You could wait until it's no longer new
Oh hey, even better:
I could, yeah...Owlcat does sometimes put out bigger sales after a few years.
I remember Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous going on sale for like 70% off a couple times.
https://steamdb.info/app/2186680/ for price history
This game has been the same price back in May
and April
You can also see all of the developer's games here https://steamdb.info/developer/Owlcat+Games/?sort=discount_desc
(check "show only historical lows")
Ahhh, now THIS is a deal. I've been meaning to pick this one up once it was on sale:
It's a good time
Not much else in this Steam sale that I'm really interested in, except for Ara Fell, another indie JRPG I've been meaning to get (I actually whitelisted it last night because I realized that the sale was today, so I decided to see if it would go on sale, and it did).
Whats undertale doing in your touhou

Doesn't sound like a good game
Her model is cute
im browsing the gmod workshop
Ngl, do wish there was better filtering.
i don't think my computer can run this map lmao
Steam has recommended me a lot of weird stuff lately lol.
I don’t think the game itself can without slowdown
Same. Its run out of mainstream stuff so im getting indies
There's a lot of indie games that aren't weird
https://fxtwitter.com/culturecrave/status/1806397621264957847? Wonder which ones.
Curious, I wonder why they decided to go with remakes. Easy money I suppose?
Of course, it's always about easy money
And in typical money hungry mindset fashion the fact that there's multiple remakes on the way at the same time tells me everything I need to know
Not even waiting to see if a single remake ends up good or if people even care for it at all, just do it all at the same time and release it all now
AAA companies cant make good games anymore
they don't call it AAA because it's triple A
but because seeing the industry makes you go AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

there are genuinely lots of great games out there, jsut not from AAA devs
what do you mean? I love all the modern improvements. Helldivers 2 for example wouldn't have been doable previously.
HD2 is insane tho
So is BG3, or DOOM 2016, or ELDEN RING, etc etc
true
there's a lot of good AAA releases, there's just also way more terrible ones too
im not sure if helldivers is AAA? theyre a company of 100 people AA maybe
tho thats me being pedantic, the AAA meaning is dumb and vague
They got funding from SONY, and their game dictated to by SONY, so it might as well be AAA given how SONY runs it.
Single player gaming is awesome right now as long as you're careful about how you spend your money. Multiplayer is a can of worms
There never were truly good days where no type of money-focused behavior wasn't happening, even during the time of arcades and coins for lives games were usually very tough and hard precisely to get you to give the arcade more money
It's not really a case of AAA being unable to make good games anymore because that's just not true there's a ton of incredible new AAA games, it's just there's a hell of a lot more bad leadership in these companies as of late and it's only getting worse and worse until eventually it'll be too much and we'll probably only have indies
way too many people in charge that are way too disconnected with the medium and have no idea what they're doing and they only see the numbers and want number to go up, unfortunately that's just business
Most gaming companies only care about their shareholders now. Games today are still made with passion but years ago it was bigger.
and unfortunately the incredible devs that would love to put out some AAA gems aren't really in positions where they have much of a say, a majority of devs don't even know if they'r gonna be laid off midway through a project nowadays
What are some of your all time faviourites Nire?
Let's try Cobalt Core
The only companies I can think of right now that aren't actively burning down right now are Nintendo as a whole, Capcom and Fromsoftware, Capcom's going through a pretty good era right now but that's after a pretty bad one during the 2010s
favourite what?
Games.
That's a little too broad of a question to reply casually
Resident Evil, DMC and Metal Gear Solid to name a few I guess
Did you play the MGS remakes?
Well there's only the one so far but no I actually never played that one I chose to play the original MGS
Ah right. Was it the original you had to switch memory card slots to beat the final boss?
You had to switch the controller from player 1 to player 2 to beat one of the bosses
Ah yeah
Fun game. Weirdly has aged very well despite looking how it does
Kojima
The voice acting and cutscenes are very cinematic
The one franchise that continously gets memed on for being a ''interactive movie'' yet is one of the few franchises that utilizes the videogame medium to the fullest everytime
Can't think of any other franchise off the top of my head where to progress the game one of the characters straight up tells you ''yeah just look in the back of the CD case''
The PS2 port fucked this part up
no it didn't
Serious Sam was the first AAAAAAAAAAAAAA game.
That's not the case that's the box!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!;!!
True but the games are part of a set so you're supposed to see the box first instead of the case of the individual games
PS1 games in PAL land were in square boxes, that's what I associate to the term "CD case"
as opposed to rectangular DVD-style boxes in Japan/USA IIRC
(or Japan at least?)
There was a good moment?
You're supposed to get the radio frequency from the screenshot on the back
whoa
Unless I'm wrong and not understanding, isn't this just the difference between PS1 CD cases and PS2 ones? I've always just had the PS1 cases as square boxes, the rectangular ones were PS2
Yeah USA had CD cases for PS1 but DVD cases for PS2, even when the PS2 game was on a CD
I like this game
The one in the picture earlier isn't in a square cd case because it's the PS2 port from the PS2 MGS collection, that's why it comes in a new DVD style case instead of the older more boxy ps1 style
Now hc. These are gonna be AAAA games for real this time
Skull and bones was totally not a failure
It's Slay the Spire but cute and for babies
https://fxtwitter.com/DidTF2GetUpdate/status/1806119708686733584
also unrelated but someone destroyed their 2011 Saxxy
But why
They said they don't play tf2 anymore and 'cashed out'
bruhhhhhh
I mean i can see why
I fucking cna't
Valve failed to fix tf2 the first time.
They probably don’t want to bother again trying and just let it die.
So then they you can move to CS2 or whatever they decide to make next
it would obviously be a huge huge endeavor but I do think best thing for TF2 would be a source 2 port like CS2 but I doubt it's gonna happen
not only is "the good days" an overly simplistic framing that casually ignores all of the amazing games that have been coming out the last few years... honestly, for me gaming is probably better than it's ever been, now that technology has improved and consolidated and discoverability has shot way up to the point where I can pretty much play anything I want from any era on a single device and there are always more good games to try in whatever genre I'm in the mood for that I can acquire often within literal minutes
what does seem to be true in recent years is the highest budget projects (not just any AAA, but the AAA flagships trying to get your attention) becoming increasingly unsustainable and misguided, but that's more than balanced out by the indie explosion
The good old days are happening right now
speaking of which, time to play more Nine Sols
favorite sol so far?
Wario
oh right I need to look up the English names since they're different in Japanese for some reason
oh, well, then Setzusen is easily my favorite boss fight of the year, not just this game
Nice
(and I chose not to use the item that would make the fight easier)
Asides from certain specific issues like maybe the rapid disappearance of physical media and a lot of things that come with that (when was the last time you browsed some Xbox/PS games at a store and went to a midnight release of a game with other people?) gaming really is in the best spot right now
Have you ever gone to a midnight release for a game
I have not, since until recently I would never be in a position to start playing the game properly right after midnight
I was actually just gonna say, to be completely fair that's never been an experience I personally had lol but I know it was a common shared experience for gamers in the 2000s (I was barely conscious at the time)
I thought Nire was like 8 years younger than me and Im too young to have gone to a midnight release when it was relevant
I always got my games on random fairs in the street and cyber cafes, probably all pirated for sure
I think there are a lot of so-called "common experiences" like this which simply never happened to me, and even for those who liked them I don't think they're gone but just different now that basically all games are digital instead
I'm 20
he shoots he scores
The equivalent of that nowadays would be talking about it on Twitter or discord
this is news? also please don't interrupt conversations with huge embeds
We were talking about it earlier with nire so kinda
oh, I thought I was keeping up with the log but I don't remember that at all (might've been a good case for a pingless reply?)
Yeah probably my bad
anyway I think the biggest "common experience" that never actually happened for me is couch co-op
I've simply never been in the same physical space as people who wanted to play the same games that had a co-op option
Same
No, the games are just as good later so I buy them when convenient
ironically more common is me and a friend voice chatting while one of us streams a single player game and we both discuss it
oh speaking of which
Nire: Tale and I just finished Rule of Rose today
rule of rose it's been ages since I've even thought about that game
that game is weird, on every level
yup
I remember the game had a bit of controversy because it was banned in a few places, Australia mainly I think
OoT Randomizer - Accessible Tournament Season 2 - Bracket Stage
Bracket: https://challonge.com/zsrootrspring19
-- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/zeldaspeedruns
but anyways it's a pretty underrated survival horror gem even if it is a bit weird
OoT randomizer accessible tournament has been a good watch
I think for me Rule of Rose is in kinda the same place as Haunting Ground, some very interesting ideas and I'm glad I played it, but also quite a few issues with both gameplay and story bringing it down, so overall mixed feelings
Yeah it's in that same level, it's still a gem because I think it's worth playing just once and it has really really interesting ideas for the genre and is overall just really unique, but they're no masterpieces
Definitely both are underrated games for a reason I feel
I don't think I would've gotten through either without the modern ability to look at a walkthrough whenever something got annoying
Hah, you want another survival horror PS2 gem that suffers greatly from that? Play the Siren games
lol
I guess if you wanna try another weird obscure ps2 survival horror at some other point you could try Kuon
Fun fact this is the most expensive rarest PS2 game
I never played this one so I wouldn't know what to tell you about it, I just watched a Nitro Rad video about it ages ago
(spoiler, it's not a very good game
)
I think if the survival horror bug gets me again I'm more likely to look around for more recent indie titles (I know they can't all be Crow Country but), or maybe replay Silent Hill 3
(yes I watched Liam Triforce's SH video, which rekindled the whole "you didn't properly appreciate SH3" narrative)
I wanted to watch that video but I saw most of the video was about SH2 and it turned me off because I've already seen a million videos about how SH2 is a masterpiece for a lifetime
SH3 really is underappreciated in my eyes at least
it is funny how seemingly every time I bump into a girl who loves survival horror they're more on the Resident Evil side of things, and Silent Hill 3 instead gets advocated for mostly by people going "it's not all about SH2 you know"
''Unfortunately'' it's because SH2 kind of gets all the attention everytime SH is brought up so it's a bit impossible not to mention
I didn't realize doing that was more common than I thought
well part of it's probably who I talk to / watch on youtube
heck "most gamers" these days probably haven't played a single SH because the series has been nothing special since 3
Silent Hill also has a weird problem where SH2 was so different that all other subsequent games get criticized for not being like it, a lot of people really downplay SH1 and SH3 (and 4, if they remember it exists) because ''oh those games are about a boring cult and not about deep psychological themes''
Which then led to all the other SH games trying really really hard to be SH2 again
to be fair, I do find cults painfully boring, which absolutely hurt 1 and 3 for me
Which is fair, but without going into a full video essay rant there is more going on in 1 and 3 than 'just' a cult, especially 3
3's cult at least sounds interesting after someone made a video essay explaining wtf it did besides be inexplicably evil and of course [redacted]
iirc a lot of the information to make it interesting is too easy to miss, or too late in the game
3 has the benefit of combining the best aspects of 1 and 2, 1 has a lot more going for it than people give it credit for, but comparing it to modern games it's obviously gonna be dated in some aspects and I feel like it's worth remembering that SH1 is one of the games that pioneered having a lot more focus on story and being cinematic in games like MGS1 did at the time so it's worth remembering that, at the time, it was pretty groundbreaking, so of course it feels underwhelming now
yeah, some great things just inevitably age and that's okay
even in SH2 it's easy to poke at some line deliveries that don't sound very natural (and not necessarily on purpose)
The funny thing is most of the 'younger' SH audience now are probably more familiar with those 'not special' games than the original 3/4, with the exception of 2, i've seen a surprising number of people defending and praising games like Homecoming and Origins (hell, some even say Book of Memories isn't that bad) because those are the ones they played and the ones that were available at the time
to be fair, I've never played or watched the games after 3 in their entirety, so I can't actually judge them, I only have secondhand opinions from other people's videos (some of which are thorough enough I trust them, but still)
You're making it hard for me not to dedicate the next hour or two to rant about Silent Hill
the 'bad' voice acting of SH2 in retrospect really ended up being way better for that game, the performances on the remake for example feel too professional and less natural in a way comparing the scenes that were shown, for a bunch of non professional random VAs they ended up doing a pretty good job, I still will absolutely say that some of the performances were totally intentionally weird, Mary for example had an incredible VA both as Mary and Maria
Warside cuts to the core of what made classic turn-based-tactics games so great. Ooo. Advanced wars style game
Mary/Maria did have the best VA in the game - it was a huge standout for me
You can also play https://awbw.amarriner.com/
I never really thought about it, but now that you mention it, that letter read alone makes her the clear winner for me too
Monica Taylor Horgan, she also did the motion capture as did the other VAs I think too, she was definitely the best VA out of that game and one of the best VAs in any game I would say, I still have to find a single person that did not feel even just a little bit moved from the letter reading at the end
Silent Hill 3 in my opinion has the best performances overall, both voice acting and in terms of character expression, I'm still not entirely convinced they didn't pull some witchcraft to pull off the kind of expressions they pulled off in that game, it feels way too advanced for 2003
Yeah it's pretty tops
https://youtu.be/TQKJVstLwWA?si=HiDp5ymXol3owcnL
This is one of my personal favourite moments from her in the game too
From Silent Hill 2.
Full cutscene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IqS37-Z-yk
I did really enjoy James's VA too, but I think it could've been improved upon
He just has a nice voice that fits the character
I think it's also that James' character is also explored more through actions and implications than directly in dialogue, for obvious reasons
while Mary relies almost entirely on the VA and mocap
Both of the newer VAs for James make the same mistake when voicing him and it's that they feel too cool, Troy Baker didn't fit James at all in the HD collection and in the remake the really soft tone of voice he has and his really aloof way of speaking isn't there anymore so it gives off a way different vibe, he's got this little gruff in his voice that makes him feel too much like the protagonist
I think the newest one is better than Troy Baker at least
I didn't like Baker's performance at all
At least the new one sounds like they're trying to capture the vibe of the original dialogue
I still find it funny that in Matt McMuscles' video about the HD collection one of the developers (specifically a texture artist) pretty much fully confirmed that the HD collection was put together with sticks and glue and rushed as hell on top of them simply not being experienced enough to tackle a project like that (oh, and also, of course, Konami only provided unfinished beta versions of the games)
Surprised the hd collection never got a pc port
I feel like it comes across in the voice acting too, it's way too... inconsistent? in quality
Though given how bad it was received in can see why
yeah, it sucks that for most people the only way to "properly" play SH 1-3 is through emulation
which is easy for me but I know I'm in the minority on having all that set up already
Sh2 and 3 had PC ports already, but I think that by 2012 they were already considered 'abandonware' and were terribly outdated and you would be lucky to actually officially buy one
The only ''og'' SH that is actually pretty accessible is SH4 on GOG
lol
Yeah I was surprised to see that on there
Part of that is konami lost the source code to 2 and 3
So they had to work with the inferior hd collection ports which were beta builds themselves
Yeah, we all know by this point, at least I hope so, since it's pretty well documented
A lot of people though ignore the fact that Konami still handed this important project to an extremely unprepared and inexperienced team and didn't give them any proper budget or time to work on it at all
That being said. fans did a pretty good job keeping sh2 updated with the fan patch project
Sh3 also has a fan patch but not as extensive
It was set for failure and it was a time where Konami had stopped trying, they almost explicitly lost interest in games and wanted to do pachinkos and mobile games until now where they, mind you, once again, came out with a bunch of SH projects all at once and of varying quality
Budget yes, but time? Didn't they spend like 2 years on it?
speaking of which, what's the latest on... 2R and f?
If I'm not mistaken 2012 which was the year where SH had died had: the HD collection, Book of Memories, SH downpour, and the SH 3D movie
Were working on it
"Silent Hill The Movie" is such a funny phrase to me because Jacob's Ladder basically already is that (I did watch it btw)
Basically waiting until after sh2 remake to hear anything
And Jacob's Ladder is Actually Good
Where did you get 2 years from?
My memory
2R is coming out soon, SHf.... I guess Konami stopped caring about it
it was revealed to me in a dream
it's weird how often a game gets announced and then we hear nothing for years
at this point I don't even understand why they announce a game if it's not almost ready to ship
I at least remember Tom Huelett saying something about how the HD collection took as long to develop as Silent Hill 2 originally did
(well, other than indie games that need early access funding to finish it, but even they have a shippable core experience)
Elder scrolls 6 would like a word with you
Its been 6 years since that btw
From interviews, the original intended time they were given was months to finish the project, they had to spend more than a year on it because it was just impossible to finish in that timeframe, remember they had to not only remaster the game but essentially rebuild the games before starting the remastering process
https://www.relyonhorror.com/in-depth/went-wrong-silent-hill-hd-collection/
this is the comment from the texture artist I mentioned earlier
Not a single person who worked on this has said anything positive about the experience
You want to know the funniest part? Silent Hill F is supposed to be the next main Silent Hill entry
whatever "main" means at this point
And yet it's the one project we know the least about and 2 of the newest projects came out before it
and I still can't believe out of all these new projects they decided to open with Ascension of all things
a product so bad people still theorize if it was actually just AI generated
Silent Hill Frenchfries
Main is when the game contains pyramid head
I love how the maker of pyramid head hates him now
the use of Pyramid Head in later games makes it so obvious how many people have no idea wtf that character was supposed to be in the original
(tbf it's not clear until fairly late in SH2 but still)
he's just like a big guy isn't he
He wont work on another project unless theres no pyramid head or he can kill him off
Are you aware of the popular Masahiro Ito tweet where he says, and I quote, ''I fucking regret creating Pyramid Head''
is this a serious question?
ye
oh jeez
Just play the game bro
His purpose only makes sense for the story in silent hill 2
yeah I don't know if it's possible to answer that properly without playing the game
does he have insane symbolism or something
Yes
I guess the really short version is that he represents James Sunderland's greatest sin
Yes that is exactly it
hold on
which is why so many aspects of PH's design and encounters mean everything in SH2, and nothing in any other game
The one cool thing about Short Message is that Ito took it as a chance to specifically not make Pyramid Head and do something new and it's actually a pretty good creature design (just unfortunately attached to a mediocre experience)
Silent hill f new villian. Square head.
The nemesis of pyramid head
He's a character that only works within the story of SH2, but he became really popular, so Konami used him as a mascot and reused him again in other projects where he shouldn't be in
no it would be cube head
Or sphere head
he has a cool design
Yes this is very true
I'm mad that F is the one game I'm the most excited about and Konami refuses to acknowledge it exists, it actually looks like it might be decent, good, even!!
But yeah. If you want more context I recommend either playing the game or watching a video explaining the story
Oh and Townfall, that one might actually be good too, it's being developed by the people that made Stories Untold and that's one cool strange unique game
I should probably emphasize the "and encounters" part: many aspects of Pyramid Head not only require SH2, but they require the specific scenes in SH2 where you encounter him, e.g. the initial introduction from the other side of the prison bars (those bars are themselves a recurring symbol) followed by [redacted], and of course much later in the game how the entire scene with 2 PHs plays out and why there's a 2nd one there at all, much less why ||they kill themselves at the end||
The funniest/saddest thing that I totally didn't expect to actually happen but in retrospect of course it was gonna be a thing Konami would do is that SH2R not only has pre-order special joke costumes, one of them is || Pyramid Head's helmet made out of pizza boxes, because subtlety and subtext are for cowards ||
to be fair, I'm fine with that as a silly post-game unlockable
I'm not even mad that those exist to be fair, but at least, I don't know, don't put it on your new teaser/showcase for the game
or at least keep it secret until the game comes out, it's kind of a big deal story wise
ah I see what you mean
You're not gonna find me complaining about silly unlockables, this is still my favourite one
https://youtu.be/ZiJpBpv2TgU?si=w6bOVfG-IasOK0yf
Sexy beam shuppatsu!
I think another element to the Pyramid Head "discourse" is that people who have no idea what he means in SH2 might go "oh this guy looks cool" while those of us who are familiar with the story of SH2 and how PH fits into it cannot react to that sentiment in any way other than "you do NOT want to be that guy, oh god why would you ever want to be within the same zip code as that guy"
ok i'll brb im gonna watch Vinesauce Vinny's playthrough so i can participate in the conversation just give me roughly 11 hours
enjoy your trauma
(and presumably forgetting the full spoiler plot summary I wrote for you that one time
)
me forgetting something should not be a surprise
yep, hence "presumably"
Oh they know for sure
they just don't care because ''he's so cool bro!!''
It's a little too late for that, PH is a mascot now, that's why Masahiro Ito hates having created him so much
Reading all of this just makes me more sure that Silent Hill was an accident, never really meant to be popular.
Its so odd how many folks talk about SH2 and SH3, but not SH1.

What did SH1 do?
I think it's because most people who like SH1 generally agree that either 2 or 3 (or both) did the things they like even better
That's what happens when you never allow the game to exist outside of the PS1
?????
also, at the time, wasn't SH1 explicitly developed as a competitor to Resident Evil and thus very much "meant to be popular"?
I mean I can see that but SH1 still exists, and it barely gets a mention.
But yeah, I've never played any SH game. Aside from the Dance Dance Revolution teaser. /s
eh, I see it get mentioned all the time, but usually as a predecessor to 2 or 3
I've never seen anyone claim 1 is the best SH game, for example
and there are lots of video game series like that
I'd like to play it on a better port but Konami is not gonna do that now.
i have the song stuck in my head
Then again, I'm more a freak when it comes to ports. I always prefer an almost OG experience, with some gameplay improvements.
Some folks just love that RTX tho.
Silent Hill fans talk about it. It's a beloved game
People's favorites are just usually either 2 or 3
my favorite is PT
that probably is the actual zoomer take
it freaks me out !
although it's perfectly on-brand that PT is also no longer playable in any legit way
I'll mention it now then: SH1 is still a masterpiece and probably still the best horror game on the PS1, still just as good nowadays despite the age
but only because 2 and 3 are on the PS2
It's ''ignored'' because it's probably the least accessible SH game
im getting irrationally depressed about PT again
It's really not "ignored" though
Probably a spooky game that I’ve enjoyed has been Amnesia the Dark Descent.
And VotV.
i LOVE Amnesia
is it really that weird that a video game series didn't peak with the very first game, so people normally talk about later entries more? I thought this was kinda the default for games (unlike movies)
Amnesia: The Bunker was so good
Ex Devs from Valorant, League of Legends, Overwatch and Apex are making their own Battle Royale styled game that will be free to play
It's called SUPERVIVE, and playtests begin tomorrow https://t.co/up…
💖 18.8K 🔁 1.37K
I need to play Bunker one of these days, TDD was very good
It's a good one. The story is fun
I don't think it fits into "survival horror" per se but it's definitely a related subgenre
yeah you can safely skip Machine for Pigs it kind of blows
Moba with BR
actually maybe the matches and candlesticks count? I dunno I barely used them
im not sure what the consensus is on Rebirth though
That is an interesting combination. (So P2W classes?)
But yeah I need to play Bunker too some day, its just that VotV has been really good.
VotV ?
Voices of the Void
OH yeah
playing Haunting Ground was super interesting because it was clearly trying to do the Amnesia formula, but with far less success for various reasons (yes I'm aware Clock Tower exists but it's Amnesia's formula now)
Damn amnesia really gone an ate clock tower
Clock Tower is interesting, might play it some day.
Clock tower 3 is pretty fun
personally what I saw of the CTs didn't look like something I'd enjoy playing
i do not find the Scissorman intimidating
He's gonna cut you
he's like 3 feet tall i could punt him
The ✂️ are coming
he almost looks like Eddie from Iron Maiden
is he in Clock Tower 3
Most likely but I haven't seen him yet
youve been playing that game for 20 years
My PS2 isn't even at my house right now 😭
where is it ????
I let my friend borrow it since he got a CRT
oh, Nine Sols just gave me the point of no return warning, better ignore Discord for a bit
[at symbol] Ixrec
@ ixrec
Can't believe he's just ignoring us like this
i love when games give you this warning
these days I think it's basically standard, I can't recall it being an issue for me for several years now
It's just polite
i am not sure how much im lkining the puzzle changes in the riven remake
I guess DVD-style cases were a Japan-only thing for PS1 then

I saw that earlier. Why does it look so bad?
I'm unsure what the glass in the middle is meant to do
Programmable touch screen I suppose
I am genuinely unsure if I can beat the final boss of Nine Sols
but it was still fun grinding its first phase for a while
Why did xbox-style controllers decide to do asymmetric analog sticks anywho? Is there a benefit to that?
as a long-time user of the xbox style, I prefer it that way because in a typical dual stick game I'm using the left analog stick constantly to move my character, but the right analog stick to move my camera only occasionally since most games can get the camera mostly in the right place by default; meanwhile the face buttons are in constant use since most things my character can do are mapped to them (and triggers and bumpers)
I like xbox-style a little bit more
just more comfortable
I don't think it really matters much
though with 2D games it's less consistent what the sticks do, usually the left stick is still for the moment to moment movement and gets used far more often
e.g. in Nine Sols, the right stick is only used to force the camera to move away from the character, and only works when you're standing still, so that's clearly not something you'll be using constantly (and not at all in combat)
tbh far prefer it,it kinda of seperates the fingers in a way that makes individual stick control easier and more consistent and also is more comfortable than having both thumbs near the center of the controller
also find it easier to use other things like triggers or face buttons with asymmetric
That d-pad looks like a crime and I know Hori can do better because they did, with the Pokken Tournament controller they made for Wii U/Switch
shut the FUCK UP GAME-
flashbacks to being beaned by your own fucking supply crate in CoD
shoulda just sent a bunch of care packages, they're stronger than bullets
actually even better was the achievement in Nine Sols' final area where ||one attempt at curing the plague "failed" in that it devolved the Solarians into mere house cats, and reading that log gets you an achievement described as "Discover a tremendous secret."
||
I think it has to do with how your hands naturally fall into position on a controller, especially for right-handed people
(when you don't know why something is asymmetrical, assume it's because of right-handed people. 👀)
I'm just guessing but I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case
oh no, it's stupid question time
a left-handed controller isn't just a right-handed one with all the stick and button positions mirrored?
Does hand dominance have much to do with controllers?
Yes that's exactly true
I would figure that your hands naturally fall into the same relative position on a controller regardless of handedness
that's pretty much what I'm asking
Left analog stick and face buttons are the most used, so Xbox layout accommodates for that, but the fact remains that both of your hands are doing things. Left/right-handed doesn't make much sense because on the supposed right-hand default, your left thumb is doing precise movements
google is telling me that "left-handed controllers" aren't really a thing and left-handed people just rebind the controls instead
But yeah, logically speaking I get the Xbox layout. It just looks strange to me
Sometimes I'm in an irl situation where I can't use mouse and keyboard, so sometimes I play Minecraft with a controller (java edition with a controller mod, not bedrock). Both analog sticks see a lot of use there
So I'd prefer symmetrical controllers there
I think for me it wouldn't make much of a difference either way, since the 3D games where I need both sticks also tend to require using the face buttons to do stuff like jump or attack in whatever direction I'm looking, so in practice I tend to rely on strafing to make fine adjustments and only rotate with the right stick when there's a lull in face button usage
shooters where the primary attack is on the trigger are a different matter though, I do circle strafe a lot in those, but I'm not sure if symmetric sticks would feel better for that or if I'm just too used to the xbox style

Mix of red alert 2 and starcraft 1
it looks pretty interesting, very Red Alert styled, which is cool to see
RTS is making a big comeback in 24/25
wait that tweet's from last year, I already have it on my wishlist
It's a year old? huh.
Game's still not out yet sadly
They were talking about it from a thread about halo
Looks faithful to the original

ok, let's give the Nine Sols final boss another shot
Good luck!
Good Luck!
Looks great, I'm actually very optimistic about this remake from what I've seen so far which is surprising
gimme that green
holy celestia I made it to phase 2 on my first try today
this is 100% one of those "don't think, just feel" bosses
That's the essence of the game from what I saw in the demo
at its peak, definitely
there are some bosses that give me time to think but it varies
...phase 2 twice in a row
statistically, this makes no sense (I made it to phase 2 only twice yesterday after an hour plus of attempts), but I'll take it
Sleeping on a problem does help you solve it
who would have thought that konami would have a slide like this in one of their presentations
I saw someone on twitter mention that Konami apparently changed leadership in the early 2020s?
If so, it makes sense, because if you have even just slight knowledge about Konami up until now, they would've NEVER done something like this or even allow any staff to utter Kojima's name up on stage
And yet the MGS3R staff are happily saying that Kojima and his team not only will be fully credited but that they would've loved to have worked with him if given the chance
Really feels like they're trying to rebuild those burnt bridges
ok 40 minutes is enough for now
I'm getting to phase 2 on maybe every other attempt now, and now I'm usually surviving the worst attack of that phase instead of being instantly vaporized by it seconds after the phase starts
were these English comments being translated for JP speakers or the other way around or a mix of both?
don't know, i thought it was jp comments but then i saw a translation saying 'based'
my thoughts exactly lol
at the rate this fight is going I'm thinking I won't attempt the true ending of Nine Sols (which adds a 3rd phrase to the final boss)
but I can probably do regular ending if I keep at it
(with EN subtitles)

doesn't appear to specify?
I think it was an open survey anyone could fill out at the time so it's a mix of both
that's my guess too
Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake camera options:
➡️NEW STYLE
➡️LEGACY STYLE
the Sepia/Retro filters make no sense to me, not sure why these were added
maybe it's like the filter effects in Doom Eternal, 90% of them are novelty
retro likely emulates the style of cameras used in the 60s
Sepia 100% makes sense, I agree with Retro since it doesn't even look ''retro'' at all and looks ugly, I would've preferred the retro filter to be a VHS style filter
the game's story takes place in that era after all... which is one justification I can think of, but that's it
But in any case these are options anyways, so I don't care that much about it
Don't have to use them if you don't wanna
especially for an "as requested by the fans" thing
I wasn't around for the actual fan requests so if they wanted retro purple sure whatever
Most fans just wanted the green back because it actually works better for the game and makes it look less like an Unreal tech demo
The others must be some other ones they implemented
I think the Sepia one will be great for some vintage photos on photo mode, but the retro one is really confusing
yeah the green look is good
it's interesting to see how the discourse on color filters changed over the last 5 years
5 years ago, color filters were universally considered terrible, people recommended mods to get rid of them on GTA and so on
now, they're appreciated as a way to differentiate games from one another, and people tell you not to remove them
I've never been good enough at graphics to even know if a color filter was present
I still boost saturation (or better, vibrance) on some games from the PS3 era, but I no longer try to always get rid of color filters
did this consensus change because graphical fidelity overall got better so a filter is more likely to be "just" a style change, without obscuring so many details it makes everything look like one big green smear?
a good color filter one you don't notice 🙂
GTA games are full of them, even GTA 3 has a very nice color correction system that varies depending on the weather conditions.
PS2, Xbox, PC, Mobile versions all have different tunings of this system
I think it makes sense, it's a bit different when games offer it as an option, and it's also definitely a lot more unique nowadays whereas in the late PS2 era and most of the PS3 era it was kind of the default every game would do even if it didn't work or benefit the game so people would end up getting tired of it
the Mobile version generally looks brighter and a bit more neutral, likely to result in better visibility on phone screens
I guess I need to mention that I don't play GTAs
if you turn off the color filter entirely, the game ends up looking a lot more dull (despite GTA 3 not being super colorful in the first place). There's no longer that blue tint when it rains, the cyan or brown tint when it's foggy, etc
I don't really know if it counts as a 'filter' but I recall RE4R kept that same classic brown color scheme from the original game in the village section
The rest of the game is a lot more blue just like RE2 otherwise
I think RE5 is the worst victim of the piss filter though
what I most often notice is when Metroidvanias have different color palettes in each area, but I'm never sure if there's a literal filter involved in that or "just" art direction
lol the 2007-09 colour scheme
It was the trendy thing at the time
I lived through "reality is brown"
Yeah no that's just good art direction, filters I think are more of a modern thing, which is why I think people are generally more positive with them now since it's an option
I think the last game I played where the visuals change drastically enough for me to notice was DMC5, they do a lot of funky things with color in that game to fit the mood of every stage of the game
true, it's hard to be angry at an off-by-default option

it's not every day you play a game that makes you want to spend three days practicing the final boss so you can defeat it 100% legit and you don't regret a moment of it
(see, if I was good at video games, I would've gotten it on day 2)
Well done

I KILLED SHOVEL KNIGHT
The game being in 3D really kills it for me
Which is sad because it seems like a good game
can't get past the 3D models?
Yeah, I finished the game but everything seems like it'd have looked better and performed better in 2D
This game looks cute what is it
Luxor! Holy shit, I remember playing this when growing up! The memories of simpler times...

my father loved this game in the 2000s
there we go, 100%ed Nine Sols and got both endings (though I lowered the difficulty to get the true ending since the final boss was hard enough to do once)
now to remind myself other video games exist and figure out what I'm in the mood for
I'm glad he did
if the Nine Sols discord is anything to go by, I am the only person to have played this game without first playing Sekiro
Lol
Once ffxiv retracts it's claws from me, I will look at nine sols
wow i beat the twin dragon boss on my first attempt
i remember it being a pain but ig i just got better
question for chat: what 3D soulslike would you recommend? turns out that's the mood I'm in after finishing Nine Sols
keeping in mind that I had awful experiences with DS1 and Sekiro so I won't try any more Fromsoft games, but I loved Jedi FO/S (which I think are the only 3D soulslikes that worked for me so far), and some of my favorite games are 2D soulslike metroidvanias such as Hollow Knight, Ender Lilies and Nine Sols

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2102450/Enotria_The_Last_Song/ there's also a demo for this but I wasn't really sold on the combat
yeah I'm not looking for early access games
might be worth clarifying I don't care about "recent"
Nioh might be interesting to you
I didn't like it that much TBH, I didn't like the gear system, but it's a good game
Lies of P I feel like is too close to the Fromsoft formula for your taste
Another 🦀 's treasure, code vein, Nioh 1/2, Sifu, Thymesia (don't really know this one but it seems well rated), Tails of Iron, Curse of the Dead Gods, Asterigos: Curse of the Stars (Played demo, definitely hard), Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Lords of the Fallen
Some leaning more towards the Fromsoft formula than others, for sure
yeah, I've seen most of those names from google, I was after a little more insight than just a flat list
especially since I'm the only one looking for these games but specifically found Fromsoft's titles to be unplayable
do you mean in terms of difficulty?
"difficulty" can mean a lot of different things, but generally I haven't heard anyone say that the Fromsoft games are harder than any of the 2D games or Tunic or other stuff that has clicked for me
Elden Ring is the only fromsoft game I've played and I did bounce off it once. But I'll repeat myself saying that you should get a guide to "get OP early" which really only gets you a number of levels/potions/etc to put you on a more level playing field. And determine what type of style you like playing - fast paced, slow but heavy hitting, magic, etc, and follow a guide for that
I did that and massively enjoyed my playthrough as I explored areas without feeling like a mouse could sneeze and kill me. Bosses still feel very challenging even with guides
my biggest concrete issues with DS1 and Sekiro were a lot of very long unnecessary boss runs making it impossible to practice any of the actually hard fights, and particularly in DS1 hiding enough vital information that it was unplayable in practice without a walkthrough
Most bosses in Elden Ring do not have a huge run back - there's usually a grace close by (allowing some options) or a "stake of marika" even closer if the grace is too far (that one is just a rez point)
If you haven't played it, I'd still recommend it over anything else but with the caveat I mentioned
I have enjoyed these fextralife videos - they are titled "this weapon type is best in game" but they're saying that for all weapon types, so a clickbaity title, but they go through all of them and explain the pros and cons of each. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyT5NcCVqdX_V_f4l1Fpl18hHXiuhwOCf
yeah I'm just not interested in games where I need to read wikis or build guides in order to start playing
I watched these and settled on whips for my first playthrough and it was very fun and definitely not the standard playthrough that most people seem to do
that feels like I'm doing the gamedev's job
I mean, you're not wrong. It's why I bounced off the game hard and waited a year to try again
I'll spend a couple more words in how Nioh differs from Fromsoft games then.
Basically there is the gear system that is kinda of a diablo style system, plus there are extra bonuses that you can activate by using gear with similar attributes.
It's a very deep system but I didn't like it because you dropped so much gear that I was in the menu too much for my taste in a soulslike.
From what I understand if you do like it and upgrade and cultivate the right gear you can get a massive amount of power from it.
Another major difference is stances.
Each weapon type has high, low and mid stances that change the moveset completely and have different advantages and disadvantages.
Lastly there are the guardian spirits, that are big elemental spirits you can tie to you and once charged allows you to execute big flashy attacks.
But if you do follow these guides, it at least puts you on a level playing field for fighting power (not OP) and you can then explore at your leisure
you could also use a difficulty mod if you don't want to be forced to minmax
And I had massive fun doing that
I remember the Game Journalist mod made for the DLC 👀
(in their defense, from the game reviewer's perspective, it's pretty common to use the easiest possible difficulty to get through things quickly – people doing benchmarks do that all the time)
The game journalists played the unpatched difficulty which is kind of funny, since from already patched it to frontload some of the power you get in the DLC
tbf if there was a quick save mod for Sekiro I might try it again (I looked at the time, there was not then)
but "difficulty mod" sounds unrelated to any of the problems I had with those games
this doesn't really appeal to me either, but then "gear systems" I tend to ignore in most games as the moment it's complex enough to be called a "system" it's already too much for me to fully engage with; there's a reason so many metroidvanias do an HK-like charm system, upgrades and/or sidegrades instead
Nioh is really cool
so probably a non-issue for me and Nioh, it's something I'm just used to ignoring in a lot of games
Of the ones I listed, I've played Kena (which pretty much feels like a pixar graphics action adventure with at times soulslike difficulty bosses, I had to lower the difficulty), tails of Iron (I guess it feels most like hollow knight, kinda? but less smooth), curse of the dead gods (kinda hades-like with multiple paths/options but definitely harder difficulty curve), asterigos demo (felt like Kena)
Yeah problem s that inventory is limited and you kinda want to keep dropping shit, so you do have to go in the menu for a lot of busywork even if you don't want to engage with the system deeply
It's what turned me away from the game at the end of the day
oh yeah that is annoying
I mean I did put like 40 hours in it, so it's not like it was a bad purchase, but I didn't finish it
Which one?
The bad one or the really bad one?
I was hoping you'd tell me which is which
Why did they make two games with the exact same name
didn't sell enough the first time around
What's so funny about that game to me is that it's not dogshit, it's just really super mid
Which one?
Lords of the Fallen
Yeah if you try to look into it you'll find no flaws and if you really try to praise it you'll find nothing either
Yeah, which one
The original
I got it on steam for free

The new one has redeeming qualities at least
Like a bigger price tag
The two worlds thing is pretty good
What's that?
And I'm not saying that just because I want a new Souls Reaver
It's only $3
Basically, you can swap between two worlds, that have differences and sometimes you are required to go in the harder one to progress
You can also use a lantern to peer into it without completely swapping to it
huh
that sounds like a better version of DS' "world tendency"
(I may not play Fromsoft games but I watch videos about them)
It's not really that
bro's busting out the demons souls knowledge
i bounced off DS1 12 trillion times and then i had a Danny Devito "oh my god i get it" moment
The two worlds are constantly running in parallel, and if you die in the world of the living you are dropped in the other world.
It's more like Souls Reaver.
And with "more like" i mean it's identical to Souls Reaver
Neat
neat
if you die in the game you die for real
They already made that game, it's called Russian Roulette

that does that guy have 2 tongues
i have no taste
He's part snake part sun bear
im going to become the elden lord
you know what would be cool
a soulslike where instead of beating the giant bosses by poking their ankles a thousand times, there's a climbing or platforming element more like Shadow of the Collosus
Shadow of the colossus is a soulslike
I'm really surprised that none tried to make a Shadow of the Colossus like
That would be cool
The indutry really went "People really liked that game that released 20 million years ago...oh well..."
kratta can i just annoy you with Elden Ring questions
Yeah
There's Titan Souls
I assume it's mostly because climbing on moving objects is very difficult to do without making it look or feel very janky
I own this game, but that's all I could tell you about it
It's an indie game like Shadow of the Colossus
do you like the jar people
Yes
I played it and I disagree on that assesment
It is very cheap!
if you were a jar person would you be happy
I wouldn't, not after finding a dungeon in the DLC
...I'm not sure
If I was, I think I'd find my existence quite jarring
I was also about to say that the jar people seem to end tragically in Elden Ring, but then i realised that like...that's everyone in Elden Ring
except for me and my wife Rani
And me and my wife The Loathsome Dung Eater
doesnt his ending ||burn everything||
I don't know!
I got the age of stars in my playthrough
Man, life would suck if I had to play Jartic Phone instead of Gartic Phone
I watched Northernlion and he did the dung eater one
Banger post
Thanks
it's kinda funny how Grime, once you understand the plot, feels like the satirical extreme of a typical Souls-like story: ||the entire world is literally a giant corpse, every "living" thing you encounter was never meant to be alive in the first place, your character is a literal black hole whose purpose is to simply devour everything...||
I remember noticing a long time ago that a lot of the most compelling video game settings are some kind of post-apocalyptic aftermath, even if it's as bright and colorful as the Zeldas
Elden Ring lore is kind of uncharacteristic because you ||can kinda fix it|| depending on the ending you pick
The snag is that ||"fix it according to who"|| is the dilemma.
You can restore the old order, which opressed A LOT OF PEOPLE.
You can bring about a new order which will mean the old prosperity will probably be out of reach for a long time, maybe forever.
You can even say ||"You know, the undead that were created as a result of all that bullshit machinations of the gods, well now they are part of the natural order, suck it nerds||
i love DS1's story so much
I mean it's basically the same story as Tunic or Hollow Knight
||I love how the entire story of DS1 can be kind of boiled down to "old man is scared of the dark"||
With the addendum of ||maybe he's right||
All the little details in DS1 are sick
No that's a different ending
flutternod
though idk
||i feel like letting Lordran move on to the Age of Dark would be better than just being stagnate and stuck in the same cycle of undeath||
Quiplash game starting, code is CLFP
I think the best option is whatever leads to more big guys to kill
speaking of Grime again, ^this is explicitly the player's characterization
Based
I think the line went something like "I've opened the door to <next area>. I can't guarantee everyone back there won't attack you, but I suspect you wouldn't have it any other way."
it gets extra funny when you find ||the doomsday cult that's been eagerly waiting for you to show up and murder them all||
Topical to the conversation
yeah
i always forget that Gwyn is a god
just really weak from sacrificing his soul to keep the flame going
tbf these games often use "god" in the sense of "a guy who did some really cool stuff and has a rep now"
I like that so far from what I've played Shin Megami ''subverts'' this idea by making it clear from the very beginning that you're strong enough that at some point you will very likely fight and dethrone God
Elden Ring is probably the one Fromsoft game where the gods get the closest to what we'd think gods would be like rather than them being ''simple'' demigods who are big in size and also have cool powers
i like how Dark Souls makes me feel like some guy who overcame all these insane odds to link the first flame
iirc gods in dark souls are basically just big guys that live for a long time
like Elves in Lord of the Rings
like that big guy in the third one
there are so many big guys
is Smough in the third one
No, you killed him already. His armor is in it though
yep
im replaying HL2 and i forgot how much i love it

25th anniversary of dino crisis 1
"25 years ago, on July 1, 1999, the video game "Dino Crisis" was released by Capcom. The main character, named Leonina (Regular: Reina), had different appearances in the overseas version (left) and the Japanese version (right). This is an example of regional differences in game design, often referred to as "localization."
Tbh I don’t like either design
I just want a remaster or remake
I'd rather a new game
I'm just a boomer grandpa who would want the remake to be fixed camera like the first RE remake but it'd obviously not happen and most people would hate it so at that point just make a new one
I'd say I want a remaster too but... Capcoms not great about that, even the most recent collection is a bundle of slightly tweaked pc ports from 98 and not remastered (and also only on gog currently since they're the ones who worked on them)
Hoping that if it gets enough support then they'll think of doing more remastered ports but we'll see
Interesting that the translation didn't get her name right since it's Regina

FFS I didn't make the right choices in Mass Effect 2 and now (Mass Effect 3 spoilers) ||I don't get the option for peace between Geth and Quarians in ME3||
To make it right I'd have to go through ME2 again and do things over.
I'm legit so upset that I can't have what I want in ME3 I'm putting the game down for a while
That is a legit real mood
Mood.
Imgaine paywalling the ability to request ammo and auto collect your buisness funds
Supreme Victory!
congratulations HC
I'll probably go back and finish the nitty gritty at some point, I got the majority of stuff done (All the optional bosses, every sidequest, pretty much every upgrade) and now it'll just be grinding cash for mnaking every recipe, upgrading every weapon, etc.
THEN I can NG+ this bitch and with me having Accelerate (haha speed) I would ruin this game with that and my very bused "Infinite Fucking Diamond Bullet Ammo" build
fair enough, have fun!
between FFXIV, getting back into TF2 after the bot crisis and getting railed in Strive, I am a busy bee
plot twist: ME2 is a Sierra adventure game
Honestly I feel like I'm just gonna watch the cutscenes for my ideal outcome on YouTube to make me feel better
I did this with Witcher. I think I know how you feel
Im planning to play Mass Effect too but I've heard it's kind of difficult
ME1's combat gameplay is kind of awful and it's short compared to the other games but they also didn't know they'd be making a second and third game at the time so it makes sense.
ME2 expands story and scope and they really polish up combat but it still can be clunky and not feel very fluid. Late game especially will make you feel like turning down the difficulty a notch or two.
ME3 further improves on combat and feels way more dynamic and easy to master. The story is bigger than ever and easily the most engaging and emotional, especially with the context of the previous games and if you do as much side content as possible. It, too, gets legit tougher as you go but as an acceptable challenge fitting with the stakes of the story.
Yeah, the Legendary Edition is all 3 games in 1 including all DLC for ME2 and 3. Brings resolution and texture improvements to ME 1 and 2 and slightly more character customization.
The others were delisted so yes
I think I have both
One DLC mission group in ME3 is downright hilarious. You can tell it was made after the game was completed and the VAs are having a lot of fun. It has a different tone to the rest of the game but doesn't feel out of place overall.
Yeah that’s unfortunate professor. I had similar one happen because of the absurd paragon check in me2 for jack and miranda
You basically had to have it maxed out
I've also been playing as FemShep in all games because her VA is honestly better than male Shepard
I mean its bastila shans VA
She does a pretty good job with female characters
Side note: play kotor 1 if you haven’t. Its one if the best star wars games
It also took me a bit to realize Joker was voiced by Seth Green. From the beginning I'm like "Damn this guy sounds familiar" and then it hit me
"Oh that's why he kind of sounds like Chris from Family Guy"
Anderson's VA too whose name escapes me
He did a great job

Thats not surprising
I just came to a realization while playing RoR2: I fucking suck at build-crafting
gotta suck at something before you can start to work your way up
BEEM ATTAK
What if I suck at sucking
Is that from a mod or something?
Spot the issue.
If you said "Why why the hell did you not face the Spire Shield"
uhhh
yikes
Again?
Phew at least I've never used my cards to pay anything on it

It's a Virtual Table Top system, browser based, for playing TTRPGs and other games in an online browser.
"surprise"
good thing it didn't come out at the same time as Stray
now we just need that warrior cats survival game
Imagine if this one gets nominated for GOTY too, lol
no I just don't know how to make a good build in the game
Ash Ketchum with all his pokemon through the years 🥹
His Greninja is still so cool. One of my favorite Pokemon of all time.
Bought some new games including Balatro and Stardew Valley
Have fun

There are 3 things certain in the gaming world:
1: We will get a farming sim every year
2: We will get a Just Dance every year
3: We will get a FIFA every year
it hasn't been every year
i own all of them except two
11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 22, and 25.
Ah, see it's called FC now because FIFA and EA got mad at each other
Fifa, the corporation, wanted a bigger cut of the games revenue. To the point where it became an unsolvable situation and they parted ways. But since the players are what matters rather than the fifa label, and EA can still get licenses to use the names in their games, not much has changed
Fifa decided to make their own games with blackjack and hookers! I am mostly kidding. Mostly, because they decided to go for Web3/blockchain games, which is akin to blackjack and hookers, honestly~
Streamed moments of pretending to be the last remaining cheater bot.

Valve finally doing something about the bots, only for players to start RPing and cosplaying as bots to trigger all the players' PTSD is the funniest and most TF2 thing ever
nice
plus a few other titles
I finally got around to installing this mod but I didn't expect it to actually have Juri voicelines
I love it
and weirdly fitting voice for Surge, I don't think she has any ''official'' voice yet
this mod let's you gain some serious speed too
juri the hedgehog?
I think that's Juri from Street Fighter 6/5/4
Dayum
Ik, but this juri here looks like a sonic character
Nintendo has apparently stopped accepting repairs of Wii U systems as of yesterday, due to a shortage of parts.
https://x.com/nintendo_cs/status/1808707230377914724
修理に必要な部品の在庫がなくなりましたので、2024年7月3日をもって、Wii U本体および周辺機器の修理受付を終了いたしました。 https://t.co/pmexAcLr4J
that makes sense, how many years has it been since they stopped making them anyway?
Switch came out 7 years ago so id say about then

It's finally happening

Nintendo is no longer repairing Wii U consoles and peripherals in Japan because they ran out of parts
darn
prophetic
lmao
Holy shit
Zenless Zone Zero is pretty good
@quiet swift I've been playing Kena, but blocking/parrying has been so inconsistent I feel like I must be missing something, and google's been no help. Specifically, do you know why sometimes the shield works and sometimes it just doesn't? I thought that had something to do with courage but after watching it it just seems like random chance.
I think it might depend on the difficulty level? Probably why I turned it down to either easiest or 2nd easiest, I forget. The parry window is absurdly small and gets smaller with difficulty I think
And even on the easier mode it was still an issue but not as absurd
Also I'm seeing this
"surge"???
strange, the difficulty descriptions at the start didn't mention parry timing at all
It didn't strike me like a thoughtfully made game
it does seem pretty clear the effort went more into art direction than combat design
hm, the parry timing doesn't feel any different when I lower the difficulty

It's been a while since I played it, all I remember is that I had a hell of a time even with the first boss I encountered, until I turned it down a notch
yeah, at this point I'm winning every boss fight without understanding how I was supposed to parry/dodge/??? each attack, it feels like I'm being forced to just kite everything because nothing else is reliable
I think I'll play something else
Fair 'nuff!
ah, yes, the vodka is good but the meat is rotten

There is a GDQ thread, yes, but this should be shown to public
An extra innings walk-off 2-run home run on the first pitch does it! PB gets the win (and is a very good boy!) #SGDQ2024
(The dog is playing the game)
the return of Peanut Butter!?
I also love how dramatic it is, it went to 12th inning, and the last batter is Ken Griffey Jr, whose name is in the title of the game
And it almost exactly lined up with the estimation
now there's an achievement

It was a huge mistake trying out ZZZ, the account system is a nightmare.
Anyone here know how to handle Hoyoverse pain?
Cuz I’m ready to just uninstall and never go back.
So the fix was make another account, then delink and link to the old account I had dormant.

reminds me last week when I wanted to log in to Rockstar Social Club, but I lost access to the email address I used to create it
I contacted support over it and we resolved it, it was rather quick
it's been years since I contacted a games company's support, I think last time was for the Rocket League Linux refund
yeah hoyoverse games on playstation are such a pain for the accounts
that is why i downloaded ZZZ on my pc
time for gaming
They’re a pain because they made some terrible decisions on their implementation methods.
Other games that support PSN linking work just fine.
Anyhoo, ZZZ is cool but the economy system is so overly complicated… somehow worse than Genshin… its shocking. Gameplay is cool tho.
Yeah i know
Its actually horrible

epic

Someone is making a Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer mod and it looks too good to be true.
Aside from de-sync issues this is Cyberpunk with other players which is an insane sight, can’t believe modders really managed to do this it’s insane!
