it tends to vary a lot depending on the job for me. some are full gauged (pally, reaper), some are all simple mode (blm, sam). monk for example has a combo, where chakra is simple mode but nadis are full mode
mostly its a "is this thing recognizable in simple mode? if not stick to full gauge. is the full gauge a mess (sorry, white mage lillies)? graphics be banished to simple mode. is this full gauge too big or can i size it down without losing the ease of readibility?"

started workin on miner yesterday, and one thing i really really like about cosmic exploration is how it forces you to engage with your craftgatherer skills differently from "normal content". i mentioned before how i enjoy the new crafter conditions (can 8.0 somehow introduce pliant into crafter skills, askin for me personally. i love pliant), and how neat it is that some quests require you to adjust your "rotation" to for example fill up large progress bar instead of quality, or how you cant get gold sometimes unless you pray to rng gods for centered-hasty touch chains. i was pleasantly surprised to find out miner similarly has some quests be about instances of gatherers boon, or how fast you collect things, instead of just "collect a lot" and "collectability ratings"

For better or worse, Stormblood FATE's are immune to Blue Mage's shenanigans. At those levels they have a very strong burst damage, but they feel to me like they may fall behind in sustained DPS.
But if it's not immune, I like to use missiles. They don't have a cooldown, which is very useful when you are spamming them.

dps wise, blu still outdo any other class in the game, its just in burst windows, and unlike the 'gimic' style ones (basically just abusing death), for actual dps you need a comparitively higher level of competency in the class vs normal dps's

Extremes are kinda supposed to be a couple of sessions deals if your whole group is pretty experienced.
Then every group is different and some have more trouble in certain fights than in others but overall this was nice
Min ilvl also changes the equation for sure as fights go on longer and mistakes are more deadly
