I believe the ones that actually come with one standard are good quality and don't have the adapter issues.

The one that came with my Silverstone is pretty nice, even though I don't need it.

that only macs and phones have made any serious not-half-assed effort to switch, well -shrug-

tbh the usb-c things are starting to get common enough I'm pissed off my monitors don't have usb-c ports 😄

the best/weirdest part about the usb-c connector is it can be powered by a half dozen different usb/thunderbolt controllers so it doesn't guarantee thunderbolt speeds or anything

on a lot of phone connections and a lot of usb-c cables, you can expect usb 2.0(!!) (not 3.1 or 3.2) speeds

No, you just need something that supports higher Volts or Amps

If you look at a wall adapter it usually has several modes on them from 5,9,12,15V and sometimes 20V

The higher the volts it can negotiate a connection for, the faster your charge will be.

And better than a $1 USB-C cable

The GaN ones (Gallium Nitride) are the newer style that can be a lot smaller than standard charging blocks
