A one-step difference in zoom makes the difference between a view that confirms that all is working as expected vs. a view that suggests empty pipes and brokenness.

If zooming out one step requires dropping visual detail, it seems like the whole foundation should be fuzzed out or something, rather than showing pipes that are clearly empty when they are not.

(Yes, I could have merged pipes and made an array of mixers for each layer, but where's the fun in that?)

this is to due with graphics settings. pipes need to stop rendering their contents at a certain point, as the game needs to check each pipe to see what's in it and how much. this is pretty far at higher graphics settings, but on lower ones it can be kind of annoying yeah
