Finished Frontiers earlier today. It was a game, for sure. But damn, it'd be nice if the game didn't feel rushed, like so many sonic games before it. There are some things that could've worked in this game, gameplay and story wise, but falls flat half the time for me. I don't think I regret getting the game though or anything, and for things I enjoy, I do find the thrill of grinding some of the cyber space levels quite enjoyable. But I dunno... I just wish Sonic could get rid of this curse of forever being an unpolished and unfocused game franchise.

||The story ending for sure was the worst offender in regards to polish. Man, it felt like it was cobbled together quick. It could've worked, but it just didn't I feel it did.||

Also, it should be noted, Sonic Team takes quite a bit of the Twitter Takeover trivia as canon. So yes, Shadow does eat coffee beans straight with a spoon, his favorite anime is Kill La Kill, Eggman did indeed once have hair (including a man bun), Knuckles collects animal-shaped rocks, and Amy's favorite dessert is strawberry shortcake.

Although obviously stuff like "what is your favorite Sonic game?" and the like is non-canon.

Oh, and according to a previous Takeover, Eggman has an entire "Sonadow" file, and Sonic is TERRIFIED of it and Shadow is repulsed.

Also, as for the animation, I think Sonic Team might actually roll out a patch for this game at some point to fix some of the physics and graphical bugs, and if they do it would be an excellent opportunity to add that into the game.

I find Sonic images I really like then I use an eraser app to make it transparent, for the animated ones I do gif searching or just find videos and compress it to Discords resolution and change it to a gif file.

Well, in the comic where this happened, Shadow got trapped in Blaze's world while chasing Metal Sonic and ended up fighting some robot pirates in the process with Marine and Blaze's help. This particular Metal Sonic had the ability to travel between dimensions, and Marine didn't exactly know that until after she blew him the f`ck up, thus stranding Shadow in Blaze's world.

When Shadow told her off, Marine said something along the lines of "Well, it's not all bad, right?"

And this is the result:

Again, both 3DS games are a million times better in this regard, even taking some of the best tracks from Rise of Lyric and remixing them into something great.

But Shade, after getting betrayed by her boss and left behind, decides to help the heroes.

So yes, Penders using Shade and selling her as an NFT is a legitimate legal concern, and he's on the wrong side of copyright law on this one (as he almost always is anyway), and I pray that SEGA sues his ass to hell over it. Let Shade be the one to deal him a final blow, that would be poetic since her very existence is what caused him to go off the deep end.

He also was very fond of referencing Nazis and anti-Semitism in his comics and applied it to Sonic characters, which was wildly inappropriate, and stereotyped a lot of cultures in his "writing", even using certain animal types to make analogies to different cultures in offensive ways.

The moment Ian Flynn took over and fixed sooooooo much of Penders' sheer bullshit, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

I think he also defends J. K. Rowling, so that should tell you a lot...

Man, I'm reading through the Sonic Chronicles plot and lore again, and this game was wild. It had dimension-hopping, time dilation, ancient aliens, cosmic eldritch abominations/"gods", space pirates, advanced tech, entire homeworlds being destroyed and the survivors being trapped for thousands of years with no hope of rescue, wars between entire races, genocides, slavery, mind control, and so much more.

If the game wasn't so bad and bland, it would've been Sonic's darkest and meatiest story to date, even surpassing Frontiers. Hell, a sequel was planned and then scrapped.

So is Shattered Crystal just a rehash of Rise of Lyric?

Yes and no. It's sort of an alternative version of Rise of Lyric, showing a different version of events from RoL. Gone is the time travel and all the boring shit (and Eggman, though he does make a cameo as a shadowy figure on a computer screen telling Metal Sonic to attack Sonic and company), now it's just Lyric showing up in the present for unknown reasons and catching Sonic's attention by kidnapping Amy (with Sonic not knowing who Lyric is) because Amy knows where the eponymous "shattered crystal" is. The game also comes bundled with a prequel comic that shows how the events of the game started (and why Amy knows Lyric but none of the others do). Lyric also kinda-sorta dies at the end (90% likely, at least), instead of his doom being uncertain like in RoL.

It's far more coherent and less confusing than RoL, which is just one of the many reasons why people consider it better overall.

Fire & Ice, on the other hand, ditches Lyric altogether, just focusing on Eggman Vs. Sonic. It's actually linked to the show, rather than the other two games.

And the show even gives us a "sequel" episode that takes place after the events of Fire & Ice.

But yeah, for the gameplay he was more mixed about it, disliking the cyber space levels greatly while LOVING the open world segments (with some minor nitpicks here and there).

I've been hearing so much different opnions about frontiers

I've seen so many people say it's exactly the game they've been waiting for, that it's the best modern sonic, that' it's awesome
But I have also been hearing very good points about just how 'okay' Frontiers is

i've also seen the entire game myself and I feel very conflicted about it because I do like it a bit but I also believe it's pretty okay as a game

it's just interesting to me seeing how so many people disagree on this, it makes me want to know why these people think Frontiers is so fantastic

but if it means the next game will follow on this one's steps and massively improve I don't have anything to complain

Hope they'll bring back momentum in the next game, I've been seeing some mods of the game with momentum and other tweaks that look great

I was hoping that'd be a given in this game but it isn't and I was right when I noticed how slow Sonic was in the gameplay trailers and teasers, you never really get any faster than the maximum run speed which is like a light jog by Sonic standards

That said, yes, Sonic's friends were the best they've been in a long, long, loooooooooong time, but...the sad thing is, if continuity is now gonna be a thing for future games, this may actually be the last adventure they have together as one cohesive unit, and instead they'll be following their own adventures now. Which is also awesome, but it's kinda bittersweet, since these core four characters have been around since the classic days.

They are very clearly setting up future solo adventures but I never got the feeling it's their last adventure together at all

Oh yeah that made me big sad, I was thinking that maybe ||Sonic would get enclosed in cyber corruption and he will get out of with either

1. Have Sage or/and Sonics buddies jump into a heavily corrupted cyber space level to break him out while they have dialogue throughout the level.
2. Sonic breaks out of the dead corruption state and is able to move again but still has cyber corruption, then when he's at the final boss he uses the cyber space as his own temporarily and combine his super form with cyber space which could make some interesting/cool dynamics. Then once thats over, the cyber corruption completely wears off and Sonic and buddies can yoinky sploinky together.||

All these characters probably never had any solo adventures outside of Sonic, them having a moment to shine doesn't necessarily mean they're never gonna have more stuff to do together

Alright, let me rephrase: this is their last adventure together as they are now. They've all decided to strike out on their own (Knuckles wants to see the world, Amy wants to travel and care for people, and Tails wants to do some soul-searching), so when they eventually (inevitably) do come together again, they'll be changed somewhat.

||The post credit scene if you beat the game on hard mode seems like it could potentially be the gateway to Sonic Adventure 3. The ending had a ominous vibe to it, with Eggman reviving Sage but theres no way they will revive a character right away after killing them. The End(The final boss) talks about how they can reincarnate themselves as any form and anything + you can't get rid of them. So maybe Dr.Eggman accidentally brought back The End with Sage. That may or may not be the Sage that was alive a few moments ago in the end of the game. Adventure 3 can be characters trying to truly finish off The End and Eggman coming to terms that he has to let his daughter go.||

1. GUN was mentioned in Frontiers in one of the Egg memos, so they haven't forgotten them. Heck, GUN helicopters and tanks were some of the threats that Sage defended Eggman from.

2. GUN really only mistook Shadow for Sonic one time. After that, they were specifically targeting Shadow because of the whole Black Arms situation, and because the Commander had beef with Shadow.

And honestly, I can understand their confusion. They're both super fast hedgehogs, they have similar spines and shoes, and they can both use Chaos Emeralds. Not only that, Shadow was photographed at night, and blue is very dark at night, so they could've easily mistaken Sonic for Shadow and vice versa.

Mistaking Silver for Sonic and vice versa, however, has no excuse. Elise is just an idiot.

Alright, so to answer Cap's question: he is naturally fast, but his shoes are specifically designed to produce zero friction by hovering just slightly over the ground (by a fraction of an inch), so he can "skate" over any ground, and thus accelerate even faster. Furthermore, the rings he wears on his gloves and shoes actually inhibit both his power and speed, and when he takes them off, he can move and fight exponentially faster.

And now for Nire's question: no, he is not a clone of Sonic. Rather, he is the "Ultimate Life Form", created by Dr. Gerald Robotnik (Eggman's grandfather) and an alien warlord named Black Doom (leader of the Black Arms). Shadow was created as a means to cure Gerald's granddaughter Maria from an incurable disease, and also to bring hope and peace to Earth. Secretly, however, Black Doom double-crossed Gerald by also designing Shadow to be a weapon of mass destruction used in Black Doom's conquest of Earth. Gerald naturally double-double-crossed Black Doom in return by giving Shadow the free will to choose his destiny (which Shadow did, choosing to completely annihilate both Black Doom and the entire Black Arms race).

In general, Sonic and Shadow are both comparably equal in speed, and it also should be noted that while Shadow's inhibitor rings increase his speed and power, he also burns through his energy at a muuuuuch faster rate, to the point of actually weakening him at longer intervals, so Sonic would eventually gain the upper hand.

Also also, according to a canon line in Sonic Colors DS (which I played extensively as a kid) from E-123 Omega, Shadow's own teammate, Sonic can theoretically reach lightspeed even before going super.

And Super Sonic can not only surpass lightspeed, he can do so exponentially, as long as he has the ring energy available.

Actually...yes and no on the "no friction" part. In the Archie Comics Tails created Sonic's shoes, and made it so they were as frictionless as possible (while still adhering to the laws of physics and nature), so Sonic can still go incredibly fast.

However, the Archie Comics are also non-canon now thanks to He Who Shall NOT Be Named.

However, the latest Twitter Takeover revealed that Tails has indeed upgraded the types of clothing and/or gear Sonic and the gang wear (in this case their gloves), so it's possible he still updated the shoes too.

And much more.

And somehow all safely within Sega's ridiculously strict guidelines.

Archie is sort of a mixed bag. There's a lot of good stuff and a lot of terrible stuff

IDW is a complete continuity reboot of the comics, carrying nothing over from the Archie Comics, and is more in-line with the games.

The Archie run is completely non-canon now and...is quite honestly a mess of continuity reboots, errors, slapdash attempts at fixing/erasing the weirder parts of its run, and pain from losing soooooo many good characters. It also ended horribly, not even with a cliffhanger, it just...stopped. With no plot resolution, and no hope of recovery.

Scourge is an evil and sadistic version of Sonic from another universe, and he's the biggest king bitch of the multiverse. No, seriously, he's an absolutely magnificent, utterly outlandish and completely smug bastard and everyone loved him.

Oh MAN, I found the greatest fandub of the Sonic IDW comics ever! (At least, up to issue 29, but they're still working on the rest to stay current.) It's done by VAs that are so professional and perfectly-cast that you'd think they were born for the role of Sonic & friends. The videos are also done with pristine quality, with custom-made soundtracks and sound design for the comic.

Man, I'm watching a funny let's play of Sonic 06, and it really is a shame about this game...there is a glimmer of a decent, salvageable story in 06. There's moments of sheer brilliance, followed by immediate brain farts. There's moments of genuinely good storytelling, followed by stupidity.

If Sega were to hypothetically remake 06 using the art style they have now, with solid voice direction, with Ian Flynn rewriting the script and weeding out all the bullshit while keeping the basic plot intact, with solid open world gameplay from Frontiers, with overhauled and polished gameplay for all of the other characters, and either remixed or original versions of the music, it could actually be a good game.

It's a fan remaster.

And it's not only playable...it's good. It is VERY good.

And what's even funnier, it's made by a guy who confessed that he never even played the original.

There's graphical improvements; performance improvements; load times are cut down to 1 to 2 seconds; characters have animations, voice lines, and moves that were cut from the original game; moves that were boring/broken/slow as shit (such as Shadow's "Chaos Blast" or Silver's air dash) are completely revamped from the ground up and made actually incredible to use; homing attacks are amazing; levels go by much quicker; mach speed sections are playable, and so much more.

This is what Sonic 06 could have been.

Oh yeah, and you can go Super in the levels too

Oh yeah, Mach speed sections: you can control where you go in the air, and when you hit certain obstacles like walls, it doesn't kill you anymore, it simply knocks you back a bit so you can recover and keep going.

Also, Rouge is just broken now. She can fly/glide extremely far, and bypass practically everything. And she also has more combat options besides bombs now, she can kick and do dive attacks.

So can Tails, actually. He can use his tails to swipe at enemies instead of always using ring bombs, and he can fly for like 4 times as long without getting tired.

Silver is a acting like a sonic character, he has SPEED! He seems to have better control and can maneuver more smoothly while being fast. Also Sonic looks way better than I expected too

The super Sonic boss themes are too strong, my favorite part about them is the adaptive music for the boss phase. Where the middle of the song is(Which is the most epic part of the song)

Find your flame would really match Twilight because of the lyrics talking about "Calling your name" and "You and your friends"

In any case, the song doesn't match as well as Break Through It All.

Now for Undefeatable.

Yup, Undefeatable works, still not as well as Break Through It All, but well enough that it matches perfectly with a few actions.

The lyric "now face it, you're just an enemy" fits perfectly with Twilight blasting Tirek down into the ground and then blasting him again when he's already down.
