so my understanding was that "parasocial" describes an asymmetric interaction/relationship/etc that feels like a social interaction/relationship/etc to one side of it, but not to the other, typically an audience vs a performer (and this does seem to be how wikipedia describes it)
so we are clearly parasocial with neuro just as we're parasocial with every other vtuber (unless one of you has been hiding something )
but for the other vtubers like filian and matara and ellie and most of all vedal, their interactions with neuro are one-to-one conversations and other typically just-social social interactions
I assume the idea here is that people are extrapolating the negative connotation of "parasocial", that is being potentially deluded that there is a social relationship when there clearly isn't (the typical celebrity stalker mindset), into the "delusion" that repeated conversations with an AI constitute a relationship the way they would with a human.
If that is what people are doing, then I'd prefer to avoid that usage because, while there's certainly a risk of over-ascribing sentience to these AIs, there's also a risk of under-ascribing it, and I've yet to see any evidence that these other streamers are actually deluded about the AIs or that anyone is being harmed by all of this, so broadening the "parasocial" word in a way that presumes feeling an emotional connection to an AI is intrinsically delusional feels overly judgemental.

Historically, my usual go-to there, especially with AI, is consistency and continuity. If you ask the AI about a related topic in a future conversation, will it still have these opinions? Or will it give a response that implies it totally forgot it said those things or even had those opinions at all? However, ironically part of the reason Neuro-sama "works" is that... children are that inconsistent. When a biological 2 year old makes an argument for unlimited cookies, we don't take them seriously, because children don't understand the consequences of their actions and will often change their minds on a whim. So it's difficult to argue that these AIs are failing to match up to the standards of a young human child. (although this immediately implies they do still need Vedal's supervision)

The last time I looked at Hololive audition requirements it said you had to be able to stream at least 3 times a week for a minimum of 1-2 hours per stream, but clearly people do a lot more.
Ayame famously streams relatively rarely. We're lucky to see her pop up multiple times in a single week
She's gen 2, though, so may have rules she's grandfathered into or things that have been discussed with management
