That's fair, though in my experience its MMO status did not detract from the game in any significant way.
A large amount of the game can be enjoyed solo. Questlines, exploration, C.A.M.P. construction — all of these are core parts of the game, and none of them require collaboration in any way. I have spent a majority of my playtime doing these things independently, and to me it felt almost identical to playing another Bethesda Fallout.
There are admittedly some MMO mechanics that encourage/require traditional MMO gameplay — public events on the map encouraging large portions of the server to work together on a single objective, for instance — but these features are not vital to your enjoyment of the game, and they can be ignored entirely if you desire. Some MMO features, like Daily Ops, can even be done independently if you really want to, though this is often not recommended.
TL;DR: You can largely ignore the fact that it is an MMO if you wish, so I wouldn't let its online status be a dealbreaker for you.

#1: ||5 trust points must be gained with Arcade (the specific ways to do this can be found online).||
#2: ||You must have progressed far enough into the main storyline of any faction other than the Legion. Assuming criterion #1 is met, the companion quest will trigger after completing these activities during the main quest:||
- ||Killing Mr. House during "For the Republic, Part 2" (if siding with the NCR).||
- ||Wiping out the Brotherhood of Steel and completing "The House Always Wins V" (if siding with Mr. House).||

In the FO Mod for HOI4, they are a separate "nation" and it takes a bit to remove them, given what they have.
I think under most game endings, they get over their xenophobia with time and make a ways in with supplying arms and the training for both heavy weapons and aircraft (Legion will become either another Hoover Dam or they are left alone and suffer an Island Hop strategy and die via lack of supplies from the outside).
I'd say more, but it would be speculating future FO content that will be coming.

The only safe way to move a game is to create a new Steam Library in the app on the target drive, then uninstall the game & reinstall it to the target drive (can save some download by backing up the game and then installing from the backup).

Last day of the week to finish the first Valentine's event. You can do all the challenges pretty quick. WesTek is a good place to knock out Gather Skulls (get them off the Super Mutants), most of the Microscopes (which can also be scrapped for the Scrap Fiber Optics challenge), and if you use a plasma weapon, you can turn some of them to goo for Gather Nuclear Waste.
Then you just need to kill some ghouls, and that should be all 5 tasks for this week.

Enclave Advanced; particularly its representation in New Vegas and in Fallout 2.
To me, at least, it strikes a great balance between being bulky and being light and smooth. I also feel that it does an exceptional job at presenting an aesthetic that is a combination of a post-apocalyptic nuclear wasteland survivor and a futuristic sci-fi soldier.
...that, and I appreciate being able to enter third person and watch the fan spin around when I have to walk from one end of the Vegas Strip to the other.

He was the Lone Wolf against the world/government/etc… The guy who always has some conspiracy theory going on that he has to share with the world. (The inspiration for it came from when I was at the University of Oregon, every Saturday there was a guy who stood on a corner of the campus where everyone walked by. He had a personal microphone and speaker and would just babble on and on about one government conspiracy theory or the other. The radio shack was what I imagined he would have put together if he upgraded from travel speaker to pirate radio).

Just that particular branch of the Brotherhood is (and mostly because it got its ass beat in a prolonged fight it chose).
Keep in mind that the NCR and the BoS have had long-standing issues for decades, on and off, since Shady Sands and Lost Hills first started to fight.
Other groups, when given the technological edge, have been a bit more forceful, expansionist, and "my way or the highway" in the vast majority of cases, which makes the Lyons group in 3 and the Appalachian Brotherhood (second wave) in 76 different, but both of those had elements inside it that pushed for (and ultimately) won their views.

I do wish the Legion was at least better done as an evil faction. I know their entire theme is "mockery of Rome", but I wish the Legion at least tried to be in the more spirit of Rome being an adaptive conquerer rather than "We're organized raiders in cosplay with a scholarly leader"
Imagine for a second, the Legion adapted from their enemies and adopted technology in a more utilitarian sense. Fighting the Brotherhood of Steel, or run into an Enclave Remnant squad, some of the most deadly groups in the wasteland? Why not make the centurions into power armor wielders for example, or they could wear really heavy plated armor like Lanius.
Or after their first loss of Hoover Dam, they adopted a more NCR-like warfare doctrine into their own tactics, and gave their soldiers more guns (or shields to go with their melee doctrine, but I know the engine couldn't handle that)
It would feel less like you're fighting a buncha raiders, and more like you're fighting a standing army. Or on the flip side where you wanna do an evil run, it doesn't give the implication that the evil faction you're siding with is just guys in football gear who are an absolute net loss for the wasteland due to their very raider-like doctrines.

Omg 🥲 I just realised why my backpack isn't giving the carry capacity other back packs give. I have the "small" backpack from the beginning of the game, whereas other folks have the "backpack" which you apparently get from doing The order of the Tadpole, a quest i was working on, but completely forgot about hahah. the small has HALF the carry capacity

Hold onto any mod boxes you don't want to use until the update. Scrapping them after the update will give you a chance at learning the mod, just like scrapping a weapon/armor, and give you bunch of modules as well.

Pistols are getting a huge buff in the update, and some of the Perk card changes benefit semi-auto rifles as well.

The main thing is the new Onslaught mechanic. There's two versions: one builds up stacks with each hit on targets, good for automatics. The other starts with a bunch of stacks and counts down per shot, so it starts out strong and weakens until you stop shooting so it can rebuild. That one is good for semi-automatics and single-shot weapons.

tl;dw Solar or Thorn armor has zero radiation resist, so those are good for a ghoul (though Solar's healing effect is usless as a Ghoul). Otherwise, level 40 Brotherhood armor (Standard, avoid improvements with rad resist) has low enough that you can offset the rad resistance with a Ghoul perk.

I finally managed to make my Fallout 4 character look like she was Designed. Her outfit is from CROSS Institute Expeditionary Suit, but the rest is vanilla.
For character context: I'm roleplaying a more natural feeling progression from the base characterisation of the canon Sole Survivor (Nora). She's a Charisma/Intelligence build who started out as a sheltered pacifist but weathered into a seasoned but optimistic Minutemen General.

As far as Protectrons go:
- Default gives Junk, always useful
- Raider is hilarious, might be useful for a Ghoul because he collects Chems
- Santatron is a must-have for Christmas, he gives out gifts; useless most of the rest of the year
- Nukatron collects Nuka Colas of various types, useful for certain Challenges
- Pioneer Scout collects a bunch of useful food & junk items
The good thing is, once you own those collectrons, you can pick whichever one you want to put down, go to its terminal & change what it gathers. So if you own Santatron, you can change your Raider Collectron to gather presents during Christmas.

As for important non-cosmetic items, that's mostly going to be "collectors", things that create items you can gather from.

- Caged Rabbit / Chicken Coop (Fertilizer)
- Butterfly Sanctuary / Moth Sanctuary (Acid)
- Games Cupboard (various board games, used for Challenges)

And then the Tea Machine and Coffee Maker, those are very important for VATS builds.

If after a short while you realize that being a Ghoul isn’t for you, you can become human again through your Character Screen. Please note: this is a one-way ticket back. You won’t be able to complete the questline to become a Ghoul again.
If you want a character that has already completed the “Leap of Faith” questline to become a Ghoul again, you can purchase a Ghoul Retransformation which will be available on the character screen for 1000 Atoms.
Important note, and kinda a shame you can't switch to experiment much. Guess it's better to roll a new character for it

Something just occured to me while listening one of Arcade's vehement Legion tirades on Youtube. He is very apt at deconstructing the insanity of Caesar and his Legion, and it stuck out to me.
"He's Caesar reincarnated. The NCR is the corrupt Roman senate. I wouldn't be surprised if he though the Colorado River were the new Rubicon."
Something about this line really opened my eyes to what a lot of what the Legion actually is, and what the NCR actually is in turn, which otherwise invalidates my previous criticism about the Legion, but in a good way.
Caesar and the Legion are trying to be a replication of the rise of authoritarianism in Rome, which is quite obvious. But it didn't really occur to me until now that the NCR are a pure symbolic representation of the actual "Rome" in which Caesar is trying to overthrow.
My previous idea of an ever adapting and expanding Legion, like the original Romans, doesn't make any sense. Especially when the NCR are the ones who directly mirror this trait. Most notably, their use in technology they've captured and converted is a good example. Stripped Power Armor and the use of captured Enclave vertibirds are a good example. Not even mentioning the siege of Helios One, where the NCR initially lost the battle, in which they brought the Rangers in to assist in the capture.
The NCR captures the spirit of Rome which Caesar wants, and it makes a whole lot of sense as to why he wants to destroy it. He really is quite insane, if the whole Roman LARP didn't give it away.

It's also why I feel that, no matter the outcome of Fallout New Vegas, the NCR is still going to be the dominant faction of the two majors no matter what happens. Caesar's Legion is just a glorified raider faction with a heavily outdated culture. If the mojave expedition fails, the NCR will fall back and recuperate, but they'll be back much better prepared against the Legion, especially if they go on the offensive into California.
I also would like to say, I would prefer that the NCR loses in most scenarios in order to take full advantage of that trait. I prefer the House ending myself, since you can side with the NCR for most of the game, while leaving New Vegas as a stable trading partner for them, and ensuring the loss of the mojave will cause a very possible change in the NCR's very expansionist and overly corrupt leadership, hopefully in a better direction.
Complacency will just leave the NCR in the more corrupt state that we see in-game, and even if the courier by themselves makes an enemy with them in the independent ending, it's still more likely to push them to change.

The lore bits are more additions than changes, so I don't mind them. They do seem to retcon one bit of lore, but given it's the wasteland, I wouldn't be surprised if it's just stories getting twisted as they're handed down through the generations.

Limb Damage and Crippling Changes
We are making changes to the way that enemy limbs are affected by various effects. The mods, perks, and weapons mentioned below previously had a chance to instantly cripple a target, but now they deal a percentage increase to the amount of limb damage dealt.
We expect that these changes will make most enemies easier to cripple while making limb damage more consistent and predictable. It will also result in making crippling enemies like Region Bosses more difficult requiring more focused fire.
These changes will also allow us to remove cripple immunity from many creatures and leverage limb and crippling in more engaging ways moving forward.
Basically removing % chance to cripple a limb, and adding increased limb damage to those effects.
Perk Balancing
We’re removing the Perk requirements are from crafting. Since you already need to have learned the plan, we feel that requiring you to change your Perk loadout to craft is cumbersome.

Dropboxes operated by this company allow the player character to move items between different locations. A dropbox exists within the Mojave Express building, and four more can be found throughout the Mojave Wasteland, located in Goodsprings, Novac, Freeside, and on the New Vegas Strip.

Items picked up from a dropbox are added to the player character's inventory directly, rather than merely taking them out as with a container. For large shipments, this can result in a significant number of messages addressing the individual items picked up. To avoid having to read through all these item messages, save and then immediately reload after retrieving a shipment from a dropbox.
Also unlike a container, items cannot be stored in a dropbox. Any items placed in a dropbox must be sent somewhere. The dropbox only works if more than one has been found.
It is possible to make multiple shipments to a specific dropbox, from the same or multiple locations. When these items are picked up they will be combined into one delivery.
It is safe to store items in a secondary dropbox (one that a package of items has been transferred to). The items remain until retrieved.

Just watched some of this, Rifles seem to be losing a lot of perk damage, but gaining conditional damage for range or torso targeting. I hope they buff base rifle damage because wow, that's a lot of damage disapearing lol

New challenge events are now "Mini-Seasons" (including the new Appalachian Outlaws event). There's a backpack in the Seasons menu (instead of Atomic Shop) you wear while completing challenges to get tickets.
