if you get everything to 80 you do get an ||Amaro||, which was a pretty big incentive

And probably have the quest related to them so you can turn them in and clear you log, since in HW you still get the quests tied to them, which is super annoying

SB forward the quest ends when you unlock the trial so you don't have to complete of it

I like Zurvan EX as a fight, it's kind of a crash course in untellegraphed attacks that could easily have been a solo instance in ShB or EW

but i didn't think we'd kill him as soon as he got out of prison

The mental load at the end of the day is similar

a bit of huntin log n two dungeons with my gc squad got me the exp for that odd level or two i needed for the job quests to flow nicely from one to another

my playtime today was on a shorter side. i didnt do that much, i completed level 35 paladin quest and am currently level, 38? 39? i remembered duty support is repeatable so i did that. i was kiiiinda tempted to try the leveling duty roulette, but well... i know the basics of tanking. make boss face away from party, dont spam mitigation at once, beware of red spinny. but i guess the worst part im spooked about is mob pulling. i tried pulling two groups with gc squad n in duty support, but they just murder me, yet i know tanks pull like, two or three or five on regular n then theres this wall bouncing or something like that, i havent grasped that quite yet. i can control one (1) mob group n thats as far as ive gotten without dyin

maybe if i tell any given team that im new to tanking and wanna go slow they'd agree? i dont want an angry healer or overeager bored dpses b annoyed at me tho

Ok 2 things

Remember that at lower levels you don't have all of your tanking CDs

So that might be a problem

Also healers from the GC squad don't go hard on healing you if you pull a lot, a human healer will probably try harder

Another thing, don't forget arm's leghts, it's an extremely strong mitigation cooldown

If you feel safer we can party up the next time you want to try

I can heal dps are replaceable anyway, they can get as mad as they like

Apart from that, usually, if you say "new to tanking, apologies if we go slower than you are used to" at the beginning of the dungeon most people don't mind it, especially given that you are a sprout

This is, honestly, probably the most important part.

You cannot do wall-to-wall pulls in early dungeons because of all of those reasons, and also because those early dungeons rarely had artificial walls. Or at least artificial walls that separate trash into managable chunks. But you can definitely pull a couple of packs at once. But the bots (both GC and Duty Support) just doesn't let you do the same thing that you could with random human players.

I suppose it is by design, to some degree. They still want you to want to play with actual people, despite inconveniences that come with it.

The GC and Duty support stuff best use, is afk tanking

You pull a group, spam 3 or 4 aoe, and watch netflix as the group cleans up

It's even better if you are the DPS

Since your input is not required

I mostly just play bosses when I do a trust or duty support, I do it when I am feeling, very, very lazy

But yeah, with trust it's possible to do 2 groups at once later on when you have more mitigation abilities, but it's not even that time effective since the group doesn't actually aoe

They just burn one enemy at a time

While with humans it's very good since they will actually AOE all the enemies at once

At 40 you already have access to sheltron (which is low duration but you can use it very often) and sentinel (which is a massive 30% reduction) and you will be able to go a bit harder

It's on a 5 sec recast but it uses the resource bar so you won't quite use it that often

But each pull is probably at least 2 safe uses of it

They used to balance it with different durations for invulns, with PLD being the shorter one, but they noticed it was too hard to design savage encounters around it without giving massive advantages to longer durations

Now with the last DK changes, Living Dead is fine

If you do things right you don't even need the Healer to not die now

When you pop it, it gives you a pretty decent life steal buff that you can use to self heal yourself out of the grave

This assumes that you know the rotation well enough to take advantage of it and put out enough DPS to save yourself

Also that the boss is not about to enter an invulnerability phase

But if the boss is invulnerable the Healer should definitely heal you, since it's not like they have anything else to do in the meantime

how do i handle invulnerable phases as a tank btw? halatali has that n it caught me a bit off guard so i just stayed out of boss's circle aoe (?) and lugged shields at adds keepin sure i have boss aggro on me til it became vulnerable again. but should i like. just stay put n keep personal with his front arrow

Usually bosses keep aggro between stuff like that

Just attack the adds like the rest of the group. Most bosses will return to attacking the tank after the invul phase.

In ffxiv you generate so much aggro that if you did 3 full combos and a shield lob I kind of doubt the boss would start attacking anyone else even if you didn't do anything for the rest of the fight

So you don't have to worry too much

Sorry, was working on other stuff. I tried to get into FF14 back in 20/21, I think, but didn't stick with it past the trial. I tried to load it on my PS5 when I got that, but it didn't like my account for some reason so I gave up and haven't gone back.

I don't know if PC & PS5 are completely separate accounts, or if I need to link them somehow, but I remember having trouble getting the system to recognize I was already a player.

They aren't separate accounts, but I don't know how it works and if I had to guess, it's in the most convoluted way possible.

In FFXIV navigating the site is the hardest content in the game

It's not plug and play at any rate, I think the free trial works only on the platform you activate it with

Once you buy the game, it's 2 separate services, meaning you technically need a copy on both platforms to play it back and forth

But the progress is shared, as it's the same account

Like, if I decided in the future I wanted to switch to PS5, I'd have to buy the game on PS5, activate it on my account, and from that point on I would be able to log in with my character on PS5
