So Evokers could only get the mounts to drop from those bosses, meaning it was basically a guarantee.

I think they messed around with the ilevel scaling, that's probably the cause.

The event drops for the heirloom trinket is account bound so you don't have to grind it out on one character.

You don't have to move around lot, a zone is under attack by an element for 2 hours. You find wherever the zerg is and kill random things until the boss spawns. Repeat until the boss drops the item which seems to be a 33% chance.

Then you either wait for the zone to change elements or go to another zone.

Doesn't seem to be a long grind, maybe a few hours total.

I think if you look at sets at the transmog it only shows sets you've unlocked, but from the collections tab it shows every set in game.

It's usually raid and pvp tiers but there's a lot of exceptions these days.

Just being able to "bank" daily rewards would be amazing. Star Trek Online has something similar. There's an in-game resource that you can only "refine" so much of per day, but folks with the Lifetime subscription can just log in once a week & it'll process all 7 days worth at once.

I just went back to Draenor and hit the 24-hour limit on making the books for learning crafting recipes, which pisses me off. If I could just bank 7 days worth and do them all at once, that'd be fantastic.

Open World is shared by everyone, except the population is still too big to fit in one zone so they use sharding technology to split the base.

The exception is RP servers in older expansion, their zones are still isolated from other servers.

And if you invite someone to you group you pull them into your shard.

That can be useful if you're hunting an old rare and know someone on a RP server.

These days servers only gate who can join your guild.

I don't think WoW will ever move to one server, too much legacy code would have to be rewritten for it. It took them a free years to figure how to increase the default bag size.

Adibags is a different style one that sorts by genre of item (equipment, currency, tradeskill, etc) but it's broken atm i think

I've been using Auctionator for the AH stuff. I tried to use Auctioneer (which is what I used back in the day) but it kept giving me errors

TomTom is great for waypoint arrows.

And I'm using DeJunk to sell junk items for me, rather than clicking through. The other mod I was using broke with 10.0

Same as the Demon Hunter hate for legion, and the Death Knight hate for Wrath: everyone wants to try the new class, there's a flood of people learning how it works, and the DudeBros don't want "n00bs" in their group because they wannagofast through the dungeon, so they ban an entire class out of spite.

Why do people still hate hunters? my first time at Darkmoon Faire I was grinding Moonfang with a few other people to get the Mount (only ever got the Moon Moon pet), and I was consistently asked to dismiss my pets or disable all their abilities. I eventually stopped running Moonfang because it was rather annoying to be constantly told to stop using my pets, which is the key reason I use and like BM Hunter.

So, there's a bit to unpack there (Hi, I've played a Hunter since BC).

1. When doing group content like Moonfang, people who forget to turn off Growl can pull threat away from (shitty) tanks, leading to problems with positioning or just getting other players killed when the tank can't keep her under control. So folks get mad at any Hunter pet because they assume you forgot to turn off Growl.

2. Age-old prejudice against bad Hunters who insist on pulling things before the party is ready, or who try to tank a dungeon with their pet, or who roll Need on everything (thankfully not a problem with the newer loot systems).

Anyone know the fastest zone to do now from 50-60? I have a bunch of 50's and have been testing. Gorgrond seems pretty good but runs out of fast to do quests at around 57-58. The prepatch event doesn't seem that great unless you come at 57, are fully rested, have 6 piece heirlooms and manage to tag every mob while not in a group.

Basically zone into Draenor and do a certain set of areas with lots of Bonus Objectives as you quest.

As far as the prepatch goes, I found it's better to just focus on the big elementals. Tag as many of those as you can, since they're not limited like the small mobs, and they're worth about 2k XP each before bonuses.

BM Hunter is really, really fun and opens up a lot of options for you. However, managing a pet is complicated and it's not surprising new Hunters get into trouble because of it.

Just remember to toggle off Growl when doing group content & you should be fine. You can drag Growl to your Pet Bar so you have easy access, if you haven't already.

It's definitely a leftover meme from vanilla and bc.. vanilla especially, you had a main weapon as a stat stick (sword, staff, spear, axe... a LOT of options, hence 'everything is a hunter weapon), and then the ranged weapon (bow/crossbow/gun)

and they used mana back then and needed int, so even caster weapons weren't safe

Also, this is the best macro you can ever have as a Hunter:

If you're in a group, right-click the tank and "Set Focus". This will cause Misdirection to always move your threat to the tank. If you aren't in a group, the macro will always cast Misdirection on your pet instead.

I've never been a huge fan of Marks, it's okay. Survival sucked back in Cata/MoP, but I tried it during the prepatch and it kicks ass at lower levels. Curious to see how it works once I get that character leveled up.

Survival is a lot of fun, very mobile with the harpoon.

I haven't come across a class I didn't at least enjoy somewhat so far with the new talents. I haven't had the chance to test all the specs yet, but I've really enjoyed: enh sham, feral druid and fire mage. BM hunter seems pretty fun, I like how using barbed shot reduces beastial wrath's cd and you can get procs to use free barbed shots even though you already get 2 charges.

Also, for some reason my bars haven't been saving properly and I keep losing the profile for them, even after double checking that I saved them. I didn't have this issue yesterday or before, but all of a sudden I am now.

I've actually stopped enjoying my Balance Druid. He just gets the shit beat out of him now, damage is in the toilet. I struggled getting him up to 50 and may not go past that.

Feral is really fun, probably the most fun I've had with it since Legion. @grizzled parcel I heard about that too, but I don't have that enabled and I'm still coming across the issue randomly, hopefully it'll be patched soon. I'm also thinking it could because an addon interfering, although I'm not sure why considering I'm not using any addons that should interfere with the bars.

Also, lol outlaw rogues get a passive 30% movement on top of an extra 20% while in steath which seems silly.

Yeah, addons tend to cause lots of problems. Might be worth disabling all your addons, getting your toolbars set how you want, and then enabling them again.

I woke up early on Saturday and decided to go to Timeless Isles to grind Emperor Shaohao rep, but there were a bunch of people camped for Huolon. So I decided to wait and hit him too.

They nuked him the instant he spawned and I got nothing.

I know for the other world bosses, they take like 99% less damage for the first 5 seconds or so and then the usual "i'm like 50 levels higher than you damage" starts happening

Might not be the case for Huolon, or if it is... instacast

In some cases the time it took to tab target and cast a 2-2.5 second spell was not enough and it died before i got the tag

Some of the people on Horde side were just spamming AoE spells in the general area of his spawn, so likely he got nuked by those the instant he appeared.

Monk is absolutely insane right now. I did 50-60 on him in ~50 minutes. Every other class took an hour plus. It helps when you randomly can use 2 touch of death back-to-back on full 20k hp mobs. I even got a proc on a 40k one once.

Ret was really fast and fun too, but I've heard they're a little rough in end game content.

Also, it looks like doing the event once per character on 11 characters for the quest and boss drop for the 60 essence allows you to nearly or fully buy all the transmog items and the toy from the vendor. I also managed to fully deck out 2 characters and complete 70% on another.

You can at least learn the mechanics and there's usually going to be a level 1-10 leveling zone that is fairly good introduction to mechanics

One of the big perks of the set is they dropped the complex systems that ran over the last two expansion.

So apparently on the Dragon Isles, there are caves blocked with rock walls. Anyone with Mining can take down the wall, which will stay down for 15 minutes & everyone can go inside... but only miners can open the wall again. Anyone else is trapped... unless they notice the small golden shovel on the ground near the entrance, which will teleport you just outside.

I've been diving deep into the profession stuff. Specific professions are how you get your Tools now. Blacksmith makes several, Engie makes a couple, and I think Inscription has one.

Also, Inscription can make +1 Knowledge books for all professions.

Apparently the Underlight Angler effects work too, but that can be... less than ideal. Since one of them is Water Walking, which means you just plain die if you try to jump into water from a great height.

I play Alliance.

Group content is cross-faction but open world isn't.

But Alliance and Horde can finally share tags on npcs.

So far I'd rate the set above BfA and SLs.

oh you can buy a race change for 32 dollars. But not a class change apparently.

Class change has never been a thing.

This set will be better for alts because of the lack of systems.
