They are not wonky, they are actually really neat, but it's completely different from PVE

In fact, pvp gives quite a bit of exp, so it's a really good way to lvl secondary classes

Without needing gear for them

Honestly I'm afraid of healing without the sprout icon

Just because i've run the dungeon before as tank or DPS doesn't mean I know how to heal it too

If its just about doing the story, the only bit of content you will soon have to play with other players is trials

The rest has trust

(Stormblood still doesn't but it will get there)

For healing I used to be pretty scared about it as well, the trick for me was to start with lower level dungeons, having not many skills in the bars and knowing what they did helped

Like, it's not scary to heal sastasha, the dungeon is so easy and you have like 3 buttons to hit.
It requires an heal from you each 30 seconds maybe

Also throwing a "new to healing" as the dungeon starts help to set expectation

Now I still wouldn't heal high difficulty content but I am confident to heal any normal dungeon

And in trials

If that fails there are a good number of ways to level solo in the game

I think healing is pretty easy

It's just got an extra high intimidating factor because it's healing, plus having an extra expectation layer of damage contribution

Like if someone needs a healer for literally any dungeon or low difficulty raid I'll do it without even blinking

It only gets nuts on savage raids and EX trials (and higher)

But like Gen says, do it on super low dungeons with like 4 buttons and you get decent at it pretty quickly

The next major hurdle is wall to wall pulls in any level cap dungeon. Can be challenging but it also really amps up your own skill level

And just like anything there are also tanks and DPS contributing or hindering. It sucks when a tank has bad gear or isn't using defense CDs, or if the DPS are single target on 10 monsters

If you weren't on NA I'd offer to tank for you to take some pressure off as you learn, but I am pretty sure you are from the US

I like variety once in a while, although tank will always be my home

And will always be my go-to on the rare times I go into high-end content. I'm super comfortable with tanking and applying it to higher level play as needed. It's pretty rare that I heal or DPS higher stuff unless that specific fight is easier and someone really really needs that role

You can get very powerful while in bozja areas

And even cover for other roles

The dungeons you do as part of that quests aren't limited, meaning that theorically you can get like, 48 dps in a raid

And you can use lost actions and essences to essentially tank as a dps, or heal as tank, or stuff like that

Tanking as dps is a miserable experience, while possible, so hope it doesn't happen

Once it's finished, a vendor offers replicas that you can buy of all the steps

you can make certain items as any crafting type you turn in at the appropriate NPCs, Ul'dah, The Crystarium, Radz-At-Han are where I go for such

If you are melded out as a gatherer and have gotten your folklore tomes in, the resources locked behind those scrips are worth even more

Honestly, even if you don't get deep into crafting, even by desenthytizing the stuff you get in dungeon, and selling the materials, you slowly accumulate millions

Or even easier, and doesn't require crafting, by remembering to extract materia and selling it

To change the color of the chocobo, it's not very intuitive

The site is probably right, but a thing you can't do, is to feed all the berries of one type at once, you kinda have to alternate them

Basically, the way it works, is that every berry will change a RGB value in a certain way, adding or diminishing other values

Let's say your chocobo tho, already hit the max (255) or the minimum (0) on one of the 3 colors, and your next berry is supposed to change it further in that direction
Giving it that berry will not change that value, skewing the final result

So you kinda have to alternate them

At least, if you fuck up, the final result will probably be closer towards your desired color than you started, and will require less berries to try again

Honestly, I half consider him the protagonist of the game, since your character can't necessarily have an explicit character arc because of the limited amount of thing they can say, and because they need to leave some space for player expression.

I would argue the WoL has an implicit character arc, but probably better save the conversation for when you get at the end of EW

Yeah I think FFXIV does a really good job to leave the space for you to broadly feel your character grow, without putting it into words you might disagree with.
It's not perfect, but it's pretty damn close with the medium they have

It is kind of implied that WoL indeed go through the emotional traumas that players suffer

Even that part, as you notice they don't tell you which comerades and which enemies you are remembering.
They paint a broad brush for your character and let you fill the blanks as to exactly why they are doing the things they do.

Another trick they use, is that what define your character, is how others feel about you

The 1st time it hit me, was by all the people being grateful that you ended the ||dragonsong war||
It's not about why you did it, but it's about the fact you did it, that was representative of your character in the world.

im really enjoyin myself so far like, i understand why people may feel like things are "slow" but like, i kinda like having that? it reminds me of arr which, i guess explains why i like it more than its reputation would suggest im a sucker for side missions even regularly, i try to do them alongside main quest after all. and it makes perfect sense for you havin to prove yourself given the alliance hasnt exactly been keen on helping until bein forced to. and i just, like the premise of helpin a rebellion more than i do endin a ||dragon war||. feels more down to earth. and the locations deserts are nice, soundtrack is nice. and lyse! and raubahn! and pipin! i mean what more could i want? ||papalymo bein alive i guess.... i get why him not bein there lets writers cause more emotional trauma on lyse and you but, cmon i miss him :c||

Yes, there are a few specific things they tried to do with the story that now that I'm replaying, I'm noticing more

As you noticed, yeah ||the Viceroy is a common element between the two halves||, but there are a few more things I'm curious to know if you'll pick up on as you go along

I liked the plan of ||Let's leverage Doma to give time for the Ala Mighan resistence to recover from its blow|| since it ties the two halves to each other pretty well

Like, you don't have a feeling that you are doing something completely unrelated to the previous problem

Heavenswards has crafter tribal quests, but give comparatively very little experience

so i didnt get to doma today but, the, what's the name again, castrum occident? the alliance outpost in gyr abania had this cool questline. ||you're helping a twin adler records keeper find some people the empire has written down as "wherebouts unknown" some twenty years ago. a whole village of people just, gone poof? suspicious. you investigate the nearby bittermill, have a quick run in with imperial patrol looking for an escapee, and find a man with amnesia. "he might be one of the people the empire took" you think, and take him back to the outpost. you reason the empire soldiers may have more info, so you go back n search. you manage to find one wounded soldier, and after tending to him he (quite happily, clearly an ala mhigan forced into servitude) tells you what happened; back then the imperials were testing a new chemical weapon that would kill without destroying the buildings. the test subjects? said bittermill. none survived. resounding success! but the chemical didn't get a pass from the higher ups, n the scientist behind it was to be detained. he run away though, keeping some of his research with him. when they found him later, he was of no use because the research took its price. can't remember anything anymore... the amnesiac you found before was that scientist. you secure the remaining traces of the chemical weapon, buried in the village in a small container. the scientist kept subconsciously escaping back to the village to get his research back all this time.|| i just find that really fascinating

Gonna warn you, SB dungeons are a bit harder than HWs

Not much harder, you should still be fine

But they have a reputation for being a cut above

I personally think it's where the game really started to do good dungeons (but you wont notice the difference in mechanics much since they went back and remastered most dungeons before you got to them)

The biggest problem is if you play healer or tank, a DPS has a bit less responsibility to it

In SB, if you are a tank, and pull wall to wall, and aren't at least decent, and have a healer that knows what they are doing, you are 100% going to die

oh yeah, a sidenote: three tries later i gave up on the chocobo coloring i dont know if the game maybe doesnt register some of my fruits, but i cant seem to land on the right color. so my chocobo will be blue. it does kinda go together with the uldahn barding given the flames have blue-ish uniforms?

uuuugh yeah no i dont think i can do ninja. not because id b bad at it, i thiiink its okay enough for the general content. but the lag, maaaan. the dungeon itself was fine, then we got to boss n hell started. like, i start my mundras, n it seemingly doesnt register an imput, so when i mash three buttons for water it looks like it registers the lightning? but then it sometimes applies the water effect. so what did i cast then? sometimes i go for three mundra combination, n the game plays animations of me usin say, shuriken, lightnin and water* in quick succession, which i can only assume is not actually happening

i still don't understand why it does that on ninja, but with monk chakra everything registers no problem

They adopt the name of the mother, with a letter to designate the order of birth

I generally don't like to use ingame naming conventions for my character (which is a Seeker of the Sun) but I logic it away with it being a pseudonym.

I kinda regret picking Seeker tho, because the Keepers have fangs and that's cute

At this point I'm so attached that I'm in crisis for a week when I change the hairstyle, so I don't think i can just change it

At any rate, when you see a Keeper of the moon dude, the naming convention is for example (taking a random NPC from google)

Ziuz'a Jakkya

It means Ziuz Jakka 1st son

Ziuz Jakkya is his mother and his name is basically completely that, but with an 'a added to it

His bother would be Ziuz'to Jakkya

And so on

Y'Shtola for example, is just called Shtola

The Y' is the clan name

Everyone from her clan would have that in front of their name

That said, the tribes thing seems to not go down exactly by that

A lot of NPCs with Keeper of the Moon models are clearly Seekers by name and culture, so my guess is that they gave you the two tribest, but it's more to give you options

If you have a model of the Keepers but want to roleplay as a Seeker it makes sense in world
