This past Monday I had a meeting with Paradox and Colossal Order to ...
Don't know if anyone caught these
Biffa and Overcharged I think have videos too
Grade seperation! But what of that other track?
yeah... that's precisely what I gotta figure out
After I'm done with all that I gonna be rebuilding downtown
since it is kinda ass rn ngl
I hate that roundabout, totally not realistic
America ๐ฆ
nvm this stupid game doesnt have elevated metro stations????
wtf
I think you may have to unlock those.
That looks so good
What's that side going to be?
now I just gotta completly rework this thingie
zero clue
How...
Waterfront gas market is competitive
It the red a tunnel?
no, overground
since I have an outside of city highway that handles all the traffic I can finally do this
Nice!
in the making
that's a lot of buses
even tho there is a traffic incident
bus still takes people in
just doesnt drive fully to the stop
how can ai be both that dumb and smart at the same time
niceee
so the game decided to randomly crash
for some reason that crash reset my settings???
even tutorials???
wtf
now it is hard to come back to my stable fps as i don't remember which tweaks i used to make the game playable
but turns out the game is so much beautiful on maxxed out graphics
...
with 12 fps
The next update to Cities Skylines 2 is on the way and it's a big one! If you've ever thought that the game was a bit too easy, or that the economy didn't work as your expected it to, this update is for you!
In this video, we'll walk through the developer diary while i show you early access footage of the build, showing the differences that ...
I can't get smooth frames anymore even setting the settings as low as possible?????
tried setting graphics to the ones I used before and it has the same issues
I feel like over time I will remove this wheel as it is not up to the place
Now that's plural!
Upper Manehattan, Downtown Manehattan, Central Manehattan,
more pony names and etc
dont really want to make it pony themed
...
fuck this game
it did it again
it fucking did it again
my settings fucked up again
it reset everything to default
I installed a settings manager mod
hopefully that helps next time it does this.
fucking piece of garbage, im not the only one with that issue, the game just randomly does that
have to patch it up with mods
I was like "Oh, wow! That's beautiful! pause Wait..."
fixed supports??
now the easy part...
the thing is that for some reason they made it so
you cant drag metro rails through a road
i tried everything the pathfinding is jsut ass
this is bs.
fucking why
FINALLY
WHY IS THAT I CAN LEAVE IT WITHOUT A LOOP ON ANOTHER STATION
BUT HERE IT WANTS THIS
???????????
sigh.
at least it is over
holy shit I did it
I can't plan american suburbia for shit ๐ญ
why is it so hard
I don't want to go with grid, I want cul-de-sacs
I'm still annoyed they don't have cul de sacs built into the game.
oh yeah that's a huge missed opportunity
Note that they specifically point out that this will likely break mods, though they tried to work with the bigger ones to have an update ready before this goes live.
Additionally, we have added a Tile Upkeep cost since the dev diaries, which you will want to keep an eye on, especially if you have used Unlock All or mods to unlock all map tiles. Cities that have unlocked tiles gradually as they become available through milestones are expected to be able to afford the land they own (perhaps with some adjustments to taxes and service budgets), but if your city is still small and has unlocked most of the map, you may want to enable Unlimited Money.
Households without adults will now move away.
No more 8 year olds owning homes now.
The Cities Skylines 2 Economy 2.0 patch has just dropped and if you plan on loading into your existing city, there is a decent change your city is going to be in a difficult financial situation.
In this video, we'll go over the different ways that you can limp your city into the post-Economy 2.0 old in both vanilla ways an using mods. We'll ...
Line go down?
Finally, I can afford my own home and not meme wish that I should have bought one at 8 years old versus being in school! /s
i see the problem it creates now.
more unreasonable pop. decline
Finally started a new city yesterday to try the patch. Starting out is definitely harder now, I'm unlocking milestones a long time before I can afford new buildings. I desperately need a recycle center and a high school, but I'm constantly borderline on my income.
My cemetery is on fire
Four fire trucks showed up, but only one can access the entrance to put out the fire.
I paid more attention to Allmost Meat
That's the vegetable farm I had to destroy & rebuild after the tornado
@blissful comet How's performace so far?
I'm not super-duper interested in city-builders right now, but I own CS1, and might want to take a swing at CS2 if they've fixed the performace issues.
huh, what a smart way to save some development points for crematorium.
So far it's pretty good.
Good to hear. What sort of FPS are you getting and how consistent is that FPS?
80-140 FPS, depending on how much I'm zoomed in. Right now, I'm watching the mother of all traffic jams from putting High Density residential into my city, so 88 FPS
Note the Traffic Jam indicators at the top of the screen on the highway
I only have one highway into my city on this map. I need to buy a bunch of tiles and make a loop around the city to help relieve congestion.
Be careful with that tile upkeep
My income is insane because I put down a geothermal power plant I'm selling power to other cities.
And Harley just flopped down in front of my screen, so I guess I'm done for today.
dlss?
also I dont think that low quality is worth of a trade-off for high frames
Medium settings with DLSS, 1440p.
where is your AO and shadows?? did they break the lighting or why does it look so scuffed on medium
I'm running off what the nVidia GeForce app suggests right now, shadows are off entirely IIRC (I'm at work now, can't check)
I think the suggestions are out of date, but I haven't bothered fighting with it yet.
you should turn them on def
Well, I can't play again until Sunday minimum so, maybe if I remember then'
Also, you're talking to someone who grew up on the Atari and NES, I'm not terribly concerned with the best graphic fidelity.

I just wanted to pop in and confirm that we're aware of the bug causing office companies to downscale until they're left with just 5/5 workers. This affects both high and low density offices. We're working on a fix, but I don't have an ETA for when it will come your way. We may not be able to patch it until after the summer lock.
Oh dear....
Yeah, that's really bad.
Wheres the mod that changes the chirper logo to the X logo?
Wondering is someone actually made it
I know there were mods for C:S1 to disable it.
Some people just didn't like it at all.
I ended up changing it to a news ticker.
I liked the information it provided, but hate the twitter format. Give me processed news in a news paper to ticker please.
Yep, I'm old school. I played SC2k, SC3k and SC4.
Also, a mayor getting info via only a twitter? Very questionable.
Sorry, that's just one of a very few major issues I have with the game.
I'm gonna have to give up on this city. I cannot fix the traffic problems without buying a dozen tiles and making a highway loop, which I cannot afford.
I probablly should've branched the highway off earlier into multiple forks to my city, but it's too late for that now.
Tried to relieve it with a rail connection, but it's not getting any passengers, so I've not set up the external route right somehow.
Ouch. Maybe I can figure it out when I get C:S2. I tend to be pretty good at this sort of stuff.
Are both ends connected to the outside world so it's a run-through station?
I honestly don't know, I may not have hooked it up right.
Try that, or if its just one connection, form a balloon loop to give a path out. If I recall correctly, both ends of a line within the city must connect to the rails outside the city.
Unlike IRL or any other train game (Transport Fever, Railroad Tycoon), a terminus or isolated line is not possible.
Oh. Well that's not going to work then because my city is in the way. I don't have room to loop the lines.
Get a loan and buy tiles, your income looks good
I'd need around a dozen tiles to make the loop, and the upkeep on those plus a loan would likely break the bank. Even if it didn't, I wouldn't be able to afford anything else.
Could I have your game save?
If you really want, I'm going to start over with lessons learned from this one.
Sure, why not
I have no idea where it stores game files tho
C:\Users\Sora Uta\AppData\LocalLow\Colossal Order\Cities Skylines II\Saves
Nothing there, just a Quicksave file
yeah htats it
Eh? That has all the savefiles in it?
Pretty sure that's just the quicksave from the aborted attempt at a new city I tried yesterday tho
did't work
That's all I've got in that folder.
Oh wait, that's the CS 1 folder
There is no CS2 folder there
Ah there we are. I was in Local, not LocalLow (WTF is that folder name?)
That's where I gave up
okay I started by removing some crosswalks
Where is your bus station?
dosen't seem too bad
@blissful comet build a bus station, you canm connect a bus line to a connection on the highway outside the city
I have a terminal on the left side of the map, I don't remember if I ever built a station itself.
It's why you have so many taxies
I was wondering about that
Thats a Bus Depot its where new buses come from and where they go when out of use
Right
Hm. May try that then.
you can ajust how many bus for each line, and switch to eletric busesm because you need to opt in every time you make a line
Try this
And having a few no left hand turn signs might help too
left and stright only
Okay i'm happy with this
the two one lane roads here might of fixed it
it forces the cars to go further down and then make a left hand turn into the city
Or try something like this?
I kept getting errors when trying to make roundabouts there. Might look at it again.
Patch notes
Today's patch includes fixes for some of the issues reported with patch 1.1.5f1, also known as Economy 2.0, as well as some new free content. Our art team has been working on new service building variations and additional theme vehicles to expand the options you have. For those of you who enjoy detailing, we have added an Age Selector to the Tree Placement Tool for more control over your trees, and the Surface Tool which allows you to add 11 different surfaces to your city. As the #1 implies, this is only part 1 of "Detailer's Patch" as we want to address the feedback we've received and improve the support for this play style. More information on what else we have in the works to com
SURPRISE! Just 9 days after the Economy 2.0 Patch, Colossal Order has released the Patch 1.1.6f1, which they are calling "Detailers Patch #1". And if you've been hoping for more assets and improve functionality, you're in luck - this patch has it in spades!
The patch contains 8 new zonable roundabouts with decorations, the ability to place tr...
Office bug has been fixed

Apparently you might have to demolish offices to get them to repopulate, as the fix only kicks in when a new company moves into the building.
You can zone on roundabouts
Highly suggest watching the video there's a ton of detailing functions now
Can use Surface tool to create custom lots
@blissful comet does your highway work now?
I didn't feel up to playing yesterday.
you have much lower populaton then me
it felt weird having a city that drives on the right
heh
Oh wow! that's awesome
- Made improvements so Post Offices can now receive varying load sizes of mail. Additionally, delivery vans can transport mail.
- Adjusted utility consumption, capacity, construction cost, and upkeep of Post Office 02 and its upgrade.
- Fixed missing icon for Radio Mast Wireless Network Antenna upgrade.
the tile costing too much problem was not really a problem for me, I've played this file on and off since release and I keept my city more compact and not buy tiles for no reason
Does C:S II include trams/streetcars by default? They're my favorite form of intra-city mass transit and are great at reducing road vehicle usage.
Yay! I can work with that.
Thank you.
Trams being locked behind Snowfall of all DLC was the worst thing ever
Yeah that was a weird DLC to place them in for CS1
I concur. It makes sense if you think about where trams are commonly used, but here in the states, intercity streetcar networks were and still a thing, from the northeast to the southwest.
tl;dr They've not been able to hit stability and performance targets for console yet, so they won't hit their planned October release. Will re-evaluate in August.

Hot take: A pony mod for Cities: Skylines
Like pony citizens?
man fuck this game
why did it reset my settings
i just wanted to play it after a monthly break
but now i need to do 1000000 things to make this shit run as it did
...
now it also runs in 30 fps with the lowest graphics
Am I the only one who's performance signifyingly dropped this patch?
on the plus side they made amd framgen work in the game
but it is kinda cursed sometimes
The fact that roads aren't so fiddly and that you can do that makes the game feel so much nicer to play than 1, yeah XD
Noice~
With some of the new ones?
They are so amazing
It's odd seeing the same map, but a different city on it...
no
the same
so it uses less employes
I've played with mods that fixed buildings by adding more employees
Ok i did add some new
like urban elementary school
I started a new city this weekend, it's going decently so far.
Made an expansion on the left to cross the river & get more highway access, plus gave me some Ore and Fertile Land, so I made a rural community down there.
From the opposite side:
... literally five minutes later, I hit a power bottleneck.
Those are some tall mountains
oof
i like that you actually extract resources I need to make specialised industry in my city too so that I balance out my budget
it is currently at -500k a month
Oh I love the specialized industry, it's really fun to have.
Industries was like the best DLC
I think the new update broke my city coz Ive been playing with mods
my zoning demand is at zero and expenses continue to grow as taxes plummet
guys
I've tried running simulation
it is joeover
the city is broken
it would never recover
Did you try resetting the offices?
I just had to quit playing because my cat insists on laying in front of the monitor.

This was an interesting one... ||I wasn't expecting him to pull so many mulligans and to also build the highway above the paper mill||
A little crazy lol
Yeah, I've seen the latter IRL once, but it's still crazy to me.
Sometimes you don't get a project right and you have to decide if it is better to call a mulligan and redo the project, or roll with the punches and incorporate the crazy projects into your storyline. After giving it some thought, we'll take a route somewhere in the middle.
In this video, we'll redo the controversial highway bridge over the ...

Livestream. I love the thumbnail.
Welp, played most of the day, but didn't actually gain a lot of population. Was mostly managing some issues with traffic, and using my new Incinerator to get rid of all my landfill garbage.
Wound up adding some new schools, expanding some existing ones. Fixed a few bus routes so they weren't going through my most busy intersection. Repurposed a few areas with new roads & zoning. Added a Water Treatment plant so I could stop dumping sewage into the river.
Managed to save up enough money I could buy a few more tiles, get a new highway connection to my main arterial road to hopefully relieve some traffic. Added rail and trams to the new districts I'm laying out on that side of the city before I start zoning, hoping that'll help with the massive influx of population when that happens.
And as I was finishing that, I hit Milestone 10 (Small City).
Parking! I need to remember to add parking to that area tomorrow.
Any pics?
I meant to grab a few, but the game locked up after saving.
Oof, oh well
I did not respect the terrain in a few spots, so there's some ugly bits around the new high school on the west end, but oh well.
Oh, and all my schools were at capacity by the time I quit.
I need to sim for a while to make cash. I've got really good income, but I spent all but $9k right before I stopped for the day.
Okay, so here's the broad overview of my city, Ashland.
Little rural community across the river for some coal & rock mining, plus some farms. I'll expand it later, there's some more fertile land over there.
This is the "west" end of the city. Sterling Square and Applegate are mostly single family homes and row houses. Applegate has the main bus station.
Hawthorn grove is basically shops and offices. I did add a water treatment plant, because my sewage was hitting its limit.
Old Ashland is where I started my build, Alder Hills is a gated community for wealthier folks.
King's Corner is my industry, with a forestry & oil site. The Incinerator is where the original landfill used to be, and I just put the rail yard up where my second landfill was. Fucked up the terrain, but oh well.
Maple Town is mostly offices and medium-density residential. I dropped a Geothermal plant across the road to the north, I'm making craptons of power.
Elizabeth Junction was my first higher density zoning, but the problem is that EVERYONE wants to come in via that highway connection to the south across the river. I can't get them to use the one further west. I created a new one to the east in my new development, but people still seem to prefer this one.
I wound up moving a couple service buildings into that little cluster to the right, and zoned in some Low Income residential there. You can also see the crappy walking bridges I built between the shopping area in the north and the residential in the south.
And this is going to be my new section of the city:
Chester Hill will be another gated community of mostly low density. Walnut Way is going to be very high density along the river. Anchor Crossing will be medium density.
There is a commuter train station at the top, plus a small bus station, a second bus terminal and a tram terminal.
There's a series of three tram lines, two running either direction down to Walnut Way and back up to the rail station, and one running from the rail station over to Elizabeth Junction, near its bus station.
So the idea is that you can arrive in the city via train, take a tram to the main things in the west side, or take a tram or bus to the bus station and from there go all over the city.
My eventual goal will be to place a small train station on the west end, so you can take a tram up to the train, a brief train ride to the west, then bus around on that end.
Eventually, the west end will likely be developed as more industrial zoning, as I'm not manufacturing as much locally as I'd like. I'll wind up putting cargo rail over there, and maybe a boat terminal for cargo and passengers. Trouble is, the land is very hilly over there, so it'll be hard to build on.
Like, just look at that frickin' canyon
If I ever run low on power, I may just build a hydro dam.
Also, at some point I want to do something with this island:
Right now, I need to sim until I get some money and clear up this goddamn traffic
Awesome build!
Uh, oops
Must've been a crash and it gummed up everything
I moved the bus stop and that seemed to free up a little bit of traffic
Okay, the problem is the tram stop. I need to move that further down.
Thank you!
Started expanding into the new area, divided up the riverside districts. The middle is going to have a tourism focus, the one by the highway will be office and commercial.
Look at that glorious telecom coverage
The rich people have their own private schools.
My new river skyline
Pedestrian crossings were screwing up this intersection, so I made some elevated walkways
... I keep forgetting there's a photo mode
Done for today. I'm finding that this map has the problem where there's very little even terrain. I have no room for a University or any of the other big buildings.

Small patch coming out tomorrow
Combination of a decorations patch, and a fix for the homelessness problem.
Colossal Order has just released Cities Skylines 2 the Patch 1.1.8f1, which they are calling "The Decorations Patch". That's because the patch comes with a new decorations menu contains nearly 300 new props. However, reasonably, this patch is coming out primarily to fix the Homelessness Bug that has been present since the last batch of patches...

We have already removed it and the current version as of Thursday, October 31, 2024 10:35 AM is safe to download and use, but if your mod synced and you played the game using the mod between Monday and then, there is a possibility that you may have the malicious file.

A couple of weeks back I challenged you all to create one hour cities, with the a prize of merch and steam gift cards for the winner. You guys delivered, with 62 cities being submitted!
In this video, take a look at the submissions and then vote in the community tab for your favorite! Voting will close Sunday Nov 24 at noon CST!
And if you...
i started playing
they are meh
i'm happy with them, i make money with both and don't have any major issues
that's my new one
ooo, neat
I need to play this game again
i think they're okay, obviously beginner level but i like them
first one has an abandonned buildings issues though lol
I mean... I have a world record for goodness sake, and I don't touch the game still...
and this one's from 2019 lol
yeah, it's hard to fix things like that at a beginner level
???
do tell
what i found that worked in my second city is to try nd always have a bit of demand for everything
commercial demand i keep like 1/3rd of the demand bar otherwise they seemed to run out of goods to sell fast af
that's p cool!
I should do more runs, they added a new catagory
btw how do y'all make cool looking cities
do you plan them at the beginning or do you rebuild them once you're rich N
i've watched him after masque i think recommend me it, but iirc he has infinite money
For me, I just sorta build a small town at the start and build bigger and bigger towns
Depends on the build. Some of them are vanilla, no mods, no cheats.
He does play with mods and assets on some series too
oh i only watched a single serieso f it oop
IIRC, Verde Beach was his no-mods playthrough for CS1.
oh yes it was this one !
how so ?
my style of playing for now is really trying to not to be in t he red
and have people happy
A story can add depth to your city. Like maybe there's some resistance to a certain project that leads to that project going in a different way than how it would usually go
yes but about the city looking good ?
like do you have a plan for how you'll do things later on when you're in the early stages ?
I plan as I go
can i see your cities
Let me see if I can find some screenshots
hell yeah
how do you have so little industrial
i need to get assets to get all the cool lookingstuff
One thing I noticed, Yanis, you have some really big gaps between your zoning. Narrowing that might help a bit.
Also, do you only have the base game? The Industries DLC has some specialized industry that makes it easier to meet Industrial demand without huge zones.
You don't need to, you can still do a whole lot with vanilla assets
onlt base game yess
i like the big gaps, i find it looks nicer in low density zoning
but as soon as it getrs high density it sucks though
i'd like the dlcs but i don't have any monies so no dlc for now
Found the map
I never did finish this city though...
Another thing that is useful for making a natural city is working with the terrain. Follow rivers, go around hills.
What website can you get this from?
The UK Region Pack for Cities: Skylines 2 has just been released, and itโs the biggest pack yet! While the assets are perfect for creating a UK-inspired city, this pack has something for everyone to get excited about. It includes the one thing weโve all been asking for: more low-density homes.
But it doesnโt stop there! This pack features six ...
Amazing! They're inching me closer and closer to the buy button...
Add a touch of classic UK architecture to your city with the UK Pack. Created by community asset creators Macwelshman and Rik4000, this starter pack includes a range of signature buildings that players can use to build their UK-inspired masterpiece, along with various service buildings & six new zones to match.

Where's my honey mustard and beer to go with it? /s
american layout with european architecture
basically yes uwu
the montreal we could have had but didn't

I took the terrain from interlaken for this town. It is very mountainous and has limited flat space.
I see.
grid grid grid grid grID GRID GRID GRID GRID GRID GRI
-American City Planners
Only until 1940-50, when they decided that they hated the grid after all
(Also, the Indus Valley civilization, ancient China, ancient Rome, etc. etc.)
Grid is good.
Cites Skylines uses square parcels so... Grids are easiest
Oh, just like Oklahoma! And the rest of the midwest
You don't actually have to build on the grid when placing buildings!!
I know, but it's still the easiest
Tho mods def help with more non-squared building
As CityPlannerPlays says, "Respect the topography!"
Uwu
I am extremely familiar with it, not least because last year I lived in a part of town where all of the major roads (except the Interstate) very transparently followed the grid lines.
Midwest City followed that trend with major roads, like 10th and Reno
CS1 is on massive discount right now:
I have made the decision to buy Cities Skylines 2
I brought Ultimate Edition of course
It's a good game!
Hopefully you have enough storage space for the new country packs.
I had to clear some, yeah
The Urban Promenades and Modern Architecture Content creator packs have just dropped and for the second week in a row we have new content!
If you own the ultimate edition of Cities Skylines, this means that you will have this content right away, but the aim of this video is to see if everyone else would want to pick it up.
So in this video, ...
This is my first time buying Content Creator Packs
It looks like the service buildings are the main draw
Modern Architecture is looking to be a must-buy. Even though the sub buildings are using the old "snap to main building" feature, they are cheaper, smaller, and have more options than the vanilla service buildings.
That's how people enter your town if there's no bus route & they can't afford a car. Did you just zone Low Income Housing?
There's some yea, tho I think all the high density is low rent rn
Yup, that'll do it. If you've got a bus station, throw a line out of the city.
First, I would need to add a public transport
This is why I avoid low income housing until I have at least a bus station.
Looks like there's a free weekend for CS2 coming up.
Nice
Small line

About the Project:
Welcome to the first episode of my new Cities Skylines series! This is something I have been working on for 6 months. A love letter to Cities Skylines 1, a game that is at it's peak...
Quite an interesting series he's starting
there's a park, a dog park, and a playground
thanksss!!! :DDD
i'm quite happy with it
but i wanna make a fully custom park at one point, game leisure parks are annoying to work with
new city after 1h30 of playing
this one i'll try to make it somewhat nice looking
รanis hitting that grid(dy)
ooo! More low density!
It's the early stages!!
It will be better soon
Send screenshots!!
Yo is the map cs2 exclusive or can you get it in cs1?
City skylines, not counter strike
it is a cs1 mod called csl map view. it generates a map view of the city you are playing.
some screenshots of my city
it is now 120k in population
my current map view
I think there's also a map mod for CSII as well
The new update is a pleasant surprise

"homeless fix" ๐
Yeah, hopefully this actually fixes the bug. The problem was that if someone was "evicted" from their home (either you demolished it, or it leveled up beyond their ability to pay) they would never move into a new place, even if you zoned for it. They'd just be stuck in a permanent Homeless state.
Stress testing homelessness
I may have decreased density in some areas...
Nah, that's just me being dumb
There were only like 3k before this
wait nvm
This is the prepatch save from yesterday

i wonder if eastern europe pack is going to contain commie blocks
Probably a good chunk of Brutalist architecture, yes.
France is the only western country to have widespread commie blocks around its cities
Western designers got a bit wild with it
Habitat 67, or simply Habitat, is a housing complex at Citรฉ du Havre, on the Saint Lawrence River, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, designed by Israeli-Canadian-American architect Moshe Safdie. It originated in his master's thesis at the School of Architecture at McGill University and then an amended version was built for Expo 67, a World's Fair held f...
I guess technically the eastern European version (the OG) is called Stalinist architecture
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stalinist_architecture
Stalinist architecture (Russian: ะกัะฐะปะธะฝัะบะฐั ะฐัั ะธัะตะบัััะฐ), mostly known in the former Eastern Bloc as Stalinist style or socialist classicism, is the architecture of the Soviet Union under the leadership of Joseph Stalin, between 1933 (when Boris Iofan's draft for the Palace of the Soviets was officially approved) and 1955 (when Nikita Khrushchev...
i wonder how would they choose their phrasing in the teaser video
coz you have to be really politically correct with the term eastern europe
since ppl in some countries dont want to be associated with that
/ inb4 they actually make the pack contain czech and polish architecture and have to rename it to central europe pack after backlash
How many are they planning on doing?
Ah, 4 more
I expect US East will have a lot of New England styles (ie. New York, Boston, etc.), while West will have California and PNW stuff.
I wish they would do Mexico, Spain, or Latin America because the North American Theme is just the US mostly
Would be interesting. I expect we'll see more of that stuff once the actual Asset Creator tool is released.
No word on that I assume
Nope, they're still trying to get it ready for public use, but they're focused primarily on making the core came run smoother as their top priority.
Move it seems very crashy this update
Started a new city. Went completely broke.
Started a new city on the same map. This time I was more careful with my spending... right up until I took out a massive loan to buy a Geothermal power plant, but thankfully selling the excess electricity has me in the green for now.
That's good
My city has been booming, after we fixed the flooding by draining the oceans
I dislike water in both games
It's running mostly the same mods as Magnolia County
I'm running entirely vanilla, myself.
Tho it's on Segunda Beach
Spaghetti DDI
Landscaping to ignore the sins of highway tearing through and under houses

American DOTs like:
Well it is an American based city, I guess I shouldn't be too hard on myself, it's realistic

I thought American city is more: Giant highway straight through town, with grid roads on either side
It is a giant highway with grids
And the giant highway is usually haphazardly routed through the centre.
Well it is, at least through the poorer town
The Kennedy Interchange, unofficially, though universally, referred to as Spaghetti Junction, is the intersection of Interstate 64 (I-64), I-65 and I-71 at the northeastern edge of downtown Louisville, Kentucky, United States. It is named for the John F. Kennedy Memorial Bridge, which carries I-65, located immediately to the north of the interch...
I-95/I-195/U.S. 6 in Providence is worse.
Just one more lane, it'll fix the traffic I swear just one more lane
Surprisingly my current city (Boise) only has the mild example of I-184, because when the freeways were originally built in the 1970s they were mostly through less developed areas. You can clearly see this on the map on page 3 in this 1975 study: https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/GOVPUB-TD2-7ebea361d2253e1bf5a68c9e887dd0c8/pdf/GOVPUB-TD2-7ebea361d2253e1bf5a68c9e887dd0c8.pdf
The existing development conforming to this patter postdates the freeways, and was built where it was built because of the freeways. Which is a whole different can of worms...
They have a monster interchange in their 5 square miles?
- Yes
- the legal borders of Providence are, like most U.S. cities, very silly and I donโt care about them.
Basically the entire western and southern side of Downtown Providence is a massive freeway interchange that cuts it off from the rest of the city just like the Woonasquatucket River does from the north and east.
I watch a Segunda Beach episode and then I look back at my city and I just go like: "What have I done..."
Ok, it's not that bad...
To be determined?
paris looking ass buildings
Correct
My newest city
oooo! Nice
Had to take out a loan to afford that geothermal power plant, but selling the excess power has me making money
Everypone is playing cities today lol
Oh wait, that's Segunda too
I love the new parking lot roads.
They're great!
I keep getting frickin' hailstorms.
There's hail? I guess I never did invest into EDWS
somethings like this?
That does look quite nice
make the riverside a park
youve meant a huge wallmart parking lot?
nuar!
i hate you
youre welcome โค๏ธ
what's that huge building
public restroom
I actually think this layout would be enough for a start
ill gradually develop it later
Medical University
Well, I bankrupted my town twice & had to reload... but the third time was the charm, I was making money hand over fist.
oof
Forgot to take a screenshot before I shut down. It's mostly a grid, but I did something funky with my newest district because of the terrain.
Now that I'm actually making money, I'm going to build a bus depot & start getting public transit in place. Once I fill in the new district, I need to figure out where I'm going to expand.
Also, fucking hailstorms.
Spencer County
This is the original city (Old Spencer district) and the areas I expanded into. Elizabeth Crossing is using UK style buildings for fun.
Oh it hid the district names. Eh.
Anyway, this is the other side of the main road in. There's a nasty slope, so I just made the new diagonal districts to try and even things out a bit.
So, uh, you can see where the landfill used to be up top, and a quarry at the bottom. Will have to wait for that pollution to die down before regular zoning goes there.
Cool
This looks great!
I should use some too...
Yeah those are cul-de-sacs in the diagonal area
Oh god, this curve
What's with the car and bus?
Graphics glitch.
oh dear
Anyway, I think that filled in nicely
My stroad backfired
Oh no! Anyway...
What kind of crash was that? That's 230 m from the road
6 lane with stores on both sides wtf
Oh right makes sense
baffled at road and urban design
"it's american"
everything starts making sense.gif
Postwar civil engineers thought new technologies meant they could break with traditional design patterns and bring about a new, better paradigm, one centred on moving many private automobiles between designated and separate regions for work, school, residential uses, shopping, and recreation. They were mistaken but only now are people realising that.
I knew it was a bad idea and did it anyway
Maybe I could redevelop it into something else tho
That would be nice.
Road diet (narrowing streets) perhaps?
Maybe, the problem is that it connects two highways and connects the port to the industrial area
Yeah that is going to need some thought.
In the mind of an American city planner
What I was going for
Do you want the quote from the governor of Hawai'i? Because I have an awesome quote from the governor of Hawai'i in the 1960s...
Share quote.
Taken in the mass, the automobile is a noxious mechanism whose destiny in workaday urban use is to frustrate man and make dead certain that he approaches his daily occupation unhappy and inefficient.
Actually I misremembered, that was Neil Blaisdell, the mayor of Honolulu (not the governor) in 1966
Anyway, it's not a coincidence that the Great Society subway projects were started in the 1950s-1960s, or that there was a (regrettably brief) bike craze in the early 1970s with the first serious designs for bike lane networks.
Saying anything else about that would be decidedly R2 though
I don't think I can build a Subway at least on the peninsula, the Highway runs underground
There's the industry valley and then the port, any ideas for a redevelop?
upgrade each lane in one direction into a bus lane
Downgrade to a four lane, add frontage roads. The buildings will have to redevelop & be smaller, but it might help.
Hm... Alright, I'll try that
This will either fix it, or make it so much worse.
Tbf, most of the traffic was from people moving in I think
Ah, yeah, that's a common issue. Best fix is to have an alternative way into the city + busses/trains/planes to other cities.
Nice!
Since I got it, I've played CSII for 3.5 hours each day
Neat! I'd like to play more, but I've been busy.
Oh looking nice
played cs1 today, new residental area added in the north-east.
Nice!
Nice park
Maybe you could put a pocket park near one of the entrances
Oh.
Might be worth just sitting and letting the game sim for a while to unlock the perk points.
I think the problem is in me
I haven't been expanding the city (at all)
and there is no education to upgrade existing buildings
Yeah, schools wind up being a serious speed bump until you can unlock & afford them.
And you need like 50 elementary schools
The trick is to create districts and restrict each school to only handle a couple districts. That way they dont instantly fill up from students throughout the entire map.
In other words, implement neighborhood schooling instead of bussing
They still need like 50 tho
I think time to graduation is bugged on all levels of education
It's not that extreme, especially if you make use of the schools that can increase capacity through sub buildings.
Yeah, I always upgrade the schools to meet demand
traffic here is really bad though.
55% traffic score
Looking goods
