The main things are 2 new samplers, some startup optimizations, the option to specify a different sampler and/or prompt for the 2nd pass of Hires fix, integrated token merging (potential speed increase at the expense of some extensions not working if you enable it), and integrated SAG patch (just need to install the extension to use it now. Ha. Not really. But I have found that the biggest issues with inpainting comes from the area being too small, so try inpainting a larger area. Another thing to do is to trick SD into thinking that there's something already there to inpaint with, and that's by popping the image into PS/MSpaint/Gimp/etc. and giving a super simple drawing over your image of what you're wanting--in the color/s you're wanting it. This way it'll already have a general idea of what you want.
Finally, especially for the small inpaints, try inpainting at full resolution by selecting "only masked" to see if that helps. This'll take that section, inpaint at the resolution for the entire image, and then scale it down for that area. It doesn't always work correctly, but it can help with small details.
