Now that's an interesting idea... I think that would make the new player experience much better.

I think the best will always be having a strong social aspect while leveling and gear rarity actually meaning anything, but I believe we're past that and that's no longer possible to replicate. So I think the MSQ and follower dungeon/raid thing is a very strong modern solution.

Close to FFXIV too, funny that.

Problem is a lot of the older expansions don't have an "MSQ" thing, just random quest hubs with lore tidbits here and there.

Yeah, it's nice in a The Sims kinda way. But as with Garrisons, it's just... not something shared with the rest of the server, so it winds up being something you do in isolation.

I think a lot of people expect they're going to be showing off their creations to others, but that just won't happen.

The other part is as a crafter. Right now crafting is all about player power - the base item, upgrades, gems,potions etc etc. With player housing you can set up millions of other items for people to decorate their houses with, and make it as hard as you want to obtain the recipe because it's not tied to power, so it can be nigh impossible/1 year cooldown type of thing and if you have it, you are the person to go to to craft that

Kinda what they wanted with work orders in this xpac but you can't quite do it so uniquely with player power tied items

I usually happen upon FOTM by accident. But the last time that happened was shadow priest in early legion. I do try FOTM on alts but I don't always find them fun. Being top dps isn't going to keep me engaged as a dps player, probably because I switch to healing a lot and chill without competition.

Healing probably conditioned me to not care about that sort of thing but care about learning the class/rotation/nuisances.

Oh, actually I suppose Pres evoker counts as an accident too, maybe? It was a new spec and I just wanted to see it without looking up too much about it at first.

And fury is fun, but it really is simple. I'm strongly leaning arcane to try something hard just to see if I can learn it.

Affliction is tempting too but the hardest thing isn't the rotation, it's the getting into groups.

So a greench kill isn't 100% necessary. The quest has you loot an item in his cave and free the reindeer - which is available AFTER killing him. But it'll stay available even if you weren't there to kill him and disappear a few min later

Maybe it was one of their first projects and they spent a lot longer than others of the profession would? I have a hard time believing all the materials used for just this specific model were more than 5% of the asking price, bar maybe some expensive imported paint they couldn't get anywhere else. I read through it and it seems... fair. Not really too much new information from what they've already said in interviews or mentioned at Blizzcon though, I believe? I mean at least in terms of what to expect. The specific examples with the classes are neat though. I kind of wish they did go down the route where hero talents could lead to almost entirely new playstyles. They mentioned blademaster, and I was like... yeah that'd be awesome actually. The doubling down on going further into the fantasy of each specialization is fine but maybe a little boring? I'm not sure, but we'll have to see how it plays out when it comes out.

I thought about the whole idea with what if hero specs could lead to using new weapon types for classes that normally wouldn't have access to them and the argument against it... but... how much is that really going to affect groups, especially for content in M+ where you loot your own personal loot? In raids it doesn't really matter either because they have to be that certain hero specialization in order to roll for their specific role weapon types anyway. DK's already have specializations that allow them to go down the route of either going for one handers or two handers and fury warriors ARE HOGGING UP ALL THE TWO HANDERS AND NEVER GOING FOR ONE HANDERS.

Armor typing on the other hand, does make sense not to change up. Like having something akin to Anduin, plate as a priest...

Also, I love that they show DK's as the first example, because god DAMN they have amazing names for their hero specs. Too bad Unholy/Frost will probably end up in C to D tier again without some serious reworks.

And also, now that I think about it... Blademasters could work as a hero specialization for monks with the mirror imaging and WIND. WALKING. Their specialization could open up the door to using polearms if they can't as windwalkers already?

They need to have an agility staff legendary based on Sun Wokong's weapon. Surprised we don't have one already. Monks need love, feral too I suppose.

I think one thing they note is that they don't want hero talents to be active abilities, in general (maybe just one of the talents). As that would just end up being like another row of the normal talent tree instead of one of the hero talents that specializes your spec

It's the same thing with regular talents because the left side has many starting choices, but the right (specialized) side has only one to start with, that being a bread and butter ability, which is fine but uh... eh.

They do describe as starting with a keystone talent - so the choice isn't so much the talent that you want, but which hero talent TREE you want - since each spec has access to two

Obviously if it's a prot/dps one the choice is already made depending on your role but they aren't gonna add multiple new trees per spec

Lower realms typically the price is much higher but the sell rate is extremely slow but I might be able to find a middle ground where it sells relatively quickly for 300k.

I thought of something they could do in TWW for alts if they keep the crest system. You know those achievements we get for maxing out our gear with each crest type? What if they kept those achievements moving forward and for each achievement we get we unlock free upgrades for the crests prior to the achievements. For instance: on your main you finish upgrading everything with drake crests and you get the achievement, now on alts whelpling crest upgrades are free, and that progresses for each achievement up through wyrm crests (that does mean in order to get free wyrm crest upgrades you'll need a new achievement you unlock for fully maxing out aspect crests). Now, what are alts going to spend excess whelpling/drake/wyrm crests on if the crest upgrades are free? A vendor with armor/weapons/trinkets from the current season's dungeon pool. Each crest type can buy the same armor, just at lower item level brackets. As for flightstones? We can keep the system where upgrades are half off for flightstones on alts.

So, using the current ilvls as a model I was thinking that the max ilvl gear you could buy with crests would be up to 476 (or the end of the wyrm track), so there's still the rng aspect of getting a slightly better ilvl from +17 keys and up and the best ilvl from the vault. Most people who get their bis at 476 would be happy enough and likely wouldn't spend all day farming, those that would are mostly top-end players who spend all day playing regardless and I know Blizzard wants to keep some RNG aspects around.

Blizzard hates its hardcore, or even semi-hardcore raiders.

What's really stupid is that 489 is the max for most of the raid and then all of a sudden you can get up to 496 on a few select pieces... and 489 is something achievable just by being lucky with the great vault.

Back to retail: I am happy for a season 4 M+. I do hope we get some more revamped older dungeons for the next pool. The fated raids thing could be fine but that might need a bit of a shake up too to keep me interested in that. Lots of the 10.0 and 10.1 raid bosses I didn't particularly care about or find memorable, 10.2 bosses were much better overall.

I think Fated raids would be better if it were for older expansions, not the current one after we'd just recently done them.
