I think Georgia would be a great Fallout location

Interesting geological features for a neat map, like Providence Canyon, Stone Mountain, the Okefenokee swamp
Atlanta is one of the largest cities in America, with the busiest passenger airport in the world
They can add the world of Nuka cola
GTA 6 taking place partially in Georgia would allow them to ride a bit off of that hype
It's one of America's largest movie production locations
The Speedway
I could absolutely see a cult forming in the middle of nowhere around the jimmy Carter peanut statue
And with the blue ridge region they could even have a 76 expedition to build hype

So when I do Bethesda game permadeath runs, I categorize certain deaths as "bullshit deaths"
Bullshit deaths, such as clipping through faulty hotboxes and falling to your death, random damage bugs, that fucking Lexington mininuke, or being instant killed by an enemy behind a load screen, are really unfun, and, as the name implies, feel like complete BS
When I have a bullshit death in a permadeath run, I honestly just don't count it because it's BS

I wound up making a new level 20 character in F76. Wanted to try a fresh start character and maybe go for a different play theme for her.

Commando. I was shocked how well it works too, the default SPECIAL loadout gives you the ability to target limbs/head, and the Combat Rifle packs a punch. Also, you get a lot more default starting ammo than I expected, and a Hunting Rifle as a backup. I also snagged a Pipe Pistol off the body near the Vault 76 door, so I'm pretty well equipped right out of the Vault.

After the initial starting quests, Fasnacht popped, so I jumped over to do that.

Need to settle in and finish the intro quests tomorrow, then she can start actually leveling.

(It helps I already have Legendary Perks unlocked, so I can slot the one that lets me Hack & Pick Locks, and another that slowly heals Rads.)

tl;dr on the Seasons video, the latest Inside the Vault mentioned they were possibly changing the Scoreboard to be "Season"s instead.

From datamining, it looks like they may be doing this to implement a Season Pass like other games. Fallout 1st subscribers automatically get the Season Pass rewards as they unlock them, but people not subscribed can buy a Season Pass just for that Season if it has stuff they want.

Pluss, it looks like you may be able to unlock "Tickets" through normal play that let you pick specific Season Pass rewards without buying the Pass itself.

So it turns out, this version of the generators radiate power themselves, and the Fusion version can cover the entire CAMP radius. You only have to wire up items that specifically require a wired connection.

so if you only want to build fuision generators, you can get the skin for the biggest generator and just use that

Well, that depends. If your framerate is dipping too low, you can't do much but set your graphics lower or get a better card. Amusingly, if your framerates run too high, it causes other problems, so you have to edit an .ini file to limit your framerates, or use nVidia's software to set a framerate limit for the game.

You can get away with 120 FPS a second, but the closer you keep to 60, the more the engine will thank you and act as designed.

Slots are weird on the Atom shop. You have 2 by default, but buying your third slot is labeled as "Slot #1" on the shop. You can buy up to "Slot #3" (aka 5 CAMP locations) at the discount, by the look of things.

There's a cooldown limit so you can't quickly switch back to a CAMP you just switched away from. But otherwise yeah, you can easily switch to others.

I like having a couple CAMPS in regions where there's not a free fast-travel point, so I can save a few caps when I need to get to the corners of the map. But mostly I have those event builds and a water camp.

tl;dr Don't learn the plans from the event, there's a bug where learned plans will never drop again. If the event rolls a plan you already know, you just get nothing. They plan to have it fixed by April 8, and will extend the event duration past where it was supposed to end.

Also, one of the items from the event is a book on a stand that grants you an XP buff for interacting with it, very cool.

The hotfix we had tentatively planned for today will not be released due to the discovery of a technical issue. The fix is now currently planned to be included in our next patch.

Instead of extending the event past April 16 with the bug in place, Mothman Equinox will return in in May so players can obtain any duplicate plans they desire.

Stream Deck can be used to more easily start/stop macro processes and can be set to work with individual programs (like serving as a specific button in a game or a common-used program hotkey). Yes. Going over 60 FPS messes with the game, easiest way to fix it is through capping it in nVidia's settings app, otherwise you have to edit a text file in the game directory and fully uncap it.

Apparently the game is really broken on OLED Steam Decks, because it detects the 90 Hz screen and just... ignores the fact that you've set the frame rate limiter. So it cuts your FPS by half to avoid going over 60 FPS, even if you've restricted the game to 60 FPS or less. So if you did limit the frames to 60 FPS, it cuts the game to only display 30 frames per second.

Oh, and they got Steam Deck Verified by... disabling the launcher. Which is the only way to edit graphics settings in F4.

There's these giant unexplained shadows that show up and flicker as you move from spot to spot in the shelter

It's based on camera movement so you'll need to be careful in photo mode, it ain't just player movement

There's also no green border in build mode, so you can't see the barriers at all

yeah, it's vastly improved compared to launch, but it's still an interesting combination of a Fallout game combined with MMO-lite stuff

Sometimes it's great, like events and people on the server groupiing up, but sometimes it's weirdly distracting, like the battlepass and MTX shop

That all said, the game works well out of the box, and you don't need anything from the shop to have a fun time

I've gotten a lot of fun just doing quests, leveling up, and shoooting things

I've not run into as-many bugs as before, but you'll still get the occasional "clip through the floor" sort of thing happen

There's a lot of mod support for it too, (though the new patch might have made modding a little awkward atm) so you can change up the experience as you like

yeah! and sometimes you find notes/terminals with information as to what the building was for, and what the people thought. f76 has plenty of that and It's quite fun just exploring, though some areas are kinda soft-gated till you get a few levels as the enemies can be quite dangerous. Though death is not super punishing.

of the top of my head, you lose a portion of how irradiated you are, you lose some amount of Junk ( stuff with materials iirc) EDIT: You drop all junk, so if you want to use those materials for stuff, be careful to bring it back safely to CAMP.

disabled use of the mod manager and booted the game up vanilla, got through the gala entrance and now I'm in the casino

I managed to steal it all. There's one point between when you open the safe & before you trigger the attack where you can lug the gold over near the exit without being attacked. Then you do the fight, run to the exit, and grab all the gold before you get locked out.

It's not worth it, but it was fun to try.

Quality of Life Updates

• Added a new “Ammo Per Shot” stat entry to weapons

The Cremator released with a bug that made it stronger than we intended it to be due to the way damage was calculated with its explosion. Players who had certain perks and mods on it did much higher damage than intended. We’ve fixed that bug, which has decreased the damage for that specific setup, but we made multiple tweaks and changes to buff it in different ways. Now, the Damage Over Time (DoT) should be a force to be reckoned with.

its the most "playable" of them, fallout 3/nv defo feel their age and then a bit more, fallout 1&2 are completely different genres and can be painful if you're not used to the genre

4 is easier to get into, but all of them have their pros and cons.

1-2 are more top-down Tactical RPGs, with a lot of freedom to do whatever (both have time limits in ways).

3-4 are more action RPGs, 3D environments, a lot of lore in the background, and a tone change from 1/2.

NV is FO 1-2 in 3D form, with the Gamebro engine. A lot of story and choices, and enough action/gunplay to keep it fun (doesn't stop you from doing dumb/weird runs either).

76 is another option. It's a MMO and is more inline with 4 (not on dialogue; thank Todd God). It's also sub free and seeing other people around makes the world a bit more alive than static/known NPC pathing.

Do note that going in release order ups the graphics and space needed, with more focus on action and less on the roleplaying aspects. There is a place for SPECIAL in all of them and will affect what you can/can't do.

If you can deal with the Xbox 360 level graphics and some janky gameplay, New Vegas is probably the best introduction to the series. Otherwise, Fallout 4 is a good starting point, and 76 isn't bad if you keep in mind it's even more chaotic than a regular Fallout game due to the online multiplayer nature.

Everything Lunar said is accurate, each game is very different.

I would specifically avoid Fallout 3, as it can be difficult to get running on modern hardware, and the design philosophy can make it hard to find the fun bits.

Anything that isn't 4 or 76 is going to be harder to run on modern hardware these days. GOG versions might be more up to the task, but all of them will probably need patches to fixes issues both in regards to your machine and stuff in the games never fixed.

I wouldn't recommend them right off the bat, because he spoils lots of plot points.

So to fix the Cremator getting too much damage off the initial explosion, they made a change that also affects the Cryo mod explosion damage, which toned down the Cryolator and the Alien Blaster with the Cryo mod. You can't double-dip the damage now by using the Two Shot Legendary effect.

Now, the explosive damage is split between both projectiles with Two Shot, so it's a significant decrease.
