Damn. Im on a holo streak
ya that's SSD, steam deck uses that form factor, also wificards in laptops
Wifecards? 😳
wifi card

Why bother paying a premium for a 2230 and putting it in a desktop?
fork supreme
Clever idea, at least. I don't know if I would have thought of that. Holds it down while being thin enough to allow it to radiate heat instead of say a stick of wood or cardboard
should have used it to write this worthless article
Just call me Karen
engineer missed an appointment today, so I called to complain
getting £26 for the missed appointment
but the woman I talked to dug into my account and credited me over £225 for a fault from last year
the best part is it's BT and I don't even give a fuck about that broken connection because I'm using the new gbit anyway
fuck BT
very true
It's so easy to tell if I'm in the tech channel now lmao
aww yis realtek 💩
but I guess it works

mine is realtek too

sounds like gigabyte boards i've owned in the past
send them to Sarah, I bet she could solder on new ones for a lot less in about 5 minutes
or buy a hot air rework station for $50 and do it yourself
or use them as trade ins when samsung run a decent offer
i've done one before with desolder braid but that's annoying
alternatively look after your devices

yeah that looks more fucky than a usual port
hot air required
Mmmm. Hot air rework is the best kind of suffering for soldering tho.
Other than ginormous ground planes.
Those are pretty good too.
2 mins tops
I got a hot plate so itll just pop right off lol
I added a couple of mins for you to google that particular model
I have a soldering iron tip for my weller for usb C and MicroB that fits around teh casing of the connectors
cuz I had to replace them so often lol
Seems accurate.
I've never done much rework on USB-ports, so I'm not setup for them in particular.
no
yes
I wanna murder whoever did this piping
Torqued to the last thread with no pipe dope or tape

You can finally relive the experience
glorified search engine
update the driver or disable Energy Efficient Ethernet mode
yeah there was an update earlier this month to fix this issue
msi has it up. trying to see if it's on intel.com
MPG series motherboards offer carbon black color scheme for PC build, tuned for better performance by direct 19 phases VRM power, DDR5 memory with Memory Boost, Lightning Gen5 solution, Premium Thermal Solution, Wi-Fi 6E, 2.5G LAN, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2
hmm

https://youtu.be/ambaCzFTyo8 @deep sapphire oh no intel is destroyed

After a long, looooooong development cycle Intel has finally launched their lineup of Sapphire Rapids Xeon Server CPUs. But AMD already has some incredible chips i...
you are cringe linus
2 intel cpus loses to amd in most of the tests
not to mention costs more if you want same core count vs amd
at this point
intel ARC: Actual budget GPU
AMD Radeon 6000s: GPU for people who want more performance and fewer driver bugs than ARC , and have more $$
Nvidia RTX 30: Unobtanium
Nvidia RTX 40 series: "Yo dawg I decided to try this computer gaming thing out and bought a dual xeon rig with 5 RTX 4090s in it. Think it'll run cyberpunk 2077 at 60fps with RTX on?"
Redditors to the RTX 4090 chad: "Maybe. If you're using 1080p"
Other redditors: "You need a 4080 or faster to do 144hz on 1440p, otherwise just get a 1080p monitor"
i still wonder what kinda clusterfuck game can't do 144fps on a 3080ti/3090
Ask it how to have a working computer
I heard that during the first few days, chatgpt was able to write actual software better than those bloated overpaid silicon valley programmer types
but then wokeness won over and now it can't even tell you what the weather is
<that was major sarcasm>
tbh, I wouldn't count on Reddit for hardware suggestions. people really overblow everything there
my 3070ti mostly does that at 1440p
except for stuff like jacked up rtx in cyberpunk type shit
I assume they look at this from the point of. 1440p@144 with max RT which is alright fair
but tbh. people are looking way too much at "max settings"
the difference between high and ultra is usually like 5% difference in quality yet the performance cost is like 40%
some might give you a genuine objective advice but the vibes I get from r/nvidia are basically that people there really tend to overestimate the reality
also if I have to be real. out of Ada cards
only the 4090 is worth its money
4070Ti and 4080 need serious price cuts to be considered "viable"
but I don't expect it to happen. there are already rumors that NVIDIA might price the 4070 non Ti at 750$
Any overly big subreddit is worthless
Too many cooks
Checked the Nvidia store for funs, they only have 4080 and 4090 listed now :(
gonna stick with the 3080 10GB until the 50 series. either might pick a 5080 or go for a used 4090 (depending on the price and other features)
I thought about AMD but I just can't trust their drivers at all on Windows + need CUDA specifically
You better off to aim for the 3090Ti instead. since you have less RAM chips to deal with (both are still 24GB)
better OCing results and less heat
🤔
Option D: all of the above
that will be like idk, 100+ benchmarks if HUB decides to make another video with a lot of GPUs being tested
while very useful. producing those videos will likely take forever
Whaaat
they're likely making millions, just hire some staff
pay me
pay me $1 per !hank
logged
I would say raster+upscaling. FSR and DLSS are pretty much good ways to extend the lifespan of a GPU
that's pretty much how you can keep modern games remotely playable on old cards like the 1060/rx580 and etc
RT is certainly impressive and Overdrive in Cyberpunk looks amazing. but the problem with RT is that its not really viable for most people. so developers aren't making full use out of it
its a cool tech that we needed for a long time but that's a long process to go through
path tracing is probably the long term goal since ray tracing is too expensive relative to the end experience
no
I'm gonna steal Jensen's leather jacket
if that had normal wheels and tires and like maybe 2" more of ground clearance, I think I'd dig it.
also that front bumper's lines really don't match with the sides of that truck
So I'm thinking about replacing stock coolers at work because I fucking hate stock coolers
Should I just get the Thermalright Peerless Assassin/Deepcool AK620?
sounds good but might be annoying to size the case up (if it's to replace a hockey puck oem jobber)
just run the case without the side door
are they even running hot?
Both are fine. ID-Cooling SE 207 is also well-known, I believe. Just make sure your case have enough cooler space
I checked the cooler height. They should be fine, especially the Thermalright one
Plus I need to replace the paste used. I used NT-H1 and it's super viscous and PGA chips suck with them
Is the Steelseries arena 7 worth getting or should I just get the arena 3?
when things don't go thermalright, go thermalleft
heh
never saw this before
my favorite quirk is the system controller can drain the batteries down to the point you have to use a special external charger to get the batteries to work again lol
the feeling when the most basic binch chineseium battery management can do better than that
(oh but it can run linux!)
aside from the horrid looking lower case and the janky battery controller
I like the idea of a fully open source machine
hmm maybe not the firmware for the system controller or the motherboard 😦
or the soc...
oh wait the motherboard is a carrier board for a som
NEAT
be neat if it was pin compatible with a jetson som lol
!hank
that seems straight up impossible for 400$
not even the 4090 can do 8k well
what even is 2x ray tracing
idk
seems sus
Moderators of this server and tech channel, if I theoretically found an orphan sources of Caesium in the woods; can I keep it?
I’m laughing at 120 frames
There’s no way you’re getting that high while going for great graphics
would they actually use a tagline like NEXT GEN UNLOCKED? 😄
tried out link to windows on my android phone
ehh maybe this was a bad idea hahaha

why are you named after that trash architecture 😭
Because I am trash

shes cute
!hank
~sudo hank

lol for some reason I thought zeek was lewis for a second
😭
Dont think hes even in this server anymore
i only know DVI, VGA, the composites & the mouse & keyboard ports
displayport & hdmi are obviously known to most
man, what a throwback
or those lil' fellas
I remember learning about these still in school and then by the time I graduated, boom, outdated
Though fair is fair the replacement was already on the horizon
I have loads of scart cables
!hank
!hank
@cerulean talon oi you seen like the fella to ask, what platform do you recommend for a dedicated hypervisor box?
EXSCI and 10G Networking. Storage is on another system so the local drives can be literally a 2tb drive
Probably gonna host 10-15 machines
Depends on how much cpu you need and if they need any specific processor extension
About half of the houses windows infra is virtual on a esxi box running a 3xxx Ryzen and a 10gbe card
Fuck you really are me in the future
I'm basically doing the same thing but with a 5600x
-_-
Well. The 5950x isn't virtualized
It's the main nas instead :D
Tbh, consumer chips are fine for 99% of virt loads imo
Mines just dying lol
I am planning on swapping my last phys boxes and my nas to epycs this year if I land this job tho
So I was wondering if anything was new and better then an off the shelf 5600x
7003s are dropping like bricks in price
Not down to consumer prices, but more than cheap enough for my need of high grade internal infra
Amazingly, I knew all of those, except the apple ports
Beacuse fuck apple
Yeah, just throw a decent desktop chip in imo
Idk like I built this when I was younger and been upgrading it with AM4 chips till now
So I'll be basically redoing it from the ground up
Actually figure out what I was doing
I like Talia's setup for a small vm host, I'll pull out it's specs when I get out of bed
I got a couple of Thermalright Peerless Assassins in the mail today, gonna run Prime95 on an Intel system to see if it runs as advertised and if it truly is a Noctua killer
Runs like 600$ for the entire thing, and that's w/ 128g of ram
Lands you a passable xeon processor and 2x10gbe onboard
I'm tired of hitting a light switch and then HASSIO turning on a blender because CPU load spiked causing it to somehow magically misread my config YAMLs
Whatever the fuck I'm doing for xbee capture needs to be redone too
Slapped a sas hba in her, and got 8 ssds :3
Which I'm not looking forward too because I have no idea how it works
Maybe switch to z wave or something
My NAS badly needs a sas hba card
This is the core of talia
Embedded xeon, not the greatest chip, but ecc is 50ish for 32 gig
Yes
Has dual 10gigs and ipmi
Oh niiice
Mmhmm
Also has room for a self-powered sata boot drive
Then 5 built in sata jacks and a nice nvme port
Don't mind me, just future you here tempting you
I legit might build 1-2 more boxes in this spec soon for various support vm putposes
To support the big epycs
-_- there is no escaping this fate
The fact that you do not have a centralized server room scares me too
:3
I've always dreamed about having a proper rack room, but I end up just having a ton of systems everywhere instead
...it doesn't get better does it
It does eventually tbh
.....
You start to be able to get actually powerful systems, build the core infra to a stable point
Like a full network overhaul to 10gig helps, because now you're in a state where sharing data across hosts is less useful
Yeaaaaah
Questions like "oh, streaming this much data is annoying" goes away and you can centralize eventually
Only my main machine and Nas are in 10gig
It's what's letting me even consider scrapping a bunch of machines to vms
Bruh "is annoying" is an understatement
Throwing hundreds of gigs of data across the net regularly makes it hard
Now with dual 10gigs to anything important with dual 25s soon to the nas storage arrays
Rather then full net transfer, I just run downstairs with a 2.5 SSD and throw it into the toaster dock that's plugged into the NAS
It's really trivial to throw stuff anywhere
Open terminal and copy the files over
Yeah, we can saturate 10gbit regularly, but it's fast enough it's not worth moving disks for
The files are pre dumped into a loading folder so I don't have to find it, all I do is wake the monitor and press the up arrow to load the last copy command
-______-
Hopefully I hear about second round interviews in the next day or two
10gig I want please
Then I can go back to planning my 1pb nas
Fair, I assume to most mine is overkill
But like what I have now isn't...nice to me
I wouldn't know that feeling at all
...do we ever get satisfied with our set up....
....does the constant improvement stop
Do you really want me to answer that?
....

Yeah I always feared there's no endgame
Just fucking constant upgrades and tweaks
There is eventually, at least for me
I've had particular plans for years, and they're not unsimilar to some of your dreams
One day we will run out of Moore's law
Moore's law isn't the issue with our setupa
Then?
This is more about the joy and fun we get for the insane setups we want to build
Ah fair
its the constant obsession to live on the bleeding edge and finding ways to play with new tech and making our flow more efficient
Hey Codingway, build me a PC
By far and away, I have more cpu than I should ever need, except for the fact I love to push the limits and love knowing how hw works
If your in the us, I can just ship you something retired :p
Some day, yeah
Like good ones
It's on the Todo to eventually get an arm rig in the setup, as well as a power9 and risx
I want to get an arm rig but idk where to look yet
There's not much good out there yet
I do have like a pile of cyclone boards for development hell but nothing with actual processing power
The arm crowd needs to stop making so many different processor extensions, then I can consider it
Tbh, I figure I'm 30-40k away from my final form of computing setup for the next decade or so
Not including desktop upgrades
But for my internal infra needs at the least
This sounds insane but I think once I rehaul infra and barring from desktop, I don't think I'm gonna do too much vertical upgrades for a bit
I'm heavily fixated on ARM development rn and I would save up for a top of the line arm processor if there's a good one
Most of my cost is going to be ram and drives, cpus are cheap af atm
Drives man
64core epycs are like 2k rn
That's where I am at
I can't even shuck anymore because WD/Seagate is now using none sata drives
My want for 500tb of ssd flash and 1pb of drives is gonna hurt
I don't know what to buy for flash rn
Then I might do a 256th nvme array
Afraid of Samsung with degradation issues and Intel drives are sooooooo expensive
How do you guys get money for these anyway?
I work
Which would comfortably cover me for awhile
A lot
I work
LOL
What? I'm interviewing for an entry salary of 180k a year
We are both in STEM : P
People with my skills get paid thicc
Literally engineering/CS bs pay memes
I should learn those skills too
Last job I left was 250k
But their social alignment didn't track with mine, so I dipped
Shit, I never even went to college
Self taught
Well my yearly wage at my last job was... 3k
Imagine needing a license
Assuming I land it, the next job is sre/devops with internal tooling dev in golang
I think I can safely conclude my issue is the country not the skills
nooooooo
So literally everything I've done for 15 years
GOLANG DevOps
Hey do not hate golang
They're a terraform/k8s shop
Besides, gonna work for/with old friends
I mean, I worked in Ethereum vm assembly for a couple of years, want to party?
Bleeeghhhh
We can try and decide who hates their asm more
I picked up a few of these for capstone
https://www.mouser.ca/new/intel/altera-cycloneiv/
Making a dev board for this is my current hell
As long as they don't pay in ethereum
I gotta get back into fpga land once I build out my future home
You ain't missing much
Idgaf, I move any crypto I get into usd within 24 hr of receipt
I prefer not to get fucked over by bullshit fees
And my school makes me use it
Though I might hold some in reserve for sqenixs next nft stupidity
Meh, the miner fee is easy to drop to 0 if you know who to call
Also
Pfft
You were right
That's easy
The Intel HPC library fucking SUCKS
I literally served as head maintainer for cryptocurrencies

Might as well get a sloppy toppy from Peter Thiel eh?
I'm a software dev, of course I know who to call in my industries
OneApi 👎
Hah
Fucking kill me
So glad I get to use whatever tf I want to implement stuff at jobs
The restrictions a school would put on me would probably make me kill myself
I'm glad I'll never become a software dev
Though I do kinda want to get a cs degreee
Use python and pycharm ide. It's better then C because we said so
I'd like to know more of the theoretical fundamentals in a formalized manner
I mean, as a python pycharm user, I'm okay with that
I gave up on software dev, was interested in OpenCV but most users are idiots who wants to test you on paper. Like literally write code on paper.
If you really wanted to meme, write it in c, then ffi it into python
What? 😇

Or, do the Uberclassy option
I'm glad I'll be hardware nost of my life
Add your own c library to python, so it's a native func
I recently got interested in writing my own game engine but no way I'm gonna do that alone without a million dollars on my bank account
I did make a small game engine in C
You can most certainly do it on less than that :p
Wasn't too bad
Lots of play game engines are passion projects
I'd just fry my own chicken, but KFC is mid here in vegas
Codingway you can stick with internal tool development and I'll stick with my RF stuff
also maybe getting HRT on the black market
RF and Arm cannot hurt me the way soft eng does
We find a way to form a demon child of a company, hmu
Oh god

I mean we could totally get into space industry tbh
True
Our skills do line up with stuff like low powered monitoring systems
I've got some contacts with astra? I think
And communications and stuff right
I'd have to see who's in the chats I know, they owe me a favor, maybe we get a reduced cost launch seat
I would just rely on the stuff NORSATS use
I need to do my ham studies soon too
Do you think computer vision has a usage in space stuff?
Not offhand, but I don't pay too much attention to space
I mean it's being used rn as we speak
I've got a cv project I need to get back to which could make some thicc cash
Because nerds are too lazy to sort TCG collections, including myself
In the fall of 2016 I saw my first rocket launch and little did I know that the satellite on that rocket would come to shape and fill my thoughts for many years. We're no strangers to getting data out of space on this channel, but GOES-16 is special, and not just because I was there when it left earth. Unlike the satellites we looked at in the p...
I can recommend OpenCV, I wanted to spec into augmented reality but school forced us to do self-driving car

Opencv is t powerful enough
Already played with it, I'll have.to do a custom model train
That's what we did too
Thankfully, my model set is really only a couple hundred thousand images max due to limited input width
Also if we get into space things ever, you'll have to keep me away from tasting the kapton sheets
We ended up with a custom built RC car that was self-driving based on signs and also could read Shakespeare.... don't ask
Why? Kapton is tasty
It's way better than pvc insulation
Also I can confirm kapton is yummy
Don't even get me started on low quality silicone . Blah
How to tell someones work on hardware, we've got tierlists for wire insulation
Still won't start
Oof, I gotta get mine on the lift and redo some suspension bolts soon
But yeah honestly kapton is an amazing stuff
You know the really really shitty like ABS insulation ones
That come from china
In cheap wire bundles
I can one up that. We had a 1m section of 400 pair telephone cable
That shit was naaaaasty
Aaaaaaaaaa that shit fucking sucks cuz if you don't strip it enough, and solder it to a board it melts and gasses the fuck out of you
400 PAIR????
Oh yeah, didn't China's rover stopped moving for the past few months?
Armored, shielded, grounded, the whole 9
How do you even terminate or solder that stuff
Without damaging the neighboring pairs
It was solid core from 20+ years ago
I'm an old man, alreaight :p
We also used that stuff for hookup wire for most of my childhood
\o/ my baofengs just shipped
You know what I use for bulk hookup or like bodge wires?
Baofeng?
Tri-band radios
I see
Mines from pre regulation
I've got a good Kenwood that's pre-reg and is actually /nice/
But I need some cheapies for using around town and events
According my liscence it can definitely bleed into the bad juju bands lol
Weirdly my amateur liscence was bundled in with my red cross training here
Makes sense, emergency services
I guess
I want to get technician eventually
No need for me
I don't need it, but I want it
Besides, I have to make sure future you knows what he'll you're in for
All of the Google microcerts
A full chip fab in your house?
I have some just chilling in my garage lol
It was free
Came with a college course
And I was like sure I just take it
I don't keep hf around, but I do keep high grade sulfuric
Oh, that's okay theb
*then
Hmm
Just a resume bolster
Cisco and I don't get along
Cisco and any network nerd born in this century doesn't get along
Can you repurpose a 3D printer as chip prefab?
Nah, you can do most of it in a spincoater and with some litho setups, like a mf camera
But you really don't want to get into etchibg and doping imo
Yaaaas, my boba pearls are being delivered today
Yeah, check out applied science
He did a full study on microwtching features using a mf camera for it's lens elements
*etchibg
He's normally insane
I should get back into watching applied science
Frontend is the only thing keeping me from the fs moniker
Do you know jscript?
For me it's mostly mobile dev
Fuck mobile, embrace responsive webapps
Yeaaaaaaasssss
Okay react
Thankfully, the next job will likely require 0 js work
I think I need to know more about ansible/Jenkins too
Which will be nice, I'm way faster at real languages
Idk if Jenkins is still used
It's not
Nerds
Jenkins is just integration anyway
There, I've added catgirls to appease the mods
I know Ansible is still used a lot
Oh gosh they're precious
Back to nerdy conversation
Ansible, chef, terraform
Depends on your taste and industry,
What terraform do?
Terraform is infrastructure as code, mostly designed to wrap deployments to cloud providers via an agnostic interface
Really, infrastructure as yaml
Lol
But to make devops people feel better, we now call yaml code
Yaml yaml yaml yaml yaml yaml yaml
MADE IN MURICA
How to sum up the last 5 years of software in one word: YAML
Yaml... the famous markup language

It's better than HTML imo
I hate yaml and Ruby
Excuse me?
I will remove !hank if I have to
HTML is fine
Tbh, html is fine when you realize it's just jank af xml
I will never forgive
!IMPORTANT
just casually storing lab-grade acid in my house for No Nefarious Reason At All
Kinda
I have not touched that garbage in years
I use it to strip copper marks from my silver jewelry in a pickling bath
Hmm pickled silver
did you need sulfuric and not, like, acetic? lmao
seems like a flex more than anything else
"I could use the cheap stuff, but nah"
💪
Yeah sulfuric is better for stripping the copper
Doesn't acetic disolve silver?
9 am time to take my estrogen with a monster energy
I do have 5 gallons of 99% acetic too tho
This is the way
Glacial, if you will
silver is wildly reactive and oddly insoluble in most solutions
so technically, yes
They're literally me
Trans girl power up routine.
Hey pray for a fellow transfem
But preferably in like Machine language
Better than my morning routine, I just get to see if there's any good contract work this morning before finding more jobs to apply to
There's like 2 gallons of water in it
Oof
Why
Hoo boy
🙂
10/10
Sarah moment
Do you get paid for this
I need more snow in my life. Worst part about living in vegas
Always wondered
Nah, it's voluenteer work
Kupobot seems like it's always in intensive care lol
I thought the worst part was the lights
Much more stable is relative man
Lucky
I'm 10-ish miles from the strip
So.... you're not in vegas
I'm in actual Vegas, though I'm west of the strip
But paradise, nv is where the strip is, not Las Vegas itself
I am smort
Technically, I think I'm in unincorporated Clark county
Which is pretty much vegas
Hey Codingway, you do realize you have to build Mr. House if a nuclear war breaks out
Right?
You think I haven't been getting ready?
Nice
Yo
First step is to build an ai catgirl
We should transfer our consciousness into a Intel 80286
Only if it's rad-hard
I'm not gonna let some spicy banana fuck up my processing with a bit flip
Mmmm
I'm okay ish with this option
I mean, I know, I wrote cod efor them in my teens that still works today
It's a pic, they never change
Isn't it great
I love that they are still used today for embedded applications
They literally do not go away
Yeah, tbh, I want to play with the 2040 more
I really want to make it my uc of choice into the future
Chad PIC vs Virgin atmega
Atmel AVR
Only cool thing they have is the weird fused pin allocations
The pio system on the 2040 is neat af to me tho
My professor I quote "I can tell who really works in the industry when I ask them Atmel or PIC"
Even if I'm too stupid to use it yet
Man
Imagine finding an Atmel chilling in the wild
Like none prototype application
Permanent installation

I dont have to, I have 3d printers
They're super common as rtos chips in those envs
That fucking sucks
Is there nothing cheaper for RTOS?
Well, a reel I should say
Not really, it's also the hobbiest mindset moved to production envs
Lots of 3d printer rtos firmware was written for atmega and worse, auctal arduino
Yeaaaah Atmel is definitely hobbiest mindset
Hrm, I might get myself a reel of 2040s to play with
I have the worst case of "build up projects while I work" then do them when I'm unemployed :D
Runs off a Cortex M33
Damn Canadians and your biases
I think RIM used a lot of QNXN so it bled to our secondary education
Tbh, I've never gotten into them much, iirc freertos tends to be the common-ish stomping grounds
Nothing I do needs rtos level precision
Tbh, if you need that sort of precision, I’d assume you’d be able to pay/afford for it
¯_(ツ)_/¯
Add that to the list
Of things to consider in the future
Lol codingway we uh kinda nuked this channel with tech jargon for the past two hours again
It's okay. I've been told I'm sorta staff
Like not real staff, but staff adjectent
TFW channel name is actually appropriate for once

Lateral staff
I'll fight for our right to jargon
Catgirl discussion
Kupo will back me up if need be
We love our short hand
Not a cat girl discussion without
RIGHT DRAINING MY GAS TANK
!hank
I really need to add some jokes into the hank command
Can you have it have a 1/1000 chance to post a pic of my OC
I need to do that w/ cleave auctually
Make it roll a 100 and have it post a HONK or HONK related meme instead of a cat girl

Throw me in the mix
Nah, Nissan for the extra hankness
I mean if I wanted it to be a good meme, I'd just put a Chevy in
The main issue is that hank is a global, multi-server command, so I have to be careful how much I play with it
I can write a wrapper that pulls Chevys from autotrader
I mean I could too :p
I WAS OFFERING HELP SMH
Also. CUTE!
🤔 so a honk would probably be the safer and still amusing option
Why doesn't it work on other servers then?

I was gonna ask do you plan on integrating kupo verify with the global role system?
Eventually
We'll see if eanae wants to go that way, the more important thing I the short term is that I'm planning out per-server characters
So you can have multiple chars in kupo at last
It's an api system, discord calls an endpoint on your bot to fill discorda side w/ data
It's kinda jank, but works-ish
Kinda jank workish is literally discord in a nutshell
The main issue is lodestone requests
How locked down is lodestone
As the api should use lodestone, which means I'd need to finish my distributed lodestone scraper
Uh, it doesn't have an api?
O
So we make our own from webscrapers
Nope
That would explain the update latency
...I mean how many requests does kupo do a day?
Every !me
:3 yikes
Is 7
It's htnl
you said kupobot was stable
I guess you didnt say it was efficient....
We need data from 5 lodestone pages +char image
So we need 6 html requests + the img pull
It's literally as efficient as we can get due to how bad square is
Tf is the hosting cost with all of these traffic from the requests
Even then, he's only using 2 cores actively of the 8
And most of m his cpu time is spent in decompressing json or parsing it
That's actually pretty decent
I could probably get it down to one core if I rewrite it all in golang.
And yeah, when you consider he's in 50k+ servers, it's p.decebt
But one of my goals with kupo is to leave it semi-maintainable for eanae and anyone else who works on it into the future
Which means golang is a nogo
Good choice kupo. Guess I should pretend to start my day
today is a big day for me
gotta shut down several production servers across two locations and patch
already running into compatibility issues bc of things

True this is a pure and wholesome channel

60s cd
This sucks
Gist is a menace
I think we're settling on 60s
it's in hankshell with a 1s cd
I know and I sure use it lmao
lol
!hank
Cute
yeah I like the sweet ones better than the lewd ones because it's not my kink, they're just cute
I think the script should be a 60 minute cooldown
and you can't talk while it's on cooldown
HUNGRY CATGIRL

finally replaced the shitty replacement psu that came with my dac/amp
no more noises when it is in standby
!hank
Imagine getting a brother when you can just get a bulletproof af HP.
Not wrong though, it's all about lasers if you want to never have to touch the stupid thing.
my 2014 samsung still kicking

CATRAIDEN
Does an m.2 SSD actually need a heatsink when installing it into a PS5?
need is a curious word
would not recommend running an SSD naked inside a PS5 since that space is closed off from air
I like [Function_Name] guess I will read about it in the documentation.
Documentation: [Feature_Name] is deprecated.
Java in a nutshell
i can't remember if i removed the heatsink or not...
or nvm, i think i didn't remove it
yeah nvm, it was for my pc i removed it's heatsink
I am using the Kingston FURY Renegade for my PS5
which has this, ultra-thin heatsink
Every friend I have with a job that involves picking up something heavier than a laptop more than twice a week eventually finds a way to slip something like this into conversation: “Bro,1 you don’t work hard. I just worked a 4700-hour week digging a tunnel under Mordor with a screwdriver.”
With recent next generation Nintendo hardware news last week - It's assumed that Nintendo will provide Switch backward compatibility for their next generation hardware. However, there are some technical hurdles that must be overcome. In this episode we discuss the concerns with backward compatibility and why I have some doubts that Nintendo wil...
making the new switch not backwards compatible, is the stupidest thing ever to do
why would you need to want to have to hold two switches to be able to play games from the same-ish platform
as like, nintendo ds games is compatible with nintendo 3ds
but nintendo 3ds is not compatible with nintendo ds
it is ok for it to not have full backwards combatible, but then the game must have a free upgrade path
to the new version
His theory is that if they are going to use the next Gen arm chip with nvidia
The code isn't going to be backwards compatible
both are arm's right?
So developers would have to do other fixes
It's based on how the switch loads the games
Each game would require software emulation
A simple solution would be to add the x1
ok, so let's assume it isn't backwards compatible at all.
then it should be appearant, that you should be allowed to redeem a free copy of the old game to the new system.
and, that the new sdk is easy to port over.
patching prod servers went pretty well despite a few hiccups, surprised this didn't turn out into an all day kind of thing so i left work early
rented out a storage unit to set up shop too, i think i might use it to finally build that pc i've always wanted to build among other things
couldn't use my place because i don't like the idea of building over carpet even if i could just probably tap something every now and then
!hank
I look up docs just to get an idea of what I need to do and then supplement it with youtube/stackoverflow
huhhhhhh
!hank
you rented a storage room to build a single pc?
And then tweak it if it's outdated stuff the guides are doing
Oh I'll be using it for more than just that, but building the pc is a start
I'll probably tinker around lots with stuff over time as I get more comfy with it
Kind of need to learn soldering too at some point
big plans 8)
but definitely starting out with pc build first especially while i study for this A+ thing-y
i bought those expensive study materials from comptia but it's not really helpful hands-on, they have simulated lab things but idk, i think i'll do better if I can actually build something hands on
YOOOOO
THIS I CAN GET BEHIND
FINALLY DISCORD
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaye
where is the pure oled one
It's been on mobile for a long time, I don't think it's ever coming to desktop because not many people have oled
yeah, ever since the "new" version, everything went bad. It was good before.
Wtf i have an OLED display on my phone, where is my pure black
tap dark mode 5 times to unlock oled experimental
Oh hell yeah ty
Laptop
