Incredible work, love the two usage of the pattern on the hovered/active statues, it's such a pleasure on the eye and oozes character, if this is where it starts can't wait for the future!

They're Wording Motes, they're little spirits that hang around, related to the lost histories of the world. Also a cheeky reference to Soot Sprites from the work of Studio Ghibli 😛
