I personally don't enjoy tutorials, I just want to play the game, and this tutorial didn't feel too useful. I feel part of the allure of the game is discover how to survive, but the tutorial tells some basic stuff but is mostly walking.
I can see some people wanting to do the tutorial, I personally don't see much use in it though and was annoyed I couldn't just play the game. It also takes too long to start but now that I think of that it's just load times
Oh and the Steam page claims there is no hand holding but I feel a tutorial slightly ruins that. Although that's just nitpicking
I know there's a lot more to discover

Thanks for the suggestion. This was a topic amongst ourselves as well and we do have some ideas about this, but it's something we'll probably address with full release
