the battery is seperate for a reason on those things as they sit in boxes for months and months before sale.
also had to explain why putting the default password as part of the serial number label was a good idea instead of packaged on a card in the box becuase yeah people arnt goign to keep a little loose card if they factory reset and need the default password again

Tactics Ogre Reborn has been out for years now, and it's apparently very good.
And as for Final Fantasy Tactics, it's considered one of the greatest games of all time. That said, a remake can still screw things up, but I trust Square Enix enough to not do that. It's not like I'm buying them both immediately, I'm just whitelisting them.

the farthest I go is skimming steam reviews to see what points have a consensus and watching a few gameplay trailers, since past that it mostly depends on whether I'm in the mood for the kind of game that it is, but all of that takes ~10 minutes tops; installing the game is often slower
(and these days there really aren't any sources I'd trust to separate the "it's good but nothing special" stuff from "new all-time favorite game" stuff)

Seems like they are gearing up for release in a relatively short window, adding languages, support for achievments.
