Would be cool if after we gave a spirit to the villagers, they created a spirit team and were open to having a battle with us once per day. reward could be a random furniture, dosh, a concoction, etc. point being, I'd like to duke it out with Zed's bot and Cleo's Wolf.

What kind of teams do you think the npcs would have? Aside from maybe sticking with the same typing their gift spirit was?

Maybe they would be join by two others NPC at random? Like battling Ferra ||beardini|| and she get help by Cleo and Rowan
Or alternativly they could have other spirit quest so you have to fill their team yourself
