one of the slutty outfits
yes
Tauro: ''Hmmmm you're gonna need to go talk to Rotver at Hateno to find the other chests, I dunno what this riddle could possibly mean!''
chump
I don't need no radar
hitting that sparkle on
same
noice 4 sages will
holy shit lmao I was fighting one of the zonnan guard robot thingies and a fucking ray of lightning struck both of us because we were both standing under a tree
now how do I get in there
this place is pretty
so, were you around when I talked about visiting these islands without doing the quest to dispel the storm first?
really now?
interesting
weird thing on a pedestal
let's touch it
this is just the shrine crystal thing
dw, it's quite a bit more than that
ooh we're going into the depths now
oh shit ryujinx crashed
not good
Oh I gotta build a mecha for Mineru now
this quest is gonna take a second....
Interesting choice of new body
and now we can stop worrying about spoiling this bit
move the thing across the thing
there's ||small wheels around somewhere||
:(
:(
i loooove Mineru
mission passed
respect +
Alrighty
Well this is the endgame now, all that's left is to find Ganondorf
did you go to her temple too?
yeah that screenshot is at the temple
oh it's THAT room, wow I mistook this for the depo where you meet her
Ultrahand creations can be simple and useful. Here are some simple vehicles to try out in The Legend of #Zelda: #TearsOfTheKingdom.

at least one TotK speedrunner labels the final split "Hand Holding"
i just thought it was neat that Nintendo officially acknowledged hoverbikes
oh yeah, I was wondering about that
Policenauts music
nice
Finished my first Majoras Mask randomizer today. Very fun stuff
Wind Waker next I think
Yooo I've been wanting to do an MM rando run since I saw Spikevegeta's run at sgdq
The category he did looked really fun
And I like all the custom music
it was really fun
I need to do it again some time. I found all the transformation masks really fast, would like to do one where I'm a bit more limited
does Link actually even technically kill any monsters in BotW/TotK? or does he just defeat them? cause they get revived or brought back by Blood Moons so would they be dead or no
The enemies that are taken out and then Link subsequently neutralizes the blood moon by defeating Ganondorf are killed by virtue of never being revived again.
actually, technically, the monsters are all undead so link is really just re-deading them
zelda its july
Ganondorf himself also seems to be dead
at least the whole point is to make him as dead as possible
She's the Princess/Queen she decides what month it is
Alright, plan for this evening's TOTK session, focus on finishing some side quests and collect more of those old map chests that I'm probably gonna look up a map for because fuck it once I'm done with these I may just get all the remaining shrines and just finish the game
I need to get the OOT and TP armor sets
it's the ultimate swag
the stones and the abilities don't line up with the colors correctlyyyyy aaaaaaaaaaaaaa
ah better restart your file and get fuse first
Goron/Zora tunic Link would be dope to have
Magic armor from TP 🙀
the insane resemblance of this area with Lost Izalith jesus christ
I feel like I'm back in DS1
there's a distinct lack of huge lava caverns in video games
lots of lava, lots of huge caverns, but hardly ever both
5 minutes into Wind Waker randomizer, good start
ye ive watched some here and there for a while and finally trying myself. Done 2x OoT and one MM before this one
nice
ah yes the secret fourth timeline where Link speedruns getting the triforce and kills Ganondorf in 10 min after starting the adventure
occasionally I wonder what a game would be like if it was designed around being randomized from the very start, and then I quickly realize I've reinvented roguelites
well yes and no

rougelites arent quite the same as a LoZ randomzer
Ocarina of Time almost feels that way with how many things are locked behind things you're meant to have by that point in the vanilla game, so why are the locks there? Well works out great for the rando
Like theres this random chest in GANONS CASTLE that wants you to play the first song Zeldas Lullaby
but then you cant really design a game that way
it works for LoZ because theres already this set worlds with puzzles and locks designed for certain keys, and you know how the world is supposed to be "run"
I think we're mostly agreeing
the biggest differences between a randomizer mod and a roguelite game, at least in the cases I'm familiar with, are how much the randomizer mods expect you to have already beaten the game at least once and be intimately familiar with every item being randomized
to be fair OOT asks you to do songs a bunch of times almost all the time too
ye it works so well
also it feels different to randomize windwaker, compared to some random indi developers world
you could do something similar mind, design a game to be played fully the "correct" way then a couple months after release update it with a randomiser
that could be a fun game
also huh this is one of the chests down here too (Trousers of the Wild)
Since it's not a DLC set I thought that this set would be found in the surface after a quest or something
nope, its just... lying around
I haven't been spoiling anything I've done unless it's main story important stuff because I think I'm the only one here that hasn't finished this game yet
With how the game is designed and how many different options you have for settings with open door of time/ganons castle, keysanity, skullsanity.. OoT kinda feels unbeatable in the randomizer field for me
WHERE ARE THESE I CANT FIND THEM
theres only 5 of the DLC armours pieces that require any significant effort to acquire to my memory
in the wild, duh

i can give you a hint
or outright tell you where they are
yes
I was going to tell you but the X spot disappeared from the map
outright
but it's on the north of the goron temple

to the east of the shrine that is directly north of the goro ntemple
inside some big ass bones
around this area ish
hint: ||take a look at where nire is standing. does that look like anything familiar on the surface? theres something similar in the depths||
outright spoier: ||the giant skeletons on the surface have a depths counterpart. they're there.||
||basically the whole of hyrule is mirrored||
NOOOOOOOO

my bike...
I fucking bumped my nose against the tip of a cliff I was flying up to and I dropped it damn it
hmmmm...
I guess I got ahead of this quest
might as well check this out

uhh
oh pff I had already come here before
I forgot
oh brother, 1:48hrs of progress and it was only this corner of the map

this mine is a great spot for zonaite farming holy shit it's absolutely loaded with zonaite
WOOHOO
I know we talked about it before but i agree that TP Link's tunic smelling like dog is the best
KING Gleeok
great

aaaahhh no wayyyyy
I ran out of arrows and I already had it to 1/4 of its hp
man
Oh god I came back for a round 2 with more arrows, I hit all three of its eyes and then dove down so I can hit him quickly but didn't look down and faceplanted into the ground
oh, our hero...
ez

that was fun
yo, real
🎊
byotiful
the gleeok was easier than I thought, I kept using rockets on my shield to get up in the air and shoot its eyes and just whack it to death
I finally have my favourite outfit
Dang, nice work
that was god awful
I'm still basiclaly blind down there
Goddamn that's a lot of trees
First time I've seen that whole map
That's brutal, what the hell Nintendo
It only took me 7:30 hrs straight
it's absolutely insane that Nintendo thought the lightroots would be a good idea at all
It was absolutely hellish getting these, the surface map already feels a little empty sometimes and the shrines already felt like a chore, this time you had to do all of that twice and the depths are even emptier than the surface
so much flying around.... 7 hours of flying around the depths
but it's finally done... now I can get the remaining shrines I didn't get, gear up for the finale
I think you're overreacting a tad. The light roots weren't that bad
Intact in some ways I'm glad they're there, as it made surface shrine hunting a lot easier
Grab a hoverbike and go ham
maybe they are bad if you decide to get all of them in a 7:30 hour sitting
Yeah, I spread them out a lot more, usually did a chunk of them alongside some other quest that sent me down there

something I realized about Rauru the other day is that he's probably a lot younger than Mineru
You don't say, Purah
💖 11
lulz were had
''You don't really look quite like yourself Linky''
Link, in full lingerie ''armor'': What makes you say that
stolen from facebook
it's really kind of annoying how few things like this exist in tears tbh. Like this is the only place that really has rails
yeah i would have loved to have seen the ability to place perminant rails aroun the world or have an NPC that lets you build pre set rail lines
the rail cart building option woudl have been soo much more useful then
would've loved some early trains/railroads along hyrule
get that Spirit Tracks vibe going
yeah for sure
"oh are we going railroading, Link?"
"sorry Zelda, there's only room for two on this kickass train"
<Link rides off into the sunset with his son, Tulin>
i would have trained in more places instead of flying if i could build a nice high speed train option over the map
said it before say it again Tulin was sooo cute
tbh it's really unfortunate there's not a heavier focus on 'building/rebuilding' in tears
yeah, all the previews i did think it would have a much bigger focus
It's one of the things that led me to say so many times that TOTK feels overall pretty disconnected from BOTW
and now that I think about it it does seem weird that with so much focus and emphasis on gluing and constructing stuff together that there aren't more major quests around literally gluing parts of the kingdom back together
it's all just kind of BOTW again where each region is suffering from something and you gotta help out but not really following up on rebuilding from the disaster of BOTW
||its been my thought that your not actually rebuilding from BOTW and i think most of BOTW and the previous 1000 years never happened in this timeline as zelda fucked the timeline changing the need for most of the tech like the guadians and such. and since they didnt need them tech is not as far as it could have been. Its how i treat it in my head for the differences yet similarities ||
I honestly consider BOTW and TOTK as separate games even if I realize how crazy that sounds
I just honestly feel that way after hundreds of hours in both games
separate as in, not in the same continuity
a time branch. zelda games are pretty good at that
the department of temporal investigations has a huge file on Zelda and Link, second only to Janeway!
LOL
The temporal agents yelling about how could all these different timelines be created meanwhile OOT Zelda in the corner like
the weird thing is it's not even hard to explain the differences between games, since the map is so obviously BotW's with edits
but... they didn't

gimme gimme gimme
alright it's about time to start getting ready to finish this thing, been little over two months now
let's grind some shrines
of course there was a korok encased in ice in this super remote part of the map
I'm gonna drop this boulder on his face
is that a fucking bear?
I've never seen one before
got a question for anyone who may be more knowledgeable of the mechanics of the game here
so the blue lynel horn and the silver moblin horns give the same upgrade of 33, but one of them says that it greatly increases damage while the other doesn't
is there some secret boost to these parts whenever they say this stuff or is it just different descriptions for the sake of it?
yeeeeeee this is still here!
one of the very few cave/underground places in BOTW before TOTK
I've seen people put these skeletons in autobuild and make vehicles out of them

I was about to ask what bones but I just found the wall with a giant bone sticking out of it and I know what I must do now

ah yes, Link's divine beast!
I love how it's not even kinda fast it's obnoxiously slow
I'm confused because I already attached two bones to this skelly here and I got the ''you did it!'' jingle but nothing happened

am i stoopid?
That'll do it
I didn't no, I just came here because I was in the area and remembered this was one of my favourite places to discover in BOTW and wanted to see if the big guy was still here
nice
technically I found that on my own too but I didn't think to repair the skeleton until I came back with the quest
(do you want to know where it starts?)
might as well at this point yeah
it starts at the leviathan skeleton that's above ground
||you can easily see it on the map||
as in, the one in the other corner of the map?
approximately
dang
the funny part is, I had no idea that was there until I got the shrine next to it
at this point in the game you're gonna be doing a lot of warping
I never knew that giant skeleton was a thing
somehow I picked up the quest early in my playthrough but never got around to doing it until postgame
Yeah I got plenty of shrines across the map to get to where I need to get, I'm at that point in the game again
there we go
cute
yup
''Ojalá pudiera verla con esos dos ojitos tan tiernos''
unfortunately we've hit the limit of my Spanish
wait, "it would be so adorable if I could see it with both little eyes"?
(I know she says stuff like that in the JP)
Oh she was nice enough to mark it down on my map, thank you
kind of, she said something like ''Oh I wish I could see her with both of its cute little eyes''
she keeps referring to the whale's eyes as ''ojitos'' which is kind of like saying '' lil' '' which makes it sound endearing
aaaah that's how ojala works
right I did figure out ojo -> ojito on my own
admittedly, probably only because you screenshotted "ojo" before
I wish it were complete...
it IS complete, lady!
Have you ever seen anything more adorable than the mandible of this colossal whale?
yeah... it's totes adorbs
ballena, got it
:flutternod:
this lady is super thirsty for these fossils
she's like ''come on! we have another one to check out! don't just stand there! hurry up show me your map! Isn't this fantastic?''

I'm starting to wonder if this random lady is actually the hero considering how quickly she came all the way over here all by herself
what the hell lady
Oh you've decided to come, I'm guessing you are as fascinated by fossils as I am!
Look at this, do you think we may be in front of a small baby?
Link's answers: ''A baby?''
''I'm really not interested in the topic.''
he's such an asshole
a lot of NPCs have the mysterious power to move at the speed of subplot
Oh WOW I never saw this before
a little path of dust particles gets formed when you swing
Oh!
how'd that get there
Oh dammit I can't use Yunobo here and I'm out of arrows
welp...
really wish there was a way to craft arrows....
I'm actually surprised there isn't
come to think of it, arrow supply management is maybe the one aspect of gameplay that requires long-term planning and discipline
as opposed to "long-term planning" in the "I'd better fuse a few weapons again [doesn't think about fusing for the next hour]" sense

to be fair, this game throws arrows at you like crazy too
I had spent the entire last 7 hour session in the depths so I had used a lot of arrows at the time
only if you play in a certain way
my arrow supply only consistently went up when I was avoiding using them for things that "weren't worth it"
iirc on the last day I played TotK I started off with 300-400 and, since I knew it'd be my last day, stopped any pretense of conservation and ended with <100
I guess I must be very wasteful then
I never got close to 200 arrows before
it's also possible I was being overly conservative for most of my playthrough
Incredible! It seems like it was a baby colossal whale! It's so pretty... and looks so much like her mom!

generally any time a long game has a resource like that, I'm afraid of running out of it when I'm "supposed" to still have a lot
even though this isn't Resident Evil
I wish I could stay here forever
arrows are so essential in this game that I never had the problem of being afraid of running out of them especially once I started finding places that sell arrows in bundles so I can quickly go there if I need some in an emergency, I've also spent some time fighting and enemies tend to drop or be around arrows so I'd always have a couple of them but I've only really went up to like 100 in rare ocassions
I do understand the feeling but it never happened to me with arrows specifically just because I use them so much, and also I'm aiming with a mouse/keyboard for fine aiming so I tend to miss a lot of them too
Can't say I remember because I never really bothered to check, I sold a lot of minerals and items I had on me early on in the game and as I went forward I had less and less use for rupees so I've been amassing a small fortune you could say
so money hasn't been a problem
but yes i would usually teleport to some towns to buy arrows before heading off into a quest or exploring a chasm or something
because I knew I'd need a lot of them
In fact I might just do it right now because I'm fully out
this is in the nearest shop I have (bazaar)
ah, I was too afraid to sell off most of my high-value stuff so I tried to mostly stick to rupee sources that didn't involve selling off another limited resource
the main exception was that gerudo lady in goron town who gives you special deals for 10 of each gemstone; that was where most of my non-quest reward rupees came from
yeah thats one of the problems i have with BOTW and TOTK, in past zeldas rupies are thrown to you like candy but in this game you gotta sell stuff
which is fine in theory but if you're new, you dont know what you will need later, ores are valuable but you might need them for something big later so you dont sell them
this is the main place I go to to gather emergency arrows affordably
(kakariko)
still, that meant I had far fewer rupees than anything else, so 20 rupees for 5 arrows seemed like ridiculous, predatory prices
Early on in the game it was extremely difficult to get any rupees at all so I had no problem selling my stuff
Especially knowing I'd be farming a lot of it later on
Plus I also duped some diamonds
so that helped

(btw this is another reason you should cook, cooked food sells for more than uncooked)
lol
Yeah, I've also sold a lot of cooked foods
i think its about double
cooking up monster parts for elixirs, that you never use anyway, is great for cash
I mean, like, 100 rupees for a dish with 5 ordinary fruits and meats? or what?
thats an unhelpfull question, it varies
did you use 5 apples? not a lot of money
5 prime meats? more money
but if you're not using those apples, you might as well
I guess if I'd ever needed more rupees I might've experimented with this
Yeah the amount of rupees per meal depends a lot on the meal you're making, some can go from as little as 10s-40s rupees to 100s of rupees
its not a complex system that needs a lot of experementation lol
there's some experimentation with knowing what meals are the best to sell
its not based on what the meal does, but the value of the ingredients
thats the only possibly counterintuitive part
ah, the cooking labor has no value in this world
they must've all realized it takes about five seconds to cook everything
well no... it doubles the value of the ingredient
like a potion that restores 1 stamina and another potion that restores 1 stamina might have vastly different sell prices, depending on what you put into it
oh right, Nire
I'm feeling like after Returnal and a few more small indie games, I might play a 2D Zelda
have you settled on any post-TotK plans?
yeah I'm gonna be playing Link Between Worlds after I'm done with TOTK
don't know if I'll be playing any ''new'' games besides that one though, I have been meaning to replay a Resident Evil or Signalis again whenever I feel like it and I might jump back into DMC5 but all those I've already played a ton
I need something new to play
I bought a ps5 controller and then like... I don't have anything to play with it
right? theres honestly not a lot to play on pc thats not better on keyboard in my opinion
possibly the AC games or racing games are better on controller but most other things are better with mouse precision
...I play almost everything on pc with my gamepad
I tried playing this.... dragon... shooter thing. all the controls are in xboxese and the goddamn tail is super distracting
...why would you do that to yourself???
ah man still the best egg farm spot
thats factually the worst way to play many games
it's easier and more comfortable for me?
like the camera follows the dragon at mid tail level so the whole thing keeps clipping through the body, it's not great
wait this isn't general gaming
I mean I can dig into this more in #1032716748887179434 if you want but it's not like I've never tried k&m before
i really want to beat nintendo for keeping rain in totk
the only correct way to play a game on pc is through command line inputs
the only correct way to play is by having voice commands like in Lifeline
Whoops i fell down the huge hole and died, thank you cat
yay for going splat when you jump down the holes
i love how the flight suit set bonus negates all fall damage
the number of times that hting saved my ass
I never found out there was a flight suit
lol
on e of my fave little improvements was being able to spec up your horse so you could go for looks instead of just stats. but damn did i miss having the ancient armour to teleport my horse to me
im still kinda waiting for totk to fully "click" for me. im enjoying it but i feel like not as much as everyone else
that's how I always felt about BotW and OoT
botw clicked for me right away
BotW I was into. TotK leans pretty heavily on the “some assembly required” aspect and I’m not sure how I feel about that.
But I do miss the old style puzzles
i am absolutely terrible at these sort of build-y sandbox games
Same
BOTW i did find too many of the shrines repetative and i was never a fan of the tests of strength shrines. they were very little effort and often had big rewards. I do like the TOTK strip your resouces shrines
I was expecting the building to be pure sandbox fluff I'd ignore after the tutorial, but I was pleasantly surprised that the shrines required using it in fifty different ways and exploring the world occasionally required messing with vehicles
Eventide Island shrines
i cant build anything to save my life
I'm not sure I ever made anything significantly more complicated than a wing on a cart with some fans stuck to it
i like dthem too but i found the opposite, there was a lot of them and they got a bit tiring after the 10th shrine
it was easier after i ahd more health mind
like i am actually unsure what to do in this shrine but i hate looking solutions up
literally all i have to work with is a single fan
i wish autobuild could be told to use your supply of items i was finding myself not bothering with extra items later in and just getting all the zonite.
for the overworld you really just need two fans and a steering stick
for the shrines you needed actually specific cars
yeah I basically never managed my capsule supply, especially after discovering autobuild
wait what is autobuild
you want a hint? what shrine is it?
i stumbled on autobuild when i had like 5 hearts
(I'm aware the hoverbike is OP but I was deliberately not copying cheesy internet builds)
autobuild once you gets the ability allows you to auto build anything you have built before plus a bunch of pre built items that you can get plans for
I had no idea autobuild existed until veeeery late in the game, so a lot of the places I couldn't get to "organically" were visited shortly after I got it and put some basic planes in it
oh thank god
even if you dont build the hoverbike specifically, just two fans and a steering stick is one of the most convenient ways to get around the map
||i wanted to see what became of the great plateau and fell down a hole and well yeah||
it just didn't occur to me that this would work until the internet told me about 500 times how OP it is which immediately made me not want to use it
i kept a build of it for when i got really stuck in some places. and when i was pissed off at koroks and needing to get them to their friend
I just skipped the koroks that didn't look like fun and weren't on the way to wherever I was already going
apparently i'll be able to get autobuild shortly after unlocking the depths
oh right i was stuck on a shrtine
where are you at PK?
I completely missed the depths tutorial quest and went down there on a random whim much later with no instructions, so I got what I now realize was a very unintended experience
(though still a good one)
Ishodag Shrine
I used the fan as a stepping stone which does not seem like the intended solution
no i meant like, where are you at in the story, are you on the starting island, playing for days, what
most of the shrines allow many alternate/cheesy solutions, usually it's part of the fun
i definitely cheesed a few shrines and the gerudo dungeon
it's funny seeing the differences between playthroughs because the flight suit is literally the first full set I got

right?
seriously where is it
i'm on the surface, explored the first town outside the castle, and a few shrines
so maybe uhhh 4ish hours
||there are floating islands with rubble that stretch faaar into the sky||
do you have the paraglider yet?
speaking of the flight suit I took some time to upgrade some of my sets with the stuff I got so here's what I got
I'm missing the full 2+ upgrades on other suits like the Orni set and the Hero of Time and Twilight sets but those are mostly just for completion for me, the Time set doesn't have any special rewards
spoilering just in case lol
I think I already told you before but you can find the sets in || the ring sky islands ||
are you talking about ||the "test of courage"(?) sky islands with diving through rings? because I did all of those||
a minigame triggers that you have to complete
yeah
||did you talk to the guy again?||
I just got it
You don't have to talk to the guy you get it automatically, at least you should get it automatically
maybe Ixrec didn't get the record time
I also like havent seen anything much about the game online
I... don't know if what I did counts as "again" or not
so i know literally nothing other than the existance of autobuild and whatever the depths are
it's possible to miss just about everything so it's a reasonable question
I've already re-mentioned the biggest things I missed
though I did get the paraglider almost as early as I was "meant" to
ive had it since launch, but i haevent been playing it
I've been waffling on what to spoil since I have no idea what PK does or doesn't want to hear
it's certainly a bit late to put everything post-tutorial behind tags
sure but some basic consideration is in order
well yes obviously I'm not going to recap the one actual plot spoiler untagged
like i wouldnt post that link is secretly a ghost the whole time and died in the opening cutscene, and his arm is just the skin falling off the robot endo skeleton they put his soul in during the shrine of resurrection
wait shit
whelp i found the depths
oh right, I didn't even know the depths existed when I started playing
me neither
the first time I dove into a chasm I was expecting to die and respawn, I just wanted to see how exactly
i did die the first time
was that the cat interference?
it is so weird you have to unlock that
it happens during a quest that starts in lookout landing
only after you get autobuild
i was not a fan of that. the camera and others should have been a lot earlier
...no? the "normal" way to get autobuild is a later quest that comes after it
i thought the camera and sensor were after autobuild since you have to ||repair the guys balloon||
ok lemme just spell this out in tags
||Only the sensor upgrades require getting Robbie back to his lab by auto-building his balloon. The "intended maybe" route is talk to Josha to get the depths tutorial quest about her weird statues where you follow Robbie down a chasm, meet a light root, then Robbie enables your camera so you can take a photo of the statue to bring back up and show her. Then she can give you a quest saying that there's supposed to be a series of statues pointing to something interesting, and that's what brings you to autobuild.||
||ohhh. so there are 2 paths to the camera thats cool||
||today we both learned there's a 2nd way to get it
||
ah found the camera quest
||i guess it depends if you stumble on autobuild 1st or not||
people don't immediately go to Lookout Landing after Great Sky Island?
The game does a fantastic job of leading a horse to water. Letting the player choose to drink or not is integral to the design and I appreciate it.
idk it feels like i would have missed a few things unintentionally
botw did that fantastically
but i was about to fuck off to rito village and would have missed a few things had i not just learned about them in passing
I did; most of the Lookout Landing stuff I "missed" and chat had to tell me about is stuff that the game adds to LL after my first visit (and my evidently rather futile sweep of all the NPCs there)
Woohoooo
full upgrade, max stats! This is the most armor defense stats I have of any other set!
I'm totally doing the final sections/boss with this fit for sure
the || great fairy || wringed me dry of rupees after all these upgrades, I had to go || all the way to Goron town and meet the Gerudo minerals lady to sell some and make some money ||
despite all my resource hoarding you got far more armor upgrades than I did
I checked some more of the bonuses quickly so I can see if I wanted anything else but honestly all the other bonuses aren't that worth it, the ones I got are already more than enough and the most important part for some of them is just the defense anyways
You're not losing much by not doing it! But some have very useful effects
|| the gliding set has no fall damage once you get all parts upgraded twice
||
yeah that's a cool bonus
I pretty much don't need any more defense meals anymore with this set
i don't think ive ever purposefully cooked a defence meal
I think I only ever cooked for the tutorials and later one batch of sundelion stuff
i always make sure to fill up my meal tab completely when im in a town
camera get
I'm the type who either intentionally hoards or completely forgets to use consumables in a video game, unless there's a very specific kind of threat I cannot deal with any other way
many people bump into it completely by accident
part of the appeal of this game is how the intended progression is little more than a half-hearted suggestion
(I even ended up doing a significant piece of the main quest at a time when it wasn't even meant to be feasible yet)
"Accident" is a strong word, I found it early because its in an area players are naturally going yo investigate at some point if you played botw
Decided to check out the plateau and I can't climb it because it's raining
just get in one of the towers and fly over
yeah, tower launching and paragliding is so much faster and more fun than climbing a sheer cliff that high, even if rain didn't exist
(especially after you visit some of the sky shrines and can just warp up there directly)
:flutternod:
tower launching is the equivalent of teleporting to a tower in botw and jumping and gliding from the top
and it gets even faster when you get more ways to travel around
||you could always just go to the front gate and walk up||

right, these two
was not expecting this
the most questionable pair in these games
I KNEW this place would be relevant later!
I've been going for too long tonight but I'll come back next time
the happiest channel, Nire discovering the tears of the kingdom
what the fuck is this place
OH
wtf
i didn't know there was something on top of the Temple
there wasn't before
It was one of the first things I checked that I remember sharing here as soon as I got the ascend ability
but now there is and I'm gonna see what it's all about later
Spoilers about that rooftop: ||It is remarkably anticlimactic.||
Yeah :/
someone fused the fierce deity sword to a fkn bokoblin horn
probably the sadest weapon ive ever seen
the silver bobokin horn just looks sad, yeha
I don't hate how it looks, but as the strongest boko horn it's wack
WOW
really?????????
that was so absolutely incredibly unimaginably anti climactic

holy shit that kinda sucked
yeah...
thanks for the paraglider threads though I guess
it was literally nothing it just made me glide around the entire islands to light up 3 bonfires from the air without touching the ground and then it told me ''the story'' of the islands
which chalked up to ''yeah so they made 'em float and stuff anyways here you go''
I thought I was going to have a hidden boss fight or something
I TOLD YOU
is the paraglider fabric cool at least
It was building that up so well, it seems like by any measure it would be some key story reveal… but NOPE. YOU ALREADY KNOW THIS.
And it’s just POINTLESS
Eh the fabric is kinda meh?
But handy for completing the collection anyway
let me googlw
I never did look up the full list of fabrics and fabric quests
I’m actually really put off by that quest
it is one of the few flops
The sheikah is the only aesthetically pleasing fabric I have right now
iirc when I got to Hateno, I picked the Gerudo pattern out of all the fabrics I'd already unlocked and never found anything I liked more
I'd totally get || the Twili || one but that's amiibo unfortunately
there's a gerudo fabric?
Oh that's good, yes, that's very good, great change
there is, it's an easy one to get so I'll leave you with the vague hint that, yes, it's somewhere in the desert

Do you have any idea how little that narrows it down

But yeah I just want the Twili one I think
if you want me to narrow it down more just ask lol
Uhhh.... I dunno if I wanna start getting tangled up on getting more paraglider fabrics considering all the stuff I got left to do before heading onto the final part of the game
but if you want to tell me I'm not gonna stop you, depending on how easy it is to get I might just pass through and do that quickly
I do like Gerudo aesthetics asides from the Sheikah
I forget, did you already get all the shrines?
Nope it's what I'm getting through right now, doing some small quests in between but mostly I'm trying to get all that and get it done with
without just giving it away I guess the best way to put it is that the gerudo fabric thing is right next to one of the desert shrines (but not the one on top of their town)
Oh! Also I forgot to mention it but last night after doing all (?) the Hateno quests and made some choese I made some peetzer too (and some egg flan
yum)
PIZER
Is it the shrine on that area with the goalposts?
because I remember I did that when I was in the Gerudo area and I 'finished' that race thing
lol talking to Rotver he's telling me about all the upgrades I can get for the tablet (hero's path is vanilla like the amiibo outfits, very nice)
he said 'you need at least 15 shrines!'

I love when I get quests that I've already completed way before without even knowing it was part of a quest
256 hours wow
that's a lot
im at uh
125 i tbink ?
i beat the game at 100 hours
that extra 25 is my second playthrough
No I don't have 256 hours the hero's path goes back 256 hours back
yeah it was like that in BOTW
i like that all the DLC features are in the game itself now
''you need at least 5 monster pictures to get the encyclopedia sensor!''
fufufufu~
yeah that one i didnt have eaither lol
''to activate the new teleportation feature you need to go retrieve my teleportation prototype from the akkala lab!
.... wait you already have it''

this is so satisfying, I'm getting all of these right away
I guess I was meant to do this whole thing way earlier

fully upgraded fully decked out prunia slate!
woohoo
alright let's check out that gerudo fabric
this is exactly what happened to me too
lol luckily the 'requirements' for upgrading are pretty low
so it's relatively easy to get, just by naturally playing you can get 'em
alright let's do this (again)

🎊
ooooohh it's really pretty
desho?
:flutternod:
next time I go around Hatelia I'll change it just to have a different one
really all the other ones I have are pretty ugly and this one is nice and colorful, the Sheikah one is sleek and cool
there's also a Sheik one but, Amiibo
ugh
oh shoot there's more shrines around here in the gerudo desert, might as well get those while I'm here
hah, this one was fun to get
neat little puzzle dungeon
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, last session I got the upgrade for Tureli and honestly I'm not 100% sure what it does, does anyone know exactly what the upgrades do?
I upgraded him first because he's the one I use the most because the wind ability is op and super useful, plus he's ranged
I remember asking the same question and getting shrugs all around
I did multiple sage upgrades but never noticed an impact from any of them
weird, considering how much this game wants to hold your hand with some elements it's odd they wouldn't clearly tell you what's changed/show you clearly what's being upgraded
I'm guessing it's some minor damage upgrade
that'd be my guess too
by the time I got any upgrades they were all doing chip damage so I wasn't using them that way anyway
I'm definitely not getting all the sage upgrades
I might've tried, had I not spent my last energy for the game on shrine and root completion
I'm pretty sure I visited every sky island though
I also definitely visited every island, but thoroughly explored all of them to find the wills... not really, some I hadn't even activated the gacha zonnan machine yet
Though I wonder if they're only in the sky islands...
There's ||3|| in hyrule, ||0|| in the depths, and a bunch in the sky
I don't remember finding any elsewhere
the completionist in me wants to say screw it and explore some sky islands again
but the logical part of me is telling me don't waste time on that since it's really not that big of a deal anyways and doesn't change much
Yeah you don't need to find them all
I did
But the I just needed a regular supply of fans and controll sticks, and eventually dropped bothering with even those and just spent zonite
Considering it's 5 sages and it's 4 per sage I'm guessing it's 20 Wills?
If you want to, I think I can figure it out though if I just go around some islands, I might just get like 4 more to upgrade/enhance my pact with Riju
for... no particular reasons....
Lol
Best one to upgrade is probably tulin because bow
The zora upgrade is meh and I'm not sure what the 5th one actually gets
Yeah I upgraded him with the only 4 orbs I had because of that, but I don't plan on upgrading anyone else just because it doesn't seem that rewarding really... so I'm just gonna do Riju for selfish personal reasons because i like her basically
That's fair
Tulin in general just outclasses the other ghosts
Because you don't really see the numbers the upgrades feel a bit lackluster
If their weapons glowed more or something, it would atleast feel like a change
Anyway, I upgraded them all eventually
I think the sage ghost weapons get silently upgraded along with the mobs, though I'm not sure and only suspect it because I got a few too many encyclopedia entries using their ghost weapons
If I was like, a couple dozen hours earlier in the game I would have considered doing all of them maybe, but considering I'm pretty past my deadline of when I wanted to finish the game and I'm like over 100 hours I kinda wanna finish now so I'm wrapping everything up
don't wanna start even yet another item hunt now
I was hoping upgrading them would let their abilities recharge faster
That's fair nire
this is not a game any normal person would 100% in a strong sense
Well considering last time I spent over 7 hours doing all lightroots back to back I think we all know by now I'm not a normal person

I mean I did all roots and shrines
but you did say you were doing most gradually or you already had some that you got beforehand
I went all in from just a couple lightroots to all of them
I did roots, shrines, found but not upgraded all armour, sages wills and half the caves
Wait, they don't?
wow
It explicitly states attack up only
To be fair upgrading all armor is kinda useless, the rewards you get for upgrading some of them isn't even worth the effort resources and time to upgrade them
It's not
the only ones worth are the ones that have big defense numbers or ones that have very useful effects like the gliding or the froggy suit which I haven't gotten all parts of yet!!!
I upgraded ancient aspect and a few others to max and gave up after that
ancient what now
I basically did all the armor upgrades I had the right monster parts lying around for
a lot of the armor I just never found and had no indication of where to go looking for
and several of the upgrades required monster parts that would've taken forever to farm
The reward for all shrines is 100% worth
there were a few that I sorta kinda farmed a bit, and sometimes that worked, but others where it just wasn't feasible at all
What’s the reward?
oh aspect is what it's called in English
Dude, you can doubt me if you want but it's a genuinely fun suprise
it depends what sort of thing one expects from a 100%ing reward
I wasn't planning to get all the shrines but...
of course you're not going to get anything that radically changes how you play the game
the reward in question is purely cosmetic
but it is nice, and interesting
Oh it's not stupidly overpowered but it's genuinely fun and unexpected
Don't spoil ixrec! God
I don't generally care about spoilers so it's fine for me
but I will try to get it myself now
It's pretty neat
alright bois, only 20 more shrines, this should be quick
let's do it
might tackle the mazes shrines since those take a little longer
Good plan
this reminds me I never got around to downloading and testing any roms for 2d zeldas
Test the rom?
to make sure it works?
I have never
there's never a hard guarantee with downloading random files from random websites lol
Link Between Worlds should work well on my end, but I dunno if Link's Awakening would
I haven't planned on playing that one though
Why are you going to random websites?
for fun
if it wasn't clear I'm going to be emulating these

since I don't exactly own a SNES
I like clicking random links
Internet archive
Which are you going to play?
or the other relevant devices
Link to the past?
Or I can just dm them to you
That's the SNES one I think
sweet, looks like these both work
I have every fullset
I am so not used to calling it the SUPER FAMICOM
'Kamigami no Triforce 2'
in case there was any doubt this is a sequel to link to the past
it's also weird that in JP these are just <title> and <title> 2 but English gave them totally different names
heck even that title logo is 2 triforces
yeah, the naming convention is the same though
Link to the Past / Link Between Worlds

?
so this is how inputting a name worked on the SNES in Japanese
never seen that before
(there are other pages to the sides for all the other kana, including katakana)
anyway, seeing the opening animations and creating then loading the save files is enough to convince me these are really 100% working
Has a rom ever not worked for you?
In what way?
do... I really need to spell this out?
You don't need to do anything
I have been emulating games for like 20 years and never had a ROM not work
until I adopted RetroArch it's been maybe 50/50 for me
I've even had multiple roms that would sporadically not work, and require relaunching the emulator several times until I got lucky
maybe "the rom not working" is the wrong way to put it, since it's always a combination of emulator and rom (and often extra files the emulator can't ship with)
I think I've had cases where downloading "the same game/rom" from a different source worked around some issue my first download was having
but that hasn't happened recently enough for me to be sure or give specifics
I assume @unique dagger would also like to know I'm setting these up to play soon-ish
What's the other one to kaminodensetsu 2?
huh?
what's the one on the left?
(the other one besides kamigami no triforce 2)
typo
I confused triforce with densetsu
super famicom zeruda no densetsu kamigami no toraifoosu?
aka Link to the Past to us filthy gaijin
probably
unless you expect to start LBW in a matter of days and we'd rather sync on that
Uhhhh
hmmm
Considering how close I am to finishing totk, unless I start doing the final area tonight, I might just play again tomorrow and just finish it if I finish all shrines tonight
but I'll probably play one more of my weird little indie games first anyway
have you played LttP before?
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOO
Only a little bit like the beginning but never too much, and back when I was a kid
LttP is one of the best Zeldas
Well that's what they say anyways
I remember it didn' fully hook me when I touched it first as a kid so I was a bit sad that I couldn't seem to enjoy THE BEST ZELDA GAME EVER MADE!!!!111
with all the video game history stuff I've watched lately, it feels like LttP established the way 2D Zeldas work much like OoT established the way 3D Zeldas work
OoT is basically just 3d LttP
and both were revolutionary at the time in ways that are hard to fully appreciate now that there are hundreds of other games competing to refine that formula, including other Zeldas
I'd say Lttp established the way Zeldas work period
ye
OOT just brought that to 3D which was revolutionary in itself but LTTP is the one that started what Zelda is now
or, was I guess
now that BOTW established a new way

cursed gigachad Link

w.....what is this
well that was weird
One of my favorites
yeah that was in BotW too but you could only get it in like, 2 specific locations in the entire game
this shrine with the S curved slope and the three orbs was really fun
super cool physics
I really just had to go get the full Yiga set and do a whole ass side quest just for a single shrine
that was.... annoying...
how did you solve the S slope? I still have no idea what the intended, non-cheese solution to it is
how would you cheese it?
If I remember correctly I simply joined all the balls together with the big ball facing towards the green target and tilted towards the centre of the slope, that way all of them slide and roll down but also the big ball acts as a pendulum that the small ball can swing from once it reaches the edge
It's more about getting that initial position correctly because if you simply roll all the balls in a row and not tilted they'll just slide off and won't even reach the velocity they need to touch the target
weird, I tried so many different combinations of ball fusions to make them roll in an arc and nothing came close
I can't tell if you're describing one of the things I tried or something else
also, it's not the 100% shrine armor set but last night I did meet up with Koltin because I realized I had way too many of these bubbulfrog gems and I traded a bunch for sweet rewards, and one of them which I almost have completed is this super majestic armor set that I will share here once I get all of it because without the headpiece it's not complete
I could find that shrine again and record myself doing it if you want
Basically the ball fusion combination isn't the 'problem' you have to solve at all, it's from smallest to biggest
anyway there are many cheeses: any kind of explosive triggers the target, bombs, bomb arrows, etc, I believe dropping the balls onto the target can sometimes work, and iirc a video posted here before showed fusing a few balls then spinning them around sometimes can also count as hitting the target
It's all about the positioning of how you let them fall down the slope
yeah I think a recording would clear it up very quickly
I'm gonna be honest it really made me start scratching my head, so I just went up to the target and bonked the target with the big ball thinking it'd work and it didn't, but I'm glad it didn't! It was very fun to figure out
Alright, today I'm planning to finally finish the shrines so I'll remember that and I'll find it again and show what I did
I spent maybe half an hour in there getting lots of balls to roll in lots of arcs but nothing that'd actually reach the target
I think what I ended up half-accidentally doing was dropping my fusion near the edge and it just sort of bounced into the target instead of rolling
Yeah one of the things I tried was combining the balls in such a way that one of them would eventually bump into the ground and make it bounce into the target but I quickly realized that that was definitely not the way it wanted me to do it, eventually I got frustrated and I just started rolling the balls in different positions until I saw this one worked very well and I just eventually got it
but I had tried so many things before getting to that point
oh yeah that outift is badass
I've mentioned this indie game in #1032716748887179434 before, but now that I'm a few hours into it, I can say it's giving me a very similar open world exploration vibe to BotW/TotK, so this thread might be particularly interested in it: https://store.steampowered.com/app/757310/Sable/

'ere you go
I actually put it a little too much in the edge if you get it more in the middle-ish it'll hit right on
Oh this puzzle sucked
I loved it
I tried that 1000 times, always missed
I'm pretty sure that's one of the first things I tried and I never got it to roll anywhere near that far
Yeah
(incidentally, why is it an S-curve? I haven't seen anyone even claim to have a way to get the balls to move in an S shape)
Probably the shrines level designers only had so many blocks to use and didn't want to make a custom model for it
You were probably tilting it too much towards the inside, it happened to me too until I tried tilting it slightly and worked from there
Gonna go unlock autobuild. I glimpsed at where to go to unlock it just so I don't miss it
I figure if it's like botw then there is still plenty of fun stuff
So I ended up at the great plateau, and for the side quest ||with going to the old shrine spots that are now chasms, do I need to take the eyes somewhere underground or just drop them into the chasm||
you need to take them somewhere underground
underground
The former
And they de spawn if you don't do them immediately
am I the only one who never found this quest
yes lol
No
I also didn’t get that quest
I just completely randomly stumbled upon autobuild without that quest while I was exploring the depths
we're not talking about the autobuild quest
Ah
Really? Huh they haven't on me yet
there's a multi hour gap between PK's last few messages
before PK typed that to make the thing I just said confusing
Oh
I also never found this quest that PK is talking about
No idea what he’s on about
I think I've seen people talk about this quest here before, hence my reaction
If you do what I did and throw them all into the abyss then follow them down, they despawn in the abyss and reset on the surface
but I only heard of it after I'd done everything I wanted to do in the game
What does this quest get you?
Yes that's good pk
No idea
a loot box with a 1/5000 chance of getting to play the rest of the game as darth vader
Ooooh I figured it out
cool stuff
the answer is ||a heart container or stamina vessel||
Huh ok I found auto build here too
What?
That didn't happen to me
I chucked all the eyes down the holes and only afterwards I went to get them one by one in the depths
Once you throw an eye down the hole and the quest gets updated the eye will simply be at the bottom of it usually next to a platform with a bunch of zonan stuff for you to build and they will just be there until you retrieve it
which is very nice and worth it
Maybe that's came in a patch? I did the quest very early into the games life
I think I did it on 1.1, but I also did the whole thing in one go
these clowns really have been going around in underwear for a misunderstanding in words
Penn increased my wage pog
That questline makes BANK
Luckily my Link is a billionaire but if I was low on rupees or really needed to 'farm' rupees this would definitely be a quest I'd actively be doing to get em
Holy shit I am lost in ||the depths trying to find the big eye statue||
I found the remnant platform for a treasure chest I had already found. I've been there once but it's so confusing
you can turn on waypoints in the quest log
It's ||directly underneath the temple of time on the surface||
Just get a cooking pot, duh
iirc the waypoints are actually specific to the z axis so if you're seeing it under ground it should be underground
or maybe that's just waypoints
Oh yeah I got lost with that too
My recommendation would be that you go back to the entrance of that central hyrule mine and just explore around especially pretty much directly ahead from the entrance where there's some stairs that lead down and there's a little area over there that you totally can super miss and it happened to me
but if you look around you'll find where you need to be

look at this majestic af set
''I still sense the presence of bubbulfrogs, but I don't have any more prizes to give you..''
ah it's probably like 4 or 5 more surely
''I sense the presence of 101 bubbulfrogs remaining!''
Yeah fuck that
Man I am still stuck
with?
Finding this damn statue
Guess I'll do the other two tomorrow. Hopefully they are not as irritating
was this about the statues leading to the autobuild location, or something else?
Yeah but I found it
Now I gotta figure out why the vehicle I made won't budge
Is there some trick to getting cars to move
Turns out there is a trick
You have to attach the tires in a specific way or the wheels won't turn
This is how I originally had it
Wow
oh lol
Oh don't start
I am absolutely horrible at build games and sand box games
You can only get better from here :)
but first we need to talk about quantum linkage
Apparently it's supposed to be like this
Yeah that's how wheels work
Like, one of the first human inventions
You don't have to answer, but how old are you?
Don't be mean
Sorry for snarky, Starsong! Glad you got it figured out

in case you weren't aware of how OP stabilizers are at staibilizing
Pro tip for building in the dark!
Don't attach a zonai lamp into your buildings, they kinda suck for actual visibility and the added zonai device will burn through your battery quicker, instead just attach a big light flower by shooting one with your bow at your vehicle
Actual engineers playing this game I'm telling you lol
I only just realized that this build is also an example of the light seed advice you just gave
I forget, have I shown you the perpetual flight contraptions?
I don't think so no
the only other things I've seen are the mechas and torture devices for bokoblins, and the giant kolog crosses of course
and also rockets, like actual rocket demonstrations
New Zelda Tears of the Kingdom campaign seems amazing, i believe that the game launch will be BREATHTAKING!

oh yeah, I've heard of the multi-stage rocket builds
so, this isn't something you'd likely want to build for normal gameplay, especially since half of it is stolen shrine parts, but: https://www.reddit.com/r/HyruleEngineering/comments/14p5ar4/zelda_infinite_electricity_umpf_true_perpetual/
True Perpetual Flight. Zero Battery Cost. No Despawning Parts.
Stolen shrine parts
Link just desecrating these ancient civilization ruins for his dope electrical flying machine
it's not real engineering until you start using parts the game didn't expect you to have
like that antigrav railing
I seriously don't know whether they totally missed that you can just steal shrine parts with the autobuilder or if they actually did keep it in mind and decided to keep it in the game and see what players do with it
turns out, you can create an entire electrical revolution in Hyrule with them!
oh it's not even the autobuilder, the usual method is fusing stuff to your shield and then detaching it in tarrey town
even I fused one of those metal balls to my shield completely by mistake and ran around with it for a while
iirc some of these stolen parts don't work with or do weird things to autobuilds
Honestly weirdly enough I kinda hope the next Zelda game will take advantage of all this and implement more modern technology
I already mentioned before how trains would've been a super cool addition to this game especially since there's so many railroads around that you don't use that much
Which goes hand in hand with the whole idea of rebuilding Hyrule that was kinda left in the dust
the really funny part is when everyone advanced from "stealing everything that's not bolted down" to "actually, take the bolted stuff too"
I've seen a few posts where someone failed to detach some other random glued-to-the-wall shrine part and was asking for more ideas
I spent 4 straight hours trying to rip off multiple elevators

these guys are a menace
Link you're supposed to rebuild Hyrule not steal and destroy it!
now we know what happened to all the Sheikah tech
OoT outfit is complete
drippy
I forgot the Biggoron Sword exists here too, that sheath is comically large
kinda sucks that I don't enjoy playing with big two handed swords in this game, in the original OOT it was more akin to a regular two handed sword you could swing around comfortably but not with the shield so it was a tradeoff, but two handed swords in this game are very annoying to fight with for me
well look who it is!
if it aint my man karud (bolson)
I like the big swords. Spin to win
Feels good to knock moblins around and they ragdoll everywhere
speen
I do enjoy doing that
But I'm at a point in the game where anything other than silver enemies will die in a few hits
it they did as much damage as the stagger implies I might've used them for something other than a durability sponge
so slow giant swords aren't appealing to me
and silver enemies don't die any faster to big slow swords, at least IME
