degrade yourself harder
they're just the CMR versions lol
eugh
I really don't want to buy a nas when I can do it myself but I don't want to have yet another bigass case on my desk
the only cube one that holds more than 8 drives is .. node 804?
cept current wouldnt fit because its a mATX

yes and sometimes specific AIB
ie blocks for FE cards aren't guaranteed to work on a strix
cue that one linus video where they file the waterblock
Do the water block manufacturers usually release multiple water blocks?
i don't follow anyone but EK but they usually do for popular models, FE, general reference board, then some specific ones like strix etc
Ooo
I see
I've just been a bit iffy on goin water cooling
Esp as I dont know how long im hanging around here
Nah nah
I prob wont
Im prob air coolig
AND my laptop black screened again
Its a daily thing
4000 series cant come soon enough
Mine just black screen no response
Hacker demon
Nah. It fucks over everyone else
Ice, we'll hold the world ransom
Pay us to never set foot into anywhere which needs a 24/7 system uptime
Im actually window shopping cases atm
Lian Li cases are chonky eh
I started a new character on my potato laptop. Currently, I am playing on the lowest settings, laptop(low) which would lead to a constant 22-23 fps and when on high its 16-18 fps and auto-resolution. Despite being playable on gridonia and on next map(near gridonia)I have yet to expedienced many players. The question is would my laptop fair on populated perhaps city and or instances/raids?
what laptop is it? make/model
or do you know the cpu and graphics in it?
also when you say auto-resolution, what is it using?
are things like these, meant to take 10+ minutes
CPU: RYZEN 3 3250U
GPY: RADEON VEGA 3 GRAPHICS
RAM: 8GB RAM
MODEL/MAKE: ASUS EXPERT BOOK
RESOLUTION: 1360X768 on normal but I don't know if the auto resolution actually work.
I expect you'll have a hard time raiding, but all you can really do is try
Auto resolution is still broken pretty sure, best bet is try the driver version
But idk if it works for vega
Anyone use Anker charger for charging Dualsense?
Anker make a bunch of different chargers
i got a dualsense from the gf for my birthday
sony don't even provide a charge cable
even nintendo isn't that stingy
they want you to buy the charging dock probably
Is that the same laptop you've sent in like half a dozen times?
USB chargers negotiate the charge rate, so most of them should be fine. I've only heard of edge cases like the Nintendo Switch which has an obscure voltage, so I've heard of people running into issues where their chargers are all 12V or 18V but not all 18V chargers can negotiate to 15V
For something basic like a controller, I'm sure it's only drawing like 5V@1A or something
They only have a 250maH battery in them afaik
Switch is 5V and 15V
Yeah so maybe what happened was the 18V chargers sometimes could only do 12V or 5V, so they were down-negotiating to 5V and the Switch was losing charge while plugged in.
I just remember people stressing to make sure any 3rd party charger you bought for the switch could actually do 15V
there's a cap on the unit rate yeah
but until yesterday it was reviewed every 3 months and going up rapidly
from october it's going up like 25% more, but won't go higher than that for 2 years
it's gonna be £2500/yr
but that's not a smart way to say it
that's based on the imaginary average user family
that's outdated
because yesterday they announced the £2500 cap for 2 years
but before that it was touted that it'd be £7k by april
for context, I pay 29.23p/kWh PLUS a standing charge of 37.65p/day
that's for electricity
it'll go up by around 25%, from the £1971 cap to £2500 cap
gas is 7.34p/kWh and stand charge of 27.22p/day
yes
I'm poor so we're pretty careful about our usage, don't have the heating on unless we really need it etc
and from October we'll be paying at least 300 CAD per month
might be more, that's just a guesstimate
yeah my unit rate is gonna be 4x yours
Ice you use 3x as much electricity as me
That's the 3090 alone
we used 355kwh last month
4 here, wife and two kids, 13+10
speedy how much electricity did you use last month?
yeah that's obscene
my provider estimates my annual usage is 4500kwh
so yeah you use 4x as much
probably even more gas
my current direct debit is £156/month for electricity and gas combined
gonna be £200+ from october
that's 700kwh per month
your ACs use 2x my whole electricity usage
surely it'd be cheaper long term to fit proper AC?
the ones above the gray are our current market prices for various providers
💀
the grey is what I currently pay because I locked in a contract before the crazy price jump
wtf
yeah fully 4x my usage lol
I might be dumb, but the whole world should just build a fuckload of wind, solar and wave farms and never worry about fuel again
idk
Holy fuck, that's the power bill for a townhouse? And it didn't even come with A/C?
I kinda wish I only had a wall unit for A/C. My 1BDR here, it was like another $40/mo in A/C costs this summer
And that's with me setting it to 74/75. But its central air so you're always cooling the entire place
Weren't you shopping for multi-zone heat pump? Or are you renting?
For how many units?
They're full of shit.
I'd be curious what their itemized breakdown was
Bc there's no way the installation parts cost 200% of the base unit
I assume you tried shopping around for other quotes?
Hmm... bah fuck it. I'll get myself a new PSU I guess.
Considering the prices on them are marked down so much atm, and I was going to spend like $50-60 on one for the gift PC. That's another $60 off in a roundabout way if I just pass over the 850W
I also planned another PC upgrade for 15th gen, so I would probably need more overhead for that anyways
Oh yay, more indecisiveness: That article about EVGA numbering schemes was written like 4 years ago. The prices he claims for P2 and T2 models line up with the current "sale prices" ... so it seems like instead of a sale, it's just the marked up prices coming down after ppl stopped buying them when the 30 series rush died
i mean for 15th gen and gpus you'll likely need another new psu because PCIE 5.0/atx 3.0
I'm sure there would be an adapter for the pins, but point taken.
Also right after I said I would buy it I then found that info that the prices are just coming down from markups so its not really a sale
one benefit of giving the 850w with the gift, is seeing as it's a 9900k they should be able to upgrade the gpu later and get an extra few years out of it
Wouldn't be able to fit it in this case though, I think. 180mm for the current one is already a tight fit. That one is 220mm
Thick
Actually I take that back, it would probably work. the PSU shroud area is almost twice the length of the 180mm so it would probably be okay
But even if I maxed out the 13900K and got a 4080, I doubt it would need 1600 heh
I forgot about the new PSU standard, so at the very least, I can hold off on the PSU for now and see if more ATX 3.0 models are on shelves this fall
2000w PSU, where u at silverstone
bruh wtf do you want/need 2k for
new xbox?
Hmm... while it looks like my case can fit a 360mm radiator on top, the info says 240 only. Front mounting is janky imho. Wonder if I could get away with a 240mm only with the 13900k
yep, a lone 240mm fan
Hmm... well if I did front-mount a 360mm, I wonder which is better, intake or exhaust for the top fans then
Aesthetically, exhaust looks better bc the "front" of the fan is visible, but the GPU would probably be a little cooler if you did intake on top
Yes.
It is EXCEPTIONALLY stupid
And the consumer laws here are shitastic
What, and everyone get shit ass chinese no name hardware that fails?
I just make it a point to shit on their products whenever possible
Placeholder pricing for RTX 4090 is here Australia becomes the first country to list upcoming NVIDIA RTX 40 graphics cards. Gigabyte GeForce RTX 3090 Ti GAMING OC Gigabyte models are now confirmed by first retailer in Australia. The SKU models have become known thanks to the other retailer from Vietnam. So, not only are retailers […]
LMAO
I know its prob placeholder
But HOLY FUCKING SHIT
Can you imagine the balls on nvidia if they list it at 2.6k USD
Aus dollars are worthless!
It’s not double performance
@odd sand you're involved with email server stuff right?
Uhh sorta. I didn't handle configuration or anything really, just spam/phishing monkey
Sorting out blocks, etc.
that's actually more than enough
granted, i dont know if you know the answer, but is there a way to get outlook to completely ditch receiving emails that dont have content?
it's a pain in the god damn ass to block domains and i'd rather have a single rule that catches everything
Emails with no body content?
@late basalt Looks like in typical MS fashion, the only way is the ultra-jank way: https://www.extendoffice.com/documents/outlook/3227-outlook-block-email-with-no-subject.html
You can apply the same technique on the body instead of the subject. Dunno how it affects performance.
Although theoretically you could probably get away with just using lowercase a-z
Or the "wheel of fortune method" of rstln and vowels
simple, just block all email, unsubscribe from office 365, and revel in your newfound freedom
idk what it is, but no carriers can sell these fucking things in the US. my sister is going to get a free one by adding a line
idk if it's the flip or fold though
I like that they finally fixed outlook 365 web to show encrypted email but it's not cross compatible with people that use the fat 2016 client still
that's how the teach knew in class
My anker chargers won’t charge my Dualsense. With different cables too
And it only happen to usb c to usb c. I can only charge it using USB A to USB C
Weird. Mine does. Oh maybe thats why yeah mine is A
I saw in a video that not all USB C charger is universal
I want to have one charger for my devices. That’s why I’m asking if there is a Anker charger that can work with Dualsense (:
message Anker, they're quite responsive
I have the 30w Google charger
Usb-c to usb-c worked just fine on my dualsense
Seems to have good compatibility on all my devices though, probably adheres to the right standards
https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Charger-Durable-Compact-Included/dp/B099F558S1?ref_=ast_sto_dp i got one of these and have had no problems with any device
you don't need constant hot water, set that shit on a timer
can you not just get a timer fitted?
If its a new water heater, see if you can get it looked at/replaced under warranty. That doesn't sound normal.
Thanks, I did that a couple of days ago. Haven’t heard a response. Still waiting! 👍
How about charging Dualsense?
playstation controllers since ds3 require handshake before they accept charge
so needs a cord that does data too
and a charger that can interact with it
sounds like time for a hybrid water heater... if they didn't cost 1100 buckazoids easy
(angy noises)
lol
that is totally a state of mind thing
some people are like "fuck cold showers, i'm gonna get a giant water tank yo"
I use 2 different types of USB C anker cable too.
With this charger https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Charger-Durable-Compact-Included/dp/B099F558S1
and this charger https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Charger-Durable-Compact-Included/dp/B09C5SC9FW
This cable: https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Powerline-Certified-Charging-MacBook/dp/B0971CKQ8H
And this one: https://www.ankerjapan.com/products/a8033
All of them won't charge Dualsense. But can charge Nintendo Switch with no problem. Furthermore, both of those cables won't charge Dualsense when plugged into PS5 either
Anker Powerline+ II USB C Cable, USB C to USB C (6ft, 60W) USB-IF Certified Cable, Type C Charging Cable, Fast Charge for MacBook Air, iPad Pro, iPad Air 4, Galaxy, Pixel, and More(Black)
Japanese cable 😍
I wonder if the negotiation chip on your controller is kaput so it needs the dumb A/C cable to bypass it
seeing how J1772 works for EV charging it's like, why doesn't every cable have a sense pin for that?
"hi, I have +15V on pin 5, you can supply 250W to me"
Not sure. The controller is not that long. How can I check?
I mean, you could try a cable you know is designed to transfer power and data and see if it works
I accidentally bought a data-only USB C cable because apparently that's a thing and my headphones won't work with it because it needs power and data
Any brand comes to mind?
I always use Anker since I know about em and got no problems till now
yeah, I wouldn't suspect anker is bad
if the cable works for charging other devices it might be your controller
I had a problem where my anker wall wart and C-C cable stopped charging my phone, but when I unplugged it and let it cool down for a few hours it started working again
I bought Micro USB that use steel cable long time ago
still work to this day, I use it everyday to charge my MP3 player
I don't think It has a brand at all
But the controller still charge if using USB A to USB C cable
USB A doesn't have any logic behind it
you get 5W because that's what the connector supplies, it doesn't communicate with the battery management module
USB C has a lot of data going back and forth because the charging spec can supply anywhere from 5 to 250W
I see
so the cable, source, and sink all need to agree on what power can be distributed without blowing up the cable or sink
Might just gonna wait for a reply from Anker Support
yeah, they would know better than I do
USB-C's frustratingly byzantine specs and rolling compliance for cables, sources, and sinks is so annoying to navigate
if you want to understand what your device needs you have to go through like six charts and make sure they all agree with each other before you buy a cable or charger
oh, you want USB C 3.1 2x2 gen 3? hope you know what any of that shit means
because that isn't necessarily the More Gooder version of the spec or cable
Yeah, I watched that too in YT. So I wonder why some countries would like to push for USB C as the general use when some have show that it’s not as universal as they think it is
the problem is that you need a spec to lean against and USB C's connector is fine
the next problem is that there's subsets of USB C that are almost legacy compliance more than anything else
https://videocardz.com/newz/pci-sig-concerned-about-potential-thermal-variance-with-12vhpwr-pcie-gen5-power-cable-adapters not looking good for adapter possibility
The good ol "4 is actually worse than 3.5 but 3.1 is better than 4.1 and 4 is better than 3.1" looking ass "standards"
10/10 today's project is unfucking this
Also decided to put up a random monitor lol
sarah needs dusting
Yeah that monitor was in storage for god knows how long
t-thanks amazon
you mean you haven't already?
Non ecc??? That’s actually awful
Ddr5 ecc is supposed to be standard
yeah I think this is the only 128 kit I've seen
I know that doesn't sound sensible but
I wonder if it even has the integrated controller on the pcb
DDR5's built-in ECC isn't quite the same as the ECC we knew up until now
It still looks fake/cutting corners to be ddr5
you should actually do it on a cheap kb for fun, get a janky £5 one and go nuts
but ugh, glitter
prolly gonna have to wait a while until 128 is supported.. ain't gonna try buying 64 at those $$$ prices only to go 128 later
also gluing it up like that will make it waterproof
or at least significantly more water resistant
I'm gonna guess the keys dont move anymore
ya but that improves the water resistance
it's just like securing a computer by disabling all the ports
What do you need that much memory for
Waterproof phone by removing charging ports/speakers/buttons
https://www.reddit.com/r/hardware/comments/nixrbe/all_ddr5_sticks_should_have_sideband_ecc_in/
this kinda goes into what I meant about the ECC not entirely being what I'd think of as ECC
already regularly use close to 64 for uh, "light" workloads I'd say so more memory is more better
I guess if I reuse my current hardware I can get away with 64 for a while though
the only problem is I need more memory already
Only way to charge is with qi charging
people on /r/apple keep acting like apple should just get rid of ports on the iphone instead of adding usb-c
ew
did they work out fast charging yet
salt
pjsalt
Whenever i turn my pc on, i only see a black screen
I can move my cursor but cant do shit else
Wtf
Am I like one of the few people in tech who's like go home with your fancy smancy voice controls and wireless stuff, gimme ports and buttons?
what do U mean
put the pizza in the Alexa™️ Microwave then say "ALEXA, COOK MY PIZZA FOR 30 SECONDS" that's the future man
dont worry, if you go to japan they will look at you like that!
gotta pay with sweet sweet hard cash
shrimple, just live in a van
@umbral moss you shouldn't have linked that n74 I keep thinking about it every day

still though I think it's only viable as a production car if they use the g70 v6 or all electric
the nearest hydrogen station is 300 miles from me lol.
Try reseating gpu and different hdmi/dp slot
My old motherboard did that shit and that was how i fixed it
??? Wtf do you need 100tb for
8k hentai
impress girls by showing them your RAID array
depends, 70TB on 6 or maybe like 50 in Z3 dawg. other than doing general media ripping and storage, I can use ~100GB a day in raw photos or up to 1TB in video
🤨
You can trash most of them but its not hard with 30-60mp cameras these days
hmm
i just realized there is one downside to the airport express being used as a router...
no vpn host
and sadly edgerouters are unobtanium
so are unifi routers lol
and i'm not paying $400 for a unifi dream machine pro
are they? edgerouters were always available a couple years ago
still kinda disappointed the home 10gbe front hasn't changed much
gotta love mfg's "10gb capacity" attempts though
can get an edgerouter x sfp from a scalper on amazon for like $138 lol
that's only $38 tax! you should be used to such ventures, as a california resident
Video editing I assume

Build me a keyboard, gamers
The k95 fought the good fight against an IPA and lost
Ummm
My friend keep getting this
Can someone help and tell me what’s going on?
I am unsure what this is
swap to dx9 through the launcher
the game will look worse but you will not get those errors anymore

Not like you'll be able to afford the newest gen 80/90
Is dx9 still supported? Huh
no but it isn’t deprecated either
I mean, the shit is probably gonna be jacked up in price to all hell tho
So you are willing to spend a billion dollars on a 4090 that MAY come out this year
Or a 4080 that MAY come out February
Or wait even longer for the other skus
When you probably won't ever use the performance
Just get a 3080.
But the 4080 might be $500 right guise
bullshit like that makes me think the 3060 ti I got at the beginning of the year feel like an actually decent deal ($600 usd)
between the msrp going to the moon and the electricity cost going to shit
told you
they're just going to push up the price range each time they get burned by cryptobros
since they sell the previous gen at those inflated prices anyway, so why lower them ever
3900 to 4300 AUD (2900 USD, 2660 Euro)
imagine charging a used cars worth of money for a graphics card

Guys, is this a right place to ask for not working controller in ff14?
It worked on other games on my pc
throw the speccccc
probably because you are using steam and you are using steam controller support
FFXIV already have a native controller support since It's JP game, console market is more popular there
Do we need to create a GoFundme for a new laptop for you?
he has money, he's just like Raz, wants to buy new shit but waiting for the perfect new shit whilst enjoying complaining

turn off steam controller support, also I'm not sure about that controller sorry
that was the issue ❤️
Im so glad for your help!
I'm wondering if it would be better for GPU temps and being able to keep the noise at a minimum if I tied my exhaust fans to my GPU temp and just let my CPU AIO work normally.
A revision of 12th gen, but fair enough. And honestly, I think that's generally fine. Most people who buy an i3 are getting it for general computing and not gaming or high workloads.
Also considering they're moving to chiplet architecture with 14th gen, maybe they're looking to clear out inventory of silicon ahead of that by branding like, 12400F as 13100 or something
I don't get it
Honestly, I feel like companies demanding you pay them to use their products in a show is a perversion of IP laws.
If you bought a product and own it, you shouldn't need any more permissions to use something.
It's not like you pay Fruit of the Loom to wear a tshirt on TV
Oh god Cross Ange...
I made it like 90 seconds into the first episode and stopped and deleted it
Nope. I took piano lessons for like 2 years when I was little, but it didn't stick.
I learned to read music bc I took band for like 6-7 years
You just have to practice until you have the muscle memory that seeing a certain note is a certain set of button presses on the instrument
ios 16 finally coming tomorrow
IMHO piano is one of the harder ones bc it involves a lot of fingers at once and possibly even foot pedals
I think if piano when I was a kid was taught with more pop/rock songs it would have stuck easier
But they always teach with classical and that is so zzz
Something like the backing piano from Empire State of Mind would be a lot more engaging than Mozart
probably laws about inadvertent product placement
BOOBIES
Just a new desktop. Then mods can ban me after i post it here

Remaining 12th gen and Ryzen 5000 series will probably get marked down this fall
At least, dat was the impression i got frm it
Nono, that was just talkin shop, in essence
I've not fully started researchin so i just casually browse news
Not hoping for reduced ryzens since i'd probably go intel
¯_(ツ)_/¯
I just... couldn't. That prologue clip where she rages and jumps out of the jet with the machinegun was just so cringe I NOPE'd out.
Hah, Valvrave. That one at least started looking like it could be good. It wasn't a disappointment until the last half or third. But I can totally understand the Entertaining vs Good dichotomy.
There are a number of shows I put into the Entertaining camp that were objectively terrible shows
fucking yikes at that warning sticker
lol, well I imported them from Australia...
I think they've had a UK release since though

im not bothered actually
i got a zenbook right
if i die in a game the laptop goes to sleep
funniest thing ever
It is within your power to rob that bank!
i sold my computer recently actually
bought a ps5 and actually having a blast with it

Where pc demon souls
Coming with PC bloodborne
Lewis with the best decisions
Escape pc problems solved
user issue
wouldn't be surprised if that word was in the chat filter
Pussy
i mean probably going to lose to 13th gen but the benefit is the socket being used for multiple gens not just 12/13th for example
so you're saying amd is going to win? 🤔
I'm referring to you trying to cope with the defeat by clinging to the socket
i mean technically amd beat intel already with the x3d only for gaming but since x3d products aren't coming until supposedly next year, they'll likely lose until they are out
and not even a 13900ks will save intel because x3d will just be that much better thermally/budget wise
Depends on which AMD you're talking about. Their server platforms twice had sockets that lasted only like 1 gen didn't they?
that's servers which 99% of us in here don't use
anyway who gives a fuck about a socket lasting forever
i mean it's a plus for consumers who want to save a buck
you're not going to buy a brand new 5000 series cpu and stick it on a board that only has pcie 2.0
look at me, my 5800x3d fits on my 2016 mobo, yay
big deal
i mean it gives massive gains in performance without having to buy a bunch of new shit to upgrade
if you're trying to save a buck you're skipping several generations anyway
exactly why being able to go from 7000 to say 10000 series will be nice
or whatever it may be
same way for going from 1700x -> 5800x3d or 5000 series in general
plus only half the am4 boards can support zen 3 afaik, only as far back as b450
so it's really not as great as shills like you make out
I think it's a novel feature, but not one the majority of people care about enough. Because the ones strapped on cash enough to utilize it won't be upgrading a CPU after only 2-3 years
right
it's a gimmick for nerds like bidori
like I'll try to get at least 4 years out of this 12700k
And if you're going 5-6 years then yeah, you're way behind on motherboard features. Like 2.5gbe pcie5. wifi6, etc. Some boards even coming with onboard 10gbe
in 2026 I don't want to buy a cpu and drop it on a 2022 board
Without a doubt any CPU these days you can get 4 years out of. Apps aren't pushing hardware that heavily on the consumer front
yeah, potentially upgrade the gpu in a few years and get a few more years after that
not true, you could do 5000 series on older boards such as a320 but some of the 300 series support came way later which is how it is for budget anyways, they're waiting for release of budget options 🤷♂️
only on asus and gigabyte, no?
no
On 12 November 2021, according to TechPowerUp, ASUS and Gigabyte are the few vendors that allowed Ryzen 5000 on A320 motherboard and according to Tom's Hardware it was done by removing support for AMDs 7th Generation A-series and Athlon X4 series (Bristol Ridge) processors.
that's what wiki says
but hey it can be wrong
it is wrong
https://www.techpowerup.com/255531/biostar-releases-3rd-gen-ryzen-support-bios-updates-for-am4-motherboards lets take the shittiest company for example
it was just a matter of manufacturers actually supporting it
only an idiot would do it
snsv
lmao of course they would cave and change the name bc ppl think the other fabs are doing much smaller process bc they faked the nm names https://www.tomshardware.com/news/intel-process-packaging-roadmap-2025
Intel changing the name of their 10nm process to 7 to align with AMD calling theirs 7 when it wasn't.
Intel plans to begin an entirely new era in the first half of 2024: The angstrom era. These chips represent the point where some physical features can no longer be accurately measured in nanometers, or billionths of a meter. Instead, these features will now be measured in angstroms, or one ten-billionth of a meter. The first angstrom-class process from Intel will come as 20A (A is for angstrom), which brings RibbonFET, Intel's first gate-all-around (GAA) transistor, and PowerVia, a novel approach to delivering power to incredibly small transistors.
Angstrom sounds cool and pretentious at the same time
I think it’s wild that for about $14 you can get a lightbulb that has wifi and Bluetooth with a system on chip running inside there
And it looks like a normal friggin lightbulb
How quickly does a $14 smart bulb break tho /s
yeah but its from CHINA
they are listening to your every move!
they know what color you like to have the lightbulb on a wednesday
Damn kids and their smart bulbs
but it's smart, it must be better
everything must be networked and connected to the cloud and transmitting reams of unaccounted for data to an unknown data host
put dat shit on isolated lan all so you can say ALEXA PARTY TIME and die of epilepsy
they really be leaning into these stupid designs huh
aren't these intentional because of the phased antenna configuration?
I'm never buying a traditional router AP combo again
we're tossing it off a building and seeing if it flies
also, I still want that asus AXE16000
it looks like an exploded spider but it has stupid amounts of bandwidth handling
was looking atm ore 10g switches and there are a few that are relatively affordable at least
it's wild seeing my ISP offer 5Gbit internet as a realistically affordable option
not like "yeah we offer it but it's $500 a month"
from people that've gotten installed they get about 800 symmetrical but we'll see when they 100% roll out service if it stays that high
I think with HDDs on a NAS i'd only need 1G for write saturation and maybe 2.5G for read
or slightly more idk. 7200rpm drives probably only hit what 150
150 MB/s, yeah
even with a large onboard cache
it's funny that when 7200 rpm drives first came out everyone was like "wow, it gets 130MB/s, so fast" and now we're bitching about SSDs being fractions of a percent away from each other at 7.5GB/s
i only care about NVMe stats if it's sustained
love that YOU CAN RUN SSD BENCHMARK FOR 10 SECONDS AND IT HITS 7GB/S WOW
then in any other workload it dies
sustained read/write ops are only for like, server loads though
if you're an average joe sixpack you use your drive in ten second bursts and it's idle most of the time
so there's no real point to looking at QD64+ sustained write speeds
completely useless for the average user scenario
i need to feel superior knowing that my drive in workloads nobody else uses is better

Why else would you buy a 980 pro
directstorage
alas, a feature that will never, ever be used
Brb building a NAS usin purely SSDs
My friend's nas is a pi4 with a 1tb sata ssd lol
its fine just give me 50TB of SSD storage, that will cost what only.. like.. 50k
that's low numbers https://youtu.be/BBnomwpF_uY
By far the most storage ever attached to a single Raspberry Pi. Massive thanks to 45Drives for making this possible!

1TB only?
yes
maybe i have a distorted view
my friend repurposed his desktop
so he runs a ridiculous storage capacity
but HDDs
he does photos etc
so he shoots in some cursed format
friend basically just uses it to serve anime
FFXIV's patcher is a torrent client
I think most game patchers use some variety of a torrent client these days
well yeah that is another thing a nas can do
also, I remember when XIV's launcher was such a piece of shit the only way to patch the game was to start the download, wait for it to fail, and then open the fucking torrent file it downloaded in a real torrent client so it could download the patch properly lmao
we'll be talking about an anime and he'll set stuff to dl in rtorrent on his nas remotely
does he run a plex server on his pi?
nah
I mean, windows is run by a multi billion dollar company, they can afford to provide some superseeders
also, XIV's torrent patcher was fucking awful and it almost always failed lmao
I still have a directory filled with the torrent files to patch 1.0 to 1.23
the computer that had 1.0 on it died
I don't have a legacy install anymore 😭
should ping her probably
really?
@potent arrow hi ilu
let's see if I get shanked
we'll see lol
They're near Vancouver in the loosest sense of the word apparently heh
How do you pronounce Coquitlam? Coe-kit-lam?
Oconomowoc is a fun Wisconsin one
I remember as a kid someone pulled into the driveway to ask for directions to "oh-coe-nom-in-a-wock"
Richmond is in Surrey
It literally is
Okay I'm wrong
Technically it was transferred to Greater London
london's in ontario
Richmond was formerly part of the ancient parish of Kingston upon Thames in the county of Surrey. In 1890, the town became a municipal borough, which was later extended to include Kew, Ham, Petersham and part of Mortlake (North Sheen).[9] The municipal borough was abolished in 1965, when, as a result of local government reorganisation, Richmond was transferred from Surrey to Greater London
I'm not talking about fake Richmond and fake Surrey, you Commonwealth peasant
also london was the littlest hobo
I used to watch that
It's my civic duty to pick on Canadians, Australians, etc
shue keeping the british raj alive in 2022
Better watch yourself, or AU will sic the emus on you again
Then decided they wanted to keep that remote penal colony spirit by maintaining shit internet services to this day
He's waiting to go to the gym with you and lift
also a horrendous import/export tariff so getting anything australian related is a nightmare
Yeah their games are still $125 AUD despite not having a physical product to import anymore
That's not how this works

How many hours until iOS 16?
Because politicians want their money no matter what
How hard it is to make a game to run in better fps and resolution?
plz
also, heater units need their own breaker panel and wiring by design
so if something happens you don't have to turn off the entire fucking service
I think you should hire a professional, or fly Sarah to you and pay her
I say this because I don't want you to die
It’s been that way for a while now, they did that back in 2021 as you can see by the article date
Get an electrician.
don't worry, they'll get to 100 when you start driving
alright poshboy
just give me money and I'll show you photos of a place to live
Bro
I know someone who tried to jump starta car engine with the battery of an electric car lol
that worked wonderfully for exactly 1 microsecond before the starter exploded
Actually think he was jumpstarting his RV now that I recall it
not any better
attaching 800VDC to a motor meant for 48V at most is bad news for those poor commutators
just going to blow the switching contacts right off
you speak to them politely and ask them to be more careful
have the parents responded?
is there damage?
put a camera up
This isn't the same magnitude but
Some kid jumped on a ketchup pack outside McDonald's and ketchup splattered on me and my partner. Kid apologised but come onnn
rekt
Yeah you enjoy that Heinz smell
they don't use heinz anymore
Set up security camera asap, so you can have proof for insurance when they inevitable damage your car lol
McD's dropped Heinz ketchup because Heinz appointed the former Burger King boss as the Heinz boss
nope they use their own now
it tastes similar of course
but no mcdonalds use heinz anymore
after Warren Buffet bought heinz a burger king guy got appointed as CEO and they dropped Heinz

What the fuck no Heinz
Last time I eat there
It’s like if you saw hunts
Imagine buying hunts
Shit tastes like vinegar and diarrhea
I won’t buy anything other than Heinz
so much cheaper
Heinz is the ketchup
you are a single rich boomer with no kids though babe
True

Not until next month
My Chevy is on its last legs
Shit rattles clunks and the whole 9 yards
Tons of electrical issues, cords shorting out
Lmao
I’m tired of putting money into it, just give me my truck
What is that
A Chinese automaker?

Heinz ketchup is 3.7x the price of aldi ketchup
I guess if you use it a lot it adds up. A bottle lasts me awhile so it never bothered me but yeah with a family that shit adds up
3.7x better
as an american, we must add ketchup to all food
it gets used a fair amount, my son has bbq sauce with everything though
it is an excellent way to get your extra vegetable intake
for this we adhere to the ancient tradition of sweet baby rays
he's 10, he gets aldi sauce and loves it
i wish i didnt
soon he will learn the wisdom of america's founding father, mike suckerberg, and become bougie

Anyone experiencing loose port on ip13 series?
This post explained it better
https://www.reddit.com/r/iPhone13/comments/qfnlt7/iphone_13_pro_loose_charging_port/
sounds like something I'd contact apple about
I did but unfortunately my phone type is rare lately and the issue can’t be really replicated on the go. So I’ll have to put my only phone for some days which is not an option 😦
< ARGH
with these smart lights the ne thing i was really looking forward to ws the remote
and neither of the ones I bought seem to work at all 😦 GG
and for as many as they've sold ,the wizmote doesn't have much documentation
Ya wiz stuff barely works in my experience
member when I said lightning's key weakness was that the retention springs are part of the port and not the cable, making the entire fuckin phone useless when the springs failed?
and USB-C was specifically designed to reverse it so the springs are on the cable, which is easy to replace if it breaks?
My iPhone is fairly new
that doesn't mean the springs can't eat shit
loose connector + poor contact to the lightning spade sounds a lot like the connector springs are fucked and it's not gripping the cable correctly
A month old and I’m always careful
I see. But why it happens after 1 hour or so. But temporarily fixed after I replugged?
I read on some posts that the issue goes away if I use the original cable and charger from Apple
just get a wireless charger
then you don't have to worry about it dying
Yeah, that’s what I’m planning if it gets worse over time
if it's only a month old, I'd get that shit refunded
I would like to bring it to a service center but my iPhone type is quiet rare in my area and the issue is rare where I can’t force replicate it. Which then I have to leave my phone with them for awhile. It’s my only phone :/
buy a cheap temporary phone, something used
there's still people making crypto shit though
saw a router on indiegogo that's some kind of stupid ass eth-based POS router
I still don't know what the point of having crypto on your fucking router is if you're not getting paid to rent unused bandwidth out
i mean crypto shit will likely keep developing
I'm just puzzled how anyone thought it was a good use of anyone's time to make a blockchain system that is only powered by routers
like, great, the mining system is POS and it uses a relatively low cost of entry device, but why
what does blockchain benefit you, especially if you're not being paid in a useful way
i'd like the round look more if there was a series of heatpipes also curved around the front
why aren't there any really exotic designs out there
just big bricks and big round bricks
too expensive to design i guess 😔
So far the lights are working great though
Just that stupid remote
I’m sending the remotes back and keeping the lights lol
The way they did wiz seems ok enough anyway, I think the light bulbs run a web server and you can spam it with Jason
Json
I’ve already explained to you the lightning port is very robust
Do you even own an iPhone? Probably not. I also love to talk about things I have no experience with either
I never used it I’ve heard it’s pretty good
my kingdom for an RCA jack
I don't need my phone to be thinner than a credit card so it can be bent if I put it in my back pocket
My XS battery is at 84% after 3.5 years hehe
they look like shoes
I think it's funny that the edgerouter i bought didn't come with an ethernet cable, but the camera I bought did 😄
like a 'to configure this thing' 3 footer
oh yea I figured out this stupid thing with the wizmotes
they don't say it anywhere, but if I select a particular lightbulb in a room in the app before trying to add the wizmote, and then stand by said lightbulb with the wizmote, it pairs right away
if I try to add it to the room with no particular bulb selected, it won't pair lol
also these amcrest cams >>
they revised them but kept the same product listing
Buy Ratchet Teardrop 3/8
I want this
But 140 bucks
I know it’s NAPA so it’s a premo
it's a shame raspberry pis are such a ripoff atm
i mean, so was the edgerouter x I ended up getting ahahaha
oh that's if you can get one
at least I have a vpn server now though
but i wanted to setup home assistant too
oh well
Before I bought my UDM at home I wanted an er4
Nice and beefy
The erx is great for messing around with all the toys and then realizing 256mb ram and storage isn’t much lol
I’m not even there though so no worries 😄
i have a pi pico in my gamecube
worse, it's real but the company is a techbro startup with VC funding
so they can afford to pay you for 3 months and then the company goes under
how well do you know blockchain, anyway
I guarantee that's their company focus, some kind of nebulous blockchain shit that's trying to reinvent the wheel in a perfectly fine use case
we utilize blockchain to manage inventory transactions from birth to death
also known as a fucking inventory management software
thanks, this is useless
blockchain doesn't do anything better than a standard ERP software frontend on a database
if i wanted erp software frontends i'd just go to limsa
4 hours of computation later aha, i found the inventory asset!
Noice. Glad I waited. Price dropped $15, plus $20 off instant coupon + $20 rebate card. So final price of $145 then + tax/shipping
but wot did you buy
Corsair H150i AIO
With the +$20 "white tax" heh
The regular version is MSRP $180 instead of 200
Also why the fuck Newegg... I ordered 3 things earlier in the week and they're shipping each one separately on the same day from the same warehouse
I can understand the case being separate bc its probably just sent in its own box. But the other 2 could have easily gone in their own box together
i like mine ^^
I dunno how I feel about a front mount, but its the only spot I can use 360mm on this case. Have to see if I can repurpose the front case fans it came with, otherwise I have the ones on the old AIO I can use as intake or exhaust
Purely an aesthetic problem, but exhaust from the top would have the fans facing the correct way. flipping them around wouldnt look as nice but sometimes you have to make sacrifices for thermals I guess
i have mine on top of the radiator pulling air off it 😄
Well if I have a front mount, the top fans wouldn't be attached to a rad
Nephew likes red, so rather than include my existing fans with the AIO when I pass the old hardware over, I got some red led fans to put on it instead
Along with the red Fractal Design Focus G
Buy a new phone or you can't see your battery charge. Sounds legit.
I'm sure there's a good technical reason for it
let's wait for someone to come in and explain why not having it is good, actually
I'm sure it's something simple like the notch is too wide in the older phones to fit it on there, but that goes back to the notch being a stupid idea in the first place
they probably removed it because people complained about the UI when they added it
Or here's a thought: Let people decide what they want in their ribbon and don't worry about it
I mean, there still isn't a "clear all" that removes all notifications
I'm a big fan of my pixel 2 XL getting notifications in parallel with my main phone and when I go to clear the notification it takes like 40 minutes of clearing 1000+ notifications out
just live a minimal lifestyle where nobody contacts you
now you don't have to worry about it
see, it's not the product that needs to change, it's you
the cosmic brain strategy
suffer in notification hell then
you shouldn't
sounds like BC is a long lost US state
you are legally entitled to: work until you die
you are not legally entitled to: any protections or benefits as an employee
white collar workers tend to be mistreated because they get paid so much
you can work 90 hour weeks because you get paid $500k a year
I wouldn't do 60 for it either
there's no justification for working 60 hours a week, you're not getting 50% more productivity out by working those extra 20 hours
that's straight copium
every minute you spend working is just draining your resolve to do a good job
I should find a new job but I don't know what I want to do
Blind them with your lasers to clear your escape route
I just want to get paid to do something interesting
That's very subjective and only something you can answer for yourself heh
I assume it will be like the 13900KS which won't be out right away
instant savings! save $1 on a 3090 ti!
one crisp paulbuck
$1.50
it's fine though, they're going to sell the 4090 for $4000 so they can afford to give a single digit discount
just needs to go faster than the 3090
nvidia has a long legacy of selling products they know will catch fire
for all zero % of the time you're getting those XXXTREME overclocks anyway
my titan can barely manage 2050 core before it starts to eat shit
Are you fucking kidding me? They advertise it as 1700 compatible and say to contact the maker for the proper bracket ... the link sends you to a corsair page where they SELL you the 1700 retention kit for $8... https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Accessories-|-Parts/PC-Components/Cooling/LGA1700-Retrofit-Kit/p/CW-8960091
... it didn't come with it?
pretty sure mine did...
nah i just bought mine from best buy
and the funnier part is it's a regular h150i elite in black
so it could've easily been old stock
That's why I'm gonna wait on ordering the bracket until I see what I receive.
At any rate, they shouldn't charge for something like that if they don't include it. And if they do, it's on them for not updating their item descriptions.
Socket 1700 has been around for over a year now.
I considered doing a full watercooling setup, but really don't want to spend over $500 on a watercooling solution atm when the CPU and motherboard will be quite expensive already
the h150i reviews on amazon suggest they're shipping them with 1700 brackets
i agree though
I expected it would be maybe 300-400, then when I specced it out I think it was going to be like 750 or something...
Just the CPU
I used the configurator for my case and hardware
I think it was also split-rad bc its the 570X, so it was going to do 240 top 120 rear
I'm just going to front mount the 150i. Dunno what I'm gonna do with the existing front fans, may have to just shelve them as spare parts
I've got time though bc I probably won't get my hands on the CPU until Nov

I’m leaving 😭
👋
Why does that leaked 4090 card look like a slipper
so you can bludgeon someone with it
Thiccest slipper ever
sega sports tennis
I mean, you can buy VPP655s and never worry about pressure/tubing length lmao
they last forever and they're fairly cheap
I've been running 2x VPP655 in series since 2013 with no issues
I have the non PWM version so there's a manual speed controller on the body
🤔
I also painted the mounting brace for the pump with plastidip so it's got some mild anti-vibration dampening
https://www.amazon.com/Silverstone-Platinum-Cybenetics-Modular-SST-HA850R-PT/dp/B0BDCKFCW4 so expensive for 850w just for pcie5.0/atx 3.0 😭
it is
that's the whole point of the new connector smh
it handles all of that better
the news was about converters
not the native plug
going from 2x8 -> 12vhpwr or 3x8-> 12vhpwr was not within specs and would risk overcurrent
yes
it's one of the first available ones
that's the point of the new connector, it handles the spikes a lot better so you don't trip it
the connector itself is like 600w and then the extra port is to better control power so that you can run say a 4090 with a lower spec'd psu
i mean a 4090 + 7700x would work pretty well
🤨
if you want a 12100f might as well get the new T parts
why're you looking at a 7700k???
lmao
plus the new intel T parts might be really good for gamers, 35w and supposedly is on par with a 12900k except in multi core
if it actually stays 35w, that'll be the way to go
12900k was never really a gamer cpu anyways lol
highest end is always overkill/enthusiast
Why use VM?
Why not
Double the failure rate

U can suffer wih mw
Legit dumb
They should tho
you hear a whistling noise when you use wall sockets?
that's
concerning
did you buy your house on aliexpress?
If you’re sensitive to the frequency a ton of chargers do it first or third party doesn’t matter
I have never heard a charger whistle
especially if you're using both the main charger and USB port
Probably aren’t sensitive to it
I'll just assume it's because of our stronk british 240v goodness
uh. crackling electronics is 100% not supposed to happen lmao
you are the most cursed hardware person ever
"You will have unlimited money to buy electronics, but everything you purchase will be defective"
the monkey's paw curls
the curse is only one curse
Wow, and I thought servicing a Mac Mini was bad. It's a 40 step process just to clean or replace the case fan on a PS4 lol https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/PlayStation+4+Fan+Replacement/24722
with that much effort you could just take the fucking board out and put a regular fan over the PCB

Ps5 is atleast more user serviceable friendly than ps4
Yeah, the user that mentioned it on Reddit, I told them small consolation but at least on the PS5 the fan is right there after removing the decorative panels.
@deep sapphire car troubleshooting issue you might be able to hep with
huh wait am5 doesn't have PCIE 5.0 support?
yes but depends on chipset because logic
"AMD's requirements only enforce PCIe 5.0 on the X670E boards, which means PCIe 4.0 will be applicable to lower cost motherboards."
so will get it for m2 ssd (well one m2 slot) but pcie 5 for graphics is limited to money pit boards
ugh thats dumb
intel already has pcie 5.0 standard right
why is there give and take BS for next gen
intel is ddr4 + ddr5
support 😠
yeah (gen12) alder lake/Z690 is pci-e 5.0
you'll never saturate 4 so don't worry about it
what i want to know if why the specs even bother with the ability to have 2 gpus on mainstream mobos
amd user jealous of my juicy pcie 5 slot
Gonna have to settle for 7000mbps like a pleb
i have pcie 3
amd user jealous of everyone
just gib me more m2 slots/pcie slots (and bare minimum sata that doesn't conflict with said m2/pcie or itself in terms of ethernet lanes or wifi capability)
amd user with a completely unsaturated pcie 3 bus
I'm quite tempted to get a pixel 6a, can get one for £295 and a free google nest hub and mini thrown in
but the offers keep getting better, maybe there'll be something even cheaper
take em to cex or something
i got the bose headphone pre-order promo on my pixel 6 and sold them to offset the cost a bit, got about 100
Isn't this always basically true? The last new feature that seems novel is the picture in picture mode from Android8
ui changed a bit with 12, 13 doesn't even have that
yeah would be hardcore dependent on good use of available lanes (and resisting the urge to mux pcie 3/sata and call it a day instead of use a controller to free up some lanes for wifi)
same with going for 10gb ethernet on the remaining chipset lanes
I doubt that will happen
probably going to wait for next intel socket (gen 14) and upgrade to that
lol
I mean, they kinda don't
unless you run a server you'll never pin those sustained read/write speeds
^
your average drive usage case is "load game" or if you're really using the drive, "install game"
better iops/random read will do better at game load times
a nice 40 second sustained burst
and then it's back to idling for the next 16 months

[citation needed]
shouldn't be the case

It's like audio cabling/equipment. There's a long tail with exponential price increase
with the same amount of diminishing returns
So 90% as good could be 10% the cost
there's a big difference between $1 and $10, and again from $10 to $100, but not from $100 to $1000
