god damn, I feel like I'm finally getting back into playing games, more then just a single game for a few weeks. It took a bit but I feel like I really feel the want to play games again. It is giving me more motivation to get out of bed instead of watching yotube for hours, more motivation to finish things I gotta do so I can play a game.

Weird how games are being my motivation for getting up, but that is at least something more then before where I would get up and not even really know what for some days, just kinda be existing.

Hopefully it can lead to my motivation to do some of the bigger things I want to do as well, the kind of motivation I felt ages ago.

I'm sure I got like this all because of work. So much time spent working that I forget what I even want to do on my time off, and I end up not doing much at all.

The box form isn't the experimental part I mean, the experimental part is the mix of offering both a home console-like experience for those that just want that streamlined experience for only playing games but still allowing the versatility of a regular computer if the user so wants to use it like that, I just think it's interesting, especially if some people don't really feel like getting a PS5 or Xbox for... whatever reasons they may not want to get one and they prefer a PC but they still want that console-like experience

Just finished The Ascent. Was pretty fun.
Difficulty spikes pretty hard in some areas and can be really hard unless you have tons of HP (dump skill points in the stam stat when you start) and later on, healing abilities.
Guns are fun to play around with, upgrading them is annoying though as some of the resources are limited.
Story was pretty interesting but nothing stellar.
Worldbuilding is easily the best part of this. Very interesting to see the lore behind this area, and the work done to design everything. I'm including level design in this, all of it pretty cool.

However: quests and transportation/movement are a downside. Quest variety is pretty much just kill and or fetch quests (as expected, honestly), but you can activate some side quests that lead you to a location before you actually have access through it (from the main storyline, usually). And getting from one place to another is aaaaaaaasssssss, there's only one move speed (no sprint), there is a quick travel of sorts (public train/metro) but they are only one location per 'region', and it can be a pain in the ass to get there. There is a taxi service which you can use in a similar way, can be a bit expensive at the start until you start swimming in cash.

it's a solved problem - GoldenEye did it with no sprint key by making you run faster if you run for a while. So there's no argument about not having space for a sprint key on the controller layout

I wonder if any mods for this exist, from a quick search, there doesn't seem to be any that change gameplay

But it's still ass, there's a certain level of verticality too so you can go to the marker on the map, but you're on the wrong platform and it can make you go a long way to get to the right place

No, that's it! I went back and looked it up again. It's been a few years. There's no text or speech. You're not supposed to do anything specific. The game tries to get you to contemplate in a slow, relaxed manner

What I personally got out of it was a few minutes of thinking about what the fly is trying to do, what its plan is, and why it exists

I don't really know much about John Cage 4'33" because I have not experienced it. I was under the impression the pianist shows up, sits down, waits and leaves.

For The Plan, the game has a lot of structure than that. You have music chosen to evoke specific feelings, interactables the fly can run into, and a linear progression with a concrete goal

I guess the way I see them related is how the art of the game is in the player, not so much the game itself.
The gameplay is paper thin, the music is used as you say. The point of both the song and this game seems to be to let the listener/player fill the space created with their own sounds/views.

In the songs case, it's the background noise, internal thoughts/colours/emotions.
In this games case it seems like it's the interpretation of meaning from a vague set of art.

What I was trying to say with "the player is the noise" is that I think the player is the art piece to be experienced, even though there's art in the game, it's trying to see what you make of it

I forgot to mention here, I did end up buying an electric air duster for my computer, it was much stronger than I thought it was gonna be which was good, and it worked pretty good at getting all the dust from the hard to reach places, there was so much more dust in the backside of the case that I didn't know about I couldn't get some of the more hardened dust from the fan blades and heatsink off because I was already so nervous not to disconnect anything and having my case completely open outside that I didn't think of using q tips but next time I'll use some isopropyl alcohol and q tips for that, luckily it wasn't a whole lot
I did immediately notice that the fans were making way less noise than they were making in the days leading up to the cleanup so it seemed like a success initially, but the temperature here did go down immediately after I did that so it may have been that, now that we had a big storm and the temperatures are going back up to summer temperatures is when the real test begins, I'll have to see if I get any issues at all under load, hopefully not, otherwise it may be the thermal paste but those are supposed to last a while and mine is... 3 ish years old? which should be fine....

Minecraft idea: every time you encounter a bat, theres a 10 percent it bites you and gives you rabies.
You don't know you've been bitten. It doesnt come up and bite you with you noticing. It doesnt even actually bite you visually, but the concept is there. So basically, its canon that it bites you but in visuals its more like theres a 10 percent chance of developing rabies later every time you see a bat. Symptoms start after 7 minecraft days. Once you notice the symptoms in the game, there is nothing you can do. You can still play for multiple days, as the symptoms get worse but no that you WILL die from it, so once you notice it theres nothing you can do. However if you havent noticed symptoms yet, you can use potions to craft the cure and a potion that tells you if you have it or not (it will ket you know when you drink the potion if u have it, regardless of if symptoms started yet). If it says you have it and symptoms havent started, you can make a cure and drink it and be saved and avoid symptoms. However to make either the test ir the cure, its very difficult, time consuming, expensive etc so its really a gamble if you want to gather everything you need to make the test and cure every time you see a bat
