Soulframe Preludes 12: Thawtide

As the Longnight approaches, all of Dendria anticipates the coming thaw. The ritual feeding of the Cardinals ensures longer days ahead, for it is these red birds' song that will wake the resting suns from their longest slumber.

But the Ode have caught wind of this solstice tradition. The air blares with the sound of Squawkers: Ode'n machines designed to lure and capture Lord and Lady Cardinal. Will you free them and perform the old rite?

It is up to you, Envoy, to free these Cardinals and wake the sun!

🐦 How to Play Thawtide:

• Find Squawkers placed around Midrath, guarded by Thawtide Hunters disguised in Dendrit garb, set upon capturing the Thawtide Cardinals.
• Defeat the Hunters and break their Squawkers. Destroying these will give you the Fragments to build your own Seeder with Tuvalkane.
• With every Thawtide Hunter defeated, their levels will increase across Midrath.
• Return to where you destroyed the Squawker and plant your own Seeder to allow the Cardinals to partake! Be wary, as you’ll have to defeat enclosing Sinecure foes.
• Thawtide will run until January 30th 2026 at 2 p.m. ET.

Updated Glades of Andurin "endless" area:

Now capped at 20 waves.
Mockeries now spawn matching the dungeon’s current level. Each wave increases their level by 2, to a max of 60.
Armoured Mockeries will roam the arena every 5 waves, intent on your slaughter.
Reduced the time between waves.
Improved the direction at which Mockeries spawn in relation to the Envoy.

I really regret not doing endless more now, I really didn't expect them to remove the way to level a weapon in less than a day

I have never once managed to find an endless room myself in the glades cuz it spawns so rarely, and I constantly see recruiting in game filled with "lf endless"
20 waves is short enough that it sounds likely that levelling is going to get, extremely sloggy

I can’t help but wonder what the point of this kind of armor bypass is. It’s just 40 more damage on enemies that have 40 or more armor, and no extra damage on unarmored enemies (mockaries).

Why not just say 40 more damage?

As a whole the current armor system kinda sucks for faster hitting weapon types and attacks, so maybe if the armor system is changed something like this will make more sense.

thank you for this. I've been playing for 2 weeks, did the garren and orengall quests, explored the whole map and only after this update actually found verminia. I also guess i had a bug before because i had found the rat and it guided me to her place but i couldnt sing to the statue to open the cave. After installing the update it finally showed up.

You only need to make enough Seeders to get each Cardinal skin. Everything else in the event comes from killing the Hunters and breaking the Squawkers.

If you find yourself running out before you have both skins, Dermak and Fort Curlail are both good sources of scrap iron

Ode dogs are acting way different. They seem to crouch out of range and wait to lunge at or through you. Some of their lunges seem to be momentary grapples that cancel a swing. More realistic than old behavior. Seem to haven an issue with keeping their head turned to the Envoy they are targeting. Sometimes they are less realistic as they are just facing in odd direction after having hoped away from a swing.

The Squakers audio queue is a more enjoyable method of locating the interaction than looking for a specific bit of purple in the sea of green purple(and red and yellow). A reason to remove the squaker's defenders and replacing the vile thing with a bird feeder feels like moving in the right direction.

It seems like maybe it is a rune designed for those situations where the only solution to defeating armoured enemies is to use heavy attacks?

The same person can probably easily defeat regular enemies with light attacks, and the bonus damage would just be overkill when combined with the charge speed and reach.

i think cogah is intended to drop potions, its 1 potion after all, a little guaranteed help does not decrease difficulty but increase QoL, as the current healing options are potions, torment(bugged), Ocilida(the best), heal on smite perk. also the Nightfold healing tech.

I have noticed that the Pacts don't seem to come with requirements. We could just be using this word this way, which happens around here. To me a 'pact' with another entity entails some ongoing exchange of [power/service/action/resource]. More often than not, whatever benefit you receive comes with behavioral restrictions and other regular returns or affirmations of ones agreement with the [source].

Here instead we have what is more akin to 'favor' in so much as we have done some good deed or other for a powerful entity of the area which bestows upon us power and ability we could not generate on our own. We do not yet seem to have any strings tied for the seemingly limitless use of these powers.

"Because they want you to use it to go kill Ode/Sinicure." is true, but not relevant to the distinction I'm pointing at.
