I didn't forget. I think this one was far more brutal than that for one reason alone: this curbstomp was carried out by someone far weaker than the Overlord. The Overlord is a beast of a villain who has immense power, but he couldn't stop Zane.
This one Nindroid utterly trashed Zane in his prime, broke him again and again, destroyed his bike, tossed him down a canyon, and then left him for dead with naught but a scratch and with a shrug of contempt.
Brutal.

She's okay, I suppose. Not really much to say of her so far. She's a princess who needs protecting, although for what reason I'm not sure yet. They haven't really discussed why they're after her specifically.
I'm sure she's got lots of secrets to hide though. They seem to be setting up for that.
As for the love interest aspect, I don't mind it. It's not getting in the way of anything, it's character development for Lloyd, and it's done with a lot more realism than the early romance of the original seasons.
Speaking of secrets, Cole just discovered something on the baby's blanket.

Welp, just finished episode 9 of S8. That was probably the most serious episode in Ninjago history. Barely any comedy. Most of it was pure emotion and plot, and the final third was the second most brutal curbstomp in the show so far.
10/10 episode. Now for the season finale.
This guy is one brave soul...
Laughably outmatched, woefully outnumbered, utterly terrified, and trembling in fear, yet he stands there holding his sword and proclaiming that he and the village will never kneel.
Of course, once Garmadon shows how easily he can wipe out the entire village in the blink of an eye, he kneels, but you can tell that it pains him to do so.

I'm starting S11. Gonna knock it by one point right at the start though for having shorter run-times for its episodes. I understand why it was done, but it can really hamper storytelling when you do. It's the same complaint I have against Amphibia and TYT, even though I love both of those shows.
That being said, I adore the improved and much more dynamic animation, the smoothed-out facial expressions, and the more realistic details on the Ninja's outfits (such as scratches, stains, dents, texture, etc.).

Most skeletons are gone, yes. Nindroids, no, there's still a bunch of them around but they're good guys now. Cultists are in prison. Ghosts are dead, yeah. The pirates though are still around, just trapped in different realms because they were never summoned back to Ninjago by the Djinn (which is kinda sad actually, because Flintlock and the big girl (forgot her name) were actually getting close).

Normally I'd leave my thoughts until the end of the season, but since have completed the Fire Chapter, I'll give my thoughts on that one first, then the Ice Chapter, and then the season as a whole.
So, the Fire Chapter...it was good! Not very plot-heavy, but I'm sure that now the Ninja are in the Never-Realm, that'll change quickly. It also had some of the funniest jokes and visual gags I've seen in the show. Only thing I really have against it is that Aspheera is a very weak villain. Not as weak as Chen, but still.
Speaking of plot, we've got some narration. Apparently the Never-Realm isn't uninhabited.
