possibly not a bug but a setting my end? (please move if needed)
using Linux Fedora with up to date drivers etc.
running using Proton Hotfix as will shut the system down almost immediately without.
have also used Proton 9 with the same results.
can run for an hour or more with no problems or can shut down in minutes.
shut down as in fully powered off the system. need to toggle the psu switch to restart.
amd 9800x3d, nvidia 5090, 64gb ram
i don't believe this is an overheat issue as cpu / gpu are not being taxed (sub 50% utilisation)
can post logs if needed (will need help to find them & post).

Rare display crash condition
Done โข Priority: Medium โข Fix: OLD Early Access โข Resolution: Won't Fix
Player experienced a rare system crash after approximately 40 minutes of playtime where all displays went dark and sound output looped. The crash required a hard PC reboot via power button. A second occurrence happened at 2.2 hours of playtime with similar symptoms but game audio continued normally. The issue appears to be system-specific as it also occurs in other games like Victoria 3. Player attempted fixes including disabling fullscreen optimizations, updating graphics drivers, and switch...
Game freeze/crash when adjusting patch likelihood slider in Shape Asteroids after setting all the non-pure asteroid generations to 0 in the map generation.
To Do โข Priority: Critical โข Fix: None
shapez 2 crashes or freezes severely when adjusting the Extraction Spots likelihood slider in the Shape Asteroids section of the Map Generation settings, sometimes requiring a full PC restart. This occurs after setting all non-pure shape generation values to 0 and Tertiary Colors Pure to 0. The issue may be related to the spiral generation option being enabled. Adjusting the slider should update the Map Generation preview without causing a freeze or crash.

Crash on startup
Done โข Priority: Medium โข Fix: Version 0.0.9 โข Game: 24.2.2 โข Resolution: Won't Fix
shapez 2 crashes on startup with a SIGSEGV error when running natively on Linux, likely triggered by recent OS package updates (such as mesa, mutter, vulkan-loader, or xwayland). The game was previously working but newer package versions broke compatibility. Running under Proton appears to work as a workaround, though sound issues were also reported. The crash occurs in native code before the menu is displayed. This is not something the development team can fix on their end, so using Proton i...

Crash during startup process
Done โข Priority: Medium โข Fix: Future โข Resolution: Won't Fix
The game / shapez 2 crashes during the startup process on Linux using Proton support. The crash occurs right after clicking allow anonymous reporting on first launch. On the second launch attempt after clicking the same option, the game successfully reaches the start menu. The log shows multiple errors including a 32-bit library being incorrectly loaded into a 64-bit process and Chromium embedded browser component issues. The crash prevents the player from accessing the game on first startup,...

The computer just turns off all of a sudden?
Sounds a lot like a power supply problem.
Try limiting the fps to 30? That might use less power and the shutting off might end up less frequent. But if it is a power supply problem I would recommend getting it replaced.
many thanks for the reply.
it's a new build so "should" be ok in terms of psu, however on dropping fps to locked 30, i got over an hour of gameplay with no power outage.
guess i need to look at replacing the "new" psu as soon as funds allow.
thanks ๐
โ Thank you for providing further information, our team will have a look again!
What is the wattage of the PSU?
Also have you got any other games you can use to test it that use a lot of computer resources?
They should also be able to make the computer turn off if the problem is definitely the PSU.
thanks for the reply.
psu is a BeQuiet Dark Power 1600W so should be good enough?
will have a look through my games to see if there is one i can run that would push the system.
on Linux now so number of games is limited.
โ Thank you for providing further information, our team will have a look again!
Yeah that should be plenty.
You can use proton to run the other games you have on steam on linux if they aren't compatible.
Closing this bug report as it's probably hardware related.
But ping me if you have any further information?
I can reopen it if need be.
