Devs keep bitching about metal while they use DirectX because market share.
And some don’t like Vulkan.
I think most devs are letting an engine deal with the rendering backend these days
You just can’t win.
Yeah at this point its either Unity, Unreal, or Godot.
Very rarely a game needs a custom engine.
And its so funny because even with the tools those engines provide for multiple platform development, ITS STILL an afterthought.
mm-hmm, since you still need to own the platform to test it
So its still the ‘either they do or they dont’
Like a console, like a PC.
Its not like a person gets a free pc as like Macs.
“But I gotta buy a Mac!” Dear dev, you bought a gaming pc rig with 4090 and are complaining about getting a Mac Mini for bare minimum deployment.
(Of course this is a oversimplification)
I’m sure each case is different.
@gaunt marten (and any other old school RPG fans IG) have you heard of this FFI fangames called Final Fantasy Renaissance?
It's like the OG FFI but like, with new jobs and such https://rengames.us/ffr.html
(i've seen Flitter lavish praise on Crystal Project before so that's why i specifically pinged them
)
if we're talking one guy on their own, buying another machine is significant, if we're talking a small indie team with still a little bit of actual budgets and management, we're talking paying for all the dev time to support mac-specific issues as mentioned above
Yeah, seems neat but I haven't played it
though at this point I'm not sure what's even being advocated for
if it's just "more devs should support mac", then the answer is "empirically speaking, not really, they're not doing it because it's never trivial, and there's more valuable stuff they can do with their limited resources" and that's not going to change unless Apple decides they want to do the work to change it
with the pixel remasters even being kind of out of my league it's not for me, but i thought it looked like something worth reccing
At this point I don’t even expect anything for any platform.
Even Windows.
Why is it kind of out of your league?
Like I've tried FFIII and FFIV and I just can't really bring myself to play them, it's all a bit too old-school and vague for my brain, I can't really focus

this looks interesting, Vampire Survivors meets Doom
What's next, Vampire Killer?

Thanks, Discord
Is Shenmue 3 any good?
I used to watch my aunt play 1 and it seemed neat for the time. The dreamcast was pretty impressive
Vulkan doesn't work that well on Windows, especially on Intel IGPs. It's better if presented via DXGI but still not ideal (all AAAs do this)
it works better than OpenGL, but still worse than D3D
is this a fundamental thing or "just" because Vulkan is newer?
it's a fundamental issue, Vulkan does not have a way to do low-latency presentation without using the same presentation system used by D3D (DXGI)
NVIDIA even does DXGI layering automatically because of this, but it has to be enabled in the NVIDIA control panel
The dunkey video on it is one of his funniest so just watch that
(AMD does it for select games but it's not configurable, Intel never does it)
weird, I thought this was exactly the sort of issue Vulkan was supposed to be solving
in general, one recurring theme is that Intel's Vulkan support is subpar, like OpenGL
no surprise there
so yeah, this ended up being a big reason to add D3D12 support in Godot (on top of making it easier to port to Xbox)
it will be interesting to see if AAAs keep using Vulkan, now that Stadia is no more
I would be very surprised for GTA VI, but what about Doom: The Dark Ages?
Isn't the PS5 using Vulkan?
(remember that id Software is now Microsoft's property too)
no, custom API
Oh wow.
is the "low-latency presentation" a concern for less graphically intense games, i.e. for indies would Vulkan make sense as a more cross-platform option? (or does the use of engines make this an irrelvant question / should I be asking how the engine decides what to use)
That's somehow even more harder to develop considering how Sony tends to be very picky.
Switch is also custom, but it can run Vulkan and OpenGL ES 3.0 too. Licensed games can use Vulkan
input lag always matters for user experience, no matter how demanding the game is. Even non-game applications benefit from lower lag
in terms of FPS, performance is usually the same on NVIDIA/AMD, but Intel can lag behind when using Vulkan
oh you meant input lag
aaaaand Moon Channel made a video on the Palworld suit, cool, that'll be the next hour of my life
i can't wait for Dark Ages ☃️
I'mma play SoTN
Which version?
Oh no, you're not playing it on a CRT! Your experience is ruined now! /s
okay so there's an item in Streets of Rogue called the Cube of Lampey
i just picked up the Cube of Zoe
completely unrelated, i'm sure
well, shit, i broke the emulator, lmao
before i broke it tho
CUSTOMIZABLE UI IN A PS1 GAME
yeah that was wild when I found that option
THIS GAME IS TWENTY SEVEN AND A HALF YEARS OLD WHAT
it's also super weird to me that these menus look basically the same as FF7's
Konami fucking COOKED
They are a similar color but FF7's menus are textured differently
of course these days if you were given that power, you'd probably just make some of the menus illegible
Is it really that impressive that there's custom UI? Didn't a lot of games especially RPGs have that option at the time?
it kinda goes both ways
in a sense these features were easier to offer because the UI is so much simpler that customization options are simpler to implement and less risky / likely to conflict with the design
it's also unclear how useful some of these features were; RGB is easy to implement, but when the menu backgrounds are all the same color, is there much value in it? it's not like it's helping colorblind people, and the text is white regardless
imo, this game is from an era when just getting a UI to function was hard enough they generally would stop there and focus on gameplay, and after this comes the era where UI itself gets fancy enough to be impressive by default, and then comes the level of UI customization combined with default fanciness that the customization itself qualifies as impressive
I like it when menus are in my favorite color
Oooh, Retroarch has Retro Achievements support
oh, I wasn't aware of that when I played some of this
(my favorite color is blue so...)
Wish more games had those custom options now though, although obviously a lot of UIs are designed with a specific style and aesthetic in mind (well, when they're not generic minimalism anyways)
I remember really wanting to change the UI color of Cyberpunk but it ended up actually being important to the game lol

I'm probably not getting 100% because I've seen a few RA videos and some of the achievements are like, masochist mode (Collect 7 Emeralds in Emerald Hill, for instance)
for instance
isn't that most games?
It's fortunate that you do because it's the most common favorite which guarantees a lot more people design with it in mind
But like, more
like, playing through a stage without hitting left, stuff a player would NEVER DO
nice
I maintain that good achievements exist to push players to do entertaining or enriching things that they would not otherwise do
(achievements that exist just as statistics for the developers are fine too)
like clicking on Door 430
I don't remember what that was besides Stanley Parable
it's an elaborate joke around how overly easy some achievements are, where you do what the achievement says and then the narrator goes "okay that doesn't really seem like enough, maybe try clicking this other door instead" and escalates maybe 5-10 times until you've clicked half the random junk in the office
Oh yeah
two achievments so far
one for beating Dracula and one for... Accidentally activating the fire whip. again.
only problem i'm having so far is wolves turning into blocks
huh, I never had that problem
i did fuck with a lot of settings
my RetroArch says I was playing it on the... "PCSX ReARMed" core? which I probably chose more or less at random
hmmm, i'm not sure if i should play the game in 4:3 or 16:9
Ah, found a better solution, I just like, fucked around a bit and managed to make it fill the screen better. i would get like, a custom background for complete black bar removal but i have no idea how to do that, lmao
yeah it's not worth the effort unless you're likely to play this more than once
well i figured out borders and there's a pretty cool one that reflects my inputs but ehhh it kinda takes away from the purity of it
I'll just deal
boss 1 down
with 4hp left
you telling me my fist is stronger than a damn sword
depends on your equipment
unfortunately fists have pitiful reach, which is what really matters for staying alive
Dealing enough damage before the enemy can act is sufficient
well, yes, but it's rare you can do that until late game backtracks
I love glass cannon builds so I usually maximize my attack and see how soon I can reach that
Like in Paper Mario today where Bowser took 14, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7...
in this particular game I think there's little you can do to make a "build" like that, most items you just equip if they're better and that's kinda it
If I recall correctly, fists are the glass cannon weapon in symphony of the night, but you can't kill enemies before they act, so you'll have to learn how to dodge
Fist style weapons have pretty good DPS to compensate for their reach being low
unfortunately dodge doesn't work until the attack animation is completely finished (and has no i-frames I think?, and is shorter than many enemy attacks...), so most of the time it's not even an option for avoiding damage, and only getting a longer weapon allows you to do any damage without taking some
it's one of those stat tradeoffs that looks good on paper but doesn't work at all once you're playing
(for a casual first playthrough anyway, I'm sure people have found ways to get a weird selection of equipment early that makes it somehow viable)
shiet.
reminds me how Gran Turismo 1 has a FOV slider option (well, 3 options called Narrow/Normal/Wide)... for a PS1 game released in late 1997
wide FOV helps a lot with the sense of speed, since GT is a series that struggles with the sense of speed in general
GT4 has hidden FOV options too in its Secret menu
Valve now requires kernel-level anticheat to be marked, and allows for other anticheat to be described in the game page
With this feedback in mind, we've added a new field in the 'Edit Store Page' section where developers can indicate any anti-cheat software that is installed with the game. Once filled out, this data will be displayed to users on the game's Steam Store page.```
that's good to hear
I remember seeing something about Kernel access for anti-cheats being closed off at some point, has there been any movement on that front?
That's something Microsoft needs to enforce
yaaay
They don't mind kernel level anticheat but they do mind when it breaks other things
I think people misunderstood recent news following the CrowdStrike debacle
but Microsoft doesn't intend to block off kernel AC
(I wish they did, though - the upsides of kernel AC are not worth the downsides)
oh. that's a shame
They're planning to make kernel access less necessary
right, but I imagine it's not easy to develop and rollout something like that as described in the article

i really hope they keep using NSO for the next console especially if it's on the horizon because otherwise this music app might be obsolete
I hope they don't because you shouldnt need to pay to play online
So after a few more hours of playing Star Ocean: The Divine Force, I have determined that the game was definitely rushed out, even though there were 3-4 years between it and the last mainline game and a couple remakes. It's easy to see that animations were reused (which is fine, but more animations could have been created for characters and NPCs), they obviously went with first takes for some line reads. Some character designs and details needed more work, and there's a fair amount of clipping that could have easily been avoided. There are a few other problems, and I like the game well enough, sure, but I expect more from Square Enix and Tri-Ace. They usually do much more quality work.
Saw quite a bit of Supermassive Games' last game
Wow that was terrible
three whole entire hours of absolutely nothing at all, kind of insane that Until Dawn was their only good game
Okay, The Divine Force just went up a point for not only directly referencing the star ship of Star Ocean: The Last Hope, the Calnus, but showing that main pairing of The Last Hope is totally canon and they totally had a kid because one of the people I'm looking at right now (not playable) is a descendant of the family (same last name as the male protag of The Last Hope), captaining a ship with the same name of The Last Hope's ship. This admiral is continuing his grandparents' (or great grandparents', the game doesn't specify how long it's been since the end of The Last Hope, but by my estimate, it's been at least two generations) legacy! I'm so proud.
Hogwarts Legacy is on sale if anyone wants it:
Listen, I made the mistake to get Space Age
I will be busy for a while
No time for whimsy, the factory must grow

its kinda amusing thanks to dune how many games made use 'spice' as a currency/needed item/trade material
The British empire too
the spiciest spice
I'm talking specifically about imperialism with the primary purpose of securing spice routes
Knowing the author no doubt that was on purpose in Dune
Around Spice on one single planet literal galaxy wide wars are fought in the books
(mostly off screen)
And a lot of assassination plots
(mostly on screen)
A major plot point is the attempt of like, a bunch of different factions, to trasplant the worms and the spice cycle on different planets, so they have to stop relying on one goddamn planet and whoever controls it becomes like, the fucking emperor of everything.
Yeah
vampire survivors is the only game where amongus can kill big fuzz from contra
Speaking of which, I get paid tomorrow and I'm totally getting the Castlevania update.
there is something viscerally satisfying about fisting lamps

potemkin moment
Essentially they can’t trust any Linux device because it can be clearly modified without the Anti Cheat knowing. Runs blind when you don’t have a secure way to verify that the player is cheating.
So yeah, either the Linux community decides to create an open solution which I doubt… or Valve implements a SteamOS anticheat system that can’t be bypassed.
ah shit, here we go again
Just saying if you wanna fight sometime I'm down, if I'm free at the time obviously
some good games for this round of free with prime
Glover is a puzzle-intensive adventure game made up of 6 worlds with 30 different levels. You control a charismatic glove that walks on two fingers, slaps harder than Steve Austin, dribbles faster than Scottie Pippen, and plays with a bouncy rubber ball.
Coming to PS5|4, Xbox One, Xbox Series S|X, Nintendo Switch in 2025!
BRO
what do you here
lmao
so this dude was railing me until i realised i could exploit his ai by baiting him to jump then throwing an axe
potemkin brain moment
dunno how i did it but idid the dracula fireball thing
oh it's literally in the menu
so here i am, shanking a giant skull ghost with a tiny ass knife, backed into a corner with one hit from death
ah, this is Castlevania at it's finest.
this is very likely to be emulation and not an actual port, it'll probably run and handle like ass given the trailer
it does have widescreen support with non-stretched HUD, so they likely modded the ROM to achieve this (like OnlineCTR did for Crash Team Racing). Texture replacements for button prompts look very high resolution so it's probably not ROM modding, but some kind of custom texture replacement implemented in the emulator
"Hey, old man, help me."
"I can't go against the Master."
"I'll pay you."
"FUCK DRACULA ALRIGHT YOU GOTTA DEAL!"
yeah, half the bosses basically require AI manip to be playable, it's super weird
yknow
after the 5th time losing half an hour plus of progress because healing is scarcer than toilet paper in 2020, it is kinda noticable why this game doesn't really get talked about so much
well, yeah, there's a reason I dropped it lol
at least the health/saves/etc can be worked around with save states (is it just me, or do 70% of old-enough-to-emulate games basically require save states to stay playable by modern standards?)
it's kinda like Mario 64 or OoT where I'm trying to be gentle but god some choices are just painful
but there isn't a fix for the combat being just not fun, and the exploration becoming a drag once the castle's big enough and your movement never speeds up
help us, Obi SoTN decompilation
I thought Mario 64 aged super well actually, what caused problems there?
it's not just you, people had more time to waste on retrying things or waiting for animations back then
I think people are just far more busy nowadays, regardless of age
it aged quite well in vanilla form, but the decompilation helps a lot with QoL features (especially for the camera)
the vanilla camera is just OK by today's standards, although it was amazing back then
plus for every piece of jank, there is something genuinely charming
like the bible subweapon just YEETING itself off screen
that's just fucking funny
only being able to carry one subweapon really hamstrings the whole system though
it's interesting because I played Rondo of Blood first, so SotN feels like they basically copy-pasted the RoB combat into a metroidvania format, and half of these issues are a direct result of that; e.g. only one subweapon at a time makes way more sense in linear arcade levels you're supposed to replay several times to get good at (heck RoB often put a choice of subweapons in front of each boss room)
I should probably still try Aria of Sorrow at some point to see if it got better
though in general it just seems like the metroid side of metroidvanias has always had way better combat
i killed an enemy that was taking 2 damage at most for a fucking post roast?
I guess that makes sense, maybe starting in the PS2 era just got me used to doing "semi-manual" camera control; I feel like every time Mario 64's camera got weird I just started using the camera reset button and then it was fine
AH RIGHT OF COURSE. WATER KILLS YOU.
you know, Aria at least had the deceny to not do that.
and you know, not surround the area with enemies
and tiny platforms
and death water in a game with very limited healing options.
god and I gave Bloodstained shit
oh I will be very annoyed if the Bloodstaineds are also this clunky
don't get me wrong, not a flawless game (I still think Aria and Rabi-Ribi are peak for Metroidvania don't fucking @ me) but like
This game needs a remake from the ground up.
that's interesting because Rabi-Ribi is another one that bored me until I kinda dropped it
sighs and boots up Rabi-Ribi for the infinityth time
boots up Nine Sols
it's a game that wears it's heart (and the horny) on it's sleeve, i've grown to appreciate that kind of honesty
plus you know
cute bunni

I'm not sure any of my favorites are less "honest"... do you mean you like it more for the overall vibes than any of the mechanical design?
Yeah, the Touhou-type boss fights don't hurt and you know, "honesty" is just a vibes sorta thing at the end of it
Self-aware of how silly it is
maybe "simple and cozy"?
also works
I guess Ori is the closest I get to that
ahhh listening to the title theme gives me the fuzzies

wait my protagonist looks different
okay game, i'll stop trying to be cheeky (for now)
Yesterday I had problems with Xbox but I "fixed" it for time being. But I didn't know that in the process emulators will be deleted so today I'm going to try to put them back. I really don't want to because it's a drag and a lot of watching YouTube, using PC and logging to things but I have to because they should be there. Especially now that game preservation and emulation are in danger
I almost have my first gold camo in BO6
I never got a single gold camo in MW3(2). I much prefer BO6
I got the gold camo in BO6
What is gold camo?
Its a cosmetic you can put on your weapons in cod. You have to do a bunch of challenges with each weapon to get it
Also i got Dragon Age: The Veilguard
I only paid $7.99 for it cuz i had a bunch of trade in credit at gamestop
NOW THIS IS A CROSSOVER
touhou rabbit girl
Good luck
what when where huh
mods
⌨️
🖥️
That bad, huh?
We're making progress but it's so much thinking and doing
You can do it, soldier
Oh let's fucking go
Good news PS2 is working. Bad news.. saves are gone

Well, you could probably get back to where you were pretty quick
relatively
I thought the saves were on the flash drive? Can you not copy them over?
I gave the same direction of save files as before and memory card too, but I think the issue may be it's newer version of XBSX2
weird
My plan is to watch YouTube video of play through and just run until I get to hospital
Oh yeah wait no, technically memory card was on internal drive and got wiped
Oh hey, even more stuff free with prime:
But it's no problem! I'll follow up in no time 💖 Most important is it works
this is not a drill
we have narrowed down the exact date of f-stop’s cancellation to a period of 5 days in october 2008, and discovered a lot more earth shattering knowledge about 2009 portal 2 that breaks our foundational understanding of the game’s development. https://t.co/DHEpQSwAdr
Portal fans have managed to narrow down the specific cancellation date of F-Stop to somewhere between Oct 22-27, 2008
Guys are you playing this new mobile Pokémon card packs opening game? It was released like yesterday or today
I found this one in one of my packs I never seen it before 🤍
@bold sonnet @fickle garnet one of my best plays from earlier
adorable pokemon!
Evening Reina
hey blade! nice multi-kill
I haven't gotten the best play at all yet
Ive had really good plays, but not good enough ig
Another about 10 minutes ago
yeah no stress sillysnepp, good luck on your matches
You’ll get one
What you been playing Reina
Even if you get a double or triple they still count
I know
pro mlg
I have over 50 double kills
I wanna try to get the diamond camo for assault rifles at least
Its gonna take a bit cuz im bad at getting headshots
I almost have the XM4 gold
Also i was trying to do the Liberty Falls easter egg, but i have not been able to. Im not great at zombies
What round do you usually get to?
Ive been able to get to around 20 alone. My highest was 31 when i played with randoms
I got to round 10 or 11 on Liberty Falls solo
I got to round 100 in Cold War with a friend
They recently changed the cap from 256 to 999 since people are already getting high rounds on BO6
Holy shit
Yup
Im almost prestige one
I’m almost 3
💀
The seasonal challenges should be the same as Cold War
I dont remember what they were
There were 20 challenges each for multiplayer and zombies per season. and if you did either you’d get a season mastery calling card.
How come?
gamepass is on my dads account so i cant play cod on my pc
Ah.
I play on my PC with GamePass. Rare take but I honestly think the 20/mo I pay for it is worth it. I've played games I otherwise wouldn't want to buy and games I have wanted to buy I've played the shit out of
It's actually making me want an Xbox so I have access to the full library
I normally play on PlayStation but if I like a game on gamepass and it’s a good offer I buy the game so it doesn’t go away if it leaves gamepass.
Vampeak survivors
Angelic choir intensifies
That reminds me the next HoloCure update comes out this month
Do you like Vampire Survivors but you're also a fucking weeb!? HoloCure
i need to get the Among Us expansion
as someone with 172 hours on HoloCure, I too give it a recommendation
Steam reports I have 31 hours but it is not counting all that I put in before it came to Steam
holo cure is awesome aye
Wait it just occurred to me how much cooler Hogwarts game would be if you could say to microphone or kinect names of the spells you want to cast instead of scrolling through slots and pressing buttons
Could be done same way like with shouts in Skyrim
It would be cooler but
It would be harder to make, and you cannot play the game without annoying nearby people
Just like an additional option
wait wha-
i suppose this is a solution to the "issue" of streaming Nintendo music but...
spotify exists?
Spotify doesn't support artists much compared to buying the music. Then again, neither does Nintendo
also
calling Jump Up Superstar a "classic"
I'M AGING
It is six years old
7
i said this as a joke but i am genuinely considering it now, i thik there's something wrong with me
poor life choices, hoooo
well, there are many reasons to enjoy a harder difficulty, have fun and remember you can always start at a lower difficulty if it turns out to be not fun
and there's one big reason this is a bad idea
oh and i never beat the game above Novice (The difficulty BELOW) Normal)
Well my first playthrough was on Normal and since then I've grown a lot more accustomed to the game and picked up a few tricks, so I feel like I can make the jump without the training wheels
plus the idea of the bosses having new patterns rather than just straight "take more damage" will test me in new and exciting ways- oh god i really have become a masochist

still a better time than Symphony of the Night
is Symphony of the Night that bad?
I know it has "early castlevania jank" but people seem to like it
I suppose the newer DS/3ds titles were better made versions of the same thing
Yeah, there's a lot of weirdness to it that ultimately turned me off, especially losing progress multiple times because of a lack of healing
and i could save state scum but honestly at that point it just feels not worth it
at least if I die in Rabi-Ribi, i can just jump back in for another attempt
There's no loss of momentum and you can go "Okay so I can try this" without much issue
In my case, SotN just bored me, even after I was using save states to avoid constantly redoing stuff. The castle/map design's pretty neat, but the movement and combat is just bad by any modern standard, essentially forcing you to cheese every fight since nothing else would work, so playing through it doesn't stay fun for long.
it is really hard to tell when a game is getting praise for being influential and innovative rather than for being fun even compared to later entries in the genre
somehow the Metroids are way better at this; I always say Super Metroid is not as good as the later entries, but the margin is so small that I'd still recommend anyone who's played some of Fusion, ZM, Dread, and the Primes still try Super at least once if only for variety
also Link to the Past, that's still a top-tier 2D Zelda (especially if you use save states), the gap between it and Link Between Worlds is so small
fair fair
the big question is how far am i going to get before i hit a wall and give up, lmao
i'm betting somewhere between the end of the main game and the start of the post-game DLC
that seems to be a point where you'll have had plenty of fun already
so not so bad
well, post-post game?
because while you do "finish" the game after 10 bosses, to get the true ending you need to fight every boss
I have no idea how to categorize Dark Souls because I know a lot of people genuinely believe it's more fun for them than everything else in the genre, but for me personally it was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a video game (not even hyperbole), and yet also several of my all-time favorites draw heavily on mechanics it popularized, so... wtf lol
(Which thankfully does NOT include any of the superbosses)
yeah understandable regarding DS1. I'm really glad I gave Elden Ring a shot though
DS1 had sort of primed me to think i'd hate it
but Elden Ring is so so much better
I'm like 60 hours in and I've still not beat it
DS3 is my favorite because of how floaty and fast yet precise the combat is
(I've not played Elden Rings)
Elden Ring I've been watching someone else play. I think if I did it myself I'd have mixed feelings since it does appear to fix most of what DS1 did wrong for me, but it's also the kind of open world that for me just dilutes everything and/or effectively requiers a walkthrough so I'd never get that into it compared to my favorite games.
yeah fair enough Flitter.
Why would it require a walkthrough? I feel like that would ruin the experience somewhat.
DS3 is super linear and it does require a walkthrough unless you're willing to explore and experiment a lot more than a normal game
I mean, it does, I'm saying that as a bad thing lol
part of my problem with DS1 was that despite putting in all the effort the game demanded it was thoroughly impossible to make any progress without walkthroughs after the first area or two
ER I'd probably get much farther in and maybe even find an ending without getting hard stuck, but there's still a ton of content I'd miss without a walkthrough
You don't need to see all the content though? there's so much in it it seems that you could happily miss much (like I'm sure I have) and have a great time.
hm
One down... 25 to go
I guess the short answer is that "require" might've been too strong a word, this is more a matter of degrees
but, again hypothetically since I'm just watching someone else play it, I'm pretty sure I would enjoy ER a lot less if we were playing it strictly blind and missing most of the missable content

it's not a hard blocker the way it was in DS1 despite people pretending it's not
but a lot of the most interesting stuff in ER is easily missable, especially if you have any interest in trying to make heads or tails of the lore
yeah, I suppose this is a difference in approaches here
My goal is 24, actually.
If I'm mathing correctly, that should be enough to beat the true final non-DLC boss because as much as i like the dlc thematically, it is not a fun dlc
to the point that I'm pretty sure if I was playing it myself, I would enjoy it more with a walkthrough and seeing everything, than I would trying to do it all blind
there are other games where trying to find everything for myself is the better way to play, mostly because it is feasible to find most if not all of the interesting content on your own, sometimes it takes effort but there's at least a fun middle ground between pixel hunting and googling, like if the in-game map clearly shows every area you haven't been to or which areas have a missed collectible and so on
like most metroidvanias and some zeldas
(I'll probably try the super optional Halloween DLC because Mischevious Masqurade is a banger track.)

Hmm, I guess you come at games from a different angle than I do. I'm sort of ambivalent on trying to grab everything in a game, or wringing it dry for content. I just play for whatever experience I get , and if that's fun, I might go for a second playthrough.
and yes I'm very aware that the ER style of open world is optimal for other kinds of players, especially if you're more about getting immersed in a world, or more spontaneous in your exploration than me trying to tick every checkbox on some list
which is why my original comment was phrased as "the kind of open world that for me ..."
hm, ok that makes me think I gave the wrong impression
Sure, but i'm trying to understand, not just bounce off your comment
there are plenty of games I don't 100% because some of those %s aren't the kind of thing I feel like doing and that's fine, especially when it's obvious upfront so I can simply choose to stop there
(e.g. I never got max% in Hollow Knight because I hit a hard skill ceiling in the post-post-game bosses; that's not a flaw with the game, DLC-only optional bosses should get to a point where not everyone can beat them, when you're adding literally dozens of them lol)
like with ER, even with a walkthrough, I would not be picking every single glovewort on the map, just like I didn't try for every single korok seed in BotW/TotK
with ER, I'm talking about things like:
- nearly half of the game world being dangerously easy to never discover if you never look at a guide or a full map
- most of the story/lore/world-building being easily missable or in sidequests, especially sidequests you can easily lock yourself out of by simply going to places in the wrong order, so without a guide the overall story for me would've been "that was pretty but I still have no idea what anyone's talking about"

it's very, very different from skipping an optional challenge level because I feel done with a game
now, again, I get that for some players these exact aspects are appealing for exactly the same reasons I find them unappealing, that's fine, no one's gonna like everything, this is just what doesn't work for me
right, I guess I don't empathise, but i do understand.
idk if it counts as 100 percenting but i always get all the secrets/weapon upgrades/suit upgrades in Doom Eternal when doing a new playthrough
I think that's close to what I went for when I played the two modern Dooms
ooh I need to get back on Doom 2016
I got half way through
and then, put it down lol
i haven't gotten all the achievements but that's mostly because i don't ever play Battlemode
yes
is that the PvP mode?
i should probablt replay 2016 too
ye
it's cool i just don't really like multiplayer usually
yeah, even the fact that I can get this specific and nitpicky is because we have such a wide range of games to choose from, and nowhere near enough time to play them all; this is less "I wouldn't like ER" and more "I'd rather try X, Y, Z instead of ER since I'm pretty sure I already know what my thoughts on ER would be"
(of course what I'd really like is quick saves for Sekiro, then I'd try that again in a heartbeat)
From soft: "no no no, just suffer if you want to play Sekiro lmao"
"but video games are supposed to be fun" except when they're art I guess
hmm, given how popular horror games are, I guess "fun" is an umbrella stretched wide.
funny you should mention that
I see "horror games" as a spectrum from:
- games that are fun in the usual way, but also have a strong element of psychological tension, where part of the challenge is trying to remain calm when the game is doing everything in its power to make you panic
- games that are trying to tell a story or evoke a feeling or do one of those other abstract goals that makes us call it "art" (about some uncomfortable horror-y topic), and gameplay is either a secondary consideration, or designed very specifically to facilitate that story/feeling/etc rather than to be intrinsically fun
ah, like what i've heard of 1000XResist
The three time IGF award nominated 1000xRESIST is a thrilling sci-fi adventure. 1000 years in the future, humanity is all but extinguished and a disease spread by an alien occupation keeps the survivors underground. but to finish that thought
"survival horror" games in my mind are ones that have the good gameplay with tension aspect, but it's not strictly just that bullet point since some of them also have exceptional stories, it ends up being more a matter of emphasis
Dead Space is my go-to example of the tense gameplay being the main draw. IMO the story in the original is pretty solid, but like most games that are "about the gameplay", there are long stretches where simply nothing story-related happens. It's also the kind of game I'd probably enjoy replaying on a higher difficulty (if I didn't have fifty thousand other things to play).
Silent Hill 2 is my go-to example of the other extreme. The mechanics of a survival horror game are technically all there too, but the appeal is entirely about the story, the symbolism, the haunting atmosphere. It's never about challenge or gameplay for me; when I revisit SH2 it's to try and unearth yet another layer of subtextual meaning in the many unspeakable things that happened.
ahh yeah, i can see what you mean
imo most Resident Evils are also on the gameplay side of the spectrum, but it can vary (7 especially had some pretty high highs for the story)
and Signalis I'd place close to SH2, but not quite on the extreme end of the spectrum since it has significantly more and imo better gameplay / encounters than SH2 did (not that this makes either game better, imo they're both god-tier, this is just a slight difference in emphasis)
yeah fair
Signalis is on my "consideration list" atm too
It looks so stylish and good
but I'm terrible at enjoying horror games haha
yeah, at least for me artsy/feels/vibes games are best slept on until you're in the optimal mood to appreciate them
great horror stories can be an especially... I'm gonna say specific mood
yeahhh
If you do pick up 1000XResist I hope you enjoy it!

I think it’s way beyond mods: Grafana is a framework I use at my day job for interactive charts and dashboards of time series metrics. Dunno the other one.
There is also one for Factorio, plus a mod that allows Factorio to import resources from arbitrary sources including Minecraft
Prometheus is a program you can host on a server to collect metrics, and Grafana displays those metrics. It's typically used for monitoring a server, e.g. your app can have Prometheus integration to report the number of actions made on a specific date. For example, a Minecraft server can use this to display a graph of how many players it has at a given point.
It's called a time-series database and can technically host any data that can be tracked over time

Peak tripple A gaming from rockstar: Release a 14 year old game that can't launch because their launcher is broken and can't open, and get constant errors telling you to reinstall the game, despite just downloading it and not being able to open the game yet.
How do they not even release a 14 year old game right
And from what I have seen online, they for some reason saw a reason to add frame generation and DLSS when there is basically no visual improvement other then some sliders being turned up.
Can it just please be released like it is a game from 2010
Why does it need frame generation, are they expecting people to want to run it at 1000 fps
I'm probably going to refund RDR on steam until this is fixed, if it is ever fixed. I can't open the game. I just reinstalled the launcher and it still can't open, it just crashes.
The fucking fix for it is not to reinstall the launcher, but to try and delete every file of the launcher you can and then edit stuff in the registry
I don't even know if I should try it. I'm tempted to just refund RDR1, and probably RDR2 as well if I can because now I can't open either game
having DLSS is good because it finally adds a form of TAA to the game (which the PS5 version also has)
old games not having TAA is the bane of my existence, I need to run them at 8K to get rid of aliasing, which is wasteful
some games only have TAA in their Switch ports of all things (Metro 2033/Last Light, Alien Isolation), the PC versions never got those in updates
Doesn't TAA generally make things look blurry though?
it makes the image a bit blurrier, but so much more stable
MSAA also makes it much more stable
it's the thing that makes a game look less like a game, and more like an offline render
but MSAA doesn't help on specular aliasing 🙂 or anything that's caused by a shader, not geometry
MSAA also does that
which is where most of the aliasing comes from nowadays, especially in modern games
What is specular aliasing?
TAA - or Temporal Anti-Aliasing - has become the de facto standard form of anti-aliasing in video games today. It's a potent form of improving image quality and delivering effects similar to super-sampling while using a tiny fraction of your GPU's power. However, it's not without its issues and challenges and many users actively despise it. How ...
keep it for later 🙂
I just wanted to be playing red dead redemption undead nightmare but modern tripple A gaming is fucked
I actually full on miss the days of putting a disc into the PC, having it install, and just playing it.
Hell even the earlier days of downloading
Now I apparently have to fucking do registry editing just to get a game from 2010 to open because of a broken launcher
frame generation is also good to have in this kind of game, because physics get weird at high FPS (it's why the game is capped at 144 FPS)
so for users with monitors faster than 144 Hz, this gives them a good option that doesn't impact gameplay negatively
Aah that makes sense then yeah
Frame generation at a high fps like that is nice at least
Omg now the rockstar launcher is suddenly doing an update
Probably wasn't working because there was an update it wasn't downloading
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YEtX_Z7zZSY I will show this video though. I haven't seen that video there from digital foundry, but this is one I have seen about TAA.

I had an issue with RGL a few months ago, I lost access to my email address
I contacted Rockstar support about it and it took a few days, but we sorted it out
oh no, the /r/FuckTAA crowd...
there is a reason that subreddit gets memed
It gets memed for people hating blurryness in their games?
no, because people often use mods to turn off TAA (perhaps inject SMAA later on) then complain that everything is noisy
(since modern games are not designed around not having any antialiasing... except Nintendo games)
Well yeah. I mean any game without any anti aliasing at all will be shitty.
I'm still all for MSAA. It worked so amazing in old games.
But I do also play old games a lot more then modern games.
MSAA became less and less effective, while remaining as costly (or becoming even costlier) in modern games, since so many things are shader-based now
I see
Maybe if modern games had MSAA I would realize this, but no modern games have it.
the few modern games that feature MSAA generally have simpler visuals, which is why it works well for them
CS2 is the main example, but also Trackmania (only on low/medium shader quality... high/very high use TAA instead. See the pattern? :P)
I just see old games like l4d2, where you could go to 720p and then 8x msaa and it looks great despite being a bit blurry. I think Life is Strange goes to 16x msaa if I remember right as well.
MSAA is not in modern games because of how expensive it is. You can see similar results by simply running the game at a higher resolution then downscaling
For RDR2, I played it with TAA at 720p, but because it looks so damn blurry at that resolution with TAA I had to use the maximum sharpening setting, but then that can make some bushery look kinda fucky
I'm fine with expensive settings. Older games were fine with it, with all the old hardware we had.
there is one modern game that features an enhanced MSAA option known as SGSSAA, it's one of Durante's ports
well, two games since recently with the release of Ys Nordics on PC
but SGSSAA is still quite expensive, it's a hardware-guided form of supersampling
If you're fine with expensive settings then don't play at 720p
I probably could have gone up from 720p a little. But I am playing with integrated graphics.
Well if you can't afford the expensive settings are you really fine with expensive settings?
I'm pretty sure 2x msaa would have been fine
low settings + high textures is often the way to go on modern games when using an IGP. You can't really afford MSAA, it is very expensive on IGPs due to their limited memory bandwidth
Resolution is the the most straightforward form of preventing aliasing, and ideally you should be running at the monitor's exact resolution
I generally play games at 720p and then use RSR or FSR to upscale to 1080p. It just gives a little more performance and more battery life sometimes too.
I keep getting surprised at how good Talos Principle looks on lowest settings + max textures, despite being a 10 year old game
with these settings, it runs at 60 FPS on a 7 year old ultrabook that isn't meant for gaming at all
But I am also playing games on a 7 inch screen
That is what I have done with RDR2. Though with Cyberpunk 2077 I just generally use high settings because I was targetting only 30 fps.
But Cyberpunk is a game that sorta deserves to be played with high settings
I guess doom eternal is the other modern game I have that I played on low, cause it was at a good 120 fps. But otherwise I have no other modern games.
I generally can use MSAA though on this iGPU, at least on the older games that I do play more often. I mean before I was playing L4D with max settings at 1080p and 2x msaa and I was peaking over 200 fps with the frame limiter off.
Gonna try messing with this now. Cause I just want to play Red Dead
I started watching it. And though I should say even at the start of the video, TAA compared to no anti aliasing does look great. The blurryness of it just reminds me of FXAA is all.
Also SSAA.. I mean it is just running at a higher resolution as far as I know
Which I have done, when I played games on a 2070 super I mostly played a lot of my games at 4k despite having a 1080p monitor
Cause I had fuck loads of gpu power and only a 60hz screen, and played older games.
Why play Dead Island at 350 fps when I can force a higher resolution and have it look better, and still be at more fps then I need
Seriously I was at about 300-350fps on a 2070 super on max graphics at 1080p.. That card was so fucking insane for what I played.
I kinda get it now actually, because of deferred rendering
And I guess with newer games, you are generally trying to get more performance, not like older games where you can just throw your processing resources around like it is nothing
They show a lot of places there in Crysis where 8x MSAA is not even doing much
DigitalFoundry is a good resource, and this video is accurate
trust Alex™️
Yeah Digitalfoundry is great. I actually quite often watch random videos from them here and there. A lot of the technology stuff goes over my head but it is so interesting.
This video here is great, this shows why and how TSAA is actually really great in modern games
I'm just biased that I literally have only played 3 modern big games. Otherwise it is just smaller indie games.
Funny enough one of the indie games I play is harder to run then Cyberpunk for me, but it is just a stupidly unoptimized Unity game
Cyberpunk: Oh yeah you can play at low settings at 70 fps if you want
Urge: Fucking 30 fps take it or don't play
but the game looks like something from 2010
omg I got red dead running
Now I'm gonna get drowned in nostalgia, I haven't played this since my ps3 last worked like 8 years ago
I don't remember accepting a privacy policy back in 2011 though
Gonna see if an rog ally can play rdr at max settings cause fuck it
oh ok it's at 60 fps at 1080 max settings, I didn't except it to be that good
I literally can't turn anything up so max settings it is
I suppose this is an xbox 360 game
The amount of nostalgia I am feeling tonight is insane
Is that amount no stalgia
The way RDR does TAA is interesting in that it uses either FSR or DLSS but sets it to the native resolution of your screen, or whatever you run the game at. I don't know if this has been done before, normally FSR and DLSS are used for their upscaling mostly, but here it is being used exclusively for the anti aliasing.

The actual content of the chart is pretty good. This degree of growth in less popular franchises is always welcome

The main conceit is that after the world was blown up by nukes, in Moscor at least society has survived by retreating in the metro.
There are various factions, monsters that arose from the radiations, and every journey to the surface is dangerous and brief, necessitating gas masks with a limited number of filters, and being extremely dangerous because of all the goddamn monsters.
Also yes, there are Nazis. And yes, you can absolutely beat the shit out of them.
i wasnt even sure if you can kill them until i dumped all of my mags into one
all hail the Tsar Fish
My favourite element, is that you have normal bullets right, that you use in your guns, and then you have fancy pre war bullets, that you can totally use as ammo and do a ton more damage, but are also your currency
So you kinda don't want to shoot them out of your guns
Why are pre-war bullets different? Stronger material?
I assume they are just made better instead of inside a metro with whatever they could find
Yeah, fair
It's really good tension because you can meet a really though enemy and then you have to consider if you want to shoot your money at him
And maybe come short to buy the next upgrade
Because they were produced using professional machinery and with high-quality materials, rounds of this quality cannot be reproduced in the post-apocalyptic Metro system. Due to this, and the fact that real money lost all its value after the War, Metro inhabitants chose to use military grade 5.45mm rounds as their most widespread form of currency.
It's such a cool choice
as opposed to
Unlike pre-war military grade rounds, dirty 5.45mm rounds were produced post-war in the Metro or other surviving settlements, most likely by refilling empty 5.45mm casings using custom-made, lower-quality propellant. Because dirty rounds can be easily reproduced and are very common, they have almost no value and cannot be used as currency.
Adds depth to the gameplay, it's evocative, deepens the setting.
do yall play metro the sneaky way or kill everything on sight way?
i forget what the exchange rate is in the other games but in 2033...
1 MGR will buy 5 dirty rounds
or 10 dirty rounds will buy 1 MGR
if i have the ammo, or i'm not going for stealth achievements? murder everything in sight.
...Wow, you get ripped-off both ways, lol.
have the ammo or not i just kill everything that moves until theres nothing left
what is a metro
the subway
underground railway
oooh
The game has definitely an horror element in certain sections
That's...understating a few things, lol
navigating a run dow metro with monsters of various persuasion scattering about can be really tense
i was shitting bricks in the areas where theres the fucking spiderwebs you have to burn off
oh there are most definitely a few points where i did not sleep that night after playing Metro for the first time
It's not an horror game but it has horror elements
might have screamed a couple times from the dumbass spider jumpscares
Also all of the UI is pretty much diagetic
To check your map you get out a clipboard
You have incations on your watch for various stuff
The first game, 2033, is marked as a first-person shooter survival horror game on Wikipedia, but the other two are just first-person shooters.
at most, atmospheric horror wouldnt give it more than that
That said, fuck librarians
2033's Steam tags

wish the subtitles worked properly for background conversations cuz the english voice acting sucks ass for 2033 atleast
Tbf, they are Russian, not English. :P
I like the shitty VA, IDK why
How are the other two games for voice acting?
It may be because it's the same fake accent you get in older movies when anyone that was supposed to be russian was on screen.
It's shitty but in a way that I saw before so it kinda works for me
especialyl children voice acting really bothered me
remember kids, punching Nazis is okay
what if i rip their head off with a shotgun that has a silencer on it for literally 0 reason
this is acceptable
didnt expect to get jumpscared by discount nazi flag when I clicked this thread
hell yea
like what Chigurh uses in No Country For Old Men ?
today's sedecordle, my starting words gave me a combo (word #4) that can be either FLAIR or FRAIL which I hate because if nothing else tells me where the L/R are I have to blow a guess eventually. So I kept scrolling to see if I could find something else that would help. Word #6 was the exact same combo. Sooooo didn't blow a guess after all. It had both.
Of all the things to see in this thread, asking what a metro is is the most American one
Goddamn America needs public transport
Also the metro games are amazing, I still need to finish exodus tho
I strongly disliked how exodus was mildly disappointed with you when you killed people, even after those people kidnap and try to kill you first
need some up here in canada too, i swear ottawa's buses don't exist when you need them to
The use of the term 'metro' to refer to that is not exactly consistent across the world.
also yeah^
I suppose
"Rapid transit" or "heavy rail" is arguably the most generic option for naming these systems.
For what it is worth, I do default to "metro" when I think of those systems (likely because of the Washington Metro).
we dont call them metros here in the UK, we have the underground, but i think most folks here would know what "metro" means
I've only heard of underground, haven't heard of the term metro before
There's also the term "subway" in NA
Palworld has released details about Nintendo v. Palworld lawsuit
Apparently Nintendo sued with 3 patents and demanded:
- Palworld stops servicing
- Palworld pays Nintendo 5m JPY(~32k USD)
- Palworld pays the Pokemon Company 5m JPY
Two of the patents are about capturing, and one about riding
10m JPY is not that bad but the first demand is pretty bad
There is a chance they started with a harsh condition for future deal
Like "you can service but don't start a media franchise"
I guess my go-to words would be "subway" or "metro", though I've never personally lived somewhere where I would regularly use those except for London where we all call it the "tube", and that's understood to mean only London's subway
"Tube 2033" doesn't have quite the same ring to it
i do love the idea of a metro parody game called that tho
U-Bahn2033
I mean, there is no way they can ask that right? Given it's about patents and not copyright
At most they can ask damages and to change the mechanics in question
Whatever they do with their designs has nothing to do with the patents
If it was a copyright suite it would be a whole another matter
you can exploit gasmasks, toggle them on and off constantly
they will last like 5x longer and you don't lose any health by doing so. I was surprised to see this was even possible, but it is
kill everything on sight, I find ghosting boring in the vast majority of games. Metro also has good gunplay, so better make use of it
(even Deus Ex to be fair, despite its poor gunplay, but that's partly due to the antiquated stealth mechanics)
What I'm saying is that they can say "ok choose, are you going to court and stop service, or make an agreement"
Oh yeah, makes sense
Definitely big Nintendo L on this, it's such a horrible precedent for the industry
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eux6Go4xygA new favourite thing, the ost from a level but with ambience from that same level sprinkled in
War has changed. War never changes. War is the best level in Pizza Tower, change my mind.
I did all of this in audacity and recorded most of the sounds from the game directly. And I will say, the timer is synced to the beat of the music instead of to a real world second, since it would go out of sync eventually and I think it sounds a lot bette...
Another best play i got yesterday
getting the gold camo on the HE-1 is frustrating. you need to destroy three scorestreaks in a match 10 times, but it doesnt lock on to scorestreaks so the UAVs and CUAVs are almost impossible to hit

Update time!
- Added Kogasa, Patchouli and Nitori!
- Genbu Ravine Completed
- Started making Kasen's Senkai

i'm not into Minecraft... But...
I recommend waiting for the christmas sale
Also, before buying any game on steam check the price history on SteamDB
This game has been 60% off in June 2023
This one, or the first one?
Yeah, didn't this game come out this year?
There was another g5 game?
Yes, there was Maretime Bay Adventure first, and this is the second one.
there was

$25.99
This is currently the lowest low it has had, but I would follow Flitter's recommendation and wait a bit longer.
Oh yeah the first one
Yeah, usually christmas gets bigger sales, especially for children marketed games
i'm sold on this game based on this image alone https://store.steampowered.com/app/2571410/500_CALIBER_CONTRACTZ/
Cruelty Squad-like is becoming a genre
I saw a tad of gameplay and it seems like you can use knockback as momentum and I love doing that sorta thing
Your Force-A-Natures and your Ashes and the like.
oh my god the trailer is fucking Windows Movie Maker
the layers of irony are so thick i can't even-
i can see it now
"REAL CONTRACT KILLERS USE A CONTROLLER"
i'm fucking dying
mood
How dare you have an unsanctioned picture of me at work?
this is kind of cartoonish at this point
Patents for throwing a ball on a virtual enviroment, pathfinding, and riding mounts
Pathfinding algorithms are a real field for patents
Did Palworld use Nintendo's patented pathfinding algorithm though, or did it use a different one?
yeah, I'd want to know what specifically they're alleging was violated
like, there are a lot of different pathfinding algorithms, some of which involve shortcuts, optimizations, or value judgments based on the specific game (like, wanting character motion to look or feel "natural" or "robotic" and therefore having more or less meandering, straighter lines, etc.) If someone just straight up stole another company's algorithm, that's actually a reasonable lawsuit.
This one seems to be a group pathfinding algorithm
From most of what I can find at the moment it's not very clear how much of the patents are being infringed, but somehow something tells me I doubt that they somehow stole their pathfinding algorithm
Only thing I can find is that those are the patents being discussed
to be fair, it would be odd for Pocketpair to voluntarily reveal that they used this stuff
It's easy to observe and copy a pathfinding algorithm, and would be standard practice if you didn't know it was patented
Sounds like someone hasn't played Supreme Commander
haha fair enough,

It's a bit ridiculous looking, though at the same time i get the 'i want one' feeling
And then I look at the price
$500???
Holy
That swag tho
rip
Hello everybody! We have big news to share with you today: Amplitude is going indie again 🎉 Retrospective Our journey with SEGA over the last 8 years has been amazing, and we have learned so much working with them, but now we are returning to our roots as an independent studio. With ownership of the studio returning to some of our original found...
I didn't know they were sega'd
They got bought in 2016 to help Sega expand into the PC market.
I vibe with this but I think first would have to finish massefects

1 person found this review funny
I never knew on steam reviews are like that
Yeah Steam reviews have this feature to make it so people don't rate a review helpful when it's just a joke
it was added with good intentions, but joke reviews are still promoted too often as a lot of people still rate it as helpful
Steam guides have similar problems
Woohoo 🎉
I'm thinking of giving amd afmf a try in games again
what is "Amd afmf" ?
AMD's frame generation technology
this game's writing is great

"New 4X game Zephon is like eldritch Civilization in a cyberpunk future"
im so excited !!!!
Damn. Im only prestige 1 lvl 30 something
Im not a gamer but uh does the cover art of a videogame ost matter
Does it have to be good or can it be like whatever and gamers do not care as along as the actual sound track is good
What are your opinions
the cover art of an ost probably "matters" mostly for making potential buyers of <game> ost realise at a glance that this is <game>-related
(what one might call "branding" if that word didn't sound so evil)
I've seen multiple OST album covers that have zero association with the game, even Minecraft: Volume Beta is rather cryptic if you just look at the cover and don't know its name
sometimes, it's just the game's cover in a different aspect ratio and the album name has the name of the game... like Messiah
yeah, depending on where/how it's being sold even the branding/association may be irrelevant, and the image can be just whatever they felt like using
I see
one day we'll get spyro 4

Ponkis I want to share small thing. I like FC24 but I'm very bad at shooting so I pass to others to not mess up so teammates all over the world in many countries don't facepalm. I score 0.06 goals per match and my average rating is 6.1 out of 10 and today I
the Donkey Kong part of Super Nintendo World looks really cool
this will be Donkey Kong graphics in 2013
They should make the white one with rubberized coating that catches dirt and is impossible to clean
Plus matte finish and porous material
the cracks in the casing already do this
oh woof, that might have just killed my hype to get the game
I don't care how good a game is or how much I'd want to get it, I'm not freeing up 150 gb just for the one game, I also don't want to wait two days while it downloads
for a physical copy, they should just give you an SSD as the physical copy

Like Dwarf Fortress it also tends to have funny patch notes:
You can no longer attempt to sit on yourself, if you are a chair, or sleep on yourself, if you are a bed.
Goatfolk no longer always hate baboon faction leaders for disproving famous theorems.```
i finally got all endings on TBoI (repentance)
and the last one got me crying, with my jaw dropped and overwhelmed
SPOILERS if you haven't played / got this ending but i was SCREAMING on my brain ||when it got revealed that the narrator on the story was Isaac's dad.|| This gives a lot of interpretations on ||whether Isaac is dead (fuck Ed, i won't take his confirmations as canon) and enjoying his time on Heaven with his father or this whole story was because of Isaac's pain hearing his parents fight, blaming himself for destroying the family (and his mom for obsessing over religion)||
Oh I've seen lots of Dwarf Fortress streamers playing this lately.
Dwarf Fortress's adventure mode might be related
||my personal hc is that Isaac went to live with his father and didn't die in the chest, but this is because i like happy endings
||
Overwatch releasing a mode that literally undoes all of the balance patches made since 2016 is the funniest shit ever
damn that's a lot of space the game needs, maybe I'll wait for a sale lol, though I could probably uninstall a few older titles if I really thought about it
i need to play more caves of qud, i picked it up then got chain ko'd by various viruses and was super eepy so i couldnt play it

Another company stepped in to help
What do you mean I'm so confused
Rockstar hired a company called grove street games they did the original remasters. Which were a mess then a few years later Rockstar got a different company to fix everything.
