#Belt Filter breaks prediction after it.

you mean like the preview isn't showing?
Maybe you accidentally disconnected some part of the factory
or just predictions doing the thing they do rn and be inconsistent :P
dunno, it finished up just fine by itself, so factory was workin
this one doin it too
reloading the save doesnt fix
in the settings
thought it might be the levels, but thats not it
a setting i would expect all on/off
zooming is a thing on this matter
?
the predictions icons can sometimes disappearing is you are to far zoomed in or out. rendering thing i think how more there is, lesser predictions are showed
Example :
zoom doesnt seem to matter
in or out, certain ones dont show
but others do
and its only on the vortex so far
I have seen it everywhere where there is a lot to see/render
In this case he switching the prediction icons... the 2 dots on it
means maybe he want to render the other one, but switching an be a thing then i do not know....
reloaded the game from scratch, still missing
not a huge deal but def seems to be a bug
Also switching preditions
ya i got that already
Yeah and i think it has to do with that
the bug here is the ones missing completely
Yes : true ; but why : maybe because of the switching prediction icons : thats for the devs ๐
looks like it might be this
soon as the line uses this, prediction stops
belt filter
๐ค
Just to say : you're right
Reproducible bugs, dev's favorites!
hehehe
And because i use a lot of this, i understand now too why the predictions are missing : so Thanks
We currently do not support predictions when they involve wires. And we most likely never will support them properly because, well, you can create MaMs with wires and it would not make sense for the predictions to account for all possibilities.
However, what I am thinking is that in this case (the belt filter) we could just forward the prediction for both outputs disregarding wires altogether. Do you think that this solution would be helpful?
I think it would make the most sense if it showed the prediction of the current setting of the wires
Wires can change all too frequently for that to be reasonable, IMO
I understand that Wire using (MaM related) will stop the predictions, but i think some situations will normally used in the Game without having a MaM, Belt Filters (to trash overflow for example, or filter out wrong shapes to trains) can be a common thing in game so yeah Belt filters should output predictions
Agreed, simple stuff should show. For everything else, at least for clarity, perhaps add a new icon to indicate prediction is disabled.
We could evaluate the wire value at the exact moment of the prediction calculation, but would that be helpful? The predictions are processed asynchronously. What should we do if the wire value changes while we are processing. I can imagine the output being unhelpful and creating confusion
Furthermore, for performance reasons, we only recalculate predictions when some external action causes a change in the game map, which could make you get stuck with a prediction that used an old wire value
Can you re-add prediction later down the line? Assuming once your past the wire stuff, it's once again predictable
Cant you continue the prediction after 3 normal belts ?
You mean based on the current content of it?
yes
It is possible and it is what we are currently doing for the fluids, but not ideal
thats up for your team then : i can not say "i want it, so make it happen*
as i already told i do not check the predictions but for other players....
I think at the very least, an icon to let players know prediction is disabled due to wire use is good.
and if you can get something good worked out later, great
well for a filter, if there is a shape signal applied, then you would know that only that shape could go through
and if a truthy signal is applied, then its "just a regular belt"
in both cases here, it seems decently reasonable to accurately predict
although thats assuming the signal is constant, which is not a given i suppose
Hence ๐
The primary issue is players need to know prediction was turned off. Otherwise you get this bug report here of 'why's it not working' before I figured it out.
Secondary is if we can make prediction work with wires... I suspect options are limited here. My thought is to show up to 4 predictions...
Kinda like the current dots for more than one type
If the wire throws more things out then disable it
make them red and no prediction lol
