Hi there! Im experiencing a glitch which is preventing me from playing, so I wondered if anyone could help?

Basically my medallion has disappeared from my tool wheel, I can't even re-link it with the D-Pad, it's been replaced with a big X. From what I can see this is a known glitch? Is there anyway to fix it? I'd hate to lose all my progress. The game also auto saved so I can’t retrieve a save before it happened.
Any help would be much appreciated! ☺️
