my impression was that because the target wit is fairly low, and the consequences for too little wit can be severe boxing, what you really want is meta progression that allows wit to naturally hit that threshhold, so you can instead spend that time training the stats that benefit from being way higher

Also the 300 range is the minimum recommended but it is only a 70% or so to trigger your abilities, more wit is simply better
And considering a rainbow Wit means you recover double the energy while also getting more SPD and SP, one wit card in all decks becomes optimal so your wit naturally ends up in the 500 range or so anyway
The global reference document says Power is for acceleration and lane changing, or lateral movement. If this is true, then getting boxed in by the jobbers is a death sentence, especially on the inside line; you won't be able to move away from the inside rail if there's a horse to your left, and the horse in the front will obviously cut your speed. Unless there's a soft pushing mechanic in the game I haven't heard of yet, "jobber boxes" are hard rng you can't really avoid once they hit you.
The best way to avoid this is to be preemptive and have navigation boosting effects. Skills like "The Bigger Picture" help widen view radius for navigation, and "Go With The Flow" give bonus lateral movement speed.
At the end of the day there's no pushing through, no matter how much power you have your horse is not going force it's way like someone throwing elbows at a concert to get to the front row.
