random ideas:

  1. rip your sleeves off in case of emergency, this gives you fabric which could be used as a fire starter when you cant find any. fabric can also be used with a stick, to make a binde . the bindle would be like a mini satchel that you can store the fire starting stuff in, if you decide to go out and gather some of those

  2. end w knife

  3. when the darkness is about to claim you, you can poke your eyes for the darkness to forgive you, and it will give you some dark spots in your vision for the rest of this life. but you will no longer die directly from darkness during this life

  4. unlockable traits to start with. for example, after you sacrified your vision youd unlock the ability to start the game with the trait blinded. another trait could be ninja, you can lie in the bushes at night and be completely safe as long as you stay quiet and are looking directly at a fire.
    you unlock ninja by outrunning a enemy

  5. new item: hook arm. found near spawn as debris, but is very rare. you can take the hook arm and place it in the sand around the fire. and you can pour saltwater from a coconut shell into it. then you boil for drinking water that you can pour into a glass bottle or drink. and also if this isnt a feature: you can pour coconut water into a glass bottle, but it would go bad and rot so thats why you want to boil water

  6. lose hand during battle with a dog or lizard, like they lunge at you and you shield yourself with the hand, youd have a chance to lose that hand and you could replace it with a hook arm that can only carry sticks or fabrics or other stuff that a hook arm can do. also a trait that you could spawn with, the good thing about this hook arm is that it could work as a built in knife, but with limitations.

  7. climbing palm trees for coconuts, high risk high reward, you cant climb if you have a hook arm. you die if you fall down from the top. strong winds will sway the tree and you will fall down, it is also very slippery during rain.

  1. placing rocks under the fire for long periods of time makes them blow up (it does this in real life) and damages anyone nearby slightly, it scares away the bats if they are near, but it will ruin the fire.

  2. using shattered clams as a one time use knife for getting meat, or a one time use stab

  3. throwing the gunpowder package in fire goes boom

  4. probably too much, but maybe a event where theres a pirate ship, the first time you encounter it you will be happy and want them to notice you, but then they just shoot a cannon at you. the next time you encounter it you will want to hide, you will want to turn out your fires
    if this is too much work for such a little thing, maybe add a rowboat scout who goes along the shores, and a veery far away ship so it can just be a png
    if the ship spawns during night it has a chance to catch fire and sink because of the bats causing chaos in it

  5. on the smaller islands, you wont be attacked by lizards or dogs, only bats and octopus tentacles that try to grab you into the water to DIE

  6. dry a gun by holding it above a fire. hopefully you dont have any gunpowder left in there

  7. putting the knife in your mouth for storage, you will automatically drop it if you start running

  8. disable it becoming nighttime during the overlord fight

  9. thieving dogs. dogs can steal torches and other stuff they can bite onto

  10. destructive boars, they can charge fences and rip it up
