It's no secret that Kirby's Epic Yarn is a highly rated game. However, there's no denying it has one gaping tear...a lack of difficulty. So I took some effort to find a suitable challenge for this cute, fluffy platformer. What I found was, unexpected. And terrifying.

hope you had a good time
I did and it's over I can't believe it
impactful game?
Every fantasy lover in my country read witcher books. I'm not the best at reading so I played Witcher games. And now is over and I love Geralt of Rivia
ive been meaning to play Cyberpunk but it kind of overwhelms me
That was my next game idea but I'm scared of what I played like 30 minutes
Because same people made Witcher game
Cyberpunk is an absolutely fantastic game right now
i started a little bit i picked corpo background
What if super brutal?
Yeah, it can be rather brutal yes
I carried cold ||dying body|| and I said maybe no
There might be an option somewhere to reduce the gore/blood or something but not sure
But everyone says it's cool and I have disc
Oh uh. If that's too much for you to stomach, then you probably don't want to play it. Night City is not a nice place, and there's some absolutely terrible people in it
(...one quest in particular comes to mind
)
RDR might be better. Doesn't get quite as dark as Cyberpunk can, from what I know
Cyberpunk is a lot less ambitious as a story
It's more of an action game tha a RPG compared to the witcher
It's still very good don't get me wrong
As far as to how brutal the story is, I feel like of CDPR, nothing beats the ||demon fetus baby|| from witcher 3 for how raw the whole scele feels.
I dunno, the ||kidnap farm|| questline in cyberpunk is rather dark too
I usually forget most stuff when I play an open world type game especially any rpg as big as Cyberpunk but that questline I still remember, definitely dark enough to stand out
Though to be fair the game opens up with some pretty heavy stuff already too
Day 2 is happening soon
It's close but it was ||undermined for me by the fact that they chickened out and made all the kidnapped "kids" look like 30 years old||
If you made a ||dead fetus demon, you should have more balls than that CDPR||
Nintendo doing an interesting thing; they announced the end of service for AC Pocket Camp
However, instead of simply shutting down everything, they decided to sell an offline version with no additional purchase than the game itself that includes everything in the f2p app before
That's everything I ever wanted from people who make live service games
Deadlock is more like Dota 2 and Paladin combined
Oh and of course you can transfer your save and account

Beat the game in six hours or less, finding 40% or fewer of the items, dying no more than once, killing no bosses
Turns out even without an optimized route you can get a time of one or two hours
Those are all the speedrun achievements, so let's go ahead and do a slow run to get all the 100% achievements
Oh the game has an in-game speedrunning leaderboard
This time is #154
#90 if you count the low% category
This took... a lot. But mostly my sanity 🫠🚬

Patch Notice: Deadlock Update for the 4th of July 2024
Welcome to Patch Notice where I bring you the latest news and updates on the in development Valve title: Deadlock In this video we dive deep into the patch dropped on the 4th of July 2024.
What's New in this Deadlock Patch?
🟣 Item Changes and Overhauls Focusing on Split Pushing
🟢 Guard...
I can't fathom watching the mlp movie and then the sandlot immideatatly after
And... I'm already addicted to it
Well at least it isn't a straight 5v5 hero shooter
They are combining a moba into the mix which is definitely interesting
I was thinking about Concord today, and why it seems like devs think it's a good idea to pump out Overwatch clones now
I think it comes down to a misunderstanding as to why people liked OW
I feel like overall, if you look at the whole playerbase, people liked it despite the genre not because of it, and I say this because OW was played by a lot of people that generally don't bother with PVP competitive games.
could you elaborate? this is new to me
That's my impression at the time to be fair, but I clearly remember when OW 1 was released
So many people were playing it, and most of them weren't the kind of people to play a CSGO or even a TF2 type game
Yeah, the characters in Overwatch have mass appeal and the mechanics are simple and accessible
A huge drive was definitely the characters and the lore, I don't think people were playing because it was a 6v6 pvp kind of game
If anything I feel like the genre kept more people away than it attracted personally
Most people wanted more from that world and those characters than the gameplay ever was designed to give
Now developers and publishers are delivering a bunch of 5v5 hero shooters, and my gut feeling tells me that they don't understand that the success of overwatch was in spite of the genre, or at least neutral to its genre, not because of it
ah, so it was a proto-gacha game /s
Unironically a Genshin Impact with OW character would actually sell billions
Gacha games were around back then
a lot of it was and still is contained to eastern markets so it's hard to judge timelines, especially since I'm not into any of it
If anything OW lesson is that you can sell whatever genre you want if you managed to get the playerbase invested in your characters and your lore.
Not that hero shooters are very popular
I know lootboxes are omnipresent in western stuff now but I'm not sure gacha-like character gambling is, but I dunno how tied those terms are to any specific mechanic or focus
anyway, that much makes sense for OW
the genre definitely made me never give it a second glance
IDK maybe they thought that knock off Guardians of the Galaxy was enough to repeat that kind of magic for Concord, maybe when they started with it they didn't expect that super hero fatigue would be that bad by now
I would be curious to know when that game started development
that's rough
Hey at least Gollum became super famous
Yeah it has more players than Concord
Maaan, I remember the presentation with the pretty cool, and definitely expensive trailer they showed and then the dude comes in and go "concord is a 5v5 pvp shooter" and immediatly everyone that was interested tunes out.
Oh apparently in an interview the lead designer said it was in development for 8 years
This makes perfect sense
It's a great game to release 8 years ago
yeah... AAA success has such a huge element of timing, it's easy to see why there's so much pressure to make a whole game in only a year or a few years
8 years ago is exactly when ow released

Makes so much sense
surely the trend-chasing strat here is to make the smallest viable game in 1-2 years and build on it post-release
8 years feels dangerously long for almost any single game
Yeah, AAA games are too big and to compensate for the size publishers are simply going harder and harder for awful monetization
true, "build on it post-release" doesn't have to involve awful monetization, but that's the easy/greedy route to take
it's so weird to me because games passed the point where bigger is better well over a decade ago; one of the big reasons most AAAs don't appeal to me any more is so many of them seem far too big in ways that suck the fun out of the experience
AAA games are too big yet too common
SE makes a bunch of AA games that only takes a few years to develop, but they don't make up for the money they lose in the AAA space.
ironically I hear less about AA games than indie games, I think because the people making AAs are also making AAAs and throwing all their marketing at the latter?
AAA games nowdays are either first party titles that are made to sell consoles, or are basically rulette spins betting on 0 IMO.
Companies pour a bunch of money in the ""current"" fad in the hope it'll be a Fortnite or an Apex and they'll get back 10.000 times the money they put in, and if it doesn't most of the time it just fails and sink within a year.
yeah, which is of little interest unless you play Fornite or Apex or one of their direct competitors
Most of the time it's of little interest even if you play those games, because if you do you have invested several thousands hours in that game and it'd take something oustandly better to make you play something else
oh right these are also the lifestyle games
that concept is so alien to me that it keeps slipping my mind despite having seen people doing it several times
It happened to me with The First Descendant.
Game seems okay, played it a bit, but like...why play that when I already like warframe, and it seems just a more generic version of that with more tight gameplay

Wanna know the funniest part?
Deadlock has 60k players right now
The super super early alpha, very much still in development, nothing is final and everything still needs work game just destroyed this one game that's been cooking for 8 years
beats 100 missions in Magalorland
"Oh hey grats, here's 20 more that are unreasonably difficult"
Thaaaaanks Magalorrrrrr
I remember seeing my brother play through the Magalorland stuff and it just looked like tasks lol
like, add 3 new levels instead of 120 generic "missions"
I like the minigames, calling back to as far back as Adventure
It doesn't mean I like the tasks, lmao
whatever, helped me speedrun the battle pass and I got the cute Magalor attendant mask out of it
I tried Deadlock several days ago, I can't stop laughing that Valve trolled Epic Games
Because Epic Games closed Paragon, after many years Valve decided do MOBA in 3D
(If you want Deadlock invite, add in Steam, I will send invite)

To be fair Smite already did MOBA but in 3D for a while now, but it's interesting to have another one
and it looks kinda good actually
It's a lot less Overwatch clone than people had feared at first with the rumors and it's a lot more MOBA
Still, it's super super early in development, I hope people realize that when they make any criticisms because I already saw some people saying it looks rough, it looks generic, it looks unfinished (no shit) etc etc
A lotta stuff will change
There are rumors that stupid people in Blizzard wants return 6x6
I wish Blizzard won't do this

I wish they hadn't cancelled that survival game. Was curious to see blizz's take on that
Yeah but Deadlock has the valve name behind it, and is very much trying a unique version of the formula
Even the failed Valve card game had a very big player base on release simply because a bunch of people will at least check out what Valve is cooking at any point in time
Concord is also another one of those 'trend chasing' releases that the publisher decides on... half a decade or more after the trend boomed
So it was an uphill battle regardless. There's what, two 'current' pvp hero shooter games that are big at the moment? Valorant and Overwatch?
Well the publisher decided on it as the trend was still strong as we established
The problem is that it took 8 years
Suicide Squad, same issue, just looter shooter and waaaaaaaaaay too late
Suicide Squad is similar yeah, basically publishers that put devs that are really really good at making single player experiences into making co-op games so they can be live services and they can sell cosmetics on them
Avengers, that one platinum games everyone hates, Wolfestein New Blood, Redfall
All the same story
I wish Deadlock will succeed, because this can return Valve to be a game studio
It's just how they work as a company. Like, there's no specific teams that are assigned, it's more if people are interested in doing something, they experiment and plan it out, then get more folk on board. They work very differently than other companies
Not sure that’s pretty funny, lot of people worked for such a project only to be trashed because… uhm… what’s wrong with the game?
Oh right, its another live service game.
They’re more than a game studio, they’re not gonna just drop everything and do only video games if that’s what you wish.
Honestly I’m more shocked how gamers haven’t gotten bored with Mobas.

yeah it is interesting. Dota 1 held out for years and many folks transitioned to LoL or Dota 2. both games are still going super strong
What year was Dota 2 made coz
I've been hearing about Dota and Lol all my life I think
2013
I only know about Dota 2 because it has Lina Inverse in it.
https://dota2.fandom.com/wiki/Lina
I've seen this a while ago, maybe I should try it…
I'm no RTS fan so I tend to bounce off them, unfortunately. There's a surprising amount of quality open source offerings out there, like 0 A.D., Warzone 2100, Zero-K and so on
it's interesting how LoL and DOTA compare the same way Valorant does to CS. LoL/Valorant is the more approchable game, DOTA/CS is the purist hardcore one
it's like Unreal Tournament vs Quake, casual players tend to have a much better time on UT because of the lower skill ceiling (especially with movement – you can't bunnyhop in UT)
there are other reasons too (UT did more work to develop its lore than Quake), but that's the main reason
ooh I've just started playing BAR. it's fun, I've got a lot to learn still, especially about econ, but there's a lot of good guides on youtube to it
I've only played against bots so far, but if you want a hand in learning the game, feel free to ping/DM me
I'd recomend looking up a "basics guide to BAR" or something because the ingame tutorial basicaly doesn't exist.
I loved Zero K until I swapped to mac
I briefly tried BAR. Looks interesting but from what little I tried, balance seems off

TBH if they want to make mobile games of franchises, I don't really care either way.
It doesn't affect me.

Can't wait!
We're finally gonna see if the Keanu Reeves thing was real!
(Also, reportedly this may be Jim Carrey's last film.)
I'm not a sonic fan or keanu reeves fan, but I'd kill to hear him as Shadow
Everyone was nervous about a skinny Eggman, but hoooooo BOY did Jim give it his all, and he instantly became one of the best things of the Sonic franchise. In basically every interview after the first movie he kept telling people how much of a blast the role of Eggman is, and how much he loves it.
I enjoy him, I do feel like it isn't an especially original role for him, for how he plays it, there is more of Jim Carrey into the role than there is of Eggman, but it's also undeniably entertaining.
Also it's one of the few "Actually the villain is a 2010s techbro" that works instead of falling flat
i like the part where he dances
The fun thing is that he's playing himself as Jim Carrey, yet it still feels like Eggman from the jokey yet menacing vibes and also the quirkiness he gives off. That's Eggman to a T: immensely quirky, yet never makes you forget that he's the bad guy.
and, let's face it, Eggman's not a super deep character anyway, so "just Jim Carrey being himself" was probably the best move
If this is to be his last film I hope we do see the Fat Eggman as he said he’d be up for wearing a suit that would make him like that.
Shockingly, Sega is actually giving Ian Flynn the green light to make him deeper than he used to be.
Both in the comics and in the games
Also, I just realized that Sage is just "Sega" with the vowels switched.
GT what did you prefer 1 or 2
The movies? I prefered 2, it felt more "Sonic-y" with the adventure and the temples and lore. The first movie was really good too but it was more about the human world reacting to Sonic's presence.
Yeah 2 was good that they added the master emerald but would’ve been nice if Tikal was in it
Ehhhh, they were already throwing a lot of stuff into that movie, and they made it clear that this universe is different from the games and that the Master Emerald isn't the same one from the games, so it makes sense that Tikal wasn't there, because then we'd have to add in Chaos and the Chao, and that would've been waaaaaay too much for one film.
They're doing their own thing and doing it well, so I'm willing to look past some discrepancies and missing lore since it's not the same universe.
I wonder if there will be lots of Easter eggs in the movie from previous games
It's guaranteed.
If there's two things all Sonic games are good at (even the bad ones), it's music and Easter eggs. The only two exceptions I can think of are Sonic Chronicles (which isn't really "bad" gameplay-wise, but it had shit music) and the Sonic 1 remake on GBA. That thing suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucked.
i liked the first one cause i like road movies
In addition to this:
Just give us the name of the thing already, ya cowards
Remember Sanic in the first movie
Of course I do, lol
One of the best parts of the first movie, nobody was expecting it
I love how Sonic Team and Sega just completely embraced the memes of the franchise and ran with them.
Yup it was great to see them get into the memes. Wasn’t tails Doll in one of the movies? I can’t remember if they did that or not.
Nah, not in the memes, but he was really big in the Archie comics for a while.
Literally.
As in...literally. Really big.
I remember this one
I remember so many people freaking the f*ck out over it. It was sooooo hype, because at this point they had been teasing the Tails Doll for like 10 issues.
And then literally a few pages later the first Genesis Wave hit, launched the comic into Worlds Collide, and then that reset the world completely, though the Tails Doll was still there when they all got back.
NOT TAILS DOLL 😭

Well I mean
at this point it's not really healthy to expect Silksong in any announcement
Its best to assume it got cancelled.
It will simply...happen eventually
idk, there are conflicting contexts and evidences that it's hard to tell
i cannot believe they just casually went here's the DS castlevania games and arcade game and remake of said arcade game all releasing today
We need to permanently wear 🤡 to delay silksong even more
I might finally know what the battery level in my controller is now
Actually more
You can modify vibration, trigger deadzones, custom button assignments.
sure sure, whatever those are
back in my day your controller had one setting and you liked it
But its only for Windows devices of course. Linux users gonna need to still make their own solution, and Apple eaters will be told to pound sand.
It's good that these features are finally available for all Windows users instead of being restricted to Steam
Not a good time tbh.
which is kind of funny because I'm pretty sure the playstation runs off a custom linux thing
that may be
the US government's secret OS
unless microsoft removes the whole microsoft account thing, my next computer is going to be linux
Start learning Linux then
I mean, I'm currently on linux right now
it's my work laptop, I use it all the time
I literally switched my gaming laptop from 11 to Ubuntu after being incapable of using 11 without losing it.
losing what
I'm currently on linux mint, which is very windowish if you're familiar with windows
Had a mediocre experience with Mint, but Ubuntu was rock solid. Although did scare myself at one point, thankfully the machine is fine.
how so?
got a little too liberal with the rm command eh?
removed your whole harddrive, eh?
rm -r CPU it'll be fine
Mint was more angry with my expectations of stability. Some apps worked while others started breaking apart from the GUI.
Ubuntu for whatever reason themes stuff just right, maybe because they modified gnome to not be so painful to use.
oh GUI stuff
right. the graphic user interface. that interface. the interface for the people who like graphics. that interface.
Bypass Windows 11 Microsoft Account requirement on setup:
- Select language and region and keyboard layout
- On network select page, DO NOT connect to the internet. Unplug ethernet if you're using it, don't select a wifi network.
- Shift + F10 (Fn + Shift + F10 on some laptops) to open command prompt
- Input
oobe\bypassnro - Computer will restart setup process and now on network selection there will be an "I don't have internet" option and you can continue without an account. Make sure you connect to a network once you get to desktop because also without a network some Windows stuff is missing until the computer is networked.
Yes, it is literally in Geek Squad SOP when we set up new computers lol
great.
now I have to fucking decide on linux or just bypassing windows
THANKS A LOT PROFESSOR cries
I suppose there's no reason I can't have... many harddrives
It works but you are still gonna get shoved down fifty layers of “please use Microsoft services”
But yeah, the option is there.
Yes it will still give screens like "Are you SURE you don't want to connect? You'll miss out on xyz!"
time to buy a mobo that can support multiple of those m2 drives
But you can continue past those
FREE 2 MONTH TRIAL OF MICROSOFT 365!
“What do you say buddy?”
I need to get one of those mobos like they have in star trek, where all the m2 drives are just these glass rgb things that you can plug in and out
Be VERY careful with dual booting Windows and Linux tho.
yeah I heard windows is kind of getting spicy about it
technically this is a dual boot computer but I never use the windows side
I discovered a few months ago that you can make powerpoint presentations online so I have no real reason to log into that part of the harddrive anymore
We also have SOP on removing the godawful S-Mode they put on shitty budget computers
Windows that prevents installation of anything not from the Microsoft Store
They say it's for "speed, safety, and security"
Store
i went with the easy way of separate hard disks for ubuntu and windows
It stands for Store mode
Which, yes, I guess, but it also gets in the way of a lot of use cases of even the budget users who are picking up the $300 laptops
that's kind of what I'm thinking
two m2 drives
one for linux, one for windows
plus storage drives and the like
its fairly smooth that way
although im thinking i might split up my windows drive into two partitions since i only use it once in a blue moon
my current mobo technically has two m2 slots but one of them is kind of blocked by the gpu
S-mode can be removed by logging into a Microsoft account, heading to Activation in settings, then hitting "Get" in "Switch out of S-Mode". This will open up a page on the Microsoft Store that will warn you about making your computer less safe. Switch out anyway and your license will change to a regular Home license.
You can also get rid of S-Mode without a Microsoft account by editing the registry
one issue I ran into with linux mint is that apparently newer cpus don't always have the, uh, drivers or whatever for linux? so sometimes it's delayed
I had to use the linux mint debian version rather than the normal version
Oh this is cool. Some guy on reddit made this calendar of september releases. https://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/1f2gyp9/my_friends_and_i_made_a_calendar_of_upcoming/

The CWA, under which the Raven Software employees formed their union, initially expressed support of Microsoft's $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. "It is a new day for workers at Activision Blizzard," it said when the acquisition went through.
Things have seemingly turned sour, however, though it could be a while before the National Labor Relations Board makes its verdict.
I mean, the entire thing was sour to begin with. But everyone was delirious into shoving it back to Sony.
And effectively the Xbox brand is more dead than ever before ironically enough. The incentive of becoming an Xbox user is astronomically low.

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos remaster announced for consoles, PC alongside Argonaut Games revival https://t.co/mIh5lZshxe
Slate of classic Argonauts Games IP and "exciting new titles" planned for both current and retro game platforms
Croc 2 is way better than Croc 1
I think it might be coming as a bundle if not then separately.

Croc: Legend of the Gobbos was... okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. It was a pretty average 3D platformer. After reviewing it, I decided that it wasn't worthy of being called a hidden gem. But Croc wasn't ready to quit his video game career just yet! Not too long after the release of Legend of the Gobbos came Croc 2. The original game fe...

I wish Steam detected SAM use and prevented you from getting achievements in that game again
it breaks achievement statistics, which are important data for developers
I prefer it this way, personally.
If it were to detect SAM use and allow developers to run statistics without it, that would be fine by me too
But stop it entirely? Probably not
one way to detect SAM on the developer's end is to have a (virtually or literally) impossible achievement and see how many people get it anyway
but it prevents legit players from 100%ing
Yeah, or they can just have achievements that are not possible to get together

I had a dream this morning where I was playing a Civilization-type game and monopolized all of the tin during the Bronze Age. That made me think that a Neolithic and Bronze Age grand strategy or city builder (and given the time period those are not actually completely distinct) game could be really fun and educational.
I think the biggest problem is that we know so little, relatively speaking, of those cultures
Ea-nasir memes are pretty much all we have to go on /s
Like europe had a brozen age, and we have archeological evidence from that period, obviously
It’s a game 🤷♂️
but we also call the cultures shit like 'bell beaker' culture because we have no idea what they called themselves, if they called themselves anything, or anything about their religion or anything
Imperator:Rome ran into that issue. A lot of the tribes in places that weren't conquered or civilized just weren't as well known, if at all. They couldn't give the vast majority of those tribes anything that stood out, with names being rare.
to be clear, I'm not saying it's a bad idea, it's just going to be a real pain in the ass

In practice I was thinking mostly about the Fertile Crescent and maybe Egypt as the setting, perhaps some bordering areas like Greece, the Indus Valley, or maybe the Danube Valley. Definitely a constrained area so you don’t have to do much with very undocumented areas.
People are not happy with Gearbox's RoR2
Yeah, I felt it was a bad idea to make it 3D to begin with
Honestly, RoR2 and the first DLC, Survivors Of The Void, were really good. But the new DLC, Seekers Of The Storm, broke a lot of the good qualities.
That's... Unfortunate
Last DLC broke a lot of what made the game work a bit.
What can't be fixed is the Borderlands movie, so Gearbox is taking two L's here.
what did they break in the newest DLC?
oh jeez
I was just playing a run where the teleporter spawned inside of a crate. Out of the countless hours I've played the game, the teleporter has never even clipped through a wall.
they really messed up the core functions huh
Yep.
They made many very basic mistakes
And messed with the code base hard
This happens when you hand things off to a new team without doing due diligence
Are we sure it was a new team and not internal folks fucking with it on purpose to make a point?
Yes
Gearbox is now the developer of Risk of Rain 2, and Hopoo games are no longer involved
Randy Pitchford said he claims full responsibility for this failure and said that this sort of thing happens sometimes, comparing himself to the Beatles.
The deltatime thing should be fine in modern Unity.
The last picture's mistake is just inexcusable and can only happens if you hand the project to inexperienced devs with no oversight
In November 2022, Gearbox Entertainment acquired the Risk of Rain IP. Hopoo Games remains an independent studio. Hopoo now states that they are working on other games and projects.
I stand corrected.
yikes
It's really incredible that Randy Pitchford still has a job in this industry
what 😭
He just keeps failing upward and there's nobody who can stop him
its even more incredible that he has the fucking balls to compare himself to the Beatles
"i made huge, franchise damaging mistakes! im like the BEATLES!"
I get why Bobby Kothic was where he was, he kept his mouth shut most of the times, and made an unfathomable amount of money to Blizzard.
On top of that he was a great lightning rod to attract criticism of the company onto himself.
But to me, Pitchford especially in the last 7-8 years, seems like the exact opposite.
Massive liability, seems like an Olympic champion of stepping on metaphorical rakes, sometimes he place the rake himself before steeping on it, and the decision he takes for the company seem to just not really work out that well for its bottom line...
Why is he still there?

Grant Kirkhope voiced DK?
not just in this instance, but in 17 fucking games?
He not only made the music for those games, but had a prominent voice-over role as well?
This looks......kinda weak for special edition
i mean considering these days special editions are like just a dlc season pass and a cosmetic, its not too bad
meanwhile in my world the closest thing to a "special edition" is buying the game when it's not on sale
I mean kinda yeah , but first thing is that quad damage statue was not only sold separately before but also came in quake ultimate edition and the second thing is that people say that its made out cheap , thin and noisy plastic
it does look cheap as shit
I played it yesterday too
but not like THAT
I remember seeing Kevin Bayliss being credited as voicing James Bond in GoldenEye 007, even though he only has a single voice line where he gasps after taking damage

I don't think I've ever listened to cod soundtrack before
It is interesting, and I bet it's a great game, but due to personal reasons and ethical reasons I will not consider it.
Do you want to say what you mean by ethical
AAA games are very bad for the industry
They manipulate players and aim for greedy short term profit over anything else
60 USD for the base game, then another 40 USD for a season pass, and maybe a battle pass along there with a sprinkle of MTX.
I don't know if I can talk though, I ended up re-installing a game that treat's its players pretty bad. I just wanted to play that particular flavour of gameplay, and there's nothing in the space other than that title for what I was after.
What if I play in subscription and don't buy micro transactions
like Game Pass?
Yeah
I mean, not buying MTX is good for your wallet. You get a better value proposition in-terms of games available for your money.
However, you end up filling the servers as a normal player, so that other people can see the value in purchasing MTX. if that makes sense?
When the servers are full, someone who's buying is more likely to buy lots because they know the game is popular, they can show off their skins, and they have people to play against.
The MTX gains value because there are lots of non-MTX-buying players.
By playing the game at all, you're still allowing the game to thrive and manipulate other players.
Wow that's weird
yeah, it's strange to think about, but that's how all those F2P games work too
for every 1000 F2P players, the game seems more worth it for a P2P player to put more money into it
like, Fate Grand/Order. It's fanbase is huge right?
most of those folks are F2P, but you wouldn't know it from the content creators showing off their pulls
or "200 rolls to get X Unit"
videos
and all the fan buzz and hype makes the people who do pay feel like it's more justified
"All theses folks love the game, surely it's ok to put in another 100$ to get the character I want*"
( It's litterally a gamble, so they might not even get them then)
with Black Ops 6 in particular, it looks like the Gobble Gums ( the consumable boost for Zombies mode) will be purchasable, which basically makes that mode a pay 2 win mode. Opt in pay 2 win, but still
I always thought Zombies are like local or friend multiplayer only, and cooperation
You don't have to be playing against people for a game mechanic to be pay 2 win.
It's like the old "start with better gear in PvE game" pre-order bonuses
Hit the ground running in Zombies with GobbleGums, enhancing your fight against the undead with a variety of consumables that grant distinctive in-game bonuses or effects. Stay tuned for more details about the Vault Edition GobbleGum Pack.
in Black Ops 6 case, there is also a pre-order bonus
I'm sure there'll be a way to earn them in game too, but I'm also sure there'll be a way to pay to buy them outright.

Or maybe they don't sell special edition anymore

From their blurry infographic, it looks like you get some nonsense plus "Bank robbery mission & gang hideout"
Frankly, if that's the best they can do to market a $40 price increase then I think I'm all set
bank robbery sounds cool though .....
looking it up it sounds shit
just get the cheaper one
$40 for some fluff shoehorned in
ok i trust your judgement
red dead redemption 2
the A-Press jokes never end
complete editions are generally best bought for mod support... if no mods need it, then don't buy it

Today, we have an exciting update: Duncan and Paul, alongside many other talented members at Hopoo Games, will now be working on game development directly at @valvesoftware !
We're incredibly grateful to Valve for their partnerships in the last decade, and are excited to continue working on their awesome titles. However, this does mean that we are stopping production on our unannounced game, "Snail".
There's a steam sale today

Very interesting premise, widely regarded as polished and cleverly designed
I almost want to remove it from my wishlist because I'm not interested enough
But maybe I'll wait until it's three dollars
I can vouch for it being pretty good, as long as you're okay with it being all puzzles and no combat/platforming/etc (with one exception that's probably the game's weakest part)
Yeah
I'll keep it in my wishlist and wait for a bigger discount.
Next up is https://store.steampowered.com/app/1436590/?

Kinda interesting platformer, but it's not getting discounts as big as I'd like as quickly as I want
I think I'll drop this one

Is this game actually a good twist on Stardew Valley or did I just get it because it had a cat in the capsule art?
Probably the latter, but I think I'll still keep it because the art is really cute
I removed five other unremarkable items and kept one
There is also https://store.steampowered.com/app/254320/Duskers?

Very interesting but I don't think I have the energy to play it any time soon
fwiw I have this on my list to try eventually, haven't gotten to it
Yeah I saw you had it but didn't play it
Quidditch Champions has no micro transactions
This is one
A lot of AAA games launch with no microtransactions and then add them later when they have a player base
Yeah, that is a trap.

Not even 2 weeks later
Absolutely absurd
holy shit
2 weeks and already going offline
This is now one of the biggest failures ever.
Bigger than ET!
ET even fucking sold
Full refunds too wtf
I don’t think it should be even re-released.
There is absolutely no demand for this kind of genre.
Its a shame because the gameplay is good from what I hear, and the characters are nice. But people began to hate at the price tag which is fair but the focus was more on… the characters… which is baffling.
All because of the characters look.
Eugh
But yeah I’m surprised Overwatch 2 hasn’t died either.
They were probably operating in the RED
sony actually paid (I'm assuming) to have Concord put into that Secret Level show too
At this point the devs are either gonna get fired/layoffs or maybe Sony will actually restructure itself.
I pick on the former.
sure seems like it won't be, LOL
Omg
You can still buy the controller.
This is crazy how short concord lasted
Wasn't it in development for like 8 years
yes
Oof
The game looked decent tbh but just failed to find its audience and all the controversy certainly didnt help
Maaan that is rough
I mean it'll probably go free to play, maybe it'll recoup some money, I kinda doubt they'll throw more money after it in an attempt to overhaul it
It might just never come back up again
My guess they had to take it down and refound everyone because they did promise 3 seasons of content and they didn't want to spend the money to make it happen
It literally costs less to refound everyone than actually running the game for 3 seasons for 25k players at best
it is weird to me that there's a whole micro-industry in keeping mostly failed MMOs/live service games technically alive in free to play mode so they can keep bringing in non-zero income with minimal effort
Thing is, if they take up until december to release this in F2P, they'll have Marvel Rivals to condend with
oh Marvel's doing this again
Rivals seem to have some legit hype behind it to be fair
That one might carve a nichè
But they have a strong brand to lean on
People that made concord must be so sad right now
The devs probably knew how it was going to end up. It's the purse-holders at the very top who keep making the decisions and ruining games, and avoiding repercussions
https://x.com/Zutcha/status/1831051830111182921 doing more 7 days with zutcha
this is somehow worse than the game that announced its launch and its cancellation in the same tweet

bandori lives on
@dusty star maybe you should play with your friends instead of strangers.
tried that already 😦
Unfortunately we don't know you enough to let you advertise that game here
Huh, apparently a 2TB Xbox Series X is on the way
I find this as I seriously consider getting an Xbox to make full use of GamePass
Wouldn't need this 2TB version though
I mean, with how big games are getting these days, you might.
they are this big already,i think they already got there
Also a white disc-free version
doesnt it technically also have worse specs?
oh nvm thats still series X,i thought it was S
Nope they just yoinked the disc drive and knocked off 50 dollarydoos
Yeah this is a new variant coming out
Which doesn't have much use considering
if i wasnt so far into pc already i probably would have yoinked that instantly
It's been "on sale" for that price for months
It's super cheap for machine like this I think
Can do many OG and 360 games, all XONE and XBSX games, and all retro, and PC games in cloud with GFN
I may be stupid a bit but I know some gaming stuff
for just gaming yeah its p good
And for work if it's supported by chromium browser
eeehh for work i would not rely on an xbox,at best maybe in an emergency
Well I mean it can do it
I think she means if you're playing at work you can stream using any Chromium-based browser
Not necessarily using the Xbox for work
Or maybe I'm wrong
No i meant like office and all browser work a bit
Oh right it can do that
