It hasn't been updated in 10 months though, so you might want to do some quick tests first.

But they're pretty rare
Remember, you can basically get almost every other enchantment (including the varying levels) from fishing too, plus multiples on one book, so you're basically fighting with a lot of RNG every time you fish.

yeah, Mending is really rare from fishing, like many hours of fishing for one book. (It comes naturally on bows and fishing rods found while fishing, but books are hard to get.)
if you want a whole set of mending gear, the standard approach is either to lock a villager in a room and repeatedly place/break a lectern until he offers mending, or to build a big pile of beds and lecterns next to a village and then just feed the villagers until you have like 50-60 librarians.

Huh. TIL that in the Bedrock edition of the game you can still get Nether reactor cores and glowing obsidian through the use of third-party inventory editing, and thus build with them in creative and survival worlds. That's the only way to obtain them though, unless you have them in an add-on.
Strange that they aren't removed, and also strange that Mojang hasn't decided to add them back in but give them a completely different purpose like they did for crying obsidian.

We were supposed to get all of this in 1.19, then they downgraded and backtracked on what they said, saying that them saying stuff doesn't mean it's a promise.

Birch forests were going to be beautiful, with fallen logs and lichen and toadstools. We were gonna get fireflies in swamps.

back when you had to decompile MC to mod it, my wife made an "exotic materials" mod that was meant to make biomes more interesting. Special stone that only appeared really deep (y=5 at the time, embedded in the admincrete.) Underwater archways. Giant trees (back when there weren't big trees) with special stronger wood in their heart. Dinosaur/dragon skeletons in swamps and deserts. Over time, MC main has actually added a lot of things like her designs, and often better versions. But they still haven't managed to make plain oak/birch forests even slightly interesting.

Oh, I'm still excited for the update announcements, but I have lost a lot of faith in them over the past few years. I still had faith during 1.17/1.18, but 1.19 broke that faith completely. What an absolute waste of an update. Yes, the content we got was alright, but it was so barren. It didn't deserve its name, and it didn't deserve to be released in the state it was in. I'd rather the update be delayed for another year or two and be given LOTS more content rather than be released with almost nothing.
Even 1.20, despite adding a lot of good blocks and two new wood types, had barely any hype.
At this point, only an End update can revitalize the community again after the fiascos over the past few years. Nothing else will cut it, and I think Mojang knows this.

Boats (assuming you're using blue ice) are already the fastest transportation short of teleportation
Dog armor won't save your pup from long falls or lava, so you'll still be leaving them at home

Boats are only really useful modes of transportation if you're on a flat plane of ice that you've already pre-placed, and depending on how long you're going for, it may be more worth it to just use an elytra and rockets.
Boats are the standard means of transporation in Nether hubs for this reason, because you're already making a flat plane (most of the time) for your tunnels, so you might as well add ice to the mix to create a boat highway.
When it comes to overworld self-transporation, elytras are better in every way. When you want to transport mobs, minecarts are better too.

I stand by that this was the least fun Minecraft Live I've seen. Not that it was that bad in any sense but I was expecting a lot more to be shown or talked about...
Autocrafting mixed with calibrated skulk sensors would be a fun toy to see in mapmaking...
Like set off the sensor which crafts an item using the ingredients you collected around the map or something
