Just a regular ol’ IS sedan with a 5.0-liter V8 making 472 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque.

and that color is fantastic ElezenInLove

wonder if it's using a zf 8 speed

@bitter girder do you use an audio interface for your guitar? I am now stuck thinking about this XD

$39 behringer interface?

odd sand
#

Are you going with Watercooling or Aircooling for your new PC? "Yes."

#

All the zoomers born today ... or would they be zzoomers? First car will be an EV probably

sly elk
#

true dat

#

and tbh for a not-car-enthusiast that just needed something to get around

#

my first recommendation would be a prius

#

second -gag- would probably be a -gag- rav4

#

or something of that nature i guess :\

#

now an 86, miata, or a charger/challenger/300? hell yea!

#

when you could easily walk into a dodge dealer and walk out with a new v6 charger for like 23k out the door....

With a v8

bitter girder
#

I got mine part of a bundle

umbral moss
#

they couldn't even be bothered to juice the electric component to get to 200hp

odd sand
#

I'm surprised they don't offer an R-variant like with the other subcompact cars

umbral moss
#

maybe if akio races one they'll make a performance variant

#

the only reason the corolla GR exists is because they basically hacked a yaris front end onto a corolla back end to make the yaris GR

#

so they figured they may as well just make the whole corolla into a GR variant

deep sapphire
#

LS swap Prius

umbral moss
#

although my real question is the 2025 miata

#

mazda claims the next generation of the miata will be EV

#

will they crack the code and build a light, cheap EV sports car?

deep sapphire
#

Aren’t they making a new online 6

#

Inline**

umbral moss
#

for the miata?

deep sapphire
#

Skyactiv is pretty cool, it has like 14.1 compression lmao

#

Nah just in general

umbral moss
#

dunno, I thought flat sixes were over

#

V topology easier to make

deep sapphire
#

16.3:1 holy shit haha

umbral moss
#

approaching diesel engine compression ratios

#

maybe that'll be their next big upgrade, they achieve 20:1 and the thing self-ignites at TDC

sly elk
deep sapphire
#

Yeah they have some cool tech that compresses the air fuel mixture before it reaches the cylinder

#

Need some TUNED PORT INJECTION

sly elk
#

that's pretty

#

I mean

deep sapphire
#

Back when intake manifolds werent made of plastic

sly elk
#

i admit i could live without the supercharger lol

umbral moss
#

supercharger 😌

sly elk
#

I like my V8s naturally aspirated

umbral moss
#

for when you just want boost and you don't want to rev the engine to get it

deep sapphire
#

Just get a smaller turbo or variable

#

Honestly the pro charger is probably one of the best power adders because it’s stupid easy to install

umbral moss
#

yeah, but a small turbo on a v8 doesn't have any real value since your air mass on the exhaust is so high you just saturate it

#

supercharger better

deep sapphire
#

It just bolts right onto your accessories bracket and is powered by your serpentine belt

umbral moss
#

ye

deep sapphire
#

They both have pros and cons

umbral moss
#

you lose a little parasitic power to the spool but superchargers are just less hassle

deep sapphire
#

Superchargers are better for larger displacement engines but they would be hard to drive on a smaller engine

umbral moss
#

yeah, because you don't have the torque to actually run it

deep sapphire
#

Right

umbral moss
#

although toyota squeezing what, almost 130HP per cylinder with the corolla GR engine is a god damned miracle lmao

deep sapphire
#

Yeah that is pretty import

#

Impressive

#

Fuckin phone

umbral moss
#

I mean, that engine will explode itself in two years, but at least it ran fast before it died

sly elk
#

heheh yea agreed

umbral moss
#

yeah

#

it's a turbo 3

#

gets like 320HP lmao

sly elk
#

it must be exhilarating to drive for that 2 years

#

or or or

#

... mod it to get more power haha

umbral moss
#

apparently there's an even higher boosted version for the morizo edition that gets to 360HP haha

sly elk
#

i wonder if it comes with earplugs

umbral moss
#

just casually putting out more power with a 1.7L 3 cylinder than most companies do with a 3.6L V6

sly elk
#

yea but that 3.6 v6 will last many years and run on 87 octane gas

#

probably also cost half as much

deep sapphire
#

Yeah small engines with high boost and compression is just asking for problems after 100,000 miles

#

I’m looking around for a Vortec LQ9 6.0 and 4L80E

#

God that’d be such a sick swap

#

MAXXXX

umbral moss
#

MAXXX TO THE XXXTREME

umbral moss
#

yeah, that's about right

#

also consider that my setup is about 30% less power consumption than yours

#

my titan only pulls like 270-ish W

#

that's why I intended my next setup to have a dedicated 3x140 dual-row radiator for the GPU

#

I have 19 140mm fans on standby to power this stupid thing when I finally get around to building it

#

push-pull on 3x140 is 12 fans alone

I intended to make my case out of hardwood pogianger

tawdry anchor
#

Should I get a curved monitor

#

For Or ultra wide

umbral moss
#

I run my fans at 100% and pump at 60% lmao

#

the fans are direct 12V drive

#

they also have the SR71 problem, if the radiator gets too cold the fins clip into the shroud on the radiator and clack away

#

I tried spacing them out with washers but it still does it sad

#

yeah, it's loud pogianger

#

that's how I know when a fan dies, it's a lot quieter

#

also consider that increasing your flow rate more might actually hurt your cooling because you get cavitation from the backpressure on the cooling plates

#

you need to keep the flow as laminar as possible to minimize the losses from the super restrictive jet plates

#

especially on the CPU block, the GPU is huge so it's very low loss compared to the CPU

#

well, cavitation sounds like hissing or popping

#

listen closely at the CPU block to confirm

#

if you put too much pressure into the CPU block you'll hear it

#

more flow will get there for sure, it's kg/mm^2

hard drift

But otherwise yeah, datavacs are great, i need my own

Hi guys, I'm building the kids PC right now. On the cable part. Little confused/not sure where things go

dreamy chasm

If they're fan cables, they can go into 4 pin fan headers

glossy ravine
#

Okay. I've connected the fans. The power supply came with all these extra bits and cables I'm not sure what to do with?

dreamy chasm
#

If your case has a compartment dedicated for the PSU, you can usually (gently) try and stuff the unused cables there

Though

If your power supply is modular, you can just have the unneeded bits not plugged into the power supply

dreamy chasm

It should have one, then

#

I wonder how hard it'd be to mod a USB c connector onto my mice

sly elk
#

if you're dealing with a very grainy looking picture and using an auto-ish mode like those, it's probably because the camera kicked the ISO very high

#

IIRC you have a nice camera, but 1600 is still high depending on the body

paper tusk
#

increase all the things (f stop, shutter speed, iso, motion blur, desire to get a different camera because of noise to get good low light pictures)

sly elk
#

bigger aperture number == longer exposure to get enough light

#

f5.8 would probably turn out a lot blurrier in low light than f2.0 since it has to hold open longer.

#

like yea that camera has an aps-c sensor, but your problem is probably more lighting and the lens

#

17-55mm sounds like a kit lens (but f/2.8 sounds really good for a kit lens)

#

err sorry

#

the problem is more to do with settings & lenses than the body's capability, probably

#

though one could argue a newer body will have newer processing algorithms and better auto modes. perhaps.

sly elk
#

with your lens you're just trying to balance exposure speed and iso

#

one of those pictures i looked at it pretty obviously said it was in 'exposure priority' mode or whatever so it was trying to keep the picture from getting blurry by bumping the ISO up

#

one catch with the adjustable depth lenses like that one is that as you go from 17mm to 55mm it kicks the aperture up, which means less light, which means you have to either kick the exposure time up, or the iso up

#

neat!

#

i .. didn't even know those existed haha

modest moss

odd sand
#

Like how for film cameras you would buy ISO 100/200 for portraits, but ISO400 if you were going to be taking shots with more motion. I think you could even get up to ISO 1600, but that would be for really fast stuff like race car closeups

jaunty light
#

Like idk. Here F/2.8 so the shrine is in full focus vs 1.4. 1/60s (comfortable handheld shutter for me) and iso800

odd sand
#

You could even go the route of like the a6000 series and you can get an adapter for them to use a-mount lenses

jaunty light

If that helps explain what I meant

odd sand

So you can use it for more general photos and if you want to get a little more serious you could mount a better lense in those situations
