deep sapphire
modest moss
#

yeah I love them, been wearing them on and off since OG days

hard drift
#

ah

modest moss
#

most comfortable trainers ever

hard drift
#

i personally don't like them, but the 90s are the best looking of the air line imo

modest moss
#

too expensive now though

hard drift
#

it's better than the vapormax namazuconcern

modest moss
#

I only buy them if I see an amazing offer like half price

#

this fucking guy in my year at school when they first came out was bragging about how he was getting them the next day and I happened to be going shopping with my mum that day, so I bought them and he was gutted

hard drift
#

lmao

deep sapphire
#

I bet shue owned BKs

modest moss
#

he was all I'm gonna be the first in our year with them etc

#

god no

deep sapphire
#

LMAO

modest moss
#

one kid in my year bought BKs

#

he was white and got beaten up by the black kids

deep sapphire
#

hahahaha yeah BKs were like gang shoes

modest moss
#

it was the height of the rumours about them being KKK owned with racist messages under the soles

hard drift
deep sapphire
#

oh over here the bloods wore BKs

modest moss
#

the rumour was they said 'thanks n words' under the innersole

deep sapphire
#

hahaha wtf

#

90s were a wild time

modest moss

wait no maybe I'm thinking Troop

#

yeah it was Troop

there's a snopes article that I won't link because banned words

I need to read about that

sly elk
hard drift

sorry 😭

moccasins are just so lame lol

modest moss
#

they do look lame but I bet they're comfy

sly elk
#

I have a couple pairs of jordans but when I hvae to go in and out of the house a bunch of times in a short period of time, i find tying/untying them every time annoying

hard drift
#

understandable dorime

#

also jordans namazuconcern

sly elk
#

maybe i should get some ugg boots 😉

modest moss
#

comfort far outweighs style for me

hard drift
modest moss
#

I bet ugg boots are hella comfy too

#

but so expensive

hard drift
#

ugg boots are not comfy for the price

sly elk
#

mens ones in a nice color too

#

i wonder if they come in black

hard drift
#

not seen black for men but i know womens have it

sly elk
#

ah here we go

modest moss
#

I'd buy them if they were like £20

#

that's $25-30 I guess

hard drift
#

150 haha

#

sadly not joking

modest moss
#

yeah just no

hard drift
#

it's horrible for the price

sly elk
#

hmm

#

oh they don't need socks

hard drift
#

yeah, but they ARE NOT 150 dollars comfy

sly elk
#

wouldn't that get stinky

modest moss
#

I bet bare feet would ruin them fast

hard drift
#

if you use it a ton yeah

sly elk
#

It did protect the crash dummy well enough to earn a Marginal rating, though, so at least there’s that. But if you’re a Wrangler owner, please know that the official Jalopnik recommendation is that you wear your seatbelt at all times while you’re behind the wheel.

hard drift
#

???

sly elk
#

I also highly recommend it. The doors and roof and windshield are all optional and not particularly good at keeping people from falling out

hard drift
#

lmao what

sly elk

hard drift

oh no

sly elk
#

WTF WHY

hard drift
#

that looks awful

sly elk
#

IT SURE DOES

i wonder why every pic of a gladiator i find, shows a cover on the bed

there's something ironic about the bed cover

My PS4 controller had extended triggers and one of them fell off but the other one is still extra sticky and won't come off nyaissa

take the controller apart?

burnt swallow

No they're like attachable extensions to the triggers

#

One of them fell off

oh okay

The other won't come off

It’s a Lenovo product it’ll break after a year

lost python
#

I will say it again: fuck Lenovo and whoever there decided to move the FN key to where the left Ctrl would be

potent arrow
sly elk
#

wait

#

why do some lenovos have it in the same place as dells

#

and others have it in the same plkace as macs

sly walrus
#

is lenovo still doing that fucking nub in the middle of the keyboard

sly elk
#

oh i tget it

#

it's thinkpads that have fn on the outside

#

that whole thinkpad keyboard layout kinda bugs me

#

pgup and pgdown above left/right arrow >>

#

hahahaha

#

so it's not lenovo that you have an issue with, it's thinkpads

#

and thinkpads that predate the windows 95 keyboard layout have it there

golden stream
lost python
#

It's so annoying

golden stream
#

The nib is really nice if I don't want much finger movement tho

#

But then bc I used it for so long so it's not an issue

lost python
#

I can't count the times i wanted to Ctrl+c or v and only wrote c or v

golden stream
#

Oh ye the fn placement is pure dum

#

Kinda fine by me if next to spacebar or whatever

#

But legacy design bruv

sly elk
#

idk what to tell ya lol

golden stream
#

Imo the nib is like, legacy design/brand recognition so no way it would gon soon(tm)

#

also legacy skill lol

dull garnet
#

Trackpoint is great, no h8

#

Plenty of laptop brands use it for their business line too. I've seen it on HP, Toshiba, Dell, Fujitsu etc

lost python
#

And yet i only see old people use them

golden stream
#

Ya it's legacy design legacy skill

dull garnet
#

I use them

#

Because business laptop touchpads are dogshit lol

#

Trackpoint feels much more natural

odd sand
#

I feel that. My Dell work laptop you inexplicably can't left-click and slide scroll with your middle finger. I literally have to click with my left hand and swipe down with my right hand at the edge of the trackpad for it to work properly

#

I dunno how you fuck that up in 2022 when I had a laptop from over 10 years ago that did it flawlessly before

golden stream
#

Let see

#

You use your middle finger/index on the nub
The thumb on the left click
Your hand would be that position for a while
Imo better than trackpad

golden stream
jaunty light
#

i discovered ceramic keycaps and I want them

#

but now im down a rabbit hole of what switches to get n shit like wtf

#

"CREAMY SWITCH" "ALPACA SWITCH" "MINT SWITCH" pls

golden stream
#

LOL

#

Ok so this is an ez in nutshell relatively correct:
You have 3 kinds of switch
LINEAR switch: usually named RED, it slippery yes
TACTILE switch: usually dubbed as BROWN when you love a bit tactile feel with slight click and clack,
CLICKY switch: usually dubbed as BLUE when you love the CLICK the CLACK and annoy your wife or your coworker

#

The stuff you mentioned is the switch name of x company (creamy switch, mint switch), or switch brand (Alpaca)
The 3 basics are still the general stuff and nothing gon stray of it for modern keeb switches

#

There are more kinds of key switches including the infamous godforsaken butterfly Apple Magic Keyboard switch

jaunty light
#

ya m only interested in linear

#

there are some silent asf switches that piqued me

golden stream
#

For silent switches, some mods can do for dampening the noises

#

Like rubber ring and lubing switches

#

Also how far you like for a keyboard button travelling? Like how far you like to press it down?

#

There is the full size switch (like common keyboard) and low profile switch (kinda laptop-ish, in that case it's called Choc switch)

jaunty light
#

indifferent whatever the average cherry is

#

tried silvers once and hated em

#

im a bottom out key typer

golden stream
#

Oh.......

#

Heavy typer then?

#

How's the silver? Too heavy or too light for you?

jaunty light
#

mispress constantly, too light ad actuation point too soon

golden stream
#

Huhhhh I see

#

Ok so
Silver is too light for you = I'll recommend something heavier like 50-62-65g

#

For the actuation point, tbh I'm not really well verse in linear me tactile person lol so actual point is always at when the physical feedback happens

#

But the heavier one should somewhat give you a better feel and more control in actual point level

sly elk
#

Hehe I like my kalih silvers

golden stream
#

Imo try to hand on test switches

#

I rmb brands usually have options of like 2-5 test switches, so buy a few test switch kits from various end and test it out since personal bias is a thing :/

jaunty light
#

i was p much looking at like gateron inks and alpaca silents

#

altho I want the switch base to be clear cuz rgb

golden stream
#

Ahhhhhh ok that's a bit tricky but could be done

jaunty light
#

drop shift + ceramic caps + switches tho... over 400 easy

cerulean talon
#

Wait, ceramic caps?

#

That's a thing? >.>

jaunty light
cerulean talon
#

Oh my.

#

Those sound amazing.

jaunty light
cerulean talon
#

They weigh nothing too. Might have to get some stiffer switches tho for my prefered force with them.

#

Set price isn't terrible. Might have to order some soonish.

jaunty light
#

should be heavier than anything that isnt some weird botique cap

#

200us is steep tho

cerulean talon
#

Eh, if i never have to replace them again? Whatever.

#

I'd rather get a set that'll last me a couple of years rather than slowly wearing down/out multiple sets of double-shots.

#

Looks like you can snipe em for 140 right now, so that's not bad.

jaunty light
#

s'either the keychron k4 or drop shift for base, those caps, n whatever switch

#

as long as the silent ones dont feel weird to achieve being quiet

cerulean talon
#

GMMK w/ pre-lubed lynx's and some generic caps at the moment.

#

I wanted/needed a few more keys than a 60.

jaunty light
#

i prefer full idk what 1800/96 layout leys are missing tho

cerulean talon
#

I need to find a really good numpad, I didn't need one for awhile, but I'm starting to miss it.

Tbh, the fact they're alumina ceramic pleases me. I'd be way less tempted if they were auctual clay-ceramic.

umbral moss

windows 11 has this weird corporate edgy vibe to it

Tbh, I just installed a 10 start bar replacement for 11.

And how you have to use third party tools to get basic functions like the right-click menu back

hard drift
#

oh yeah lol

cerulean talon
#

I can deal with glitchy, I can't deal with the fact I've got 15 firefox windows open and I need to see what tab's loaded at any time, and it likes to hide that.

#

I too, like performing brain surgery on windows for previously available features.

#

Tbh, I don't see why they didn't just put a toggle somewhere for it.

IMO, it would have reduced alot of the resistance to 11.

That's too easy tho

Then they can't force people to use the new cool minimalistic design

umbral moss

cerulean talon

I'd guess 5v, but yanno, some times you break out the benchtop and go wild.

umbral moss

most people don't have a 480V drop with a 13kW programmable supply laying around

that's not what most consider "hobbyist" equipment

cerulean talon
#

Ye, for 40A of 120, sure, but you can also get that by deliberately dropping it onto a 120/20 socket for a few seconds before it explodes, or your breaker goes.

I can always hope for a big boom. :P

For games, many just bake stuff like some lighting (Mirror's Edge), easier to handle and more optimized
Ya some stuff can befit raytrace but it's still niche af, and imagine getting RTX to play raytrace minecraft haha

The best feature from Ray tracing is the vastly improved global illumination in some games tbh. I'd really like to see more of that.
But reflections are kinda meh since in most games you don't even get to see them really during gameplay

you don't need to spend so long writing explicit shaders for lighting interaction with X surface, you just tell the engine "this is concrete with specularity X" and the engine tells the GPU to go figure out how it should look

#

it offloads dev effort onto the GPU's calculation functions

#

so the advantage isn't in, like, making over-fried "HDR" bloom reflections in a cyberpunk 2077 puddle tech demo, it's in making the art passes on maps a lot faster
