#Multiple Clue Questions

The idea would be you can only buzz in once, so if you guess early it's a risk. But I don't think you should lose points for getting it wrong, seems a bit mean for this type of question.
Ohh I like this one!
Like the question is "What is the longest London underground line?"
0 clues, as is: 100 points
The 1st clue reveals after 3 seconds [It runs from Epping to Ealing Broadway]: 75 points
The 2nd clue, 3 more seconds [It crosses the Greater London boundary]: 50 points
Something like that?
yeah basically like that. I was thinking more like they would start with no information other than a category, so maybe they just know the answer is a river. And clue 1 would be something like how long it is, clue 2 how many countries it flows through, just gradually more facts about the river like that
I guess it would be up to the quiz maker to decide how many clues there are and the points for each clue
It sounds like a very cool idea, thanks for proposing it. I'll think about how the constructor might look in this case, feel free to share your ideas on that matter as well
maybe something like this, based on the multiple choice interface
hope it's clear what I mean lol
I don't think you could really do clues other than text, not sure
Yeah I think it is clear, thank you for this masterpiece :p
I think there should be a question timer slider with certain restrictions as well, otherwise you can set the question time to be 5 seconds while having 5 clues, which will make the whole thing go way too fast
I think the time could be automatic
like time to read the clue +3 seconds for each one
I got a clip of what inspired me
Ohh I haven't seen this movie :p
What if each time each clue gets revealed, all players have to either guess or pass without any time limit?
I'm also contemplating whether or not we should punish people for getting it incorrectly
yeah I like the idea of everyone guessing or passing
I don't think you should be punished for getting it wrong though, you are already kind of punished by not being able to guess with more clues
Players have expressed their interest in this feature, so it was implemented and shipped with the patch 0.22. Feel free to let me know if you have some additions in mind or if you experience any bugs, we'll quickly get rid of them 🙂
There are a couple of small improvements I can imagine.
- I don't think the explanation makes it clear that you only get 1 guess, some people could be confused the first time they see it
- Players don't know what the points are except for the first clue
- The points displayed on the question selection screen are wrong, they should probably be the points for the first clue but they use the points from when the question was created as a normal question
Could you propose a better wording? The 3rd point you mentioned will be fixed
I don't quite remember what the current wording is, I think it says "players have to make a guess or pass"? It could be something like "make their guess" or "make their only/one guess," and at the end "pass and wait for more clues"
So the current sequence is
- This is a question with revealing clues
- (number) clues to the answer will be gradually revealed
- Each player has to make a guess or pass
- Players won't lose points for giving a wrong answer
- Make your guess or pass!
Maybe can be changed to
- This is a question with revealing clues
- (number) clues to the answer will be gradually revealed
- Each player has to make their only guess or pass
- Players won't lose points for giving a wrong answer
- Make your guess now or pass and wait for more clues!
