Soulframe Preludes 13 arrives! A triquetra of Virtues takes hold, and Alca answers in kind. This Update deepens the systems that shape your Envoy, sharpens combat and movement, expands character customization, and brings clearer intent to the world itself. With a full Virtue overhaul, new threats rising in Midrath, and more deliberate ways to answer the land’s call, Preludes 13 marks a major step forward for Soulframe.

Please Note: This Update introduces major changes to the Virtue system. To support Envoys through these shifts, all existing active accounts will receive a Preludes Honour and 100 Arcs with the launch of Soulframe Preludes 13.

Highlights of this Update include:

• Virtue Rework: Virtues have been fully overhauled with Virtue Prisms, updated scaling, and deeper connections between Virtues, equipment, and Arcanics.
• Votives: Tales are no longer a matter of chance. Votives are now available at World Trees throughout Alca, offering a clearer and more deliberate way to take on challenges. Each Votive is a small offering left behind, waiting for an Envoy to answer.
• New Operation: The Organ: Medis Gyon, plague doctor of the stars, oversees his grand operation from a Collector sickbed drifting overhead. Below him rises The Organ: a massive polluter machine built upon a Dendrit tower. Envoys must find and destroy these machines across Midrath to let Alca breathe again!
• New Foe: Vadagar Bear: Not all bears are bound to Wevetwood. A Vadagar Bear now stalks Midrath beneath moonlit skies. Twisted by night and untethered from the sap-dream of the Arbearer, this corrupted beast is adapted for open-world encounters.
• Expanded Character Customization: Envoys can now refine new hair, complexion, and head features with Verminia in the Nightfold.
• Camera and Player Physics Improvements: Smoother camera motion, improved FOV zoom-out, sharper movement responsiveness, refined lock-on behaviour, and reduced accidental target swapping while blocking.
• New Weapons! Discover Seathorn, a witching-staff fresh from the Salz. Basker’s Wrest, dread gauntlets of the Fire King’s rebels. Clivers, magnetic twinblades of the Dendrit Knightmaidens.
• 3 New Mini-Quests: Discover hidden notes across Midrath to begin Mistress of the Thread, Lightning in a Vial, and Deadwood, and follow their trail to the stories they leave behind.
• **New Armour Set: Waste-wear: **Don the armour of the Wazzard of Wastes. Rise from ichor grave, become the Mendicant mage of Wevetwood.

so its likely its 2 base hybrid and one extreme from each faction. Extreme being a full dump stat

for those without founders it has a higher base value in that virtue than the wyld ones

You cant max out virtue as they dont have limit. Virtue prism distributes your virtue points into one or more virtues depending on what prism you equipped. You can swap prism at any time

The patch note sounded like you're awarded virtue points on level up based on the prism you have equipped at the time. But it turns out the prisms just skew your virtues points while they're equipped.

Yes, basically you have certain amount of virtue points from various sources, one of the being envoy rank that adds 1 per lvl. Then virtue prism distributes those points. So if you have 100 points and you equip extreme courage prism u get 100 courage points, if you equip high but not extreme one then you get 80 courage, 10 grace and 10 spirit etc

Is it just me or did Grace get its teeth kicked in this patch? Having Courage and Spirit benefit all builds with health and cooldown which everyone needs. Things that get deactivated by pact change don't get reactivated when changing back.. like the same set of armour points.. mendicant and other items, went from 35 12 30 to (clicked orengall to lvl it up) 15 6 11 , put garren back on, it remained.. same armour, can't reallocate in armour to re-activate, the courage symbol on mendicant pants dissapeared.... what?

I love the improvet combat, I noticed flying daggers having cool animation now, spear also feels so smooth right now. I love the new sounds. As wierd as it sounds I feel a litle overpowered, because every fight ends up real quick. but at the same time the prisms doesnt give enogh points sometimes I am missing grace with most of the setups, I need 3 stats talisman otherwise i wont reach the cap, Im also not sure about cd redocuion for spirit. The missions I had so far in T3 were 3x dungeon so that was not thrilling, esp when I had to clean one down to every enemie, I think its a new mission actually? I am not sure how I feel about jump., I feel like maybe it should be a little doned down. Otherwvise combat feels really good and you can feel its has been improved. Sounds are amazing too, but the most importatnt I am not getting staggered cause I can block and parry now, so its a total opposite of what we have had. I think the runes were not changed much, I wonder if the are living it for p14 or maybe we will have a hotfix. Anyways looks lik

Yep , to begin with ,the prev tale system is way better imho, tales pops up faster (sometimes it doesnt but the new system makes you wait everytime or run to another tree which spawns lower level tale)...before you can just trigger a high level tale by idling to certain spots in NE

Yess this just makes a lot of sense. Part of me understands why they chose for the world trees (community engagement, reading messages etc.) but it just feels like we're back to Warframe bounty boards now xD

Back when Plains of Eidolon was still new they also had this dynamic bounty system where a bounty would start if you were in the area. It was pretty cool and its a shame they removed that. I was hoping that same spontaneity would be here in Soulframe and the earlier tales system looks more like that.

mendicant king is a random difficulty for me, or was until i got enough damage to bypass the gray bar

he either takes a minute with oscelda by using petrify, or 10 minutes because he decided his only move is to summon more and more knights

i feel that after he summons 3 or so that ability should go into cooldown, and maybe give him more defense while those knights are out fighting

that way you cant just trade with the gray bar and he doesnt summon 6 of them with no other attacks in between

I see. Farming the new staff (Seathorn) and fire sidearm (Basker’s Wrest) are through T3 Tales with rest being ONLY Kith of Kings. So change to Kith of Kings and farm both at once. The Sidearm Dual blades (Clivers) are from Organ as is the Wazzard set. The wazzard gear has incredibly low drop rates, so be prepared for that grind.

I dont agree with that, even if Steelsingers seems to be the best mage set overall, there is no reason to lock an armor set behind cogah as newer players already struggel for a decent armor set using Oscelda.

If anything just put it in the Wazzards pool and make the Clivers be more rare in organ

IMO, Cogah should be reserved for things like more resource gain, higher drop chances, exclusive Runes, and exclusive gear sets/weapons that are only for min maxing, not basic world exploration

You're not going to argue because you have a premise that leads to nowhere. There isn't a single (viable) virtue arrangement you're missing because of the prisms. Unless maybe you want to do a "jack of all trades master of none" type of build, which you can get close enough by adjusting your talisman.

To me it looks like you are essentially saying "I won't be playing this game because I can no longer press the - and + buttons." Which is a bit extreme imho.

The only meaningful difference I would say compared to previous builds is that you don't get as many virtue points as you used to, because they nerfed the points you get from your pact talents. You used to get 10 points in each virtue you put points in, now you get 4. But this is not really related to the virtue prisms.

I'm one of those casual players who come back to the game to test new things every update but without putting hundreds of hours. I love the game but grinding in a unfinished game is not for me. Just in first two hours I noticed how the movement and combat improved. Some people said jump feels off but for me its better now than before. The combat camera feels better too now. Not going through other changes like virtues etc coz I feel I have to put some hours into it to see how it feels for a casual player like me. Questing UI improvements are really appreciated too.

I do like the prism system and think it's an overall improvement. However. having preset values, ie 20/15/15 and not being able to micro-manage them to 20/13/17 makes a virtue requirement on weapons and armor really fucking stupid

So I do get opinions and expierences like Jamps is talking about just wanting to put the points whereever you want. The system really needs some work and I really dislike DE being radiosilent about it

So, I don't have a specific build I want to do. I just like to have as much freedom as possible in a game like this. Min maxing is fun for me and I believe that with the prisms we are more locked out of that.

Most charitable scenario is every Prism currently available should just be given to players, chilling in their inventories. As it stands it gives the perception of just another time gate. 2 hr walking sim for the basics and a time gate for the others locked behind further levels. It's an EA if you want to get these in people's hands and test them out then give them away. Came in after 11, liked 12. This is a hard step backwards when paired with armor requirements and other mechanics.

If youre absolutely stuck on keeping these build locking prisms, then make them able to be leveled and reforged with attribute bonuses for additional build customization. It also gets you the time gate you seem so set on implementing.

As an aside, was I misled when researching this game and hearing they DIDN'T want the same onboarding nightmares from WF? Cuz given how long it took me to level alca to 3, you're now looking at a 20+ hr time sink to unlock basic build diversity. And that's just no lifing tales, no weapon or armor farms or even story missions. Pretty unfriendly to new players if you ask me.

i'm also not a huge fan of fixed-virtues. getting a new point to spend as i levelled felt like "growth" which is in keeping with the game's theming.
fixed-virtues like this feels like it's only going to make meta/minmax more rigid & encourage a mentality of "wrong" ways to build/play, which doesn't feel great for encouraging multiplayer.

Comparatively its more diverse than P12, In P12 the only thing viable Was Mock or Arb/Rani armor with every weapon attuned to courage. Now Ive been using different armor sets to ones that go good with my virtue layout/Weapon virtues. I also still havent found any issues of using different attuned weapons other than "Rigid Class options" I sometimes do full Spirit tethern and still do relatively the same numbers if not more than in P12

They all work, the entire game is very doable with any weapon, armour, pact, or stat spread. I get the frustration, there’s things that used to be available to you that you now have to unlock. Aren’t you grinding faction rep anyway? There’s weapons and armour behind the same rep requirements you’re complaining about.

In my opinion, that is not even the problem. The problem is that prisms split your total virtue points to an exact number, ie: 9 spirit. Which you can only increase by a finite number of sources. Talismans and pact skilltree. This is counter intuitive to attunement sits on a specific amount

IIRC correctly leveling up your MR gives additional virtue points to be split with a prism, which imo is not a great system

Sadly patch verification requirement on consoles make it very bad for game development. Once they are further into development and dont need such frequent patches i am sure they will release it. Since u have low end laptop might as well try it, it will prob have cross play and cross progression.

There are two things I would definitely change.

1. Collectible items - Each item should have its own icon in the inventory, rather than just changing color. It's hard to tell the difference and not feel like collecting things isn't as effective and useful as in some online games.

2. Completing quests/progressing in the "story" - Currently, completing quests creates a sense of chaos, a lack of order, a lack of any real sense of change in the world, and every activity is purely random and unintentional, with no sense of mission.

I understand that the "story" is about saving nature and the world from being poisoned, but this lack of a sense of mission creates a void in the entire game. Warframe already had a sense of "go there, do this," etc.

Why Wyld Prism are less powerfull than a Shadow Prism?

Since it seems that unsatisfied part of the community is very vocal, I decided to step out of my "silent and happy to be able to play" comfort zone and give some positive feedback.

• I like that you have to make choices that matter. Getting to try out 3 starting Pacts and then choosing one to stick with.
• I like that there is an option to expand arsenal and eventually have access to everything AND I really like that you can achieve it by playing the game.
• I like the prism system. It's new, fresh and I haven't seen this approach to character stats in any other RPG before AND i like that you have to play the game to gain access to more prisms.
• I also like that weapons scale from two or even three attributes (virtues) and that they have one virtue minimum prerequisity. It seems to be a good balancing idea and makes sense archetypically, while still allowing for variety of build options and also making all existing weapons relevant for some build instead of just something to level up for arts and throw away.

TLDR:
I like that choices matter and we get to expand our arsenal by earning it via playing the game. Stuff doesn't need to be handed out for free I like it to be earned.

See, I don't feel entitled to get everything for free just for showing up. Sometimes even the basic stuff needs to be obtained somehow. Deserved by putting in some time and effort. In a game you make choices that matter and you need to stick to them for a while, but have options to expand your options by putting in time and effort and achieve them by playing the game.

i like a lot of this game, and many of the decisions so far, but the prisms feel like a step backward and out of sync with the game's themes. getting a new point to invest when i levelled up felt like "growth," and i liked the "wyld" and slightly chaotic ability to change my build point by point. while the prisms feel confining and stagnant.

I think the best solution would be to put all the prism in the rank 2 of the factions (you can reach it the first day of doing faction quest), and maybe in rank 4 of all the factions to sell a special prism that allow you to put points like before that will help the people that want to min max while still helping new players to get some builds working.

Most of the changes are good but one thing that is really bad in my opinion is the downgrade of the virtue points in each pact, changing from the 10 points of virtue for 10 points we spend on the tree to just 4, it hurt a lot not to mention that it is hard to work (mostly to new players without many virtue points) because weapons and gear ask for a minimum amount of X virtue, we could fix that with the pact tree, now it rarely help at all. I hope is just a bug and you can fix it, but if is intended, i don't even think the people in charge of that change are in touch with the community and with the game itself.

Courage is now a required Virtue to unlock scaling on Greatwords, Longblades, Polarams, and Shield type weapons. Grace is required to unlock scaling on Short Blade, Flyblade, and Bow weapons. Spirit is required to unlock scaling on Magick weapons.

Courage increases the effectiveness of your 1 ability, Spirit your 2 ability, and Grace your 3 ability.

Courage increases your life the most with each point, Grace the middle, and Spirit the least.

Courage has the armour with the most defense, Grace the second most, and Spirit the least.

Each point of Spirit now decreases the cooldown on all abilities more.

Each point of Grace increases your stealth and finisher damage more. Additionally, weapons with Grace scaling get more damage per point of Grace than Courage or Spirit scaling weapons do with their virtues.

It's not locked to classes, You get 4 Virtue points from pact skill tree, All+3, 4/1/1 or a +6 Talisman. The rest of the virtue is locked behind prism's which are itemized stat ratios.

i was a vocal critic of the new systems at first but after playing, i do feel that they open up the game a lot more and it, in general, feels far more satisfying to theorycraft builds with the changes.

WITH THAT SAID, i have a few major critiques.

• please ADD MORE SHIELDS!!! They’re cool and fun and i love them. if they won’t do more damage, give them an innate bonus to party window or have them add to armor values by default.

-please give great swords some love. there’s no reason the shouldn’t be hitting like a truck with the swing time being as slow as they are. they leave you open to attacks and should, BY DEFAULT, be damaging enough to warrant their use.

that is all, for now

honorable mention is buffing spirit builds including the magic weapons as a whole. They don’t feel very magical at the moment. i’d like to see some actual spells coming out of a staff like fireballs igniting people, ice rooting people in place etc.
