#

if all else, maybe we get something akin to the ole' Intel EXTREME Integrated Graphics

#

hahah perhaps that makes no sense

sharp star
#

holy crap why didn't I install Warpinator on Steam Deck until now

bitter girder
#

Yeah I’m chuffed about the intel cards improving more than amd cards

sly elk
#

it's really nbd either way. you either get somewhat solid performance to begin with, or get a good value card that gets better with time

#

or you buy it once, and cry once with an nvidia card haha

real edge
#

disappointing response times

#

but for 300$ its not that bad

sly elk
#

for $300 i just want an ultrawide lmao

#

300-ish*

#

there are some really nice IPS ones for like 350 now I think

earnest sedge
#

I need some help guys, so i cant connect my graphic tablet to my pc cause only 1 hdmi hole on the gpu, but would also be display port holes, are there any converters for that?

inland mauve
#

yeah

distant badge
#

if I set my game to 72 fps it drops to like 30... so my options are either like 100 fps (bit overkill) or 30. Is there anyway to lock it to like 60 or something?

#

this is in gridania at 144 set .

#

this is gridania with 72 fps set

umbral moss
#

almost all of that is nonsense in terms of bulk effects, but in the extreme microscopic realm, yeah, metallic grain growth is anisotropic and directionality does matter for orientation of magnetic domains

#

in terms of "will it make my audio sound better", no lmao

#

that shit is for like, "will I see a slight reduction in vdroop over a 5km run"

#

this is pretty interesting, looking at the tech behind chip manufacturing

inland mauve
#

ASML is a cool company

umbral moss
#

I went to their NL office in arnhem a few years back

inland mauve
#

they had a major security incident a few years ago where a Chinese spy walked away with a lot of very valuable and important IP

umbral moss
#

they're surprisingly rude despite the dutch reputation for being nice

inland mauve
#

now they have a huuuuge information security team

#

Dutch people have a reputation for nice?

umbral moss
#

certainly nicer than people from NY lmao

inland mauve
#

I thought we have a reputation for being sober and to the point

umbral moss
#

nah, these guys were pricks and being super pedantic

#

arguing with me over the orientation of the cmos pixels on their beam profiler being the One True Way

#

where I'm like "buddy, this is literally my job and the orientation of the camera makes 0.0000000% difference"

inland mauve
#

oh yeah you met the nerds

#

ASML hires a lot of students from the Eindhoven Universe of Technology and the Radboud University Nijmegen

umbral moss
#

these guys were russian

inland mauve
#

who don't necessarily have the best social skills

#

oh hmm

umbral moss
#

you can tell they were just trying to flex that they had a phd

inland mauve
#

cringe

umbral moss
#

like, listen, I have literally made over 1200 lasers in the last 12 years, I know for an empirical fact that rotating the camera to match the beam rotation is a hack to make a beam profile look good

#

it doesn't actually affect what you're doing with the laser

distant badge
#

so appearently after some googling ffxiv's fps limiter is fully % based instead of an actual fps cap which is super weird. So if you got 40 fps on 144 fps on 72 you'd get 20 fps

you can set it to whatever you wnat in rivatuner . I set it to 80.

#

instead of it being an actual fps cap

umbral moss
#

that's why unlimited is best but it will also turn your GPU into a space heater

distant badge
#

yeah im gonna try to limit it to 60fps in nvidia

umbral moss
#

also, there's an extremely amusing physics bug in the XIV engine

#

where the cloth and tiddy physics only work correctly at exactly 60fps

#

and any other setting causes it to wild out

paper tusk
#

man, I love computers

#

(parental unit shit herself over graphics going fucky. ram decided today was a good day to die)

paper tusk

#

my old build ram fit the bill so 0 moneys spent

umbral moss
#

real talk, that's easily the best star trek movie

#

although wrath of khan was pretty poggin too

paper tusk
#

prepare for ramming speed

distant badge
#

was able to make it lock to 80 by going in and capping fps in rivatuner

void dove
#

never use the in game limiter, its fucking broken,
Nvidia control panel is perfectly accurate for me.

#

also, suggest disabling gsync for the game, if you're playing in borderless window mode, otherwise it has issues detecting the right rate and causing the monitor refresh rate to bounce all over the place, at least on my setup, and a few other people i know.

#

better off just, capping the framerate and leaving it at that.

that thing probably weighs a shit ton so it probably wont be very fast lol

modest moss
#

homie you were gonna spend 70k on a toyota

sly elk
#

I think it's kinda ridiculous to think that the hmvee was made to replace the military jeep in spirit

deep sapphire
#

Yeah but that’s a modern truck not a death trap lmao

sly elk
#

then they threw a ton of armor on them and tried to use them as tanks

modest moss
#

who cares, just get a cool truck

sly elk
#

also, yea

deep sapphire
#

Those old Chevys have a major design flaw in that they put the gas tanks on the outside of the frame so in a side impact they can explode

sly elk
#

this si why i have a 2020 jeep and not a 1950 jeep

#

also the 1950 and 2020 are so far apart in shape & size that it's almost not fair to call the 2020 a 'jeep'

modest moss
#

well just take that 20k and throw it at your current truck

#

jazz that shit up

deep sapphire
sly elk
#

I mean, it is if you compare it to everything else

#

compared to a silverado, even a 4 door jeep is tiny

modest moss
#

pimp your ride

sly elk
#

but oldschool jeeps are like

deep sapphire
#

Jeeps aren’t very big, also modern Jeeps have the worst headlights holy shit they are so bright

sly elk
#

lol

#

I am aware of this 😦

#

I think the factory doesn't aim them properly, either

#

I just never get around to re-aiming mine

deep sapphire
#

Probably

sly elk
#

the problem is that the aim is annoying but then other people retaliate

#

there's an intersection here where there's a little bit of an incline on one side

#

pretty much every time I get stuck there someone on the other side blasts their high beams into my eyes

#

i used to turn my lights off for that but one time someone in a merc made a point of doing it and flashing their lights and stuff

#

fuck that dude

deep sapphire
#

Lmao Ford Super Duties are the absolute worst

#

Like wtf is that shit made of cyclops rays

sly elk
#

the worst is when people stick hid/led lights into housings not made for it

#

by far

deep sapphire
#

yeah shitty eBay mods

sly elk
#

also the new lights, despite that, are omg so much better than the old ones

deep sapphire
#

Sometimes I don’t even blame people in ways because the eBay listing is just like ???

sly elk
#

iihs described the lights that jeeps used to have until 2017 or so as legit dangerous and I 100% agree

#

they were BAD

#

but up until then they didn't really change the design

#

the only change was going from sealed modules to ones where you can change the bulb

umbral moss
#

I've been considering getting a rally light bar for my subaru and using it to blind shitheads in truckzillas with HIDs

sly elk
#

lol

#

i approve of it

#

but light bars look douchey

umbral moss
#

yeah they do

sly elk
umbral moss
#

but they also let you aim 6 super bright LED pods directly into one little-dicked ram 2500 owner's eyes

#

fuck you and your HIDs that are directly at eye level with people riding in cars

sly elk
#

i do like the oldschool ones

#

with the smiley face covers ❤️

#

I have a feeling the people who used to do that kinda stuff drive a subaru now

umbral moss
#

likely

#

subaru owners tend to go for the ugliest shit they can buy

#

if I had a genuinely unlimited budget for fuel I'd go get a corolla GR

#

objectively superior version of the WRX

sly elk
#

I was thinking more along the lines of the quirky happy people who used to buy jeeps in the 90s

#

but there still are some who have jeeps, they started the whole duck thing

#

and you should see the people on the jeep forum who have a meltdown over the ducks

#

they're like

#

THIS DISRESPECTS MY MACHO RIG

#

HOW DARE YOU

sly elk

Right lol

jaunty light

consistently? no

#

you can use this menu but it's reset for me a lot of times because it's OS and not the app

sly elk
#

the problem comes when an app assigned to a device tries to play but the device doesn't exist lol

#

I've been wondering about that keyboard tray thing, Is it really comfy for people who play piano regularly? or do they use it just for midi and other stuff

#

cause it's not as adjustable as the usual keyboard stand/stool

#

I always thought composer studio like this have to be soundproof or at least sound engineer in such a way like wall thickness, no window etc, but It seems to be quite lenient as I see a window there

sly elk
#

I have no idea

jaunty nacelle
#

digital ocean refunded me $5

#

for what reason I do not know

sly elk
#

but I get the impression that most of these rigs are midi setups for playing riffs for tv shows or whatever

#

all the synthesizers on that desk suggest that for that person, this is true

#

but at the same time, having a dedicated piano setup takes up some extra space

#

that said, if you hang one of those piano drawers on an adjustable height desk, you solve that problem 😄

jaunty light
#

whats weird is that those keys are SUPER fucking deep

sly elk
#

oh that's a good point

jaunty light
#

like twice as deep as what a piano should be?

sly elk
jaunty light
#

maybe its because it doesnt have a front case to obscure the rest of the key body?

sly elk
#

I do find it interesting that its' a fully weighted, hammer action keyboard

#

i recall being told that learning piano on a midi controller is a bad idea because of the lack of weight/action

jaunty light
#

yes

#

midi action is awful

#

basically like a rubber keyboard vs mech

#

thankfully most digi pianos have good actions, cough roland

sly elk
#

yea! the piano I was thinking of getting sometime is made by roland

haha I know! when I was looking at amps I almost bought that boss katana because I noticed the roland tag on the back 😄

#

but I really didn't want a modeling amp (the kind that emulate other amps' sounds)

sharp star
#

Apparently the weird-looking PSUs from Corsair (the RMx Shift series) look good

#

About $165 in freedom dollars for the 850W on my side of the globe though

buoyant falcon
#

You think that at some point all TV's will come equipped with an onboard AI that upscale all older media to whatever the resolution is of your TV?

jaunty light
sharp star
#

It's Corsair, they charge whatever the fuck they want and get away with it

#

Also SEA prices on components are extremely dumb

sly elk
#

yea that's why ya don't buy from samsung direct lol

#

one plus side about corsair PSUs is you can sometimes get the braided modular cables cheap on amazon

#

it's more possible than getting cheap evga-style modular cables

jaunty light
#

at least their digi line is really good but shit

sly elk
#

yea for reals

jaunty light
#

all MFGs will go digi in the next couple years tho, analog i dont think can meet spec for atx3

sly elk
#

i mean, you can still get an rm1000x for 139

#

oh wait that's renewed, nvm

#

geez right now psus are expensive

#

it's funny how when one thing is cheap, the other things are expensive

#

tbh, watching /r/buildapcsales

#

the amount of deals has slowed to glacial speed

#

it's mostly SSDs

#

.. and AMD 6000 series GPUs haha

sharp star
#

my PSU is an Asus-rebranded Seasonic PSU

sly elk
#

is it that 850w strix one?

sharp star
#

Yep

sly elk
#

when I bought my rm1000x those 850w asus units were going for like 129-139 or something

sharp star
#

Asus tax

sly elk
#

lmao the $105 price

sharp star
#

But since they're rebranded Seasonic Focus GX PSUs they should have no problem with just about anything

sly elk
#

white version

#

_what the HECK is up with PSU prices right now?

sharp star
#

And we're at the tail end of a silicon shortage

sly elk
#

I think they dialed back production and also they're trying to make up for loss of GPU sales perhaps?

sharp star
#

So uh yeah out of the frying pan and into the fire

sly elk
#

I still find it very amusing

#

how some parts get cheap when others get expensive

sharp star
#

How's DRAM and SSDs nowadays?

#

I haven't checked lately

sly elk
#

SSDs are really cheap

#

idk about ram

#

i recall hearing ddr5 had gotten close to ddr4 pricing but I haven't checked

sharp star
#

I recall hearing that the Asus/Seasonic 850w PSUs are 80+ Platinum instead of Gold for some reason

sly elk

I only use Windows bc my work requires so, and even that Imma not upgrade to W11

modern iris
#

I mean it can't take the PC 2 mins or more to figure out if there is an update on the server @ Microsoft or not.

#

I told my boss the day we are forced to upgrade to windows 11 I'm going to quit

golden stream
#

for corpo prob they won't force anytime soon(tm)

#

also many legacy system still run oldie windows like XP or so

modern iris
#

I know. The call centre in the other building is still using windows 7

golden stream
#

W7 is nice ya

modern iris
#

Loved it. That's why my linux looks and feels like it. Normal users probably couldn't tell the difference.

#

Not as much spyware on the system and not so much bloat you never use.

golden stream
#

my potato laptop has 8GB memory, w10 uses so much memory just for junk stuff
linux: 8gb is enough lel

modern iris
#

You can change that in windows but it will make it slower. The reason why windows is using so much RAM is

  1. bloatware
  2. Usage prediction so it pre-loads stuff you might use and already has it in memory so it's going to open faster.
  3. Spyware / Corana / Bing(Windows search)
golden stream
#

and also ads/local news/kinda local ads

#

already opt them out but still can see it playdead

modern iris
#

Yeah. I have a windows install for some stuff I need on a separate drive and it's stiped down to nothing.
So search isn't working there is no edge and all the ads are gone too.

#

It doesn't even know it's online cause it can't communicate with the ms servers

modern iris
sharp star

yeah

modern iris

I couldn't even do that. Cause windows does now have a default driver for my ethernet and I don't have a wifi option on my PC. XD so I would have a problem.

Yep. But explain that to a casual user. Someone who let's say just uses it to brows the web and idk do some homework / work on it and does not need an extra account. Just a decision that's not necessary.
Idk if you remember but back in 2011 I payed £97 for Windows 7 Pro
and in 2018 £140 for windows 10. Idk why they don't just give it away for free without the watermark in the corner. Cause all the bloatware that's on it and all the data they collect from you. Not going to pay for something where I can't even decide if I want to use an online account or not.

dull garnet
#

they've offered free upgrades if you have a win 7 key either way so...

#

not sure why you felt the need to buy a win 10 key too

modern iris
dull garnet
#

shoulda gone the hwid route

modern iris
modest moss
#

hwid is a script that tells the MS servers "Why yes, yes I did sign up for a free upgrade" and it gives you a legit key

modern iris
#

The problem is not that you can get around it. The problem is that the avg person who doesn't know about it is forced to make one.

modern iris
#

As I said. Not the problem. I know how to get around it.

modest moss
modern iris
#

Yeah but do they have to send 8+GB per month to there servers of usage data?

If your PC randomly loses power then resets in like a second can that cause issues

#

As in, electricity dipped for that one second

modest moss
#

it can, but it's usually fine

proven oyster
#

Just anxiety high

#

I shut it down for a few, but didn't disconnect and just turned it back on

cerulean talon
#

Generally the only concern with that would be a brownout damaging the PSU, as the CPU and/or bridges will shut down the PC with a low enough voltage drop.

potent arrow
#

Even then I wouldnt be worried, most PSUs are pretty hardy

#

The most annoying thing that can happen from sudden power loss is windows fucking itself, but that's easily fixable and very rare

cerulean talon
#

Depends on how bad the dropout was, but yeah, I've only lost 2-3 power supplies to that sort of issue.

#

Usually mine cook before they die to a sag tho.

potent arrow
#

I'm surprised mine hadn't died yet

cerulean talon

It just needs to be rated higher than your PC's maximum draw, which is probally in the 500-700w region.

proven oyster

Which means that's not a small investment sadly. Orz

potent arrow

APC makes decent cheap consumer ones

proven oyster
#

What even is their price point

potent arrow

Or be like me and use a Costco car battery and a 30$ car inverter

cerulean talon

You can get small ones for 50-70 US which would probally cover the power draw and give it a few minutes.

sly elk
#

Both the apc and cyberpower consumer ones seem to be crap

potent arrow
#

idk about cyberpower, but ive always bought apc for people and its fine

cerulean talon
#

They're nothing like a good prosumer unit, but for entry level "Keep my PC semi-happy and send it a shutdown signal" they're fine.

#

Sure, I'd prefer a pure sinewave rack unit, but I'm not dropping a couple of grand on one. :P

potent arrow
#

^ most people I buy it for only get one shut down a year

#

so its very much just fine.

cerulean talon
#

Past that: Sure, I'd love to have a megawatt of storage with a 50kw pure sine wave non-grid-tie inverter.

#

But yanno, there's practical, then there's reasonable, then there's dreamin.

#

And APC makes all of the above! :D

sly elk
#

A large percentage of reviews on the pure sine wave consumer units complain about f02 and f04 errors and popping and producing a lot of smoke

#

I made a comment about that on Reddit yea steady and someone mentioned they use aluminum wire on their coils for the consumer units

sly elk
#

the cyberpower one in particular is lovely because if you scroll down a bit you'll find an email where someone complained to cyberpower and cyberpower claimed the people sharing their experience were liars

#

We are aware of the video and we totally understand and appreciate that you brought it to our attention to confirm this. The person who posted the video offered no evidences to support his claims in the video as he only used assumptions. There were no presentation of test results or industry data provided to prove his claim. CyberPower products are UL listed for safety and the rubber glue we use is also UL listed. Finally, CyberPower has thoroughly tested the rubber glue we use, and our results are aligned with industry information meaning there is no danger of the UPS catching any unfortunate events or shorting out as a result of the glue. The results debunk the claims being made in the video.

sharp star
#

can we stop having fires

cerulean talon
#

No.

#

We want more energy in less space.

sly elk
#

ya know in terms of UPS, I'd prefer a larger one that was safer and easier to service

#

I've pondered just getting a rackmount from one of those office liquidator places

#

and just putting new batteries in

cerulean talon
#

They're super nice.

#

I love the ones w/ external batteries.

#

Because you can just hook up 12v car batts.

sly elk
#

the rackmounts have a battery inside, but you can buy external batteries for them.

cerulean talon
#

Not the ones we had. :D

#

240v, 60a-ish units.

sly elk
#

the problem with the apc units I'm thinking of is they often use a 220v connector

cerulean talon
#

So they were just the inverters and logic.

sly elk
#

yep

#

now if I owned the house, sure

cerulean talon
#

Then you just wire up battery boxes.

sly elk
#

I'd just get an electrician out to run 220 to my desk area 😄

cerulean talon
#

We had ours run us 80a of 120.

#

Because 240 is a PITA here, and the UPS would have been more than it's worth.

#

I keep swearing I'll clean up this computing area some day.

#

((Yeah. Right.)

sly elk
#

I like how that has a jack for 48v in

cerulean talon
#

That's not unusual.

#

48v DC is standard in telecom.

sly elk
#

also there are cheaper ones on ebay but they don't have the battery pack

#

like that one does even though it's empty

cerulean talon
#

Not enough power for me unforuntately.

sly elk
#

I don't disagree but

cerulean talon
#

I really need something in the 10kw range or so.

sly elk
#

I think 1500VA is about as far as you can get off a residential 120

#

and I'm talking about for home xD

cerulean talon
#

So am I.

#

:D

sly elk
#

and you need 10kw?!

#

do you run a data center in your basement or something? haha

cerulean talon

There's about 7kw of max load above my head right now.

sly elk

hmm?

#

are you trying to run your AC off it?

cerulean talon

No. That's just PC's.

sly elk
#

yikes lol

cerulean talon

sly elk

i like the fibre network stuff

#

but there's sooooo much

cerulean talon
#

Yeah, that's the 10gig back haul to the upstairs gear

sly elk
#

this seems like the perfect setup to have in a rack

cerulean talon
#

All the machines up there run lacp 2x10

sly elk
#

except, I guess rack equipment is more expensive

cerulean talon
#

The issue is space here

#

A rack footprint doesn't fit well with the cooling of the house

#

When I move next, the machines will likely be built into a custom rack room

sly elk
#

so what's upstairs?

cerulean talon
#

Main router plus a couple more machines for the bedrooms, mostly lighter stuff on 2.5 gbit

#

We're prepping to go to 6e in the house for WiFi so everything networking wise needs to be 10gbit min back to the main nas storage arrays

#

Err WiFi 6e

#

Throwing software projects across the network and remote builds are way nicer with 10gig

sly elk
#

i bet

sly elk
#

that's not far off from how i clean my computer lol

#

I take the shell off and then carry the frame outside and blast it with canned air. I've been meaning to buy an electric blower

#

canned air is super impractical because it gets frozen and loses pressure way too fast

outer sand
#

yeah, I use hairdryer cold setting, but maybe not the best but I'm so cheap I don't want to buy those electric blower haha

sly elk
#

I think ryobi might make an 18v one+ blower that would do ok for computer stuff (they're all meant for leaf blowing lmao)

outer sand

those hairdryer is often have a high wattage depends on the usage if it's designed for female hair

sly elk

but i kinda want a milwaukee one

#

ooo they make them

outer sand

ah yeah size also matters, I won't buy it if It's too big 👀

sly elk

I still need to go crack my o-scope one of these days to get the high bandwidth options.

potent arrow

Im never really too far from my station

#

mmm I just replaced mine with a new sigilent

sly elk
#

if I needed to do something that hardcore

potent arrow

mine was used but holy fuck it was still like 15k cad rofl

sly elk

as it stands i waste my 888d :\

cerulean talon
#

I ended up getting a saleae for all my desktop signal stuff.

sly elk
#

anyway, that's your living room

cerulean talon
#

So that replaced my need for a nice scope for signal probing.

sly elk
#

i'm actually a little sad you don't have a wider angle pic now XD

cerulean talon
#

I can take one of the other side here in a bit, the other pic I had of my side is just a mess :D

sly elk
#

also which of these desks is your main desk

#

or like

#

are there other people who use the room as well?

#

because I see at least 3 computer setups

#

one with 3 monitors, 2 with at least 2

cerulean talon
#

That desk is my roomies, the one to the left of his is eventually his wifes, I've got 2 on the other side, one for my desktop, one for my 3d printers and the SSD nas.

#

That's 1 setup with 5 monitors.

#

:P

sly elk
#

LOL so

cerulean talon

I've got 3 4k's on my side, he's got 7 1080p's.

sly elk

your computers are in the back?

cerulean talon

Yeah, that garage rack can hold 2 full ATX cases back to back easily.

potent arrow

sly elk

cerulean talon

cerulean talon
#

Not quite, but most of what I do.

potent arrow

16 digital channels pog

cerulean talon

Some of the fastest FPGA work I deal with can push signals a bit faster.

#

But that's rare I'm ever having to debug that.

#

The saleae trumps those channels all day lon.

#

Used to be 400$ cheaper when I got it. Software suite is /amazing/

potent arrow
#

oooh thats nice

#

when I need more channels for slower stuff I whip out my analog discovery 2

its kinda...shite

sly elk

salaes are great

cerulean talon

potent arrow
sly elk

so that you can use it with a floating ground :]

potent arrow
#

dont need this anymore

#

but it used to be a huge part of my kit

sly elk
#

oh yea

#

I remember wanting one of those

cerulean talon
#

The main use for the saelae is to debug CAN and other vehicle busses in this hose.

cerulean talon

I always like in the car world "Well yes, it CAN work, but it won't"

#

And they're right.

potent arrow
#

very right

#

only thing I appreciate is how long the bus can go

#

I2C pisses me off because its so short

(not extended CAN or whatever that offshoot was called, fuck that garabge)

cerulean talon
potent arrow
#

Please tell me thats not my fate

cerulean talon

Top one's my desk, my rig's the far left white one, then it's my FPGA/GPU rig, then the jump/bounce/internal router boxes, down to the right is the secure NAS, then the SSD nas.

cerulean talon

Second picture is looking towards the front of the house, which has my jewlery work bench, another rig you can't see on the floor (Epyc dev rig), and my roomie's old 1950x build.

cerulean talon

cerulean talon
#

Oh yeah, and the giant cardboard box is a lip for a fender.

sly elk
#

"I have enough crap and I'm not going to pick up another thing"

cerulean talon
#

Nah.

#

When you own the house, you make it suit your needs.

sly elk
#

the funny thing is I have tools to fix jewelry and watches too lol

#

just kinda over the years it came in handy to have it

#

mine's just random ebay/amazon crap that I keep in a box in the closet, though

cerulean talon
#

Yeh, I chose it as a hobby over some of my previous ones (RC airplanes mostly)

#

More compact, more intricate work, better workflow in the house.

sly elk
#

looking at that brings me joy though lol

#

i'm like

cerulean talon
#

The blue tubes are the house's compressed air lines.

sly elk
#

i already feel like I might have too much gear in my life

#

looking at that it's a relief haha

cerulean talon
#

Which has taps outside every bedroom, 3 under the bench, and is hooked to the big garage compressor.

#

We used to have infiniband running between the garage and the desk zone.

#

But scrapped that when the cards got overly expensive and that use case went away.

cerulean talon
#

New gear was almost always a requirement once ryzens hit the market because they dropped a ton of CPU extensions I needed in my work.

#

The 3d printers and laser cutter, that's a bit excessive.

#

But some work, there's nothing better than a bunch of cores and a ton of ram.

#

10 gig networking becoming affordable auctually let us clean up some of the rigs. And more of them will disappear when the epyc comes online fully.

sly elk

that's good

Question about switching to ReShade: once I've got ReShade installed and GShade uninstalled, are the following files fine to delete from my game folder..?

GShade.ini
Gshade.log
GSInstLog.txt

I would assume so since there are ReShade equivalents in the folder now, but just want to check just in case since I know a lot of people have said that just uninstalling GShade alone doesn't actually remove a lot of the stuff it leaves behind..

#

yes (they are not related to how either shader program injects itself to your game of choice)

... and maybe that FFXIV Menu Shader.

How do I delete Gshade completely

#

I tried using the uninstall thing but it’s still there

proud gale
# green dune I tried using the uninstall thing but it’s still there

If for some reason you were unable to uninstall GShade normally, please manually remove the following files, folders, and registry entries:

 Core Folders:
%ProgramFiles%\GShade
%ProgramData%\GShade
%Public%\GShade Backups
%Public%\GShade Custom Shaders

For individual game installations, there are several folders and a handful of *possible* files depending on the configuration:
gshade-addons
gshade-presets
gshade-shaders
d3d10.dll
d3d10core.dll
d3d11.dll
d3d12.dll
d3d9.dll
dinput8.dll
dxgi.dll
GShade.ini
GShade.log

Registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\GShade

This is from the GShade developer, Marot, reposted on Reddit.

So I just delete the folders and files?

proud gale

#

Where do I delete the registry files?

proud gale
#

Press WIN + R, type regedit, press Enter.

green dune
#

Also I don’t see a folder with gshade in my program data folder

proud gale
#

In that case it might have been uninstalled from the Uninstaller - if it's not there, that's fine. Less to delete manually

golden stream
#

It's in directory C-program file-gshade, or in the gamefile folder

#

Double check just in case

green dune
#

What’s the directory c program file gshade?

golden stream
#

This is the directory
C > Program File > Gshade > backup the shaders folder, do NOT delete the files according to the instruction (I f-ed that part lol)

#

Else, can migrate to Stormshade, as Stormshade is a fork of reshade

green dune
#

Ok I think I removed gshade

golden stream
#

Ah

#

Welp, time for me to nuke gshade haha

#

Tho I nuke Windows and distros for breakfast so haha
