It's just the way the math works out, there's break points. If you can't hit 50% you want to hit 34%. After 50 it's 63 or something, after that it's 75%. The inbetween numbers don't matter just which breakpoint you hit
50% is easy to get and there's no reason not to hit it. 60 and above starts requiring the 15% cards

The white sparks are decent. For me the perfect white sparks on a parent are one, at most two, for very good skills, but I don't think that's the meta, people want you to have a lot of white sparks for no reason that looks benefitial to me.

bourbon's Whole Thing is that she is pushed into being a sprinter because she's good at sprints (at least per her storyline, ignore aptitudes for a second), but wants to run triple crown. thats how her trainer wins her over, by agreeing to putting her into heavy training for increasing stamina (something you get criticized for from media at one point).
now consider the gift being batteries, a thing which supplements extra energy ie stamina, from bakushin o who also wants to run longer tracks but unlike bourbon a) has even higher physical limitations than bourby and b) doesn't have a trainer willing to support that dream (at least not until the very end of 3rd year)
i know its all mihorice and mihorice is cute but ill always be a little sick about bourbaku parallels. even the dang real horses, where bourbon was predicted to be good at short distance and bakushins pedigree forecasted long distances, and yet.....
