XD

also, when you do limit fps, you save a bit on your electricity usage
Oh nice then
Im confused tho my ex bf once told me to not limit it
Because that way it won’t use it’s full power
And less fps that way
if you play e-sport games, then yeah, then more fps the better
Only in thing like csgo or rainbow six siege
need that 0.001ms mouse response time to press that ogcd ability
😂
Anyway I’ll do a test when I’m home
I’ll play another game
And see if I crash if not
I’ll go ff
And then limit fps
ff14 goes full throttle on my gpu if i don't limit it
And see if crash happens
If it happens
Still
It’s cpu
I can see that XD
But that’s why it’s weird
Because before patch didn’t do that
And wasn’t limited
i have no idea

We're reviewing the Intel Core i3-13100F CPU, which is the same as the 13100, just cheaper and without the integrated graphics (IGP). The i3-13100F is one of the most compelling budget options right now, following-up Intel's 12100F prior budget champion. Our benchmarks and tests ...

If you look closely at the connector, you can see a line where it looks like it wasn't inserted fully or had wiggled loose. The line is also uneven (comes lower on the right than the left), so it was probably at an angle.
at this point I'm wondering if it's a design fault, a user fault, or a combination of both
Because if you plug it in all the way and not at an angle you don't get that problem at all
my 4090 adapter hasn't melted so it's pointing towards "skill issue" for the CableMod adapter owner
l m a o
imagine buying aftermarket cabling
i mean, it 'supposedly' was supposed to fix the issue of it burning up
only to find out now later it was all just user errors
For SFF peep, aftermarket cabling enable better thermal and better cable management tho
And aesthetic
So......
Tbh idk about the whole cable meling anymore, it's like a whole combination of user fault and design fault
it was probably more tolerable with using more cables, as if one cable was partially inserted, the power it would attempt to draw wouldn't heat up that much
maybe the cable spec is dogshit if there's a non-zero chance of the connector eating shit and melting if you don't insert it the steve jobs way
like, you have to expect the user to be somewhere around a rotten turnip in intelligence, so why the fuck did you design a cable that needs to be installed after solving a trinary body gravitational equation
isn't the cable spec literally just the same, just it has less cables, but draws more power?
apparently not, since every cable has a non-zero chance of catching on fire if it's not perfectly aligned and inserted
that hasn't been a problem for other high power cable connectors
the 8 pins don't eat shit if they're misaligned or a little loose
it's like, the same issue could have happened to with 3 cables, but due to it's lower power draw per cable, it doesn't catch fire or melt
what I'm getting at here is that you can't design a connector that has loose mating tolerances if you expect to be passing 400 fucking watts through it
it should be a sure connection every single time
yeah, it shouldn't have been using the same type of connector that where you need to have 3
12VHPWR cables scaled up to something like an EV battery connection
instant lithium fire, every time
everybody loves lithium fires, right?
Issue was that the cables themselves weren't designed to be inserted easily
So it's not unreasonable to assume that someone will fuck it up slightly down the road
and that's where the issues started
I have the oldie 6+2 plug, lucky me my PSU is modular, plug in and out does ouchie finger but not an issue, as far as a click it'll be good
Seeing the new one kinda raise me a few questions for the design, and even more concern for a dark case or SFF case :/
it's also the fact that the cable design doesn't account for any bend to the wires going into the crimp at all
OH F THAT
the minimum distance before you can bend the wires is something wild like 10cm
so it works great in a bench top test fixture, but literally no cases let you do that
that's a huge case of "we tested it in a lab but didn't bother to consider actual use applications"
It's worse in SFF case as the bend point is literally.......right near the connector itself
yeah
Not count the accessibility and cable routing
Yeah
you couldn't even make it a right-angle and parallel with the side panel, because there's still no room for the stupid cables
if your crimp is so sensitive that it can be pulled out by a small amount of tension on the cable, your entire pin, connector, and crimp topology is garbage
Reason why my next gpu upgrade is just 3060ti lmao
6+2 connector is dum but rather dum than risk on fire, esp for a SFF
Tho I haven't peer deep into the recent connector but man the design is questionable
I'm sure they'll redesign it
they can't be stupid enough to stick to "you're holding it wrong" for two generations
even apple fixed their antenna design after they found out the design sucked

waiting for Asahi on m2, could be p fun
I'm interested in seeing how the M2 pro performs
since my girlfriend needs a new macbook anyway
and she doesn't do anything but actual work on it so it doesn't matter that it's still dumb ass no-gaming macOS
too bad microsoft wouldn't commit to making windows on apple chips, so no dual boot
or a surface with actually good battery life
Wasn't the only OS that ran on ARM based be Windows?
yeah, microsoft has tried to make windows on ARM like four times
At least we have Asahi now but still not sure about m2 stuff yet
and each time they make it less available to the general consumer
windows 8 had a whole specific ARM version (windows 8 RT), windows 10 had windows 10 mobile and that just kinda died instantly
apparently the surface X has an ARM chip in it but the performance is dogshit and the battery life sucks
Ouch
Seems the only win10 able to run ARM decently was w10s but then again, Pi
And linux works better on Pi
yeah, and it's also not exactly available, if you think about it
you have to go rummaging in the guts of microsoft's labyrinthine support system to find the 10s installer
W10s was obsure af
Even finding the ISO was a pain
I helped my fellow in IT dept, just to threw up and install ubuntu instead
2 outta 3 motherboard of mine won't support w11
oh wait, this is for vm
Oh vm
it just links you to this page: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/arm/overview for 'more info'
you'd had to buy a dev kit? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/arm/dev-kit/
LE WAT??
ah wait, they provide recovery images https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/surface-recovery-image
but i am guessing you still need a bootloader that supports that image.
oh, but you need a serial number too
basically, windows arm devices are only made by the manufacturer of the os, and you can't reimage it unless you already own their product
i am betting this is due to how there are nothing such as arm desktop yet
as in, modularity as in how intel cpus and amd
Mostly ^ and the IoT diy end is just too niche and they ended up using linux/android anyway
IoT is mostly dev kits and non-modularity, everything is soldered directly to the board.
you have to manufacture the device yourself
or buy a device
you could probably buy the chip itself, but you'd have to have it be used somewhere
Ya the ARM is non modular, and make thing by your own with ARM at home is not quite there yet
Email: It might take up to 24 hours for your new permissions to take effect.
User: Why can't I connect??? It's been five minutes already!
please I beg of you read your emails all the way before you contact IT
I have a nasty habbit of screenshoting my response ticket and then replying with it if they can't read lmfao
I had a ticket chain that's literally me and the user just going back and forth but all of my replies were screenshots
Do they try denying what they said previously?
siiiigh
FSD Beta 10.8 drives from Fort Baker to Fort Point with zero takeovers. My mind was blown watching this drive.
I'm fucking tripping he literally was just not on
reddit elon bootlicker:
For example, here's a long-ish drive with no driver input at all on city streets. Note, the driver here is fairly responsible and puts his hand near the wheel in tricky spots light tight corner and tunnels just to be safe.
fairly responsible to let a car drive itself around crowds of people walking on a narrow street

Just ask questions in the channel, or make a #952326072542847016 thread, you don't actually need to ping people
Anyways
All these other nerds are tech professionals pretty much
yea I'd love to offer help for ffxiv issues but I haven't had issues yet X_X and that's normally how I end up learning how to help others 😄
fr i've played on and off for 8 years and my launcher has never gone bad
Yesterday when I was moving an entire folder to my HDD my write speed was 24.2 MB/s, I put my PC to sleep because RGB fans were keeping me awake which paused the transfer, I just unpaused it and now they're going at 128 MB/s
Why

🤷♂️
hard drives have caches
could depend on the size of the files
size matters, too
plus where the free space is, and also where the items exist on the ssd
only large files will really reach your max throughput
SSDs usually have a number of nand chips (and the chips themselves are segmented into banks) and the SSD controller itself can usually read from multiple at the same time, which will speed things up
since there's a set speed for how fast you can get data off one segment of memory
See? Smart nerds in here
they specified HDD
iirc they were copying from ssd to hdd
on an hdd, fragmentation can slow you down (if the drive is in a fairly fragmented state) - where it writes a bit here, and a bit there, and the head has to move a lot
as dense as they are these days, I dunno if that matters
no
then beyond that, idk what I'm talking about 😄
I have no idea how to check the fragmentation of a HDD and fix it if it is because I haven't had one on PC in a while
^ yea it looks like it might schedule it weekly by default?
rofl the screenshot even says, sorry
hmmm i wonder what it was 😄
in win 7 i'd run auslogics or something
well, you don't defrag ssds so it probably disabled it as a hdd wasn't present at install
Probably true

My SSD hadn't been touched in 145 days
The size of the individual files affects read speed, as well as location on the drive. If the data is fragmented it has to seek all over. This is why if you're buying an SSD you will see info about sequential read/write vs random read/write vs 4K read/write
Even in a sequential write, lots of small files goes a lot slower than large files bc it has to write a new entry into the file table and other misc stuff for each file.
So it may just be that you got out of misc little LUA files and into meaty big texture paks
i was upgrading my MiSTer micro sd the other day and some of the transfer speeds were pretty funny, sheer amount of small files
Or putting the computer to sleep may have forced it to re-verify the existing files copied so it was just going over what was already copied
That's one of the interesting things about having the larger enterprise HDDs these days. They have so many platters they're actually pushing up to pretty respectable read/write speeds
The 20TB ones I think break 300MB/sec
My first SSD only did 150MB/sec heh

How do I get Edge and Discord and other programs to stop automatically snapping left/right when they're not full-screen because I snapped them left/right a while back to do things since no second monitor to run dual setups
you definitely don't want to defrag a SSD
that's a great way to burn through drive writes
I'll defrag you
Hi what’s up
When I open Edge or Discord and they're not full screen they automatically snap left/right
That calls for some acid and a torch I think lol
Then some penetrating oil...
Hmmm that’s weird, I think you can disable aero snap let me look it up
if it's liquid there can't be any more rust on it
Have you tried manually closing the windows while they're at fullscreen? It's probably just memorizing the window position from the last time they were opened
I don't close them any other way
Give that a shot
Or are you on windows 11
Win 11
No
But it's not from Aero Snap which I don't think I have enabled actually
I click the weird button next to the search bar
Well, that’s the only thing that would snap it to the side of the screen
Task View is what I used to snap them left/right whenever I wanted to see both for whatever reason
You’re talking about the minimize button I’m guessing
My guess is there is something wrong with that, I have zero experience with it though
Never even heard of it
oh wait
nvm I know what this is
but I dont really know much about it I never use it lol
maybe someone else can chime in
I think some of my windows might do that, but I just press Windows+Up arrow so quickly it doesn't bother me and I forget about it heh
@tame fulcrum I did manage to find some photos from yesterday's debacle...
Painters tape lmfaooo
Basically
And the new ones don't line up with the existing screw holes?
there are none
Fans for scale...
I guess for a more permanent solution you could get two-sided foam tape or glue gun
huh
sarah has fancy fans
LMAO
according to some posts in there
removing the top voids the warranty
The case is so packed, it ain't going anywhere
Tape was just there to hold it in place as I ram the side panels on
My friend had that problem. We both got theoretically identical 8TB WD Gold drives, but his always made a lot of random caching sounds etc
And mine I don't remember doing it much at all. Every once in a blue moon
I think the firmware is just too smart for its own good and is trying to rearrange files for faster read access
Couldn't you just set the power profile to have them spin down? Or I suppose every time you open explorer it spins them up then
I wonder if you hide the drive letter if it would still do that
Never heard my WD red
I'd have thought turning off indexing would stop most of the spinning up
HA!
that's why I hate mechanical hard drives!
macos does that too with drives that don't have system stuff. even if you haven't used it in ages, the damn drive will randomly spin up for a bit
doctor: so your labs all look great doc: ..we should put you on thyroid medicine me: "we were supposed to do a sleep study" doc: oh actually let's do that then but if you don't have sleep apnea you need thyroid medicine
wryyyyyy
either way if i dont have dumb as rocks techs when they do the PSG it should come back instantly
windows does the same thing. can have a drive with head parked and system will be like ok let's power down smiley face going to spin up again. completely disabled power management to fix that (and just have it spinning and doing nothing rather than wear out cycling)
Anyone know why the grass is static-y like this?
Kinda hard to tell cause poopy quality but hope someone knows
just prescribe me the drugs
the grass effect and especially the pop-in is a well known long term problem. it'll be fixed in 7.0's rendering update
it should really just be hard baked into the map data and have the engine decide how much detail to simulate (wind physics, quantity)
instead of treat it as objects that count against the displayed actor limit
they really just need to redesign the engine but we'll see if that ever happens
i doubt it. i get it's bullshit difficult but just replacing shader programs and lighting one at a time would really help
going forward render instead of deferred render would be a good 7.0 project since that's longer term
they're getting to a point where they'll need to redo the engine for some stuff so i see it happening probably around 8.0
there would be a lot more possibility if they'd update the engine
they'll either update the engine or release a new mmo (doubtful)
if going straight up new engine easiest way is to import the internal script/lua to UE or whatever and get that out of the way before porting map data
I HIGHLY doubt they'd ever use UE
and encrypt the program address space while at it as anti-botting measure
6.3 added packet compression from epic game dev kit so who knows
yeah but going full blown UE i'd bet money on them never doing
at least not in this economy
not ever, economy aside lol
they're more likely to use their own in house engine than UE
just hopefully not some half baked one like the current 😭
not sure luminous engine's actor limits
that would probably be the hard limt to anything really client side
Nomura convinced them to let KH run on UE.
😐
probably he got sick of his own designs being in development hell chasing technology

vs 13 is still better than 15 sorry not sorry
based on what i see of forspoken's introduction that doesn't seem like a high bar

24 gb ram
For recommend setting
Is just

24gb with ads using direct memory
Me be like
Wot
150-ish GB for storage, SSD recommend, ideally nvme
yeah, "high quality programming" at work
Me be like F U MY NVME IS FOR WORK NO GAME
and a gpu you start money on fire for
GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6800 XT 16GB or NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 16GB
(because of load the entire world in vram logic)
So unreal
Wait WAT
that's what ff15 does
Oh.....right
only dungeons are seperate zones
15 was quite a buggy mess
That makes me glad 14 be splitted to multiple maps and instances
yeah i got it up to 3gb once. right now afking in uldah firefox is using more ram than the game itself
Considering a map is already big (Sea of Cloud ffffffffff) + NPC actors + players (in case of hunt train) that's still less load than 15
My w10 machine of mine rn has only 8gb
14 only use like wat 2-3gb if at Limsa
It was worse at PSO2 tho esp afk at the base
But then PSO2 opti is weird
New genesis is even more weird
Imagine an MMO of last decade uses more GPU than MHW custom high setting
Me: WAT
nice
what'd you order
way too much garbo
?
a cookbook here, car stuff to make hank proud (?)
a 8tb hard drive
vegan choccy mix
Can be ya
Especially right now 😭
mood
8th hard drive ?
for my data hoarding problem
I only have one with 2tb for movie etc and it already never full
I can relate lol
Still
Unreal and 3d assets are so big the hecc
May need a big HDD for all of those stuff lol
@kind ginkgo it happened again yesterday
But on another game
So it isn’t ff
:/
The screen just went black
And pc restarted by itself
@deep sapphire
Did you check the temp
No I couldn’t see because it restarted and went black so
You mean when I turn it on today I don’t play till I see if it happens or not?
If possible, try to get into event viewer again and post the full log details
If it only shutdow on game heavy demand mean either you cpu or gpu have problem
RAM could cause it but typically you would get a blue screen of death
If ram or hard drive die you won't be able to boot window to begin with
Or bsod like hank said
Let’s take it one step at a time, grab that log report if you can and let’s verify what it says
Start from there
Wait hold on I think have it somewhere
I showed it to a friend before
Ok here
Idk what this means tho
On the right where it says filter logs
Set it to critical
System crashes will be a critical error
Which one did you get? I got the WD Gold bc it's helium-filled so it runs quieter
Okay, then select everything but information and show me if possible
Can’t now like I said once I’m home gonna see if happens again
Without playing a game
Oooh okay gotcha
Yeah try doing lightweight stuff
It’s always a conundrum with windows smh 🤣
I get this similar problem before and it was gpu overheating
Im not entirely sure it’s overheating related because they said once the system locked up and they restarted the PC the game played fine
I won’t rule it out but
It makes it a bit odd
It already pass warranty day so i just unpack it, reapply thermal paste and it fixed

Plus it’s a new GPU so unless it was just poorly assembled from the factory I wouldn’t expect it to be overheating
It’s a new gpu that my dad putted on my pc
I had other gpu before
So don’t think it’s that
It could very well be hardware failure, but like I said we need to take it one step at a time
The log report is important
Also i just remember that install rgb software can also break down your pc on window 11
Otherwise we’re just guessing
Ye but this didn’t happen only on ff so
Yesterday happened when I played valheim lol
I have to removed asus armory program because of that
I understand, it’s just you stated your whole PC would lock up
Windows should be logging that
If it doesn’t that’s weird
What brand is the gpu btw
3060 ti
I mean the manufacturer
Oh it’s ventus something
Ah msi
Ventus is msi?
Yeah
It the lower rank
Aaaa
Hopefully the card isn’t defective, it will be covered under warranty but it’s a pain not having a GPU for a little while
But yeah, just post a screenshot when you get home
We’ll figure it out

Yeah
That’s why logs are essential, just like working on a car
Pull the codes see what it says
Just hope I don’t need to replace

replace every single part and you better hope it is fixed
It should all be covered under warranty with how new it is but with so many inconsistencies like restarting your PC and then the game runs fine I am not entirely sure it’s a hardware defect
Ye it basically restarts by itself once
i reccomend 7950x since it is so cheap
And then it’s fine the rest of the time I’m on it
We call that Parts Cannon in the auto mechanic industry

It could be anything honestly
Bad driver, software conflict, windows, hardware
On windows 10 never had that problem
one attempt is to just completely reinstall windows, and see if you can play ff14 normally
You mean windows 11? Or go back to 10?
11 first
Well if it does happen again ik for sure it isn’t windows anyway
It’s hardware
If I do a re install
Also, linking this https://ninite.com/
So isn’t cause it’s 11 i guess
Have they ever added anything new to ninite haha
I use to use it like 10 years ago but I noticed they never really added anything new
uuh
there is winget as an alternative
🤢
hey, it's just nanite but for commandline, but you have to write the programs you want
i'd probably use chocolatey if i wanted a package manager (i don't)
Apt package install
"sorry, you need to enable wsl to use this command"

winget isn't a package manager tho
The Windows Package Manager (also known as winget) is a free and open-source package manager designed by Microsoft for Windows 10 and Windows 11. It consists of a command-line utility and a set of services for installing applications. Independent software vendors can use it as a distribution channel for their software packages.
who wrote this
Bill balmer
the combined consciousness of the interwebs
oh wait, there it is listed in their docs
hmm, nvm, it can also uninstall and upgrade
We solved another problem tech
so it is a package manager
Proud of you all
a british study on why people are afraid of technology
i thought winget was more as a download repository, and that it just hooks up to the existing windows installation system
it's like calling yay (pacman helper) as a package manager
or yaourt or pacaur or whatever they are making 100's of
the winget experience
skill issue
wd blue because once everything is moved over not much is going to happen
it'll be a storage drive more than anything and have my secondary m2 as a work drive
and i would rather have a basic warranty than both try to get a deal on an external drive and shuck it cleanly
the 8tb is the only blue drive to have CMR
At CES 2023 Gordon had a chance to chat with Seshu Madhavapeddy, the Founder and CEO at Frore Systems, about the company's solid state cooling device - called AirJet. In this interview Gordon asks about how AirJet works and the practical benefits of solid state cooling in devices like laptops and SSDs. Could this be the future of cooling?

@vague snow Do you have a prebuilt PC or one you built? And this is a new GPU you just bought replacing which previous one?
This is ludicrous
My gut says this is a power supply issue unless the GPU is defective
The pc isn’t pre built I choosed the pieces and ppl on the store assembled it for me and I replaced the gpu with new one ye
My dad putted it on pc for me
What wattage is the power supply?
650
This airjet thing is insane
Do you have auxillary power connected to both those plugs and into the correct GPU plugs on the PSU?
Mountain View, CA – Jan. 19, 2023: The Computer History Museum (CHM), the leading museum exploring the history of computing and its impact on the human experience, today announced the public release and long-term preservation of the source code for the Apple Lisa, including its system and applications software, as part of its Art of …
Not at home to see but I think so I remember all those things being plugged
Also in your opinion guys what’s the best free antivirus software?
Okay, well I would double-check that when you get home. Both have the correct number of pins connected and that they're connected into the plugs on the PSU marked VGA
It's not a virus
I saw on google it could be a blaster virus
Which makes pc restart by itself shortly after booting it
Which is what happens
I boot it and then go play
And few mins later this happens so
IMHO it's either power or thermal issues
Well I have cpu for more then 3 years I think
And never putted paste
Since I got it
🧐
Window defender and common sense
thermals as in something is getting toasty from ventlation. I'm leaning towards flaky power supply
Windows defender is already in my pc
It’s built in windows
🤣
I did do a quick scan yesterday with it
would want a multimeter and see what the rails are looking like
And theres nothing
Could be wallpaper engine or razer
What is the CPU?
overlays gone wild usually just crash games, not the entire system
Antivirus are honestly fairly obsolete, the Windows Defender built into windows is fine
The vast majority of people getting something these days are either being phished or getting a bespoke malware compiled recently that will go undetected
Unless you're opening random email attachments its really really unlikely for the average consumer to get a virus these days
Or downloading warez or something
Warez?
yeah malware rigged keygens
cracked software/games
the old ms word macro that downloads ransomware still hits a lot of victims though
My last job we had Symantec AV and 50% of all detections were added to the list within the last 24 hours
stolen driver certificates is becoming the APT vector of choice though
The best defenses these days are actually heuristic rootkits you install on yourself that inject into all processes and check for malicious looking commands
(apt: advanced precistant threat)
the problem is that as the baseline gets better, internet criminals have to use more advanced techniques as a baseline too
I'm 95% certain that won't help and shouldn't be your next step at least.
and Living-Off-The-Land attacks are also increasingly popular, where the malware takes advantage of things that are already on the computer
sometimes even components of the very virus scanners that were supposed to prevent it
I would check those connectors like I said and possibly RMA the GPU.
yeah or ones that unpack in memory space as to not leave a file with a signature for traditional AV to detect
3060ti power draw googling says its 250W, so even if the CPU used 200W they should still have decent overhead
ars has an article on dns redirect malware
but yeah this sounds like more of a hardware issue
I agree that you should check all connectors
return merchandise authorization
Exchange it for a new card with the store or manufacturer
Let’s give 20 different solutions cause that’s not confusing
You said the restarts happen only when gaming, correct?
So far yes
So that tells me it's either too much power draw, thermal issues (less likely) or defective GPU
was it again that it is a complete restart?
It changed basically like before yesterday it was completely frozen the game nothing was working I had to force restart
what power supply is in it brand wise?
My 3060 Ti is 200w
even if the gpu disconnects, it wouldn't cause a restart
About 180w undervolted
I actually had 1 game that could semi-consistently hard reset my system
Was a game called Before We Leave and within like 20-60mins I would have it literally hard reset the system
Stopped playing that game and it never happened again
skill issue
the objective was beating the game before you got a hard reset
Yeah, which is why I think it's more a general power draw issue or defective GPU
one of my laptops started breaking down after I played Evil Genius on it and it caused a massive crash
speaking of that
tfw most of it isn't from games but popular softwares like Adobe suit, MS365 suit, etc
By power you just mean psu or cpu? Or both?
power draw = PSU
Or try to install a utility like MSI Afterburner that tracks CPU and GPU thermals
Makes more sense to be gpu then
^
Since psu never had problems for me
YES MSI afterburner my beloved
I use it to track clock + thermal for both cpu and gpu tho
Actually tbh
Even before I got this new gpu
When playing
Sometimes not common tho
I would get small freezes
🧐
But then game was back to normal
Like you get CPU stuttering and then it’s normal?
It’s basically like all gets frozen but at same time the sound and my character would be like idk how to explain
I dunno what quality your PSU is. If it's only a bronze that means 80% efficiency so your 650W only has 520W available. And if the GPU takes up 250 of that and the CPU takes up 150W under load and misc other things in the system like fans and lights and drives add another 50-75W you could be at 450-475W out of 520. That's starting to push it. And if the PSU is older it may have lost some of its max wattage
PSU failure is hard to isolate without having another PSU to use
That does bring up one other thing: Did you connect the auxillary power for the CPU on the motherboard?
can limit draw wattage of gpu stabilize the power push?
That idk it’s my dad who putted it
oh
The only semi decent way to tell if a PSU is failing is to check each rail and see if it’s wildly out of spec
But basically the sound and and my character will be like trying to work in place
As in ta ta ta ta
These type of sound
the sound gets stuck?
that's what I've been trying to rule out
cpu
cpu unable to decode the audio, causes audio stutters
ya cpu likely
had this happen with my super old cpu that was too weak for bad company 2 and those exact issues happened all the time to me
3600 should be plenty tho
So cpu is worse now then
3600s have been dying like crazy lately
lol
Seen numerous YouTube videos about it
I gave my pal my 3600, still work fine
should, if it works right yeah
the only other thing i could imagine is a failing drive
feels 3700x man
3600s? what bout 3700?
I mean, that sort of stutter lock is common in game crashes. I dunno if you blame that on the GPU or CPU tho
i got my 5900x for 630 usd
Unfortunately most places will probably charge you enough money to diagnose something like this, you would be better off just upgrading the CPU if it comes to that heh
an i9-13900k costs 850 dollars
My 3600 still work fine
imo event viewer can give you better insignt

Far too many cooks in the kitchen
Local place wanted $200 just to diagnose a POST issue for me, so I told them no thanks lol
Well I’m just gonna see when I’m home
In what country? I got mine for 580
norway
Hank can I still see logs from yesterday?
5900 is only 450 usd here
Windows will keep logs recorded indefinitely

I see... well they're like 580-630 in the US
Ok then I’ll just go back to yesterday when it restarted
import taxes is like 25% of msrp
And show it
I don't understand the point of import taxes on products your country doesn't even produce
Yep
You’ll have a much easier time finding the fault
it is whenever you order something off the web, and if you don't have a VAT on it, you have to pay toll import, if it does have VAT, it is that 25%
huh checking mine right now, it says my PC crashed and rebooted this morning when i... booted it up? what
Well same as me then
Exept I was playing lol
I guess someone got a problem aswell
🤣
You start from software and work your way down, like PSU failure is very difficult to isolate down unless it’s super obvious like your PC flat out doesn’t even turn on or gets power and really the only good way to test it is by having a spare PSU on hand, if it doesn’t fix the problem put it back in the box and return it
But that’s just an example
No spare psu no
From my experience CPU failure is very rare
Memory and graphics cards dying are more common
Could be my ram yes
CPU failure can easily be memory too
Well it’s one of those I think
hank has cpu failure
🤣
too many king cobras

wanna come over and help me change my spark plugs?
you can bend over and i'll watch
It's never going to happen, is it?
Those coil packs are gonna sit in a plastic bag on a shelf for years
Hahahaha
lol it's not that bad it's just annoying to get the last 2
He’ll just pay someone else to do it eventually

Chevy engines are nice and compact
even better ill replace 4 give up and just run it as a 4 banger
i'll plug all 8 of your holes
LEWD
I think I’ll just go back to windows 10 tbh
Never had problems there
After seeing the logs
Might do that
Like it all started when I got windows 11 so
I had an old PC that kept crashing
Coincidence?
All because of iTunes
So sometimes it’s something really stupid
Like iTunes
Cause iTunes sucks ass

🤣
Or apparently any in that case
XD
I read that windows 11 had or has problems with amd cpus
And mine is amd
So it could be windows 11 in the end
Ok it's past 4am I think I should go to bed seeing as I need to be functional at work by 10am or so
It did initially but I think they’ve fixed all the bugs
So no bugs now apparently?
Not related to AMD specifically no
Or set my alarm earlier and log into the group collab call and wait for someone to say something in there to wake me up when we're actually having the meeting /s

W11 is a big bugaboo for some ppl, but I don't think it's causing your issues.
Probably is cpu related
My friend kept ragging on me saying W11 was why my Darktide was having issues despite my W11 laptop not crashing at all
Or ram
idk bruv w11 is out of my field, Imma stay in 10 and linux
I linked that article that showed you how to check for restarts and shutdowns
nevuh
I wanna change my fuel filter but it just snowed
Nah it’s on the frame rail
usually gasoline filter is inline
I'm resisting quoting rainman ray and something something money shot. to which i did it anyways
now i bought one!!

@deep sapphire what if it needs bios update?
My motherboard
I have my pc for years and never did that
And my motherboard is kinda “old”
On the year it was released I mean
It’s an amd asus rog strix b450-f gaming
Ehhhh… it’s kinda risky if you aren’t comfortable doing it, I would research what you need. Some motherboards allow you to flash it from a bios rom saved on your PC while others require you to have the file on a USB drive
Because it could brick your board
If it fails for whatever reason you just bricked your PC unless it has dual bios which only high end boards have
My 350 board has weird behavior since upgrading bios
It’s not like it’s a super common thing but it has some risk
So yeah only do if you're comfy with that
I see
How I check my bios version then?
I wanna see that atleast
Because if it’s rly old version
It will need update most likely
you can check in the BIOS
^
How?
Turn the pc on
Smash f2/Delete button
Yes tho idk if it’s motherboard causing it
f10 usually is to enter BIOS after a restart
My motherboard is Delete/F2
there is software that will check like Driver Booster
yeah maybe different ones have different keys to enter it
it should say when it first starts up though
Same
what would be the best hardware solution for easily casting all skills? like all 3 hotbars without breaking a sweat?
https://www.razer.com/eu-en/gaming-keypads/razer-tartarus-pro
this one ?
corsair kb 🤮
How can you recommand Corsair keyboard .. they are trash like 90% of the keyboard market from big brand.
You paid a premium price for a joke of a keyboard (same goes for Logitech, Razer, Steelseries, Roccat...)
If you want a really good keyboard, you take a Keychron for exemple.
you will use it like 10 time before you go back on a keyboard.
I pre-ordered a Wooting 2 HE yesterday
the full size or the 60%
what about a Razer Naga V2 Pro ?
yeah i know but people make the mistake
:D
the Full size 2 is hotswap ?
You can't change the switches
I was thinking about a GMMK Pro however I don't like keyboards that much
you can, but they are welded then
i dont get it with the 60HE is hotswap but not the full size, meh
Oh yes, they made the HE 2 Hotswap
so you can change the switches for other magnet switches
good shit
once you leave the OE brands it goes deep into esoterica and you go from spending $140 on a keyboard to blowing $500 on a custom chromed keyboard like sarah
i dont think ill ever change a keyboard after the 2 HE
unless it's that bad
but i dont think it is
possibly is the best prebuilt gaming keyboard rn
nice bullshit here,
Keychron Series V, sub 100$
Keychron Series Q, with CNC aluminium case, sub 200$
so Fayte, should I get a Razer Naga V2 Pro ?
$100 for a frame or a finished keyboard?
full assembly, with hotswap, gateron red, pbt keycaps
Same goes for the Series Q, full assembly, gasket mount, hotswap, full cnc case .. sub 200$
and all this keyboard just crush the big brand trash
you really need 189 key on your mouse ?
Becasue the Naga is heavy AF
I have a G502
Maybe if I remove all the weights it can be used for FPS games or sth
100% wireless
Avalaible soon
https://www.gloriousgaming.com/products/model-i-2-wireless
my G502 is wired so
9 buttons, 75g
if you want to play everything, have some buttons, but still have a good light weight mouse for FPS, that the mouse you want.
before that the only real option beside the G502 was the Razer Basilisk, but heavier
we dont talk about shape here, we talk about wieght/buttons/fonction
I just use my g900
the only good logitech mouse right now is the G Pro Superlight, forget everything else.
interesting for sure
I don't like ultralight mice
¯_(ツ)_/¯
weighs 1g and feels like it's going to snap if you squeeze it too hard
i will buy it, i just wait the release and to finish my build, my bank acount is not to happy right now
what about the best do-it all, money being no concern
actually leaning on gaming
like i said, for me it's the Glorouis Model I 2 Wireless
not released yet, should be this month
the plan was 16/01/2023, but still nothing, like always with Glorious, they are a bit of a dumb compagny tbh
the marketing and communication departement are 🤡
yes, and overprice
the double of the Model i 2 Wireless 😄
hmm
*almost
is there a mouse that is wireless, lightweight or ultra-lightweight + has 289752845 buttons on the thumb position ?
so the closest I can get to is the naga ?
maybe I can """fix""" the insane weight with DPI adjustments? or nah
you cant fix the weight, it's physics
the only solution, is to drill holes and remove parts 😄
right xd
you've no idea how much money I spent in these few days...
Too much, like me
not that high
ye
but my whole setup is around 7K€
but in 2-3years, not week
build PC is almost my job now so 😄
oh that's pretty cool

my wife pc :
(13600kf +3080, still DDR4)
jesus christ
is that a radiator on top? lmao
Part List - Intel Core i9-13900K, GeForce RTX 4090, Fractal Design Meshify 2 ATX Mid Tower
my parts currently
they havent arrived though, only PSU
it's a MORA 420 LT
Now with the open case, he is hidding under my dsek
btw, my fan at are the lowest RPM, 250rpm with 4x Noctua NF-A20
will prob have to change case though not sure
my temps
on medium and large data, the 5900X dont go above 45-50°C
and i'm in passive mode
suuuuuper low
good luck to use correctly the 13900K with that AIO
with the power limit remove on the 13900K, you need custom loop to avoid therma throttle 😄
the AIO can cool 315W
No that bullshit tbh, he cant
it can
Is it even beneficial to turn on MCE ?
like...
a gaming load wont pull more than 250W
they dont give any frequency or the vcore 🤔
idk if toms hardware is trustworthy as content but ye
they are not, only for SSD and PSU
¯_(ツ)_/¯
it's a step below custom loop
there isn't a better AIO
maybe it's 2nd best actually
but 39908 on R23 is not astonishing, but it's still fine
cause one could buy Arctic liquid freezer ii 420mm and mod it with fans
yes there is, the EK AIO is the best one for LGA 1700
but still, AIO are a bit trash anyway, not so good for cooling and not reliable
I mean, it's a bit better than the best tower cooler out there, but for double the price, and far less reliability
the EK is worse than LF II 360
For me, you should think of a real loop for your CPU, the 4090 you dont need to put it underwater, it's a waste of time and money
no is not
in LT720 you can change the coolant
you put the 4090 under water just so you aren't tying up 4 PCI slots with the stupid ass cooler
refill*
plus you can watercool the top and bottom of the card with the new EK block
You can with the EK
the 4090 are not double sided ship so useless
if it's even compatible lol
I assume some version of the card has something topside since EK wouldn't have wasted their time making a watercooled top plate
if you want to watercool a 4090 for the size reduction, ok, but just put a basic backplate, dont bother with that EK bullshit of Active backplate
i obviously wanted to have a custom waterloop
they do waste a lot of time and money, it's EK mate, they do that all the time.
but I found other parts having higher priority for me
for the time being the LT720 will do ok
spent shitton of money to get a 4090
2241EUR for a single part XD
just some basic SMD, nothing to cool here
same goes for other 4080-4090
And still, the Active backplate on RTX 3080-3090 was useless too, even with VRAM on the back side.
check it with a magnifying glass when you receive your G9, a lot of them have dead pixels
ive read that their QC is super shitty
they are, but not as the Gigabyte one or the Asus Z790 motherboard one.
which Z790 ? Apex ?
at least you didnt take a Z790 Apex, you should have no issue
ye
