tiny tweezers
Or just a needle and patience
yeah I wouldnt fuck with pins on a socket lol
at that point its shot and getting RMA'd
wait what, that's thick
I have the cheapass version of that (pliers) and yeah they are thicc
wow not buying 100 dollar snap-on pliers
pffft
PSSSH
PFFFSSSH
I thought snap-on didnt let you buy shit online
im glad we can meme about their overpriced tools now
have to support your local snarf off truck driver somehow, they have turf wars with other distributers
ok I looked up at my old mobo again, apparently the pins weren't bent, but gone, probably glued with the microfibre cloth and stick with them ._.
hopeless
no needle or tweezers can fix this

is that how truck suspension suppose to work? lol
the spacing between the tire and fender at the back seems pretty thin πΉ or is it just me
it doesn't exist becuase the wheels are basically put on backwards and spaced out
i haaate that look
I forgot what's it's called deep dish rims?
I remember a lot of JDM VIP style use this kind of looks, not sure if it's still a trend now
if i wanted a deep dish pizza pan I'll get one from a restaurant supply otherwise I prefer not destroying my car's suspension
this? haha
that looks like it was designed for picking fights with driveway curb lips, and speed bumps
and probably lose
yeah air suspension, lol
yeah, I think it belongs to the same category, K-Car/Truck
AND FOR 19.95 YOU CAN RENT THIS MUTHA FUCKA
that one's even a gm!
that video is exhibit A why rental car agencies charge more for people under 25 years old
yeah most trucks are RWD and the ones that are 4WD have whats called a transfer case, its almost always in RWD until activated
^
here's an idiot demonstrating that π
We take delivery of the JCR JL Rubicon and Daryl completely ignores the break-in period for everyone's entertainment. π
lol
'partial off'
chrysler's esp is pretty lax about preventing rear wheel spin from a stop
GOT DAT RUBICON BABY
I think im gonna slap in an LQ9 vortec in my truck
and people who buy mopar products like making rear wheels spin
I found someone that can sell me a pulled one for 600 bucks
long block with harness
fuckin bargain
LETS MAKE IT TWIN TURBO BABY 1400 HP
1400 HP OBS CHEVY

454 BIG BLOCK BABY
oh my goodness
v8 lol
v8 lawnmower lmao
that's a suicide machine right there
but it sounds so much better than a usual lawnmower engine
THIS IS AMERICA
Lmao is that the 632
Fuckin thing is like 10.4 liters
10.4 LITER ENGINE
God I want that so bad
12:1 compression on pump gas
On some fuckin dusty ass 1950s technology

With some cops following me on the way
The best thing about Chevy is the old vortec LS engines
Literally you can go down to a junkyard
Grab an old engine for 500 bucks
Throw a new camshaft and springs in it which any toddler could do
And you got yourself 650 ponies
For under 1000 bucks
Engine masters literally tested an engine with like 200,000 miles on it
On boost
And made like 900 hp
Lmao
Those engines were so overbuilt
it's a shame there are basically no good ct6-v (blackwing v8) videos out there
they probably only made like 50 of them lol
Iβm still mad they only made the blackwing V8 for like 3 years Lmao
afaik the ct6 version was only made for a very short run at the end of its production
i think they may have even built them in the china factory lol
at least it got its run in the ct5-v
but the ct5 is such a lame design by comparison >>

plenty of good camaro ss videos at least

God it sounds so good
I fuckin love the color too
ooo is it better compared to buying ex-military vehicle?
the price is pretty steep, the first one is $450k+ USD π
to be fair, military vehicles aren't that tough lmao
most of them are made to the cheapest possible specs and they hope it doesn't get shot at
also they're made to be easily serviced 50 years from now
huh I thought US military budget is really big π
yea but they don't spend all of it on those
ic ic, so ex-military vehicles are vehicles that are too expensive to be serviced?
not necessarily
but maybe
under the skin most of them are pretty basic commercial chassis stuff
iirc the hummer used regular gm v8s and stuff
the purpose built parts are the things that are annoying to deal with
that car somehow looks menacing
i like it
it's all wasted on pork very important stuff that will help america defend freedom
https://youtu.be/qXRy6z7P1lI this one is the same, L12A -> K20A engine π 800 BHP, smaller car so more lightweight to build sleeper car on

even stock wheels
oh noes
the top on my case isn't opening
ahh nevermind, we're good! unplugged it for a minute and when I plugged it back in it started up like normal
A lego case would be cool
till you hit it with your pinky toe π₯² pain
one time i pulled my tower out from under my desk to work on it. I joked with my mom that I would have to remember this so I didn't trip on it
not 2 mins later
got up to go get something and tripped on it
was the tower ok
i mean yea it was a powermac g4, was totally fine lol
vintage setup pic π
hmm
ah 2007, that g4 was old by then
i got a lot of mileage out of that computer lol
in 2007 you already using 2 monitors? π₯²
lol it had a geforce 4mx that could drive 2 monitors
in that pic the pc was driving the second screen
here, this is the oldest setup pic I have
from 2002 lol
I don't remember what I used back then, but I remember having pentium 3 once
heheh as I recall, the 3 pcs on the floor had a celery 900mhz, a cyrix 266, and a 133mhz pentium
something like that
they were frankensteins
the middle monitor was a pretty ok 17"
the right one was a really not great 14" CTX
yeah I have no idea about those series :P, earliest I have was pentium 3 and I was too stupid to use it, only my older brother used it haha
iirc 640x480 at 60hz, or 800x600 at like 50hz?
900mhz celeron was a p3 with missing things
the g4 was a spaceship by comparison, amusingly slower clockspeed. 2 processors at 800mhz
I don't remember how many hz I had, but I see my older bro played cs and warcraft 3 just fine πΉ
You guys are old
repasted my video card
My hotel view is simply, exquisite
Ah yes, lush desert
what do you guys think ? which one? https://www.amazon.com/Sceptre-2560x1440-DisplayPort-Adjustable-E275B-QPN168/dp/B08SZH8J2T/ref=sr_1_20?crid=2PBDUXEFPH7Y0&keywords=qhd%2Bmonitor&qid=1670594021&sprefix=qhd%2Bmonitor%2Caps%2C85&sr=8-20&th=1

is screen real estate more important?
not really
LG makes breddy gud IPS monitors, since they actually make their own panels
i just want qhd with hdr
most other companies contract with AUO
the lg does have like 4k ratings on it
(acer is the premium partner for AUO, so they get priority for A stock from AUO)
so if you don't get an LG get an acer, ironically
acer monitors are surprisingly good
no more than 200 and yeah mostly single player games
the LG is probably right on the mark then, even if it's a little small
27" is better for 1440 since the pixel pitch makes things a little hard to read
i do play a little csgo though
You won't get proper hdr at that resolution or price
windows also gets pissy about high DPI, it tries to scale it but some programs aren't hiDPI aware and they just shrink down into teeny weeny eye-strain-o-vision
so the 27 inch might be better?
@real edge shining the monitor bat signal, save this guy from a bad buy
also with hdr, it depends on resolution?
HDR depends on the backlight and the extinction ratio of the display
My understanding is limited, that's why I've pinged nhadala
IPS tends to have kind of underwhelming extinction so it doesn't get those really poppin HDR values
He will help you for sure
but you trade your meh black levels for way better color reproduction and fast refresh rates
VA panels are so slow
My monitor has an utterly pointless hdr mode
1440p is nice
Be patient and talk to nhadala, they love monitors
also consider that HDR is something of a meme when you have a backlit double polarizer setup instead of self-fluorescing pixels
you can't achieve true black and you can't pump enough light to reach genuine HDR1000 or better
your brightest whites are still kind of muddy greys
what about viewsonic ? good brand?
viewsonic is good
they make reference grade monitors, but those are way out of your price target
This pre-owned or refurbished product has been professionally inspected and tested to work and look like new. How a product becomes part of Amazon Renewed, your destination for pre-owned, refurbished products: A customer buys a new product and returns it or trades it in for a newer or different m...
theres taht
but its a refurb
so idk
it's hard to gauge because amazon returns tend to have nothing wrong with them at all, they just get returned and thrown in a big bin
so they occasionally dust everything off and re-sell it as "refurbished"
they don't do any repair/refurbishing on their own
https://videocardz.com/newz/first-amd-radeon-rx-7900-xtx-7900-xt-3dmark-timespy-firestrikes-scores-are-in
if these are true then i was correct about the 7900 xtx being about 10% faster at best
Unfortunately, RX 7900 series are unable to compete with RTX 4090 in those tests.
who was telling me the 7900 would be within 10% of the 4090?
was outside touching grass, will look at it now
i think it was ice?
i was saying it would be better than 4080
the 4090 is just way out in its own universe
haihai what is your budget
yeah, he was like "you'll be surprised :)"
200 max
narrator: he was not surprised
i have a feeling amd will be able to compete with that class of card next gen since they'll hopefully have MCM in better condition
I mean, maybe the 8900 will be good?
200 for a 27" 1440p ips is tight but at the same time that 180 refurb viewsonic is probably ok
maybe they'll introduce another class of card to compete with the 90 class
200 is a bit low
i know π¦
US?
the only chance i see of them getting to 4090 level or even close is driver updates
since they always do
nah, finewine isn't going to get you a 40% performance increase lmao
the 4090 is just playing an entirely different game
since all they need is to be close for a win
Bidori huffing amd copium
alright ima get the viewsonic. ive heard enough good thngs about them
nah it's true
by the time finewine catches up to the 4090 the 5090 ti will be out
for them to have a win this generation they just need to be within 4090 territory
nvidia isn't even competing with anyone but themselves at this point
for highest end yeah
GIGABYTE M27Q-P if you can stretch your budget by 40-50$
its one of the best for its price point
Did bidori apply for mod
no lol
He might get it if he did I reckon
I wouldn't
Yes apps are open #announcements
i'd hate this server and leave forever if i did
i don't want this server to feel like a chore
You're a chore
plus i've done moderation for a big server, it's hell
the best chore
if i get it you'd be the first to know
gotta live up to my word
moderation is hell, especially if they require you to enforce rules you think are stupid
I'm not a fan of judge dredd cosplay
dredd enforces the law because it's the law, regardless of the ethics or morality thereof
he has no sense of justice
It's the classic debate, do you work within the system to bring about change, at the risk of becoming an enabler of those same things you don't agree with
I mean, the point of dredd is that he doesn't question the system
his entire function is to satirize thugs masquerading as law enforcement, because the brutality is the point of the system
A full list of server rules can be found in #about-this-server
change we can depend on
I didn't mean it related to dredd, I meant in relation to this server
Hmm what was deleted
Oh well
tbh I would just go with the gigabyte monitor, missing out on that is a shame cause the under 200monitors are all 1080p ones and the quality of the 1440p ones is piss poor under 200
just 40-50 more
you would do your eyes a favor but
at the end of the day its up to you
aiyo, this looks π₯
so of course chevy won't make it
they'll make some horrible tank-slot shitbox that you can't see a fucking thing out of and it'll look like someone chipped the body panels out of a brick with a chisel
would you guys recommend qflash plus?
the one that you can press the button, and the bios will update itself? or just normal qflash? like plug in monitor, and do it from the bios itself
I am by an castle
Wales is pretty ngl
Can I use this screw for this hole? Or do I need a special type of screw? Why is there a lead solder around it??
It won't break if I use this screw right??
yeah
One has this lead pattern, what does it even mean??
they're using the screw as a ground...?
Yeah there's a post underneath it
that seems like a really fuckin stupid idea
one has 2 and the other has 6, need 2 different type of screws or?
I don't remember, I bought this case long time ago π₯²
nani, need 9?
I don't think I have that much
micro atx
is it not normally this way? π₯²
I only have 5 screws, zzz
I wouldn't have designed the board ground to be using the case chassis as part of the ground circuit, personally
you people sure have some vivid imaginations
ai is cringe
I've seen people make do with 3
yeah, bios updates are usually fast and easy
unless you did something wrong, then it's fucked lmao

Just put screws where it'd make sense
And don't ask about the paper washers
Lol where are these 2 going?
I assume the right male is only for speakers?
why there are so many power led? >.>
The "Power SW" plug goes on the top row third and fouth pin from the left
The Power+ goes on the top row, left most, and the power- goes on the top row second pin
ok
also this, my new GPU hasn't arrived yet, if the old GPU is just gtx 1050, should I still put it on the PCIEX16?
since gtx 1050 isn't either in no 1 and 2 category
The "Power SW" is your power switch it works by just temporarily shorting those two pins to tell the motherboard to start up. The other two are for the power LED, and they are seperte because some motherboards have a 2-pin plug and some have a 3-pin plug, so having them separate is more universal
ok
There is never a reason NOT to put in on the x16 slot. If it doesn't need all 16 channels, it just won't use them
Hi gamers.
So I'm about to start to replace my CPU
I was told I should update the BIOS before installing it?
Usually a good idea, as a firmware update can sometimes include microcode updates to better support newer processors
Because I checked my sysinfo and it says it's running a version from 2020
How would I go about doing that?
what's the mobo name?
firmware update procedures differ by motherboard. You'll have to check the readme that comes with the firmware download
MSI B450-A Pro Max
hmm not sure about MSI ._.
I think you can just download the firmware on to a FAT32 formatted USB drive, go into the BIOS, and there's a button to update the firmware, maybe?
this is a 'read the manual' moment tbh
yeah
Ah yeah... The manual I don't have anymore
downloadable from the website usually hehe
you may have lost it, but the interent remembers forever
Wait so I can use my old DDR4 to get a (8x2)gb + (4x2)gb memory?
Is there such a thing as too much memory? Like using the 4 slots isn't recommended?
like using 2 slots is better than using 4 slots, that's what I mean
more memory slots used tends to require more voltage on the memory controller to combat vdroop when you're loading all the sticks
what would you recommend? ._.
it's not ideal to load them all unless you don't plan on OCing at all and you have headroom to bump the voltage on the memory controller
the build I spec'd out was for 2x32 instead of 4x16
also because 2x32 is actually a little cheaper
you aren't going to break anything by using all four slots, no
2 of the memories are the newer one with 3600mhz, and the older one are 2133mhz
but you will have to make concessions on voltage or frequency to get it to behave with all dimms populated
oh, no, you can't really do that
and that means?
you're limited to the lowest speed of your sticks
ok so the 2133mhz will bottleneck the 3600?
yeah, it will try to interleave A/C and B/D, and the clocks aren't synchronized so it won't work right
you have to set them all to 2133 then
if you had 4x 3600 you could load all the slots no problem, but you will have to do some tinkering to see if it will even post at the rated speed
I had a lot of issues with my ram running at their rated speed with all slots filled, versus only two slots filled
had to bring the vdimm up a little and boost the memory controller voltage
yeah I'd just use the new 2x8 personally
16GB though
I saw that 2x32 and my stupid hoarder brain was like "but you could have 4x32"
the fuck do I need 128GB of memory for, I'm not running huge matrix math sets
the manual tells you what slots to use for two-dimm, dual channel operation
it's usually A/C, you should confirm with your board's manual though
Also just to confirm. Can I no longer use my h212 anymore? And I need to wait for my AK500?
16gb is fine for their build
I know, but it just seems like such a small amount of memory
behave
π°
16 is fine for most things
you already busted a mobo, just wait imo
or H212 heatsink is just so old that even the heatsink that comes with my 5600 is better than my H212?
would have waited for all parts before doing any of this
yeah
It's uh. Been a hot minute
especially since some parts are super perishable and start de-valuing as soon as you put them in a cart
the 212 isn't that bad, but if you have an upgrade coming just chill
I mean if the ak500 is not necessary, I can just cancel the order, the problem is the store doesn't even know when it's ready to pick up
so I don't know how long I'm going to wait, I'm basically pre-ordering it
the GPU is the one that currently already on the way
what cpu did you buy again?
5600
people here said something that the AK500 isn't even necessary cause it has low VRM? or is there another metric, I'm not sure
what I understand that It doesn't get hot easily
I'm not certain, it'd probably be 'ok' but it's not ideal and a better cooler will allow better boosting... ask @dull garnet or @hard drift the AMD lads
tbh
for games, i would enable pbo but only for undervolting and set the boost clock override to 200MHz. some recent testing on my 5600x i found that the all core OC helped a little in some benches but not enough to justify the extra 30c of heat
if you have no idea what you're doing anyway just use whatever
h212 is harder to install?
tbh my experience from taking it off, it's very hard to take it off π₯²
or is it just me not skilled enough to do it
apparently it's 'hard' but I have not really found it hard to install the few times I've built with it
watch some videos mate
yt is your friend
yeah, just wanted to know why you mentioned that haha
is it cause it's considered painful to install since it's an old item, or is it something else
there's also like 10 models of 212 over the years :p
i didn't have much trouble installing a 212x for a friend
i'm sure my cryorig is worse
AMD stock brackets are the devil
honestly, there's only so much advice and support we can give via this medium, there comes a point where you need to read documentation and watch videos
i bought some low profile tower for the gf's 5600x and that shit mounted with the latch mechanism
doesn't feel secure at all
did you ever feel secure with AMD
doesn't seem to have a version written in the heatsink or anywhere else

and, the fan seems universally used for multiple series

that looks jank
also if he's not going to overclock, is there any reason not to just use the cooler that comes with his 5600?
no
@outer sand see that? just use the supplied AMD one maybe
ironically the stock coolers use a bracket + screw in mechanism now, motherboards still come with the old style brackets for some reason
the 3 people rocking old coolers
also how does heatsink fan works? is it always on or does it only turn on when the heatsink is hot?
Good Hydaelyn, this heat sink is massive
is there any way to check if my heatsink fan is still working?
beside plugging it into the motherboard and turning the power on
provide a 12v power source
rip
lol, looks like a model skyscraper πΉ
First step of installation and I'm already stumped
youtube
rtfm
that too
https://youtu.be/d5v-_R5pWiY?t=523 this part is painful π₯²
The Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO might be the best CPU cooler from the last 10 years and its certainly the most popular. So let's fast forward to 2021 for a new Hyper 212 EVO review with new heatsink comparisons, temperature and noise testing, benchmarks and some installation instructions you absolutely need to know about. But this might still ...
who ever think this design, or is it normal for all heatsink?
I thought the bracket isn't safe?
what
same
the provided cooler doesn't use the bracket hank was referring to

Do... Do I have to remove the MB from my case?
try an l9a
shit's a nightmare to put in
you hold the cooler in from the other side while you try and keep it still for long enough to get the first two screws in
nothing to keep it in place
by low profile i mean below 10cm, not about 2
depends on the case, but mine has 2 sided cover where you can just put on the custom heatsink bracket without taking the mobo out

This is a very nice CPU cooler to install,...
This is the video I'm following
ah
You shouldnt need to, if you have an access cutout in the back panel
HALLELUJAH.
I officially love NZXT
Uh
This just fell out
Are
Is this the bit for the stand offs
that is indeed a bracket
W E L L
some of these coolers it is a bit of a balancing act of cradling the bracket to the motherboard while you're doing everything else with the other hand
removing the motherboard makes it 5x easier
honey, new gaming mouse is out
That's natural
It isn't glued in place
Just kept in by whatever screws you just unscrewed
Check the installation guide to see if you need it for your specific cooler
yes
Copy.
ok ty ty, seems all done now, just waiting for that GPU and then I can just turn it on π
yea
O7
Noooo! You must first put on a small dot, then using a razor blade like a putty knife work the paste into the processor lid to fill in all the micro-cracks then scrape it off to leave a thin uniform layer then apply the paste in a broken X formation which you then spread out with the razor blade again from the inside out until you have a thin uniform layer then you put a small amount on the heat sink and work it in to the micro crack there as well before installing the heat sink making sure to apply uniform pressure
i used the spread method on my gpu earlier, and i feel dirtier for it
...We're still taking about thermal paste, right?
labia

I take the radical step of following the directions that the cooler manufacturer provides for my cpu/socket
there's literally no one way to do it lmao
clearly
intel used to recommend just putting a line down the center of the IHS and slapping the sink on there
which yielded garbo temperatures because it didn't reach cores 5 and 6
we're giving advice to relative novices though, so following the instructions from the cooler manufacturer is the safest bet
yeah, I don't know who's going to sit there and scrape 99.95% of the goop off their CPU three times to get the Perfect Thickness lmao
i like drawing a penis with the thermal paste and slamming it down
seems like a lot of paste π€
This is possible because RTX 4090 HOF is the only RTX 40 graphics card on the market with two 16-pin (12VHPWR) connectors.
I don't think there are any PSUs that have 2x VHPWR cables
MSI has one native VHPWR port
itll be fine
external psu + 16 pin adapters
most people getting a hof probably wouldnt give a shit anyway
just run a PSU exclusively for the GPU
yes
honestly, you'll have to get a second PSU to run a HOF anyway lmao
people have done that for sli 3090
it pulls more power on its own than the rest of the fucking computer
early leaks put it just around the 4080, which is about where it's priced so
i tend not to look at leaks
In terms of cooling, GALAX confirms that RTX 4090 HOF has 9 heatpipes in total (either 8 or 6 mm), two 112 mm outer fans and 92 mm central fan.
why the fuck does it even come with a cooler
if you're buying a 700W space heater you already know you're putting a waterblock on it
or LN pot
because it'd be a bad look if they released an air card that has a cooler that isn't worth for shit
it's not an air card lmao
you're basically producing as much heat as a combustion engine at this point
still air
you've run out of surface area to dump all that heat into
is it touching?

what is going on
...
make sure those fans aren't fighting each other
Ty
Y'all are the best
Basically
They have arms on the side to
Hold onto the sinks
your plastic plate is upside down too

Which one?
it was
it's off because the thing is inverted too
look at the fan edges
they don't line up
Because like
They come off
Uh. Am I good to power on again
Because like.
I don't want anything to break
long as the fans are plugged in
power the gpu
notice the red led
my dude
DUH
nvidia cards used to give a nasty screech if you tried that
did you sort the gpu power correctly?
Yeah. Turned the PC off
Plugged it in
Trying to close out just brings me back into it?
so now sort the boot order in bios, then install windows
Uh. I have windows installed.
it's really manual time, I can't stress this enough
This was just a CPU upgrade

Now that I got my CPU in and such.
What should I do first? Drivers or--?
shouldn't really need to do anything, you could do a chipset driver update for the heck of it though
pretty common when there is no load
It can be. A lot of GPUs don't bother to turn on fans unless you have 3D rendering going
My last concern. What is "normal" temperature for a CPU while running games?
not melting the components
depends on the game and cpu, just google "cpu name safe temps"
thanks shue
"As for the new Ryzen 7 5800X3D the Maximum Operating Temperture is 90c. So as long as the temperature doesn't reach or exceed 90c you are fine. It is best to keep temperature at least in the low 80c at maximum loads if possible."

Man, I kinda want a 7900 XTX. Just because it looks sick AF.
But only the reference board version. The partner boards look like crap.
Though I'll never get one because I won't get one on launch day, and reference boards become rarer than an honest used car salesman after launch.
reference is the way
Seriously though.
AMD's reference cards look professional. Like something a serious enthusiast in their 20's or 30's would spend half a month's pay on.
All their 3rd party cards look like something a 14 year old is spending their $50 allowance on.
Thatβs how i feel about all aib cards
They always look shit
The ASUS TUF cards at least look passable if you can't get a reference board.
But yeah the rest are generally poor. It wasn't so bad in the past, before tempered glass and having to see the parts every time you sit down to the desk.
Nah even then theyβre ass
The only AIB I like are the themed ones, but only in the context of the whole themed set.
So like the ASUS Gundam Card or the ASUS EVA card are cool...provided they're with the entire Gundam/EVA theme set.
Though I do have a soft spot for the Noctua 3060/3070, ugly as they are.
π€’
Though the problem is with Nvidia the AIB cards have better cooling....
Not always
I have a gtx660 that displays a screen on the attached monitor instructing you to plug power in
Not really
Bido, what Graphics card should I upgrade to now that I have my CPU situation sorted?
4090
4090
do you even need one
we all need a 4090
I dont
our energy bills dont
fucking cold out now isnt it

right im sold im buying this in living in herefordshire
i hope it spits fire

If it's a serious question;
High End (EX: You're willing to spend $800+): Try to score a Radeon 7900 XT or XTX when they release on the 13th.
Otherwise for high end try to get an at MSRP 3080 (maybe even a 3080 Ti for holiday sale).
Mid-Range: Look for a 3060 Ti on sale or 6700XT (I saw one on Amazon for like $320 the other day).
Lower-Range: Look for a 3050 or 6600XT.
EDIT: This is new cards. You could probably find cheaper used like 2080s or even 1080s.
tfw 6700xt is considered lower-range π₯Ή
I only said that because I think you can get a 6700XT for like $320
Oh shit I got my cards backwards hold on
$885 was the cost of the kids PC entire build and you're saying It costs that much and more for a single graphics card?
I just re-read it
what is your current gpu
I have a XFX RX 5600 XT THICC PRO 14 GPBS with 6 GB of GDDR6
you'd need to spend a wad to get anything decently faster than that
3050 is slower than my 6600xt πΉ
yeah you would just keep that until you have idk 600+ budget
It is still lower on the spectrum though than something like the 6700xt. In fact I think that $320 6700XT I saw might be an anomaly.
I spent like... 300ish on my GPU when I bought it?
Actually it was not. It is actually still there.
source: trust me bro
See my link above. XFX 6700xt new from Amazon for $320
says out of stock to me
and it's not yeah, that
fairly decent level of performance for that money still
your finances ain't my business, but you mentioned buying that cpu on credit, I'd suggest enjoy what you've got and pay that off
Already have.
slick
If there's 1 thing I can't stand, it's being in debt.
then to do that cpu justice, save up a decent chunk
is 6700 nice, is it a huge upgrade from 6600xt?
no
Oh, the 6700xt I saw was $420
My bad.
I wish AMD's naming conventions were easier so it was easier to keep track of at a glance.
Trying to sort through a browsing history of "6....GPU" isn't easy.
Powered by AMD RDNA 2 Radeon RX 6700 XT Integrated with 12GB GDDR6 192-bit memory interface WINDFORCE 3X Cooling System with alternate spinning fans Screen cooling 2x DisplayPort 1.4a 2x HDMI 2.1 Graphene nano lubricant RGB Fusion 2.0 Protection metal back plate GIGABYTE AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT EAG...
blaze it
i remember I had to add like extra $80 if i have to choose 6700 instead of 6600xt hehe
with a 5800x3d you really want a chonky gpu
like a 4090
3080 upwards I'd think
Question
I wanted to make that joke but I left it for you and Shue
Are AM5 Mobo Backwards compatible with AM4
no
No
Duly noted
Use a completely different socket type
going by techpowerup the 6600 xt is about 6% slower than a 6700
Your only big upgrades from a 6600XT would maybe be a 6900? Or waiting for the 7900 series Tuesday?
And even then I wouldn't think the $$$$ to Perf. upgrade would make sense until you got to the 7900 level.
I was answering Vielen Dank
Outside of GPU, I'd practically have to build a new rig for AM5
I was more directing that at Paragon

Mom is getting married this month, and the guy she's marrying has... A ridiculous amount of money. (He's a great guy, she's marrying for him, not the money.)
I can't guarantee anything but. In theory I could make a new build with an almost unlimited budget should he grant that.
I should probably also look into a better monitor
Literally the 50 dollar Walmart monitor option
imagine all the frames with your new 4090
Bro, I can run pong (1972) at 9999999 frames
Something Something run modded Minecraft that has so many shaders that it looks like real life.
can you actually put machine oil on heatsink fan? not sure why h212 fan seems work differently compared to my pc case fan
I know the parts where you take off the sticker and put machine oil in, but the heatsink fan seems work differently, like when I try to spin it, it won't budge at all
while my pc case fan rotates seemlessly
Not that id recommend it but ive used generic machine oil on a few case fans before to quiet/revitalize the bearings
Look at the difference.. or am I not understanding this correctly and GPU/Heatsink behave differently compared to PC Case Fan
from my understanding from these 3 clips, the GPU and Heat Sink Fan need the machine oil lubrication?
depends on if the spindle is designed to be lubricated or if it's a sealed bearing
most fans are sealed since easier to sell and less maintnance until it eats itself
the heatsink fan seems sealed bearing :/
Is this a sealed bearing? Nvm I think it's not, lol
if the bearing is designed for maintnance it'll have access on the label side. edit for phrasing: as in remove the sticker, not disassemble the motor from the blades
that isnt a bearing thats the coils for the motor
a vast majority of fans are sealed bearings
no reason to service them
that fan is borked and needs to be replaced
before I put machine oil, it can barely moved
they probably tore the sticker to get access

I'm suprised you just didn't go buy a new fan
oh this one is the heatsink fan
You can stick another on it and be fine
I bought 5 new pcs case fans yeah
but it hasn't arrived yet
Currently wedged a noctua in my PSU rofl
Cut it out from the frame and shoved it in
It's the same size
Well
Mostly
I had to Dremel most of it because it's sff
I soldered it to the old jumpers and called it a day
DO NOT DO THE THINGS SARAH DOES
hahahaha
lol why did this channel disappear in the first place
hmm weird, I've been here for a while while deep cleaning my PC ._.
I feel like getting a 420mm CLC in case I upgrade to Zen 4 or Raptor Lake but I feel like it's incredibly overkill with a 5800X3D
why are you disassembling fans o_O
you won't need a 420, given how zen 4 works you'd still reach the high temps since it'd just see it as more headroom to boost
tbh I never took a fan apart before like that
did it click back together? XD
i thought the bearings would get wrecked
this one just happened to not sealed π
Unless you know what you are doing
I never knew my heatsink fan is this stucked before π€¦ββοΈ
It probably haven't done anything to cooldown my CPU for a while now
heh
so I have 1xM.2 PCIe Gen 3 x4 256GB SSD and 1x SATA 240gb SSD, which should I use for gaming, which one is for boot drive?
also just wondering, if the boot drive has too much space, can I make a partition from these 2 SSD to 100gb boot drive and 390gb gaming drive?
thanks
it looks like an uglier cosmos
than the one that already existed
i liked these though
what's the difference?
new one has more coolermaster logos? XD
hmm weird, why my CPU is 98 celcius
pretty sure I installed the stock CPU heatsink correctly ._.
ew Cooler Master
what did your paste application look like
it has it's own stand, no longer need hard surface underneath it π
the stock heatsink already have thermal paste applied to it
oh then it's probably just the stock heatsink being crap
this is strange
I only use gtx 1050
maybe I didn't apply it correctly zzzz
dammit CPU has been runing my life these past 2 weeks
so can't use stock cooler? zzz
My
Is the temperature in bios correct?
I was surprised cause the PC turned off on its own...
I can't really tell but it may be dried up
this is fresh off the box π₯²
ouch
I also got this error when I try to fresh install my windows 10
how do I install with UEFI?
oh that's an interesting one
when you hit f12 to boot something
there should be a menu giving you both uefi and bios options
yeah I don't remember, but now i'm too scared to turn it on cause the heat sink doesn't seem to be working
when you had it plugged in, was the fan running?
the thermal paste looks more than enough to keep ti below 98c
yep, I checked everything, all heatsink fan, intake fan and gpu fan were running
assuming that the part with no paste on the cpu, and the part with paste on the heatsink, were lined up
where was the cpu heatsink's fan plugged in?
was it plugged into the cpu fan header on the motherboard?
and are you sure it was saying 98c and not 98f?
because 98c is really really high for a computer sitting on the bios screen
well tbh I feel it from outside too, so must be correct, and the PC turned off on it's own
is that thermal paste only from the heatsink?!
cuz that looks like 2 different kinds of paste
yeah, the thermal paste was built in from the heat sink
I didn't put anything on the CPU itself
It was tidily applied
paper?
like I have to remove that first before sticking it on the CPU?
yeah, It shouldn't be
yea there's no paper
I didn't see any paper
sorry I was just curious because
the way that the part where you can see the ZEN showing throuhg lol
it's such a different shade of grey
the instruction also didn't say anything about taking something off π₯²
yea i doubt it needs anything taken off. in that video i saw, they pulled a plastic cover off (or it was sitting on one in the box)
how can stock heatsink failed so hard, dam
sooo
i don't think there was any kinda film or whatever
also if you feel hot air coming off the heatsink
it's doing its job
no, from the case, lol maybe cause the fan isn't facing the exhaust, but facing side of the PC
what i mean is
if the heatsink is getting hot, then the heatsink is installed correctly lol
but if it's 98c i wouldn't advise touching it
That's actually really hot. My 5600x with the stock cooler on a Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite runs at 44C when idle and a steady 83C when under 100% load for 24 hours. Consider looking into dusting your machine, adding high powered fans (Noctua's NF-A14 industrialPPC-3000 PWM case fans are solid) and look into your case's airflow. Mesh front is optimal. Finally, your motherboard may also be playing a role in your temps but it would be much smaller than your fans and case's impact.
also worth noting that 37c is 98f
and the PC turned off on it's own, Bios was updated to the last version
oh hmm, installation not correct?
this is pristine
and the matching part of the cpu was clean
which makes me think it wasn't seating all the way down on the chip
you don't need to redo your paste, just try and install the heatsink again

it looks to me like
if you lay your case on its side so that your heatsink is facing up like that
then set the heatsink on the cpu
you should be able to tell if it's making contact without even screwing it down
AMD's latest zen 3 Ryzen 5 5600x processor installation , unboxing.
that is so weird though.
why only 50%?
or like 50% each side periodically x 8, so it's 100% on each side in total
idk why they said 50% lol, I was just giving you some links for references
just make sure your cooler is seating all the way
You are correct, that pristine thermal paste was a good spotting π₯Ή
Back to 32 celcius
hurray!!
I guess I freaked out when the heatsink made the cracking sound. It was probably the spring doing the works
hey it's always good to be cautious!
So I was too afraid making it too tight π₯²

no
that is saying your flash stick is setup for uefi only
and your motherboard is in compatibility mode
what kinda board is it again?
Hmm how do I boot using UEFI?
maybe I missed it cause I checked the manual from the beginning till end
is it diferent manual ._.
the paper manual doesn't have this zzzz
fun
X_X hate it when that happens
my 6 years windows had so much shit, windows 10 original size is 30 gig, and mine was 60 gig++, and I didn't install anything on the boot drive π€¦ββοΈ
maybe it was just leftovers?
