Hololive really is pivoting toward being an idol company more purely in the music and merch space, so it would seem the door is closing on those who want to be in Hololive for the gaming and general streaming. The talents signed with UMG, the expansion of Dev_IS... The writing has been there for a while, but a lot of fans (including me) read it as "Awesome, streaming plus this" and not "This instead of streaming."

So the talents that don't do a lot of singing or never seemed that into that part of it... Brace yourselves.

What I mean is, what I think is happening is the talents streaming will now be pretty much the publicity part of it. It lets people get invested in characters, form fan bases, and is the way to engage in idol content for free. But then get super hype when new merch drops or when there are live concerts and events, 'cause that's where they'll get money.

Hololive had two whole years where this model was plain not possible so there was no choice but to be a collection of streamers that sang sometimes.
Now they can develop idols (remember, Yagoo's original vision) in the proper idol sense, which is gonna change how streams are and the talents that join or continue to be part of the group.

If the new model isn't for you, it's gonna be time to say goodbye.

Cover expects talents to go to dance and choreography lessons, vocal coaches for singing, Japanese learning presumably, etc and attend meetings for the business and practice for activities such as concerts and live events

The business workload is enough that a lot just decide to relocate to Japan if possible, and if not spend frequent amounts of time traveling

This is kinda why I never got into Hololive, it just seems like a terrible deal for the actual streamers. They have to take whatever money they make with the company and hope they can rebuild their fanbase with a new persona later.

I don't know if I'd go that far, it's a mutual agreement, it's not like Hololive is forcing them into these activities, they know what they're signing up for when they apply and go through the process of getting into Hololive, and part of Hololive has always been that it's not just a group of streamers but idols

Even the less viewed members I think probably have enough to comfortably live for a while even if they retire, so the most popular ones I bet aren't necessarily hurting for money, I also don't know the exact numbers but even if Cover does take a large portion of what they get mostly from direct donos, Cover is much bigger now than it was in 2019, and a lot of the money they make they're directly pouring it into much better infrastructure to keep doing what they doing, so I wouldn't say any of them have a bad deal or anything

Like I was saying, the pandemic stifled this type of growth that Hololive has always wanted to do, so for the time being it didn't matter if non-idol streamers got in.
Now they are unrestricted on the idol side of things and may not be able to support both ambitious idols and ambitious (or not ambitious) streamers

Water makes preparation simpler as you only need hot water and mix, and the texture is less creamy, which some people prefer.
