#running on an arm mac

i'm trying to run the game on my m1 macbook air

from what i can tell the game is supposed to have an arm build, but if i launch it from steam it insists on launching the intel version instead, and i can't really tell why

if i just run the game's .app file instead of launching from steam, it does runs the arm version, but then closes after a few seconds and restarts as the intel version instead ..

any advice?

Not a mac user, and no idea why steam doesn't launch the native version. But for running without steam you can add --disable-store-sdk as commandline option. Then it shouldn't close and restart through steam anymore.

also apparently i'm not the only person who's dealing with this

@elder eagle how did manage to run it in the end? I've tried adding --disable-store-sdk as launch option in steam as well as cli argument to open open -a shapez 2 --disable-store-sdk
the steam one still launches

Hmmm this works for me and launches the Arm build but then it doesn't see that I've got supporters edition :/

Aha, this is apparently a bigger issue with Steam, this OpenTTD issue on their GitHub has a solution and I've just tried it for Shapez2 and it works! https://github.com/OpenTTD/OpenTTD/issues/10592#issuecomment-1518940429

Hey guys - I'm trying to run this on my m2 air and I launch the game on steam and i get past the intro screens, then into a black screen indefinitely, anyone see this before and have insight?

This worked for me as well, opens the arm version via steam 👌

No worries, and a bonus is that I'm getting even better performance. I'm running with these settings to see how it goes and the metal HUD is showing consistently above 45fps, often up to 70/80. On a lower resolution I was hitting around 55-90

#

When it was running under intel even on medium preset I sometimes hit 60 but frequently dropped as low as 30

#

Should mention this is on an M1 Pro MBP

Pinging @weary junco on this just to surface this as a few people are hitting the Intel launch issue on ARM macs.
