You start the quest by talking to Ali Morrisane, buy beer from Ali the Barman, give it to Drunken Ali, he'll tell you to talk to Ali the Operator, then go to Ali the Kebab Seller, and on the way talk to Ali the Camel Merchant, and you even talk to Ali the hag and kill Traitorous Ali
Ali the Mayor is also there.

The Recruitment Drive quest also had a change where originally a part of the quest had you defeat a knight in a duel but you can't beat him unless your player character is female, with the hint to this being the line "No MAN can defeat me" when you lose. If your character was male, you had to go to a place where you can edit your character and change them to female, and then you can win.
The quest was changed so that it is not gender based and you simply need to defeat the knight with a blunt weapon instead of a blade as I believe the line gets changed to "No blade can touch me" or something

Yeah, the game now removed gender choice, splitting it to body type and pronouns. Type A is masculine and may have facial hair and Type B is feminine and may not. Pronouns are he/him, she/her, they/them.

It’s not necessarily like the movie industry now, but if you look over the past of the film industry then you can find definite parallels at different times (Hollywood has a well-documented tendency to go all-in on blockbusters, run into a bust when it’s oversaturated, and then pull back with fewer projects and more “indie” projects before money comes back in and someone shows that blockbusters can still make money…)

tl:dr Macs don't use x86_64, they are ARM based machines now. So to run x86_64 you need Rosetta 2 which is being removed in 2027 because Apple trying to trim the fat and wants developers to make native apps.
Rosetta 2 takes a perf hit.
GOG Galaxy works but its slow and buggy under Mac (not a native app), so essentially you'd want the offline installer which takes forever to download under HTTPS.
So yeah, cool.

Yeah, the remake apparently only has a demo right now, they're still working on the rest of the game. But according to Mortismal Gaming, a youtuber I follow specializing in any kind of RPG (but especially CRPGs), it's pretty good, though it needs a bit of work to get everything stable and tweaked the right ways.
As for the original, Gothic 1 and 2 are considered great games in their own right (though Gothic 2 has some performance issues), but they didn't reach many audiences outside of Germany, which makes them rather niche. That said, they are considered classics in the ARPG genre.
Gothic 3, on the other hand...while it wasn't a complete failure, it suffered from atrocious voice acting and game-breaking glitches that made it very difficult to play, making it the unfortunate worst game in the original trilogy (though it also looks the best and arguably has the best music). And the less said about Gothic 4 (also known as Arcania), the better. That one is even worse and effectively killed the franchise until the remake of the first game was announced. The only thing Gothic 4 has going for it is its soundtrack, which is damn good.

Not exactly, though there is some gothic architecture.
Basically, there's a war going on.
You are not part of it. You are instead a criminal sent to be thrown into exile in a mining prison called "The Colony" that's been put under a magical shield: people go in, nobody comes out. It was put under the shield by the king of the land to force the prisoners inside to mine for ore to fuel his war. Problem is, the shield was only supposed to cover the prison mine, not the surrounding area, but due to a mistake in the spell, several miles of land were covered (including a fortress), so now the prisoners have rebelled against their guards and are now running the place in three separate factions in camps: the Old Camp, the New Camp, and the Swamp Camp. As such, before you're thrown in, you're given a message to deliver to one of the mages who is now trapped inside their own barrier, and upon delivery, you will be rewarded with whatever you want, even potentially freedom.
As a newcomer, you're quickly introduced to The Colony by way of a fist to the face. From there, you basically just stumble your way into becoming the savior of the world, lol.

I've been looking forward to FF Tactics too, I've always heard really good things about it but I was never huge on FF so I never looked into it but this gives me a nice excuse
But I did hear that apparently the extra content from the PSP version of the game is not gonna be included which is a pretty big bummer because I was under the impression this was gonna be pretty much the definitive way to play this
FF Tactics seems to be, just like Persona 3, one of those games where there's no ''definitive'' way to play the game, because every version of the game seems to be missing certain things from another version and so it's pretty much up to you which version you end up picking up

I do appreciate them adding the option to play the original way because I actually think a lot of these remasters of pixel games look really ugly with their upscaled smoothened out sprites, especially nowadays that AI upscaling is very much the standard way to do things basically, it almost always looks terrible but especially for PS1 games
The remasters of Front Mission recently I've seen use really really bad AI upscaling and it's pretty disappointing because they could've just used the original scanned artworks instead

I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume it's probably a case of either an english mistranslation or even the original JP versions used the word 'job' incorrectly and it just stuck as a FF exclusive term
Although I guess on a fantasy setting, it technically is your 'job' to be the party's mage, warrior, monk, etc etc, and looking into it a bit really quick it seems like there's a bit more to the whole job thing than just what class your character is so I guess a more unique term for it makes sense

FF4, 7 and 9 just have 'regular' RPG characters, they're all their own ''class'' by default and you can't really change that or make them have a radically different skill set/role in the party, and Crisis Core is just Zack, and he plays pretty much like Sora in KH so he can just sort of do a little bit of everything

I'm playing Underground Pass, Oldschool Runescape's infamously annoying quest
The quest is outright hostile to the player
In this part, you have to step on one of the tiles in the grid. If it's the wrong tile, you fall into a pit of spikes and lose 15 HP (a third to a quarter of your health at this point). And you have to map a path that consists of safe tiles unique to each player
My solution had seven correct tiles and six mistakes, which is pretty lucky, but I basically ate through all my healing food. If I was unlucky enough I would have had to spend ages waiting to heal naturally. (You heal one point per minute)

In this part, you have to know to bring a spade ahead of time so you dig this hole in the left. If you didn't bring one, you have to go out and bring one, then go all the way through the traps, expending supplies as neccessary until you reach it

Oh yes, very very much. I really think you'd enjoy it a lot. I haven't beat it yet, but the story is fantastic, the visuals are jaw dropping, and the gameplay is, I dare say, revolutionary for a turn-based rpg. I haven't enjoyed an RPG this much since UNDERTALE. It really might be my favorite RPG ever made at this point.

I didn't undervolt mine because undervolting is only really feasible on Windows, not Linux (and I dual boot)
PS: If you run Linux, you have to use the open kernel driver on Blackwell (with the NVIDIA driver), it's not optional. Many documentation pages don't mention this, so keep this in mind if you decide to install Linux at some point

MFG on the 5090 feels better (maybe because I'm pushing more frames) but I also feel like it doesn't make much of a difference anyway

pushing more helps helps a lot, you want a base framerate of at least 60 FPS, ideally more
for Portal RTX, I target ~225 FPS (the Reflex FPS cap for 240 Hz) so I set the in-game FPS limiter to 56
it's not ideal in terms of latency but good enough, this isn't a competitive shooter 😛

120 Hz vs 240 Hz is even more obvious, but if you know what to focus on, you should be able to tell in < 10 seconds if there's fast motion on the screen

some games have high base latency, it's inherent to their engine and how it's programmed
Cyberpunk and Witcher 3 are notorious for this, even if you are pushing high framerates with no framegen and have Reflex on, latency won't be amazing
NVIDIA has a PC latency marker you can enable in the overlay, you will see it's different for different games even if you lock to the same framerate and use the same Reflex settings in all games
this is another reason why FG works best when playing with a controller, where you are less sensitive to latency

I don't really know if it's the case but I wanna say until I'm convinced otherwise that both Switch emulators could've probably emulated Switch 2 games and that's why they went as hard as they did on both of them
Regardless even though it's not updated anymore Ryujinx works perfectly fine for pretty much all Switch games as far as I'm aware and in my experience in games as late as 2024 so the only real problem is just knowing where to find it, and I'm pretty sure internet archive had a version uploaded which is where people went to after it went down

For the fire feather, I had to kill the ice queen of white mountain and take her ice gloves so I can handle the bird. Once I got those, it was easy to put my weapons and armor in the bank and head to Entrana, then beat up a defenseless brd
The Heroes' guild is pretty nice to have access to. It has a captive blue dragon you can fight, some rare minerals to mine, a place where you can charge amulets of glory so they can warp you for free, and teaches you how to wield dragon battleaxes and maces
Feels like it should have more people in it though

So i finished first DKC and it was..... really solid , I really enjoyed graphics and this jugnle/untamed wilds atmosphere it has , music is amazing but a good chunk of levels felt.... filler a bit ? wait of the world is considered one of, if not the hardest level in the game. and ULTRAKILL is known for needing a high level of skill
so, i beat this level finally after hours and hours with a P-Rank, basically having a great time, big style points and clearing the whole stage in terms of enemies. on violent difficulty (harder than standard, the normal difficulty)

UMVC3 just so happens to be one of the poorest decisions if you're a beginner/trying to get into fighting games
Unless you just want to do single player content but for fighting games a lot of the appeal and most of the fun is in the multiplayer and the actual fighting against a human opponent

I want to say out of all the MVC games, Infinite is probably the most beginner friendly game, and it got a little player boost with the mod that Maximilian & co. worked on
they released an update for that game recently I don't know if it messed up the mod or if it was an actual content update but out of all MVC games, that's probably the one to go with for beginners, it's also 2v2 instead of 3v3 which may be easier to get into
