And I don't have a jigsaw apworld for Emerassi's Jigsaw. I just grabbed the newest stable release (0.7.2) and that didn't work. Further investigation revealed they had a big overhaul changing all options. I grabbed 0.6.6 and that worked.

Anyone else nervous af they are at fault
so, item/location mismatch is always an issue, at the very least it's objectively a bug in the world because this is part of the contract between AP core and world
unfortunately since this is never supposed to come up I'm not at all familiar with the consequences of violating it in an actual multiworld; I have no idea if this is serious or not
and since I don't play OoT I have no idea if it's related to your options at all

given the stack this also looks like a bug with Tunic itself
if you can minimize that further it's worth reporting to them
but I know this did not happen when I tested my two yamls locally

huh, that's an extra item instead of an extra location, the opposite of the earlier OoT bug
Tell you what, this moment makes me thankful I opted for a four-core eight-thread CPU instead of a four-core four-thread one
wish I could help more but I think we're at the part where there's just a lot of trial and error to do to narrow these down to minimal, reportable test cases

from reading the code, I'm pretty sure this never happened before because I've never played with breakable_shuffle or grass_randomizer before; both of those options force local_fill to be defaulted to a non-zero value which triggers the prefill codepath that's failing for us
I'll try removing OoT and then removing Tunic

I've done several generations with my 2 yamls (that should be the minimum to make Tunic's stage_pre_fill impl do anything at all) and haven't gotten a single error
so now I'm wondering if the Tunic "bug" is provoked by one of the other bugs
I guess I gotta figure that out too

we know the Tunic devs are active and the crash is pretty clearly coming from Tunic's code, so there's a good chance FF4E did nothing wrong

Getting rid of all installed apworlds should be a step on its own, not bundled with create a desktop shortcut
well, "installed apworlds" should be in /custom_worlds at this point
It does cause a lot of issues, and they're right to make it pre-checked
they're moving to kivyMD, so technically kivy itself is still the framework being used, but it is still a big overhaul to the UI for the core tools
(if you use Universal Tracker, it has a separate "MD" build atm for this reason)

The categories and favoriting are not a big deal for me because previously I could see all the options I wanted to click at without scrolling or clicking

the immediate question is whether you have any logic rules that are random or depend on slot data, without having specifically written UT support code to deal with that
So here's how passes work: A pass is an archipelago meta-item you receive that allows you to interact with enemies, NPCs and chests, but doesn't stop you from moving about in the map and platforming
Unrelated:
I have checks to get in east sara sara beach, but they're too high to get to, so I'll need to do this skip
Jump on the lamp, then jump on the fence, then on the wall, then on the cliffs.
This makes it possible to reach the checks below.
you know if i keep learning skips like these i'll start thinking of lights and lamps as platforms and not light sources
If you have a fish, you can also jump the gap east of me and switch to fish in the middle to make the jump

This is where we make the rule for each region
and then this is where we take a rule from being 'on a region' and apply it to every exit that leads to that region
a little wrapper around the default add_exits
to be clear, UT mostly just calls the usual AP APIs, there's no such thing as "so weird UT can't understand it" unless it's already "so weird AP can't understand it" (i.e. it doesn't work at all)
that first screenshot tells me that the rules do depend on player options, which is why trackers (both UT and poptracker packs) often have to fetch slot_data to produce the correct output
and a common part of UT support is tweaking apworld code to basically ask UT for the slot_data if you're being run inside of UT, since apworlds normally only generate the slot_data

for a more complete answer, #1367996449270530080 message has world devs summarizing/linking/documenting their own UT support, which is super useful since everyone seems to hit a different subset of features/complications, but my Outer Wilds post in that thread covers what is IMO the simplest and most straightforward way to just make UT work and keep working no matter what you do with your logic in the future

Nine Sols can be brutal but it's worth it
there is a lot of dodging in 9S but you definitely need to learn parrying as well
I recommend playing your first run in story mode, and reducing the amount of damage you take so you have more time to experiment

One thing I struggled with was not knowing what each location contained unless I was online.

I clicked return to menu after getting this check
Then I quit the game and started it back again
When I did, the save placed me in a state where I haven't collected the check, but the archipelago part of the save recognized that I did and automatically sent it
This is an avenue for desyncs I did not expect
I can only assume you must've quit to menu at a very specific time in the chest opening sequence
I opened the chest and collected the check and immediately quit
the way 9S is built, it has a lot more variables saved to the save file than it really needs, so I would not be surprised if quitting halfway through a chest opening got the chest stuck in what is otherwise an impossible state (albeit harmlessly)
When I returned, the item was on the ground but the check was already sent
aaaah, ok that probably means the base game didn't write to the save file
(I do not attempt to poke the game to write saves more often than it's used to, since I have my own save files for rando state)

It's perfectly possible to reach this state in the vanilla game without quitting to menu. Just pick up the item, and don't do anything that would autosave

I figure the teleport screen is different from the map screen for a good reason but is it possible to show one of the following:
1- how many checks I can get in a region in the teleport screen
2- whether I can warp to a region in the map screen
That way I don't have to switch and keep a name in mind
the short answer is in the base game teleporting is limited enough to make the separate menu a good idea, and in a modded context trying to combine them somehow would be a lot of work and risk
but those are good points and I may be able to do something with them
we already have a lot of thoughts on turning the map into an in-game tracker someday

best i can tell this is caused specifically by managing to open the world map after you send a check but before the server responds and confirmed that you sent the check, so if you wait a second it should avoid the issue (until next patch, maybe that'll be monday?)
