I actually think some periods of silence from Gura may have been contract/terms negotiations. Girl is most subbed vtuber in the world, prints money for Cover, they likely would and have bent over backwards to keep Gura for as long as they can. It's not Gura's terms, though, which I have long thought would be the breaking point for this inevitable moment. She loves streaming, but if she has to do drastic things just to do it, Cover's gotta work with her in ways where no one wins, or lose her.
We'll likely see the blue thing come back given the tweet. Unshackled, we'll see what sort of frequency she'll have with no idol obligations or anything beyond her bread and butter

Vtubers are by their nature temporary. A lot of them you can't even expect to last that long, and 3 years for a big name is long enough to be considered a career length. Lasting longer than that is nothing short of impressive. Hololive's relatively low turnover rate is a huge anomaly in the industry and kind of lulls people into a false sense of relative permanence, which increases the shock when someone graduates

Literal years. After her first big break people thought when she came back it wouldn't be long before she graduated, and that was in like, what, late '22 or early '23?
We knew based on what she and other members said that she was struggling significantly mentally and somewhat physically and that would keep her away for weeks at a time. Every time she came back people braced for the big one but she just soldiered on, possibly for longer than she should have.
Reports from the last couple member only streams say that Gura mentioned she vastly preferred member streams because of the much smaller audience

I lucked out being a kid that only experienced DBZ and Naruto through games, so as a kid I mostly got a very manga accurate experience rather than watching the anime (even though I did catch episodes every now and then), as a teenager I was up to date with Naruto up until the Hokage Summit arc and honestly that was a perfect point for my knowledge on Naruto to stop because that's about where the show starts going downhill
It would be a lot to talk about all that plus the female characters thing, I've definitely had feelings and thoughts about it all just ruminating in my mind for years and years

Boku no Hero I never watched I somehow dodged that whole thing I never really got super into it but at least I get to see people talk about how their favourite female character did this cool thing or that cool thing or what not
with Naruto it's mostly hey remember that one time Sakura did something really cool that set her up as a very powerful and capable Sannin-level kunoichi and then she wasn't seen for the entire rest of the story until it was about Sasuke where she tried to emotionally manipulate Naruto by fake confessing her love for him?

Yeah with Sakura specifically it gets really bad, that was at the Hokage Summit arc where Sasuke by that point had fully lost his mind after Itachi's death, he sides with Akatsuki and Tobi and attacked the Cloud village and tried to steal the Hachibi so everybody was looking for him to finally put him down and kill him since by then he was practically a very dangerous terrorist, Tsunade doesn't want Naruto getting involved especially since his feelings would get in the way so after not seeing Sakura for a while by that point she shows up and goes up to Naruto and fake confesses her love for him to try to get him to stop going after Sasuke
Then after that doesn't work, Sakura decides she's gonna be the one to kill Sasuke, she actually gets close to doing it but chokes when she's about to stab him in the back and can't do it and almost gets herself killed, then she's pretty much out of focus for the entire rest of the story until the war arc where for most of it she's just there on a support role healing injured people right until the last stretch where she gets a pretty cool upgrade and finally gets the same jutsu Tsunade has where she gets that mark on her forehead, Kishimoto makes it a big thing where she says she's finally caught up to Naruto and Sasuke and then she immediately gets tossed aside yet again and tries to do something stupid like || trying to directly attack Ten Tails Jinchuuriki Madara head-on and almost gets herself killed yet again ||
It's painful, especially if you actually like Sakura like me, everytime she's about to do something cool she either doesn't get the chance to, does something stupid, or directly doesn't show up for so much of the story you kinda forget she's supposed to be part of the main cast at all

I feel like it's just so easy to rag on EQG1 because it's so obvious what they had in mind when creating it, but even then I can't really bring myself to hate it because I still enjoy it and I still appreciate all the work that went into it even if all the people involved weren't given as much freedom as they'd be given later on and even if it's not as high quality as the other projects would be, I even think some of the EQG shorts are probably better than EQG1 but I just can't ever say I hated it

I don't think anybody's gonna argue against you if you complain about it lacking in quality at all, I just find it so easy to criticize it precisely because everybody almost universally agrees on the fact that it's significantly lower quality than not just what came after but also even FiM's writing at the time
I guess over the years I hated EQG1 so much that eventually I just kinda mellowed out on it and I just kinda appreciate all the things I did like about it and the fact that without it we wouldn't have all the good stuff they made afterwards, maybe it's just because I got more interested in following the behind the scenes stuff and knowing more about the creators so I appreciate the work they put into that first movie even if Hasbro clearly just wanted something done quick so they could sell human pony dolls
I think even at the time people wouldn't have argued with you I may be completely wrong on this but I think even Hasbro didn't really think much of it which is why they gave the creators so much freedom when they made Rainbow Rocks which is funnily why it ended up completely saving EQG but I could be completely pulling that out of my ass there
