Lvl 70 was confronting the grief for lives you take, and acknowledging that being merciful is good but ultimately, you'll have to shoulder the burden of the lives you had not choice taking.
Lvl 80 was your other half telling you that you accepted these truths, and you don't need your shadows anymore, you have done processing your feelings about what you do and you are resolved to go on.
Basically cemented your morality going forward, is a good interpretation.

In the plane bits, if you angle the line stack aoe with another raid, you kill them, and sometimes people play PVP there
Since it's essentially a race at who kill his plane first, (we won)
