I played Republia Times so I get to say I liked Pope before it was cool
Yeah, that's one of the major ''problems'' whenever you're in the courtroom, whenever you're exploring especially in any case that drags on for a while it's usually ''oh you didn't examine the one specific thing in this screen that you then go back and ask another character about so you just spent 20 min going around not knowing what you needed to do to progress''
I actually didnt' even notice until a streamer I watch recently played through all of Ace Attorney 1 but it's also really funny and crazy how many times witnesses and people on trial are allowed to completely alter almost every detail of their stories
''Yeah sorry judge, I fully made that up, I promise it won't happen again''
''Mmm... very well.''
(that moment when you realize the absurdity of Ace Attorney courtrooms is a social commentary on an irl judicial system that favors the prosecution
)
also i havent been spoiled at all for Obra Dinn, so honestly i should probably play it asap so i dont
i know nothing about Outer Wilds either except that there's ||a time loop i think?||
yeah, you're good for both of those
Just go in with your brain turned on and fueled up
some people prefer to keep even that aspect of Outer Wilds a spoiler because it is kinda neat to discover it organically, but it's fine, you'll learn that very quick and it's certainly not the solution to any puzzle all on its own
trying to think of other games that i wanna play that i havent been spoiled on
i spoil myself a lot
OW's probably the highest spoiler risk
Obra Dinn is one where everyone talks about the mechanics, but not really specific puzzle solutions
i see
like, the process by which you figure out that the guy on the mainsail was Bob instead of Mike is interesting, but the actual fact that it was Bob, nobody cares
The story of the obra dinn is a heckuva tale, that's for sure
true, ||all the fantasy creatures and why they're there in the first place|| is a neat story, I just mean it's not the stuff anyone normally talks about so it's comparatively less of a spoiler risk
yeah that's what im always worried about getting spoiled lol
(plus, after you do put it all together, the Obra Dinn spoilers are way simpler than the Outer Wilds spoilers)
Obra Dinn is one of those games where I would've been very mad if someone spoiled it for me because of how much of a turn it takes, and I'm cautious about even mentioning there's a twist because going into the game just expecting a regular investigative experience is the ideal situation
to be fair, I'm not sure we have a "regular" when it comes to investigating why a ghost ship is missing all the people who were supposed to be on it
especially when ||the insurance company(???) gives you magical tools to investigate it with lol||
Of course it already kind of starts off a little fantastical what with the magic watch and all, || but most of the beginning part of the investigation feels like a very grounded mystery where you uncover this mutiny and how it's all getting out of hand and it lulls you into thinking it's gonna be some sort of ''normal'' murder mystery, so you never really expect to suddenly be investigating another characters' death and out of nowhere the crew is now fighting spider crab legged monsters from the depths of hell ||
Started Cyberpunk 2077. Time to spend an hour in the character creator
oooh have fun! the character creator is pretty nice
though I went with a default, though I've not played much of the game
i went with the default female on the cover art and stuff
Eeeeeenjoy it's one of my favourite games in recent years I think
I love my V
They added a couple more customization options in recent updates, it's not that game changing but it's appreciated, I feel like for a game of this length where for my first playthrough I went way past 100 hours just by doing every single thing i could possibly do (and I STILL haven't finished the game) I definitely would spend a lot of time on the character creator just perfecting the character I'll be playing for the next couple of months of my life
I suppose I could always restart, I wasn't far in
I guess I don't really know what details I want on my character
I'm kinda happy to play and find out
I played this on PS1 when I was a kid
I didn't understand anything, I was 5. (I already knew how to read back then, I just didn't know where to go)
but I found the vibe pretty good
shopping on amerzone
One of my favourite songs is baaaack! I really missed 24 Hour Cinderella!
Buuuut....I think that Majima's face in this song is a lot less expressive if compared to the original, I hardly see a smile. 🤨

It's the first game in the season 8 finals in OoT Randomizer Standard Tournament
Broo this game is tagged with psychological horror
Why is it being released again anyway
Here's the commercial for Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing (2003)

This should have been the steam trailer
It was released on PC though? It was never a playstation game as far as I can see, only a release for PC in 2003
It wouldn't be emulating anything. All it would be doing is making sure a windows xp game runs on windows 11.
if it even does that. Some old games work fine as is in windows 11 and 10 from that time period, so it is completely possible that nothing has been changed and it is all the exact same game files from 2003
I would love to look in to whether that is the case actually. And if it is, then I hope nobody buys this because it would just mean this steam release is a very shitty cash grab
Although, your opponent does seem to move now. The version of the game I had seen before, the opponent would never move and there never was a race
I checked the developer on the steam page and the developer listed is right. Just a different publisher.
I do wonder if this is a random cash grab scam by someone not even involved with the game
i worked something out I think... It seems that there are 4 versions of big rigs. Including that steam version.
Version 1 was the original with no opponent movement
Version 2 is when they changed 'you're winner' to 'you win'
Version 3 is when they added the opponent movement (pointless as you can't loose anyway)
And the steam version seems to be a version 4 where they have opponent movement but have the old 'you're winner'
Also version 1 had one of the maps crash the game if you try to go in it
This game is extremely interesting to look in to, at least to me. When you realise there is more to it then just the single release.
The wikipedia page for the game has some interesting insight
Seems like it had a weird development where it was outsourced to a team in Ukraine.
Says that Titov believed it was in a pre alpha state
(which honestly makes sense, it does just play like a concept for a game rather then a real released game)
It does make me wonder more about the multiple versions, and why, but also who specifically, is behind the steam release for the game
https://margariteentertainment.com/?i=1
This is the steam publisher's website. Seems they bought out the rights for the game and are now re-releasing it on steam.
They claim to focus on licensing and releasing old classic games on to steam. "Old games should not be forgotten".
I can see where they are coming from, where some games aren't released on steam. But starting at big rigs makes it look like a big cash grab project. Probably just a plan to buy out old games and release them again for money.
In saying that though, they could also have good intentions too. They might be starting at big rigs for its meme status and because it probably was a very cheap game to acquire the publishing rights for. Start with something cheap to test the waters for a new company.
This part does make me think they have good intentions
I guess buying big rigs on steam could help towards supporting a new project for publishing old games on steam
Them starting with Big Rigs could also just be them getting their name out by starting off with something so ludicrous that people know their names.
Yeah totally can be, that is something I was sorta thinking too
Sorry for all the posting, just an autism moment
cmon you can do better than that
That's faster then my internet
@random steppe silksong has had its copyright updated. So a release date must be close
A release date is only close once the game is released
If the copyright year has been updated doesn’t that mean it’s ready to be released or they have more info to share?
rx7 woo
NFS got the rotary sound so right. At least to me it sounds like it. Plus the twin turbo sound.
Not necessarily
Oh right.
I wouldn't rush to conclusions yeah
Could just be an update because it was about to expire or something, at this point I am not getting out of the bed for anything except a hard release date
That said, it would be really convenient for them to time it for a release around the switch 2 release window so who knows, maybe that is a plan.
I stand by my last year assessment that if we don't know by Summer Game Fest it's probably not coming within the year.
How long has it been in development again?
HK itself came out in 2017, Silksong was originally going to be a "Hornet DLC", and the last DLC that actually did come out was Godhome on August 2018, so my understanding is that Silksong's effectively been in development since then
tl;dr ~6.5 years
what's really funny about the Silksong overhype is that maybe half of my all-time favorite metroidvanias have come out after Silksong development started... so it really makes no sense to be as hung up on this one specific sequel as some people appear to be
Hollow Knight is one of the best videogames of all time. At least five Metroidvania at the same level have come out since then and people are not nearly as excited
speaking of which, now that I'm finally taking a break from modding Nine Sols, I need to get back to playing Ender Magnolia
I still think that no metroidvanie I tried after manage to quite deliver the same level of tight gameplay that HK does while also killing it in the story department
I haven't tried Lost Crown yet tho
That one looks really good in the gameplay department
It was also developed by a company with 2.3B annual revenue and not 3 guys in a garage with a box of scraps tho
and yet it plays exactly like a top-tier indie metroidvania
I have no idea how it happened
I think overall I prefer Nine Sols combat and Hollow Knight platforming, but at this level it truly is splitting hairs
Lost Crown's definitely one I should replay at some point
or at least throw a little more time at the post-game challenges
Ender Magnolia I might even like it more than HK as far as story goes, the gameplay is very solid, it's just not HK level.
I think EM is my 2nd favourite of the genere after the honeymoon period is over.
reminded me i still need to finish B ending boss fight, got burnt out on the game so just didnt yet
TIL noelle is capable of burnout /s
oh im very susceptible to burnout, since i play in few sessions but very long ones
look i know how a lot of shit came off but all of that is genuinelhy not the intention it seems to be perceived as
only place where i think im god is brawlhalla
tbc it's totally fine, you clearly have more raw skill than most of us at a lot of these games, and sometimes that leads to amusing differences, but that's all
like if you played Nine Sols I bet you'd beat the final boss in 1-2 hours instead of my "3 days"
(I still need to try the mods that make her even harder...)
thats a relief atleast, cuz genuinely i do not mean to come off as rude or arrogant, sorry for that if i do, just hard to tell apart sometimes cuz it was an actual issue a couple years back
its been sitting on my wishlist for a good year or so now completely forgot about it
sometimes there are just too many games
there really are,im really invested in a bunch of games rn that are quite significant time sinks so its difficult to get myself playing anything else(rabi ribi, kingdom come deliverence,mh wilds, dying light 2 100%)
even within my favorite genre, whenever I look up top N games lists there's still always 1 or 2 I haven't played or haven't even heard of
that Dying Light isn't worthy of a 100% dawg don't torture yourself
litearlly only 15 achievements left and only around 4 of them that take effort i have to
(well, I didn't really enjoy Rabi-Ribi, but a lot of other people somehow do, so I wasn't about to complain about it lol)
im too far gone its my responsibility to do it now
i thought i would 100% until i got the game legally and looked at the achievements...no thanks
for comparison: I have 257.3 hours in Nine Sols, after two 100% playthroughs and multiple months of modding it
but i did do like 3 playthroughs of it now, really fun game
it has a modding scene?
the game itself is pretty new but yes there is a decent one already
I recently finished the first playable version of my randomizer for Nine Sols, which is why I'm taking a break from modding now
god i cannot even begin to imagine doing a randomizer on a metroidvania
but tbf thats borderline what my normal playthroughs of them feel like
people got Dark Souls 3 randomized
metroidvanias are usually some of the best games to randomize
everything is possible at this point
have you ever play muramasa the demon blade?
its a metroidvania platformer combat game, more leaning to the combat side but has some metroidvania elements
not sure actually if its on there,i played it on ps vita
i thought that one was a Wii exclusive
that would explain me not hearing about it
well if you have any of the consoles or can emulate them, would recomend,p fun game and absolutely gorgeous artstye
I'll keep it in mind
what are the most beautiful games you've played?
probably won't happen anytime soon since there's so many others I haven't gotten to which are just on Steam
and Wii emulation tends to be uniquely oof in my experience
the only correct answer is Okami
that's a top 5 minimum
but i think Ori and the Will of the Wisps is my favorite
yeah the Oris were the other name that came to mind for me
oof hard question, atomic heart has a nice, simple, and consistent feel in its world for a 3d game
ori both games have insane artstyles
and hunter call of the wild for realistic 3d
Gris and Blasphemous are contenders for me as well
ofc there's a lot of different kinds of beauty, but the kind the Oris have is one that works on basically everyone; e.g. the haunting ennui of Ender Lilies isn't everyone's cup of tea
oh yeah Gris was gorgeous
actually ender lillies is a good contender for artstyle, absolutely loved it
I bought Neva the moment I heard it was by the same people as Gris
rarely have i seen a game or any piece of media that nailed atmosphere as well as ender lillies did
ender magnolia was a weird one though, kinda an upgrade but in some places awkward feeling
I agree Ori has to be up there, Elden Ring has some incredible vistas, Persona 5 for the style, but I think that's something everyone gets blown away on the first Atlus game they play.
I was exposed to P3, P4 and then P5, and P5 is still the one I remember the most for its visuals so I wouldn't worry about that qualifier
Makes sense
ost wise though ender magnolia would win just cuz of this alone
They did go all out with it for sure
fucking didnt copy

P5 definitely wins the unique award of "best visual design ever in the user interface/menus that you thought always had to be boring"
Ost it's too many to count, Ender Magnolia is definitely a strong contender tho.
P5 for sure
and i still haven't tried Ender Magnolia but it looks amazing
(granted I haven't seen as much of Fantazio's menus)
EM I think would definitely find a stop in the top 10 for most beautiful games I played.
i know its a very low class exaple but like ost wise this goes so hard https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsnNpnBQ_aI

sets the mood perfectly for the upcoming match
Refatnazio menus are just as good as P5 IMO, but having played P5 already I was less struck by it being as good as it was
OST wise i don't think nobody will top what Celeste's music makes me feel
Lena put her life on it
or the OG brawlhalla theme from 2014 i think it was https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3r-CoZsgcc
I do not own Brawlhalla nor profit from this video. The music used in this video is from the game "Brawlhalla" which has been developed by Blue Mammoth Games.
OST HK is also a very strong contender
but i return more to Naganuma's work on Jet Set Radio and Future
u sure youre not just trans?
add Mick Gordon's work on DOOM and i got a solid top 5 there
haven't i showed you my only pic on a skirt
you havent actually
I stopped Celeste after Summit so I had no idea there was any trans-ness going on until the internet shoved it in my face later
im trans and played through it i still dont understand but that may be just a lack of braincells issue
I did play a lot of the games in the Trans escalation chart as well, but we did find a defeater for it the other day.
My request to the barber for my hair is "make it so I don't have to fuck with it more than 3 minutes in the morning to make it look okay" so it was established I'm definitely a guy.
careful out there, rumours say if you play celeste and fallout new vegas transness is inevitable
Madeline was confirmed trans by the devs IIRC but also Celeste is one of the colors on the trans flag
semi-serious: what other games are supposed to be in the trans pipeline
"azul celeste" is like pastel blue
Rain World I think was on there too
im only aware of fo:nv,celeste, and minecarft cuz of the bee or something idk
ok yeah Rain World's the one I did not get, why that one?
New Vegas?
IDK, Slugcat?
(prof: scroll up
)
New Vegas is also my favorite Fallout, y'all got me questioning my gender identity
oh right guilty gear strive as well
Slugcat feels transcoded but IDK why
the most trans of fighting games
maybe it's one of those things that only makes sense if you 120% the game instead of dropping it 5 hours in like I did
Strive is the one where Bridget became canonically trans right?
I did drop it 5 hours in as well
yeah
It's the aesthetic of the thing I think
...the post-apocalyptic world where everything is out to eat you?
could Undertale be there as well?
Never played Strive but the music out of that game is so fun
thats just gay
makes sense
Strive does feel like a case where the game overall isn't trans AFAIK, it just happens to contain a character who is
so Undertale is gay and ULTRAKILL is for femboys
unlike New Vegas which gets brought up here because of the pervasive roleplay elements
ultrakill is bisexual
i might be queer
"might" yeah right
I guess I'm missing where it was talked about? I can't find the mention of New Vegas trans rep
^
Yeah I saw that I just don't know what about the game is the representation
admittedly it's very missable in Celeste since it really never gets that specific about Madeline's issue in the main story, but it is all about that one character so once you're aware of the word of god it makes sense at least
soooo
idk either it just seems to be incredibly popular between trans people and a lot ive seen refer to it as a "trans game"
yeah FNV is one of the favorites on the trans community
okay let's be honest a lot of the games people bring up for trans rep are not actually representation, there's often an element of desperation/scarcity to it
(until you get to things like Celeste and even more recent indies)
kiiinda, cant say that some dont feel forced
I'm pretty sure New Vegas is there because some of the roleplay elements make it unusually easy to play characters of ambiguous or non-standard genders
it might be the ultimate trans game
but I still haven't played it myself
(and I strongly suspect my personal experience playing F:NV when I finally do try it will contain no trans-ness
)
im surprised its not like binding of isaac or something considering isaac literaly plays as both fem and masc characters
it's not nearly as straightforward and unmissable as e.g. the way Goodbye Volcano High is non-binary rep, just factually
Speaking of representation, Warframe did introduce a nonbinary character in the last update.
Flare and they go by they/them, also is an in-universe rockstar which explains the whole David Bowie asthetic they have going on.
TBOI is way too based on religion for it to be that trans-coded
gvh representation was a bit...dissapointing in some ways? like it just didnt feel like it was of any importance to the characters, they were just that cuz why not, considering the game is a visual novel id expect to see that explored to some degree atleast
(also their Warframe counterpart is absolutely broken but that's besides the point)
you must have missed a lot of optional dialogue then, I got several conversations digging into that issue
could be,i did only 1 playthrough cuz the game didnt particularly did a good job of making m wanna go through the story again
i absolutely love the game but like it just made me feel like the other choices will be same shit again if anything
I've only done the one playthrough myself, mostly because I have so much else to play, it is still tempting to try for other branches
sadly any game that allows meaningful player choice has that fundamental dilemma of what if the player chooses things that turn out to be boring for them
(I often have that problem with RPGs unless I follow a walkthrough)
its more of that the way it did respond to my choices didnt feel representitive or impactfull enough compared to what i thought i chose, good examples of doing it right would be life is strange 1,that game i'd be willing to replay just to see what the other choices offer
fair enough
I don't think I've personally replayed any of these narrative choice games, partly because everyone knows the main plot is always the same, partly because too many other games to play
actually no better thought
yeah having played through all of telltale the walking dead im aware
but the illusion of choice still matters quite a lot imo
the way the game makes you feel could be more important even than how it actually goes
in GVH when I felt there was a branch happening, I rarely was super clear on exactly what I had or had not done to trigger that branch, at the time I figured most of it was some sort of aggregate like/dislike score for each character that gets built up over time (especially since the menu heavily implies this is a thing)
and there have been other narrative choice games where it was much clearer to me which choice caused which consequence on a first playthrough, especially in games with life-and-death choices where it's something like "you brought the gun with you therefore you were able to shoot the wendigo"
I don't think either is necessarily bad since perfect clarity requires the [BOB REMEMBERED YOU SAID X YESTERDAY] style of UI and some people will find that a bit immersion-breaking
at least for me, that uncertainty in GVH felt appropriate
(?) kenny will remember this
I guess to be fully honest, I'm also still wondering why GVH resonated with me as much as it did, considering I am none of the kinds of queer they were addressing, nor did I ever want to be in a band; on paper all I have in common with them is that once upon a time I went to a high school
naomi and the ending really carried it for me,those 2 things got me ridiculously attached to the game
and 2 specific songs from the ost as well
can't argue with that, especially since ||I did get the Naomi ending||
Indiana jones and the great circle releases on PS5 on the 17TH of April
classic Doom could fit the bill here too
i mean, New Vegas has a lot of strong LGBTQ+ rep, the main things being the companions Arcade Gannon and Veronica, who are both gay
It has lgbtq+ rep but no canonical trans stuff, if I recall
I suspect tho that trans stuff would have been added if they had more time tho
and it would makes sense for canonically gay characters to have helped it get to the specifically trans reputation it has now, especially back then
Ye
Your main character can be canonically bi too
By default
I'm pretty sure that's just an accident too lol
yeaaaah, configurable sexuality is a whole other can of worms when it leads to "schrodinger's bisexuals"
but I dunno how NV romance works
Well there's a perk for flirting conversations (and extra damage) with women, and a second for men, and they're not mutually exclusive or gender specific
right, that's the specific mechanic I remember people citing a lot on this topic
Of course both came from fo3, but restricted only to the opposite gender in that game
Anyway NV is amazing go play it
someday

in the short term, my gaming goals are finishing Ender Magnolia, and by then it might be time for Flitter's April AP game to start, in which I'll probably be playing Tunic, Outer Wilds and Nine Sols randomizers
tempted to slip in Grim Fandango somewhere but we'll see how I feel when I get there
Outer Wilds can be randomised?
they called me crazy
Yes! Ixrec managed to do it
but as of Jan 2024, yes, OW has a working randomizer mod
Legend that he is
@slate star full reveal on the 26TH
I think artiks' reaction to it is still my favorite
That's awesome
but yeah for the last few years my "constructive" hobby has been randomizer mods
and I just recently got my 2nd randomizer (for Nine Sols) into a stable state
which is why I'm taking a break to focus on playing games now
like Ender Magnolia that I got halfway through some time ago
Eww, playing games? Fukken nerd
speaking of which, actually streaming Magnolia now (cc @random steppe )
Oh nice, I was watching a stream on Dune Awakening but I got boring
My dad decided to pre-order Death Stranding 2
I can't believe they made a Robo Ky DLC and added Venom as an extra free bonus
LMAO
I do love the design of ||No.7,||, that whole area is pretty interesting in general
behold the power of actually trying
Haha, congrats
ok, that will be my stopping point for today
i'm going to shit
i fucking hate zoners 😭
i am in pain
nothing about this fucker makes sense
FUCK HOW MUCH DO THE ORBS DO
That is bullshit ||BLAZING||
and only two of them hit
all 4 hitting and you're being sent to Jesus
there's even a move that hits all 4 balls at the same time but i'm bad at GG

I haven't touched Strive in months and months I don't think I've ever even played against an Elphelt and since there's been like 3 more characters
By the time I go back to playing I'll be matching against Lucy from Cyberpunk
good
Queen Dizzy is bullshit
*not mad my friend who plays Strive is a massive Dizzy simp and fucking mains her
Last time I played it was just to go into training and see what was new and that's when I found out they changed a bunch of my main's moves (ramlethal)
you could pick up her swords before if you got close to them but now they're stuck in the ground for a set time limit
I also play Ino and Testament but I don't know if they also got any changes
I used to play Giovanna but that was very early before I decided on maining Ramlethal
But to GG's credit... EVERYONE is annoying
so it just happens to be your brand of mental illness that affects who you hate /s
Axl, Millia, May, Bridget, Leo, Anji
I think those are the few characters that whenever I would play against someone who knew what they were doing I would always have a hard time and tilt immediately
and Sin, especially after he came out and everyone was playing him
haha anji, hahaaaaaa
do you like c o u n t e r s?
can you tell who else my friend played yet?
joking aside, every character is annoying, but hey, it makes every character unique too!
that's how the SSBU roster feels like to me
I feel a lot of modern fighting games fall into this, way more than older games for some reason
having a larger part of the roster that's viable competitively is probably a big reason for this
Ultimate is a masterclass in "relatively" balancing that many characters, imo
Like yeah there's wide gulfs, and some matchups are just godawful, but when you have, like, pentillions of combinations of matchups if you include up to 8 people, it's inevitable. What it does best is giving everyone something to work with and do well. Even ganondorf can excel if your opponent starts getting complacent; he struggles to hit, but he hits like a freakin truck. He can barely recover, but an opponent going for style-gimps may miss. D3 is even slower than ganon for most moves and not as powerful, but has fantastic recovery and ledgetrap options. It's all about your preferred play and what you want to play to/avoid
Unless you're a DLC character who isn't Pirahna Plant. Then you're busted to some degree already.

it's sad to see Bam's life spiral like this but I'm glad Tony has given him one more chance, no telling if a person like Bam will make good of it though
I've been seeing videos of Bam recently and he seems to be doing good, he's been back to skating pretty regularly, met back with Tony, probably what sparked him to reach out to Activision for this, I don't know if he's trying to do Bam a solid or what but regardless it shows how chill Tony is for even going out of his way to do this for him, I hope he doesn't make Tony regret it though
did I inadvertently influence that decision?
Have you been playing it or did you say you were going to at some point?
'Cause otherwise I think i've been the most vocal cheering squad for Grim Fandango 💀
I mentioned Grim Fandango in an earlier conversation about point n click adventure games
It's a game I've always heard about all the time but never really played or seen it at all and I've just kind of had it in the back of my mind to eventually get around to playing someday and never have
Probably both of us then. I often link it as a suggestion during sales, and to this day it's my favorite game of all time
my favorite point and click adventure games are Space Quest 1 and 3
i also enjoy Maniac Mansion though ive never played it
Mine is probably Scratches, but I don't know much about this genre
Asides from Grim Fandango there's a couple others I've wanted to play, like the Blade Runner one which I heard is actually pretty good, and Sam & Max
I know there's some Indiana Jones ones too
Oh hey, you know what actually? I'd put Clock Tower up there with favourite point and clicks too
I don't know if it counts but hey I'll count it
i played day of the tentacle, that was quite fun even if it suffers from the "what the hell is this solution". i have not yet played grim fandago but it is in my library (thank you mega). tangle tower counts in the genre and that one is incredible, ace attorney and professor layton are like, cousins of point n click slightly maybe? those are both great series of course. and as a kid in the webgame era, aside from earlier detective grimoire games there was this detective noir game with crabs i loved... hm, i wonder if thats enough of a description to find it?
nick bounty: a case of the crabs! oh shit theres a standalone non flash version https://pinheadgames.itch.io/nickbounty1 . oh i have to replay this at some point. i remember being stuck and scouring the comment section of a czech site i played this on (bc that was in my pre-english era) where someone painstakingly wrote a detailed walkthrough (including "click this button then that item" which was a life saver)
Ixrec did mention Tangle Tower
I think we came to the conclusion that Ace Attorney was also more of a visual novel than a ''true'' point and click adventure? It does have some of that but... it really is more of a VN with very light point and click stuff
yeah yeah. oh, and then later on there were those wacky escape from high school series of games, that was also point n click
searches riddle school, that was the exact name
great, now i miss the flash era again
did i reinstall flashpoint archive at this laptop? hmm, ill have to check after work
Selling my rx7. Never raced or drifted. Mint condition. Those panel gaps are normal. No low ballers I know what I got
Never been in a crash
it really do be like that
Also, am trying to work up to get the mx5s in NFS Heat. The NA and the ND
Selling my T-34, Mint condition, 1942 Model, Make is STZ (Stalinrad Tank Plant), tracks missing. 500,000 rubles, fixed price no low ballers ik what i got
I don't think they have any purpose in racing in the game, but they are very cool cars and I wanna drive them
what's a racing game without miatas!
They are the most tracked cars in the world after all
They are very popular yeah
Just not sure if many people drive them in need for speed. Or at least people who aren't into cars probably wouldn't
Given how NFS titles traditionally let you mod cars to pretty much any speed and power you want, at least that probably isn't an issue.
and before I really got into cars, I couldn't differentiate between a Miata and a Porsche
hmm true
I haven't modded cars too much in this game yet but it would 100% let you add a big turbo to them
Fun fact: In older NFS games like Underground, you occasionally made life easier for yourself if you went back to a slower car or took some mods off because the AI rubberbanding was so weird
I feel like NFS Heat has the same kind of thing but only in races to do with the story of the game
Yup! At least to a certain degree, almost all racing games have rubber banding, and Heat is rather hard with that too
I really do hate rubber banding in these games but I do get it. Keeps the challenge of the game feeling consistent.
finally a fitting use of 💀

oh no
oh no
Sorry to break in here like this, but
Robocraft and the studio behind it are dead!
I played very veeeery few games for long. Robocraft was a game I actually had 200-300 hours in, and now it's just...gone, never to be played again
what sort of game was Robocraft? sorry to hear the servers are goign down as well
is there an option to play it offline?
It was a multiplayer battle game where you'd build your own robot out of blocks, mechanical parts and weapons, and fight against others in several game modes.
It won't be playable offline and is already delisted.
ahh I see, RIP
I love watching TDM_Heyzeus, one of those CS Case opening streamers
The fact that his content is basically gambling but he doesn’t take gambling sponsors is both ironic and commendable
(All of his sponsors have been skin trading sites which are far more legit)
I also love him pulling up the charts to show just how much he lost in this one video lmfao
That's so strange, isnt' that just gambling and profiting off his own gambling via youtube videos?
or stream i suppose
ive watched a bunch of Dark Descent playthroughs, one Machine For Pigs, and one The Bunker
Machine For Pigs kind of sucks but the others are amazing
I decided to replay all of them
I remember Game Informer being pretty solid back when I read it
of course, a lot has changed since then, with way more games and way more people reviewing them, so I don't expect it to make much of an impact now
I JUST FOUND OUT THERES ENEMIES IN AMNESIA
how did i play the whole game last time and not realize 😭
uh... yeah, how did you get past the enemy distraction puzzles without noticing the enemies
(dark descent?)
well, you are supposed to avoid looking at them, and arguably the best one is invisible
Do they show up in normal mode? Cause i played through some parts where they are supposed to show up and haven’t seen any of them
I don't know what "normal mode" is, I don't remember modes
it's not about recognizing the specific monsters, it's that the game is full of places where if you don't notice a monster nearby you're basically guaranteed to get killed by it
OH NOPE I FOUND THEM
my favorite is the Grunts, they're just so iconic
Light manned missile Cruiser
i like how its fighter planes are just hanging underneath below
Now that you mention it.. I do want to make an airship plane carrier that carries fighters on its underbelly

Very nice!
Now where's that show they promised?
Speaking of. People speculating that tomorrow's Nintendo Direct might show Silksong. Or maybe Deltarune 3&4. Could be any number of anticipated things, really.
don't they speculate that every announcement conference?
Yes. And one of these times, they'll be right!
When is the direct?
tomorrow at 9am CST
A bit on the early side for me. I likely won't be catching most of it as it happens
I might not be out of bed in time for it
poor Vinesauce Vinny has to wake up early for this and then in 6 days has to wake up early again for the Switch 2 direct
goddammit Kojima
What?
Geller says he has no idea what Kojima's doing up there but you really don't need to get that fancy with video editing
That is true
He should have compared the Jacob Geller method with the Uri Geller method
Some of my editing timelines used to look like that....
But also to be fair Jacob Geller's videos are always long drawn out sections of pure dialogue with minimal cuts and usually minimal editing, that picture right there was Kojima editing a Death Stranding trailer
Also with the long standing passion he has for movies, I 100% belive that timeline is gonna look like that for Kojima if he's editing his life work game trailer or his son 14th birthday video.
The dude just goes in
I like his games but I give him a lot of shit at the same time
His head is definitely firmly planted up his butt and it's not going anywhere, but there are benefits to that level of self absorption, especially to creative endeavours.
It gives him a lot of courage of trying really wild shit to name one
And he kinda deserves it after being chained to a franchise for like , 15+ years
BUSTED.

LMAO
yeah wow fuck you YouTube
Dragon Quest 1 + 2 HD Remaster coming out this year (same engine as Octopath and Live a Live Remake)
Holy shit, Raidou and the Souless Army AND Patapon remasters
what the fuck Nintendo, why are you just pulling these out of nowhere
Another SoS remake
is the YouTube stream behind?
isn't SoS just Harvest Moon with the numbers filed off?
It is Harvest Moon
yeah, but it's "Not Harvest Moon", what's what I mean by numbers filed off
The titles were localized to Harvest Moon outside of Japan for quite a while until they realized that was stupid and started calling it Story of Seasons everywhere
What do you guys think, will Silksong be shown, yay or nay?
the fucking end times are here
funny we get a potion brewing game and a spellcasting game right after Prime 4
oh right, Pokemon is a thing
I don't care about much shown already, but the live chat is depressing...These people are heavily hostile today
i wouldn't read the chat honestly
Yeah
Look at this rotund boi
damn did they get a game journalist to play this?
The voice kinda annoying, but looks good
-# okay i know it's to show the concept but i wanted the low hanging fruit
???
Virtual game card??
Huh what
Hmmmm
This is unnecessarily complicated
it's a Nintendo™️ Idea™️ alright
????
this sounds like Steam family icl
Weiiiiird. But I'm sure it'll be a fine feature
LMAO nobody asked for this port at all
Well it's nice that you can port games to Switch 2
Oh god that fps
I thought it was as simple as loading your Nintendo account on a new console
did they remaster Saga 1?
I want professor layton
Good puzzle game. I might buy dis
ayyy i remember playing this on ios
i'm just waiting for the direct to end so i can wear my clown costume

Yoo, I can’t believe Silksong has a beach.
?????
Yeesh
?
This is the most Nintendo shit ever
Also, did anyone understand the DRM?
Stunning
Rn the DRM on multiple Switches is ass
Our of context, this is either the worst thing ever or the best thing ever.
I'm glad Rhythm Heaven & Tomadachi life got announced :3
For instance if you own two Switches AND two copies of the game, one of those Switches HAS to be online
the rhythm heaven one was a great announcement icl
also i need that new Metroid Prime
Even if you own 1 digital and one physical copy of the game, the main switch HAS to be offline and the secondary switch HAS to be online
Happy to see a lot of forgotten franchises get to see the light of day, happy for y'all
PS5 does something similar although the main console doesn’t have to be offline.
What this new system does is seemingly let you skip this, as long as your switch has the digital game cart on it you don’t have to deal with this stupid ass DRM
I literally own two copies of Smash Ultimate and I still need one console to go offline to use both at once
the Dragon Quest remakes/masters intrigue me, given they're like, really fucking old
So, no Silksong?
Nop.
I hope its good because I sure didn’t like a single thing they explained, it seems extremely convoluted and thought that they were removing licenses and transforming them into some sort of key files.
Lol, so Team Cherry trolled again.
We got Tomidachi, Rhythm Heaven and Prime 4 gameplay
Someone saw the “turn off airplane mode when possible” screen when I was running a tournament with my main switch as the stream switch
The moment that switch went online I heard a very loud “NOOOO” from the other side of the room because they got kicked out of the game
Ngl ANYTHING is better than the fuck ass system Nintendo has rn
We’ll see
The family sharing idea is also really neat
I hope the Switch 2 is better
Because its literally the deciding factor of me either staying on Switch or absolutely abandoning and going full Steam Deck.
Lol, the Silksong reddit is in shambles. They're giving everyone "fell for it again" awards.
What's this sharing thing?
Some sort of new license drm system
Its extremely confusing so far, involving ‘digital carts’ and being able to share said carts.
It's... marginally better than nothing.
I see
I don't buy digital games on the switch so this doesn't sound like a feature that is applicable to me
Wait! So...
you can't reuse your old physical cards in the new switch?
I don’t know
Wait what?
You can iirc, this is a way to make owning digital games simpler
lol million where did you get that idea?

Wait I know why they did this
The Switch 2 is supposed to be backwards compatible I thought
All good!
They’re expecting people to keep their Switch 1s even after they get the Switch 2
So this is their solution to fix the notoriously bad multi-switch setup they have rn
I don’t know WHY you would keep your Switch 1 bc the switch is backwards compatible but I guess people will keep them regardless
I wouldn’t keep mine for sure lmao.
Why would you get rid of it?
Obviously I'll be keeping mine. Having two consoles is convenient for many reasons.
It has a yellowed screen and drifted joycons.
So this allows people to transfer their digital games between Switch 1 and 2 without dealing with the current “one switch has to be online at all times and you can only ever play one game at once”
Like I'm intending to keep mine, even though the battery is fucked
Essentially my Switch decided to rot itself because I didn’t use it for a bit.
You can’t even play two different games if both are online because fuck you
That sucks deviant
I don't think I'm understanding this system
Same
This is a pain only weirdos with multiple switches have experienced
The video laid it all out. Did you see it?
Your account has licenses, it should just retrieve it from there.
I don’t understand why a pairing process is required, nor why I have to move data like that.
No, I'm at work
okay well it doens't matter to you, as you already said, but here is the jist
The problem is that right now the Switch doesn’t care if you have multiple licenses or even multiple physical copies of the game, if you’re on the same Nintendo account (for cloud saves) you CANNOT have both switches online at the same time. In addition, one Switch has to remain online to play the game, you can’t launch the game offline even if you have the license
I mean, that makes sense. You’re only supposed to have one Switch.
Virtual game cartridges are similar to physical cartridges. You can lend them to a family member if they are located near you in real life for up to 2 weeks. Letting someone borrow a virtual game cartridges requires internet access, but after that, both systems can be offline. The benefit is if you have multiple consoles in one household, they can borrow your virtual games now. Each game can only be lent out to one person at a time.
Okay…
Also that, this makes sharing in a family a lot easier
Aha. I see
NEW RHYTHM HEAVEN AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
The downsides are huge. It's inconvenient. Each person has to be added to your "group". You cannot lend someone a game for longer than 2 weeks. Each time, you have to go through the handing-off process again.
The upsides are "you had nothing before so at last this is something"
This also stops the problem of your friend “borrowing” your cart for 4 years (cough)
But compare this to Steam's Family Share and it's obviously shit
Hmmm
Yeah this just allows for people to borrow your digital games
Thanks for the explanation

I’m mostly focusing on the multi switch aspect because it’s been a problem plaguing me for literal years now as a tournament organizer
You can stop watching now. That's the only exciting news
virtual game cards huh ?
marvel beatemup looks neat
TOMODACHI LIFE 2 !!!!!!!!!!
NEXT YEAR ???? noooooo
i want it now
Oh my mistake. I didn't know you were like this
i love Tomodachi Life it's so fucking weird
not a game
mario movie 2 news ?
nintendo calendar app looks neat
im so excited for Tomodachi Life 2 ☃️
NEW SALAMANDER GAME LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I'm guessing that with lending out the virtual game card, it means you can't play the game while someone else has it?
And while both Switch consoles will need to be synced up via a "local connection" the first time such sharing is done, subsequent shares won't require the consoles to be in physical proximity.
Oh! That's nice
is there a list of the announced games?
thanks, looks like the MP4 update is about it for me

what a disapointing direct ngl
I'm primarily stoked for another rhythm heaven game
what a pointless one more like it when the real one is next week
also i cant belive they hyped mp4 the whole switch 1 lifecycle and the switch 2 is coming out first
well not hyped
but
still
Same story as Breath of the Wild
i think folks ahve been waiting far longer for mp4 than botw
it will probably be released for both systems as a switch 2 launch
People were waiting for Zelda Wii U ever since they showed that at the Wii U reveal
all 7 of them
tbf are people ever not waiting for the next Zelda
i guess my main issue here is that mp3 was released in 2007
while we had other m and eventually dread, folks have been waiting for mp4 for 18 years
but theres been multiple LoZ releases in that time
im excited for Tomodachi Life 2
the point was that Metroid Prime was announced for the Switch and then never came out just like Botw
i know that dev cycles are... not great sometimes, and mp4 ran into a shit ton of issues
anyway
im glad theres more info
MP4 doesn't interest me much
me seeing MP4 and thinking yall talking about the audio file format
even more technically, it’s a multimedia container format
though I don’t know of any good reason to make an audio-only mp4
but less technically, its one of the formats of all time
Ubisoft has sold their game franchises to tencent for 25% of the ownership and royalties. https://staticctf.ubisoft.com/8aefmxkxpxwl/1uPFqvuRRej3UoemTIgVLH/18f1d055777e1b39a3f79a951452b9e1/2025.03.27_-_Press_Release_vfinal.pdf
That sounds bad
So they can have some control what can happen in the games
So was the Switch 2 even revealed in this one? Or is it in the April 2nd direct?
Still at work so I haven't watched it yet
Apparently it’s after the direct.

Same devs as Shredder's Revenge too
I really enjoyed that game for as little as I played it, though I did kinda wish the game had just a little bit more depth so I could really do some crazier stuff, maybe they'll improve on that formula with this one, the roster seems way more varied too in terms of moves
I can tell they know their stuff when I see like one or two characters that I don't recognize at all and have probably never seen before

Competitive CS2 Hack v Hack is insane

The funniest part is that HvH servers use plugins to disable shit like nospread so you can’t run around at light speed 1 tapping everyone constantly
Apparently there’s a strat for cheaters to find HvH matches in valve matchmaking
Basically you have 5 cheaters, 4 turn on auto accept
If you see 7 or 8 accept instantly you’re basically guaranteed an HVH
and if not
Just quit out because if you have 5 cheaters you’re genuinely here to play HVH

A simple ladder just broke Dark Souls speedruns and thanks to the new glitch, the Prepare to Die Edition's biggest speedrun barrier was finally broken. The runner QueueKyoo etched his name in history by becoming the first to beat the game in under 20 minutes within the Any% category.
This video details the new ladder warp glitch as well as the ...
brand new DS1 speedrunning tech in the year 2025 was not what I was expecting
@static bluff Do you have any recommended videos for BAR? there's so many units hahah. I feel like i should find a online tutorial or something but I thought I'd ask if you'd been shown any good ones first
nah I suck at the game
fair fair
I know it runs better than the old SupCom does, thanks to what I assume are better game engine tech
Have you ever tried Supreme Commander?
It's very pretty for that style of game
I have not
oooh fair enough
let me get a link if you want to take a look. the main game has 3 campaigns, though the Standalone expansion is supported by the FAF folks who run their own balance updates and matchmaking servers
Supreme Commander, King of RTS so far!
It's not super optimised for modern PCs, but it works decently well AFAIK
@river veldt
according to reddit its from nintendo today app
It depends on how sexy Ganondorf is
Like are we getting the ripped Matt Mercer from TOTK or a pig
iirc they were talking about this back when the Mario movie came out, though maybe "live action" is a new detail?
live action is indeed a new detail
to me at least
last i heard illumination was doing it
I don't have much confidence either
well ill wait for trailers and actual release before making my opinion
LA Zelda isn't as egregious as, say, LA Minecraft, but eh
furries:
thats fucking funny
whats wrong with sony
sony make good movies
or at least have a slightly better track record on that
They also make good games from time to time
I don't like Sony as a company
fair
They're like a discount Samsung
i mean what company is there to like
And Samsung has its own problems lol
is sony a discount samsung? thats an odd take
Sony is a discount Samsung?
I think their quality has dropped sharply in the last decade
if anything its the other way around
Sony also stole money from my husband so they can get fucked
while true this seems unrelated to their movie-making
But maybe it'll be decent
some companies are just too big for any single opinion about them to make sense (which can easily be argued is its own problem but that gets rule 2)
as far as movie-making goes... I haven't heard of Samsung doing any of that?
laughs in zaibatsu
Lending Zelda out to an electronics company
CD-I.
and Sony made Spider-Verse, so they had something right, before we heard that they overworked all their Spider-Verse employees so uh
I was just speaking broadly about the two companies
Idk if Samsung ever made films
thats like the entire film industry
its shit, but i wouldnt put it just on sony
Samsung is mostly a phone company now, right?
indeed, there's a lot of scandals these days where I have no idea how to feel because what's the alternative
Oh goodness no
Well, electronics
part manufacturer and phones yeah
They basically own South Korea
especially good displays and ssd's
the phones are what Samsung is famous for outside of South Korea, but within South Korea they are one of the big chaebols (yes, analogous to Japan's zaibatsu) and have all the rule 2 baggage that goes along with that
All I know is that they make good phones, like mine.
East Asian economics and politics are wack
East Asian economics and politics are wack
ah, apparently Samsung is the biggest SK chaebol
the other one most of us have heard of is Hyundai at #3
They sell TV’s as well
Chaebol?
all the others don't ring a bell for me, probably not as internationally successful
Think like, a mega Corp that controls lots of things it ought to not
Ah
a Korean chaebol or a Japanese zaibatsu is a corporation, or group of interrelated corporations, typically controlled by an individual or family dynasty
Like Samsung was instrumental in turning South Korea from a dirt puddle into a modern, flourishing nation
mishima zaibatsu
I keep saying rule 2 because in both countries they're infamous for exerting, uh, undue political influence, like, way more than you see in the west
(After the Korean War, South Korea was extremely unstable politically until the 80s I think)
but this is also part of why anime has the rich ojou-sama trope; that girl is often explicitly stated to be a zaibatsu heir
(This is for history purposes and not politics)
So basically mega corp royalty?
yep
Pretty much
it's an important distinction mostly because western megacorps do, in fact, have limits (gasp) which the east asian chaebol/zaibatsu kinda do not
It could be argued the chairman (president? Idk) of Samsung wields more power than the president of the country
And that's when things get hairy and gross
what I've heard is so many SK presidents have been taken down by corruption scandals involving chaebol bribery, to the point it's basically expected of the next guy
ANYWAY
none of that informs whether Sony is capable of making a good Zelda movie
Wow we got way off topic
Still, fascinating stuff all the same
I'm not exactly optimistic, but I will wait for trailers and other info
Same
"live action" being the only thing we know is off to a bad start yeah
Like, LA FNAF was decent, and LA One Piece had an amazing start
still, live action Zelda sounds way better than live action Mario
So it can be done
I think too many people will have differing expectations on what it should/should not be
Especially since Zelda is a big franchise, with designs and tones all over the place
and there is a very wide range of potentially good Zelda movies to make, at least as wide as the games themselves
realistically though, we should expect something building on BotW/TotK after the ludicrous sales they had
Do they follow OoT? BOTW/TOTK? WW? Mash it all together? Something totally new?
I agree
It'll likely be a new continuity, similar to the Mario movie, but with loads of references.
true, I guess I figured that one goes without saying since Zelda and Mario are already franchises where it's normal for every game to just shrug at continuity and ignore whatever it didn't feel like aligning with
they arent?
Basically Zelda movie and new Godzilla VS Kong movie are slated for the same day
#announcements message
The Legend of Zelda: Donkey Kong's Revenge
"Now you die."
- King Kong, probably
holyyy shit
I love being a sociopath. :D
The Zelda movie was always live action since the announcement, which is why since the beginning so many people were absolutely baffled at the decision when animation would've been the obvious best choice
well, i can't have THAT around...

So bizarre how the dev team working on this seems so adamant on the idea that this game has to be as beginner friendly as possible and has to be able to be played by the widest audience possible but at the same time they also seem to want to appeal to hardcore fighting game players too
I don't wanna be a turbo hater already when the game isn't even out yet and I was looking forward to it because I actually really love League of Legends but I stopped playing because fuck that Vanguard stuff, but man this game just seems.... strange
I feel like there's an important qualifier missing here because this sounds like the most generic gamedev aspiration ever?
The thing is that ever since the beginning they made their intention clear that this game is supposed to be as beginner friendly as possible which is kind of a 'big deal' with fighting games because they notoriously have very low player retention and are usually very hard for your average player to get into and start playing at a decent enough level especially since they can be so competitive
For example they completely removed motion inputs from this game, so things like your Half Circle, Quarter Circle motions, etc, all in the name of being as simple as possible, but they also seem to want to have a dense and complex fighting game mechanics and systems at the same time, the exact type of thing that would be overwhelming and daunting for a new player to keep track of and learn, which seems kind of counterintuitive if your aim is to make this as simple and beginner friendly as possible
There's also some talks on the FGC about the motion inputs, specifically since they seem to have to work around the fact that they don't have them anymore by adding more buttons, which makes people think why even get rid of them anyways? Some people argue that it's way easier for people to press more buttons than it is to do motion inputs, others seem to think it's an arbitrary change just for the sake of not having traditional motion inputs
ah
TIL those are called "motion inputs"; I never got far enough in any fighting game to notice them, but I'm pretty sure I've run into a few in other games and found them super unreliable
hmm, i just watched Yahtzee's Switch 2 speculation video and he thinks that the next big Mario game is gonna be open world. so like for example basically all the worlds from Odyssey being stitched together. that could be interesting
A reliable leaker also suggests that you may be able to use a Switch 1 as a game pad with a second screen for the Switch 2
ooh
oooh wait
actually that's really cool cause i know a lot of people disliked the Mario Maker 2 having to use the joycons in console mode
what is that game
Crosscode
It's really good!
Normally he accuses you of cheating because you're level 4, but he has a different text if you're a much higher level
I remember SF6 modern controls, are they still recognized as viable competitively? It seems everyone at my local is on classic
I played SF2 on an arcade bartop last week and couldn't do a hadouken (which is weird, because I remember the pattern).
One day I'll try to learn FGs properly, but it needs time

I lost a game in bracket once because my jump button did nothing while I was doing a down throw side B combo 😢 (and I had a 9)
oof, that sucks
Just saw the until dawn trailer and i HATE IT literally has NOTHING thats in the game and some girl is pregnant????? LIKE WHAT
it's common for game trailers to not have any gameplay nowadays, it sucks but that's how it is
showing gameplay is likely seen as more risky, especially in more cinematic/story-focused games
gamers can easily be turned off by a gameplay trailer where things just don't look fun, and it can be hard to save that impression
indie games can't afford to skip the gameplay in trailers still, the vast majority of them are focused on gameplay thankfully
which gets into why I mostly don't watch trailers any more
I understand why they do that, the wider audiences for games these days are moved more by graphics and vibes and themes than by the things I care about like level design and core gameplay loops, so the latter only show up in games primarily marketed to people like me, aka indie games
yeah, it's pretty rare for me too. The last time I was hyped by a trailer was Counter-Strike 2... and I saw how it turned out in the end
(that series of trailers is a masterclass in my book, still)
people even made parodies of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_1g7_QaksY

...Blizzard is selling StarCraft? Wtf kind of timeline is this?
Either way, I hope Netmarble doesn't get it. I would hate for StarCraft to become a mobile gacha and ad-ridden hellscape.
After looking through the options, NCSoft would be my personal pick. Guild Wars 1 and 2 are great games with rich stories and great writing. A StarCraft RPG or MMORPG in that style would go hard.
Yeah first I'm learning of it
People on Reddit apparently loathe all of these companies. The general consensus is that this will be the end of StarCraft, or at least as we know it.
From the article it's very not clear what this is exactly
Like, if they are giving the rights to make games for it but keep control of the IP or if they are completely selling it off to the higher bidder
Like this part
The contract reportedly includes opportunities to expand the franchise into RPGs, shooters, and mobile adaptations. The outcome could reshape South Korea’s gaming landscape, reinforcing its influence in the global market. Blizzard has remained tight-lipped but is said to prioritize development capability, global reach, and marketing strength in selecting a partner. A decision is expected in the coming months.
Makes it sound like they are just licensing it
It's not clear, yeah. Ideally Blizzard wouldn't make this deal at all and would instead get their collective heads out of their asses and start actually making good games and being a good company again.
I mean, if they aren't making games for it,. I don't necessarily see anything too horrible with licensing it to someone else to make games for it, assuming they license it to someone worthwhile
That's why I added the "making good games" part. It wasn't just a dig at OW2 and (to a lesser extent) Diablo 4.
I know that 99% this is gonna result in some iditiotic mobile game, so probably gonna ignore it at the end of the day
it'll be a gacha game 100 percent
even warhammer went that route for its main mobile game
And that's an IP killer for most fans of any IP. Only the most hardcore consumers and most basic and fair-weather of casual players will play it, and they sadly outnumber the actual fans when combined.
If this was like, 5 years ago, I could definitely see a clans royale stule game with the SC IP that could work pretty well.
I think we are past that nowdays tho.
Define IP killer
Because the IP is currently dead
I don't think you can kill it harder
Well, it's still popular in South Korea, where all four of these companies originate.
Dead everywhere else though, you're right.
But I meant it more in a general sense, not just for Starcraft
I think that the most likely scenario is that something pretty bad comes out, it has a minor blip in SK for like, a week, somehow it makes a billion dollars from people that never played starcraft and no one else ever remembers it exists
I remember when the Torchlight IP went mobile. That killed it for good, even more than Torchlight 3 did.
Granted, it was a small IP, but maaaaan, Torchlight 2 was PEAK. And then they just...killed that IP's future entirely.
The best case scenario is competent mobile clash royale style strategy game, or maybe even simplified starcraft, similar as to how Wild Rift is Simplified League of Legends, it has some staying power and somehow tricks Blizzard into thinking Strategy Games can sell well and they make the mistake of making Starcraft 3 off the back of it
It underperforms, predictibly, but at least we get it
I remember the C&C and Commander Keen mobile games
both felt particularly out of touch visually and from a business model standpoint
oh, and Mighty Doom which lasted like 2 years or something
Game
@random steppe more EM btw
#EnderMagnolia: 2nd day trying to beat Luiseach (1st after taking a break), barely managed it on 5th(?) try
nice work
i think you have a primary that i didnt
good shit though, shes an absolute bastard to fight in the 2nd half of the fight especially
apparently I spent all my skill for the week on that fight because on Declan I was waffling between getting him down to 10% and dying on the first two attacks
Tiny thing I'm enjoying about Cyberpunk: it allows me to choose to be sober in-game. Maximum immersion
Since all the alcoholic drinks in Cyberpunk are nothing but debuffs everytime I don't even remember if I ever tried actually drinking any so I'm not sure if they even do anything other than the debuffs
the funny thing is I also made sure to pick up every single drink I came across so I probably have dozens in my inventory
Fallout New Vegas alcohol i think gives you plus charisma but minus intelligence
I do kinda wish there was a traits system in 2077, so you could roleplay more as a drunkard or teetotal, that kind of thing
Trails:
Deus Ex is weird on this aspect: alcohol gives you dizziness, but it also heals 2 HP for every drink, and you can stack the effect infinitely
so you're free to drink 20 beers in one go, wait 1 minute for the dizziness to pass to regain 40 HP
the FOV becomes so low with high dizziness it's unplayable, so all you can do is wait it out
