Turns out you need to drop a bomb, turn into goron, curl up, jump, cancel the jump just in time for the bomb to hit you and knock you forward

the only exception I can think of is if a story bit had lots of tiny branches, then I usually try to do a branch I haven't done before when I get there in rando, though of course that doesn't come up very often in the kinds of games that randomize well

but i did beat the boss, and get every post-winter check in the area

for me it's often a check that was fun the first time but is just too much work for only one item in a rando context

though sometimes there's also an option that redeems it by adding more checks (like in A Hat in Time, the Ship Shape act is way too much effort for one check unless you turn on tasksanity so all 18 of the errands become additional checks)

The problem with adding checks is that it often requires you to add junk items too, so I only like adding extra checks when I can remove a number of checks to make it even
