Improve Blueprint Placement Performance
Done β’ Priority: Critical β’ Fix: 1.0.0 Release β’ Resolution: Done
Placing large blueprints causes severe FPS drops, tanking to around 10 FPS, especially when fluid machines are involved. The issue occurs with blueprints containing close to 350 machines and is noticeable at minimum graphics settings and above. The root cause is that placement logic performs too many expensive computations simultaneously while moving a blueprint, including shape previews, placement rule checks, and placement map layout updates, generating excessive garbage. The proposed solut...
Extreme performance drop while placing blueprints
Done β’ Priority: High β’ Fix: Dimension Update [0.1.0] β’ Game: 08.21.59 β’ Resolution: Done
Extreme performance drop occurs while placing blueprints. FPS drops from 60 to 11 during placement. The issue was partially related to null configuration from a broken game version. Performance improvements were implemented and verified, with no major drops seen when placing complex blueprints on single platforms. However, the issue still persists when placing very large Make Anything Machine blueprints with gigantic dimensions.
Wire Related blueprints are taking longer to place than 011 when large enough
To Do β’ Priority: Highest β’ Fix: Post 1.0 β’ Game: 0.1.1
Large wire-related blueprints take significantly longer to place in recent builds compared to version 0.1.1. The issue is reproduced by starting a new Classic Mode savegame in the Regular scenario with cheats enabled and placing a supplied 86.2K wire-related blueprint. In version 0.1.1 placement took approximately 4000ms, while later builds show around 8800β9600ms. A beta 2 retest showed minor improvement but placement time remains more than double the original. Expected behavior is that blue...

Building conflicts can cause significant lag
Done β’ Priority: High β’ Fix: 4 - Early Access β’ Game: 0.0.0-alpha23 β’ Resolution: Done
When there are a large number of Structure conflicts, significant lag occurs. The issue is triggered when copying and pasting large amounts of Structures, particularly when copying entire Space Platform contents. The lag happens because the game calculates conflicts between all overlapping Structures, even though a simpler approach of just checking if Structures exist at the same time could be used. The performance issue is noticeable with hundreds of thousands of Structures, and occurs regar...
Pipe related interactions using blueprints severely affects performance after the blueprint refactor
Done β’ Priority: Critical β’ Fix: 1.0.0 Release β’ Resolution: Not A Bug
Pipe-related interactions using blueprints severely affect performance after a blueprint refactor. Holding or moving blueprints containing pipes over a Space Platform causes significant performance degradation, whether the platform is empty or has machines on it. Additionally, moving blueprints without pipes over platforms that already have pipes placed on them also causes poor performance. The expected behavior is that performance should be at least as good as it was before the refactor. Thi...
game becomes unplayable with 5k buildings (placing takes 1 second)
Done β’ Priority: Highest β’ Fix: 4 - Early Access β’ Resolution: Done
shapez 2 becomes unplayable when the player has more than 5000 Structures built in their save. When this threshold is exceeded, Placement of a new Structure takes approximately 1 second to complete, making the game extremely slow and frustrating to play. This performance issue severely impacts late-game gameplay where large factories require thousands of Structures. The root cause is related to how the Simulation handles building calculations, and switching to a Clusters-based system resolves...
maybe
update, it placed
Hey Furvoid! Would you be willing to share the BP you are trying to place? Big BPs with lots of wires usually take time to place, but it should always at least place it

Here. I believe this is a size "issue", since it did eventually place after like half an hour
I didn't check the number but it felt like my fps was lower / had more stutters after placing it despite my 'beefy' pc
it left me over 1.2M buildings, and 550K~ (the mam) wasn't being used yet
I don't remember what tobs said about huge factory performance during early access but either my MAM is atrocious or the game needs more optimization for large factories, because I feel like I was between 60 and 80% done with my save file
tldr / conclusion; late game and blueprint performance need big upgrades
