I am currently replaying the entire msq and will re-assess this once I’m done with SB, but

It is, and it’s not even close

In fact if my coworkers and fc mates hadn’t kept telling me about how good post-stormblood content and shadowbringers are I probably would’ve quit because of it

Stormblood is really close to great but it does stumble in a couple of key ways

It's not bad IMO, but it suffers from pacing problems, which are really noticeable coming from Heavenswards.

And the fact that they kinda botched ||Lyse arc is a big problem since she is the thread that is meant to tie together the two halves of the expansion, and if she isn't working for you the story is gonna feel disjointed which is what happened to most people||

Replaying it with an awareness of what they were trying to do and being more charitable to it did make it better when I replayed it, but it's definitely the messier of the stories among the expansions

||There is still some info you'll learn about this, but up to this point I think it's at least been strongly hintend that the Echo is not something that comes from Hydaelyn but something that some people awaken to, the theory at this point in the community, was that it's some form of creation magic, a shard of someone's power when their soul was full and capable of that the ancients could do...the reason it can awaken during the star shower, is that it awakens memories from the final days||

Essentially ||forcing the soul to remember when it was whole, and unlock some of those abilities||

A ||star shower can help someone remembering, but not everyone will seemingly at random||
